Standing room only during busy game days, otherwise, you have to get there very early to grab a bar seat or high top. Extremely nice sports bar & restaurant. Very spacious & comfy! They have an outdoor patio that felt as warm as a spot in Florida! We opted for inside only because the wind was blowing fiercely. Try their wings with the Strawberry Habanero Sauce. Very mild heat with a great sweetness to it. Plus the wings were huge, not those teeny tiny ones a lot of restaurants serve. Drinks were delicious & priced fairly. This is the kind of place I'd use as a frequent hang out if I lived in Boston! I went to Dillon's on Friday with some friends after work. It was a fun environment. When we made our reservation ahead of time there were only a few tables available but when we walked in the restaurant was half empty. However, later on every table was filled with friends sharing pitchers of sangria and enjoying the delicious food. While the drinks were a bit on the pricier side, there was a promotion going on that day so we were gifted a free drink (how fun!). We split the honey siracha wings which were amazing! My Paloma was a bit strong on the tequila but I would rather have it that way than the other way around. Would definitely recommend. While we didn't get dinner I wish we had! I was at Dillon's today. We were there to watch a college game. One bartender in the front room was so aggressive with customers. It was such a turn off. It wasn't just myself and many others around me has said they experience the same with this particular bartender during the afternoon. There are many options and Back Bay, and I will think twice before returning based on this experience. read more

The atmosphere is nice. You can look out the window and watch the world go by. And it is a nice old building part of the fire department (which is next sto)... I think this is probably a better summer locale, but even then might be a stretch. They had a very average beer selection list on tap. And we ordered food. And NG. Not Good. I had the cheese-burger. And it was BAD! My GF had the fish tacos. Also, not memorable. It's the kind of establishment that looks nice on the outside and in, but is missing the quality. I used to consider Dillon's the classier bars of Boylston before Back Bay Social, Towne, or the Mandarin Oriental came into the picture. As with many bars in the area, you can tell the server that you will buy 4 drinks a pop and they will still tell you that you must order food when sitting outside. The patio is nothing spectacular anyway. Instead of people watching those walking down Boylston you really just get to watch everyone else on the patio. The bartenders here have always made my jack and cokes strong, which is a huge plus. The flat breads were pretty good as is their mac and cheese ($12) and only an extra $4 for lobster. I got a burger with goat cheese, chipotle mayo, and bacon. It was served up on a kaiser roll and was really excited to take the first bite. When I realized it was cooked medium or medium well as opposed to medium rare I was greatly disappointed. At least the deliciously thick sweet potato fries made up for it somewhat. I will just stick with the lobster mac and cheese from now on. One other note is that the back area makes for a nice area to hold a small networking event because of the couches and mini bar that is secluded back there. read more

Came here for drinks with a big group of friends - the game was on so it was PACKED! The hostesses gave us a hard time about standing in the bar area, so we asked for a table. They then told us that there were no tables, so we would have to stand (the staff as a whole just seemed a bit confused....). We ended up hanging out in the bar area and grabbing some appetizers as well. The food was mediocre - exactly what you would expect from a bar. I was very impressed with the extensive beer menu - but not the prices! A little pricey for a beer in a can if you ask me. Overall average experience - I liked the ambiance a lot, so I would consider giving them another try (perhaps not on a game night next time). read more

This was my second time at Dillon's, first time for brunch and both times I have been underwhelmed. They have a very small brunch menu with very limited options. Given such few options, you would expect delicious food especially given many of the previous reviews. I ordered the egg Sammy, a seaming simple eggs sandwich. However, something was quite off with the sandwich. The eggs were cold and rock hard. It was as if they had been sitting for hours. I was quite confused as it is quite simple to fry a fresh egg for a sandwich. However, I cannot complain about the tater tots on the side. They were warm and crispy, some of the best in town. As for the service, both my visits have been subpar. Everything has to be asked for as servers do not take any initiative. During my first visit service was extremely slow. This time it was much quicker, the restaurant was also about 50% full. read more

We got reservations to sit early before the game as advised by the restaurant because it will fill up. Half time of the game they come over and say they need the table for another reservation. Ordered a lobster roll which was the "special." First couple bites were okay. Then CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH. Most recklessly prepared lobster roll i've ever had. So much shell. Like i was literally eating the claw. Told the staff very politely and they had no problem and everything was okay. Got refunded no problem. Ten min later a different guy from management came and very rudely told us our time was up and we had to leave. I tried to speak to him on our way out and he brushed me away saying he was on the phone and didn't have time for me. The people that work there have no clue how to run a business. Too bad. Ended up here for dinner on a Tuesday night and the place was full - rightfully so. The staff were so nice and attentive, the service was speedy and the food was delicious. We sat at the bar since there were no tables available and had a great experience. They unfortunately rand out of the pretzel nuggets appetizer so we didn't get to try that, but I did get the lobster mac and cheese as a meal and it was phenomenal. The noodles were cooked perfectly, there was actually a good amount of lobster (whole claw parts) and the cheese was just gooey enough to hold everything together. The prices were a little steep, but you're on the main drag (for both business gatherings and tourism) so that's to be expected for the area. There's also a cute outdoor space that I'm sure is well loved in the summer, but the winter weather kept us inside this time. Overall this was a great find on Boylston and I'll definitely be back! read more

