Fun sports bar! We were there for a basketball game but didn't know it was a bama bar, so the game we were there for got turned off once the bama game started. It was a bit of a bummer that they couldn't leave even one tv on the basketball game. We still had fun, you could really feel the energy from the fans during the game. The drinks were fine, I got the espresso martini and then the jingle bell. They aren't anything to write home about, not something I'd go out of my way for. My only complaint was the initial service. When I first got to the bar it was pretty empty and I sat at the bar with my friends. Even then it took a good 15 minutes to get one of the bartenders attention to get a drink. Three of us were walking around on Saturday 10/18 at 3PM looking to get drinks after the No Kings rally on the common. A warm sunny day combined with everyone in town for the regatta meant the city was packed! We passed by as a huge group of soccer fans were coming out - their match had just ended - so we thought it was the perfect time to go in and snag their seats. Got 3 seats at the bar, the bartender (short dark hair and facial hair) greeted us right away with menus and was quick with the drinks. I also had a draft of Maine Lunch, which was tasty and cold. Service was efficient, friendly, and kept things moving smoothly. The vibe is classic Boston Irish pub with dark wood, casual energy, and a steady flow of locals and visitors. The location across from the Hynes Convention Center makes it a great spot for a pre-event bite or a relaxed drink. Dillon's is better than the 3-star average it currently has. I would say it is closer to 3.5 or even a solid 4, depending on your expectations. I would definitely stop in again. I am going with 4 stars and two thumbs up. read more

We decided to pop in for a bite to eat after a Red Sox game. We approached the host/hostess stand, we stated we were just two. The gentleman told us it would be about a half hour wait, I said that was fine. He looked at me and said Is that ok? I said yes, he asked for my number to be put on the list. We walked around the area a bit, thinking we would be sent a text when our table was ready. We did receive a text confirming we were on the list. After 30 minutes, were walked closer to the restaurant. The host walked out to the sidewalk at one point and looked at us, and asked if we were still waiting for a table. We said yes. We never received a text. He cleaned a table, then walked over to us and pointed to the table we should go to. He then went inside and grabbed a menu and a drink menu. The waiter took forever to come and take drink orders. When he finally came over, he said Are you ready to order or do you need more time. We stated we were ready, but we should have asked him if he was ready. I ordered an Iced tea, no lemon, then a bowl of clam chowder($10), then a lobster roll with a salad ($2 up charge) with blue cheese. My husband tried to order a water, no lemon, and the waiter had no idea what he was asking for, I told him a water, then he ordered the lobster roll ($34 each). H asked how we wanted our lobster cooked. He wanted to know if we wanted it hot or cold. Drinks finally came, and we both got water. He said the machine for iced tea wasn't working. IDK what machine he was referring to. Minutes later, our food came out: soup and both sandwiches. The clam chowder was pretty good, but I would have liked it before my food. My hot roll was anything but hot; bits of lobster were downright cold. There was no flavor, and the salad was Caesar. I told the person who delivered the food, and he just looked at me and walked away. After I was done eating the coleslaw and roll, the waiter asked if we were ok. I told him my salad was not right, I wanted a salad with blue cheese. He looked at his mini computer and told me I wanted a Caesar salad with blue cheese. I told him no, I did not. Even if I had the salad was Caesar with Caesar dressing. He asked if I wanted another salad. I said no, and I don't want to be charged for this one either, as I am not eating it. He then asked if I wanted the fries, um, no, I don't want the fries, I never did. We never got any water refills. When he checked up on he brought up a ticket and handed me the machine and said This is what l am charging you for. I said ok and handed him back the machine. Visited on a Friday night with a friend and had a great time! We were looking for a chill place to have a couple drinks with dinner and this was a great choice! Our server didn't come around super often, but I typically appreciate that. She came just in time to bring us drinks, a to go box, etc. Everyone was friendly and we sat in the corner next to the window so it was nice to people watch while we had dinner. I had the steak sandwich, which was great, and my friend had the cowboy burger which was just as good (a little greasy). My only complaints are that the fries were a little bland, but I'm just being picky. Also the music was REALLY loud. Your individual tolerance for loud music varies of course. The steak and cheese dumplings were a risky choice but they were AMAZING! I would come back simply for these. Did not expect them to be fried though. The Cajun chicken bowl was good too, the red pepper mushroom sauce was the star of the show. It wasn't super creamy (ie the rice underneath was plain rice, which is perfect), but the dish could have used a bit more chicken. Well... beer on the menu was not in stock. Ordered and Margherita (crispy) pizza at 8:15 and asked about it at 9:00. I questioned the bartender, which was a royal DICK, only to confirm I was correct. Solid! The current 3-star average doesn't represent my visit and I'm not sure how that happened. This review might get upgraded from 4-star to 5-star with another visit. Our visit was on a slow weekday during lunch hours. Business was slow and one waitress, Maria P., handled the few customers. She promptly greeted and seated our small group. It was a beautiful day, so we took advantage of the shaded outdoor seating. We asked for water while we perused the drink, food, and specials menus. The water was prompt and Maria answered our questions about the specials; Two smash burgers for $10 seemed too good to be true. But true it was. Then the fat kid in me also ordered the other special: a BIG bowl of NE chowder, BIG parmesan (hot) pastry, and a fish sandwich for $27. I'll start with my actual genuine review, this place was pleasant! I've been here before for brunch and this time I was just getting a quick meal before rehearsal with my friend. I got the lobster roll and my friend max got the honey bbq wings. The lobster roll was a teensy bit soggy but partially because of the butter I put on there, it was good! The wings were apparently pretty good, the sauce was super tasty, ambience is okay, yada yada, very standard for a bar and grill of this type. Now to my funny story! So I had some fries and I love a good tasty dipping experience so I asked our waiter if I could get some of the honey bbq sauce that was on my friend's wings. The waiter said sure and then came back with a light tan colored sauce. I was slightly confused as... I know what bbq sauce was and that wasn't it and the waiter asked, is that the right sauce? And I was like, it looks a bit light? And so he was like okay yea I'll go double check. (For reference I have an egg allergy so whiter sauces always scare me cause they usually have some sort of egg product like mayo so it wasn't just a preference thing) The waiter comes back and he is like "ok now this should be the honey bbq sauce" and I'm like great! and he sets it down and it's... the same sauce. I had my friend try it and he said it tasted familiar but he wasn't sure what it was. I decided to risk it and take a teensy taste of the sauce to check what it is. Immediately I knew it was honey mustard. At least I knew for sure now lol. So the next time I saw the waiter I told him "hey this is honey mustard" cause like... I didn't know what to say without sounding like a meanie lol so I asked if he could check just one more time, and he was such a sweetheart about it. He comes back one more time and he's like "alright. Here is (leaving spaces as if making a grand entrance) the honey BarBeCue sauce (making emphasis on the words as if to try and convince both of us)... it's literally the same honey mustard Lmfao. Literally the same thing. It is so painfully obvious that this is not barbecue sauce but I obviously don't want to be mean so I try to let it go but since he's a sweetheart he's like "no if it's wrong I wanna try and fix it" and so I had him bring just regular bbq sauce. We came here to get some dinner, we sit down outside and the waitress came over and took our order, the food here was good, and most of the other servers seemed good and did their job. Number one never told us her name however she was a young blond woman. Number two she messed up one of our orders. Three she didn't check on us after taking our order and other waiters brought us our food and had to fix the wrong order that was brought to us. Then she finally came back and we asked for boxes, a refill on our drinks, and the check. She came over with our boxes, and then we waited another 20 minutes just to get the check, we also never even got a refill on our drinks. Dillon's is a cool spot and I was surprised to see their average rating. We made reservations to sit inside for Saturday brunch. When the weather is more predictable, I'd love to sit on their outside patio as it looks like a great time. I have a feeling Dillon's is a really fun place to be before or after a Red Sox game or other event at Fenway. The building is an old police station and several of their decorations go with that theme. To drink with brunch, I ordered the Bloody Mary. The menu says to ask for it spicy if that's how you like it, so I did. As a self proclaimed Bloody Mary aficionado, it missed the mark for me. The Bloody Mary was very watery with no tomato flavor and unfortunately not spicy. Next time I'd try one of their other brunch cocktails! The food was really good. My boyfriend ordered the wings and ate them all, so they must have been good. I ordered the avocado toast benny and thought it was fantastic. The place appears a little dated and had an awkward layout with it being such a long building, but I thought the server was nice, the food was actually pretty good, and they have a patio outside which will be great for summer! I don't think I would elect to come here unless I was in the area for a game at Fenway, but I do prefer this spot over some of the other options in the area.