Before they changed the menu, they had better food AND service, so I think that management must have changed along with the menu. They got rid of this amazing fish sandwich that they had on the menu, and the closest you can get now is the chicken sandwich. The waitresses and bar staff are super rude and short, which is ridiculous, since they need to make money to stay open and they're in an area where there are tons of options to eat. As a part of the Berklee community, I can say that if anyone (student, faculty, or staff) asks me where they should grab a bite on Boylston, it definitely won't be Dillon's. Great location and great outdoor patio area. I felt like I was in a beer garden. The beverage selection was not bad --- as well as the appetizers. That said, the service could have been better. How in the world have I not reviewed Dillon's? When I lived in Boston (2008 - 2011), this was my go-to stop. It was on my route home from work and right before the Hynes Convention Center T stop - very convenient. If you are going to a Sox game, Dillion's is a 10-minute walk and a perfect place to stop and grab a meal and a drink. It's also just far enough away that it's not overwhelmingly crowded before a Sox game, but still very busy. I haven't eaten here in years (2013 I think) but when I lived in Boston, I was a regular and loved their food. They don't have a parking lot, but there is street parking and a parking garage across the street that I have parked at many times before. When I was in Boston this week, I knew I had to stop here. It was late (about 10 pm on a Wednesday night) and we only had one quick drink. Bar service was great and the drinks were perfect. Looking around, not much has changed, and I was happy to see that Dillion's is still a staple in the neighborhood. read more

Very disappointed with this place, made reservations for Saturday brunch on the patio , when we got there we were offered a high top table, my wife is disabled and has a hard time sitting at high tops so I spoke to the manager and asked if we could sit at oneof the low top tables and he said no because they were reserved. I said ok , and asked if we could have an extra chair so she could rest her foot on it and he again said no because it might get in the way. We again asked our waitress the same questions and she said her manager said no even tho we told them she was disabled. When she came out again and saw us still sitting there she responded with "oh you guys decided to stay?". Funny thing is that the whole time we were there the low top tables never got filled and there were also high top tables with 3 chairs that they never even offered us. We order the clam chowder and fried pickles and decided not to order any entrees because the clam chowder had no taste and everything was over priced. This place is terrible. The food is at BEST bland, and at worst just bad. The service is horrendous and unfriendly. I've been a few times for after-work drinks, for several meals, and for a couple Christmas parties my company had, and the appetizer type items are edible, if not amazing, but the main dishes have disappointing every time. Once i had a pecan-crusted chicken salad that was so bland and badly done, that i wished I was at TGI Fridays instead having it, because there's is better. Way better. The other day, i took my niece, sister and partner there.for lunch on a Monday about 1pm. It wasn't crowded at all, but the service was unfriendly, slow and just bad. It took ages for them to even wipe of our table, a while to get our orders in, and the waitresses demeanor was just surly and she acted like this was the last place she wanted to be. Sorry if you're having a bad day, honey, but your JOB is to be friendly and helpful and -- you know SERVE. I had the fried pickles and chicken sliders. The pickles were OK, but came with no sauce, which i had to ask for. it was eventually plunked down rather attitudinally. The chicken sliders were tasteless with no flavor in the coating of the chicken, no discernable sauce, limp iceberg lettuce and mealy tomatoes. Utterly gross. My sister's lobster mac and cheese was edible, but not very well done, with gritty cheese sauce. (This IS a hard dish to do well, but their version is on the low end of the ones I've had at other places.) My partner's fish and chips was a TINY piece of fish dwarfed against the mess of fries under it. It looked more like a fried goldfish. He wasn't happy. My niece seemed happy with her burger, but she's 13 and it's a burger. Oh, and my iced tea was lipton flavored tea. Who can't be bothered to make fresh brewed iced tea? Even Friday's does that. Ick. Have eaten here many times and always had a great experience. Good atmosphere and good food, especially for the price! I work a few blocks away at a restaurant on Newbury St. so am familiar with the area, and also the frustrations that come with difficult customers. After a shift tonight I was hoping to grab a round of drinks and apps with my coworkers, so called ahead to make sure it was okay to show up. We were told last call was 11:30, so wrapped up quickly and headed over. Showed up a few minutes before last call, which we understand can be annoying, but we called ahead to let the staff know we had a party of six coming (the maximum as per COVID-19 regulation). When we arrived, the hostess sat us inside (didn't ask if we'd prefer indoor or outdoor seating) at a table of four and were told to sit the other two at a separate table. When we said we'd like a table of six if possible, the server who had taken over told us "there are just four tops, if there are 100 of you, you might as well leave." We had given no attitude, and were trying to be accommodating (hence calling ahead to double check hours and give a heads up of the party size). To be met with such unnecessary sass was disheartening, especially as eager and loyal customers. I personally have visited Dillon's four times since re-opening a few months ago, and am unfortunately considering not returning again. I tried to call the restaurant about ten minutes after leaving in disgust at the poor service and attitude of the shorter, brown-haired male server that had made snippy comments, and was given a full ring through and then on the second call an answering machine after three rings. I would just like to reconcile in some way with someone in authority who won't give a frequent customer attitude. As someone in the restaurant industry, I understand how it feels to have customers come in that soon before last call, but it's still no excuse for the treatment we received, especially after the advance notice and cooperation we presented. read more
