Not a DownEast a Maine Lunch
    Howard B.

Dillon's has a solid menu and delivers a dependable pub experience in a prime Back Bay location. I ordered the smash burger, which was cooked well and hit the spot. I also had a draft of Maine Lunch, which was tasty and cold. Service was efficient, friendly, and kept things moving smoothly. The vibe is classic Boston Irish pub with dark wood, casual energy, and a steady flow of locals and visitors. The location across from the Hynes Convention Center makes it a great spot for a pre-event bite or a relaxed drink. Dillon's is better than the 3-star average it currently has. I would say it is closer to 3.5 or even a solid 4, depending on your expectations. I would definitely stop in again. I am going with 4 stars and two thumbs up.

This place was absolutely amazing! From the service to the food, we had zero complaints. Lovely open restaurant and patio area.

Comfy bar in a great historic building next to a still operating fire station. Way cool. Attentive and spot on service--good teamwork. Generous and well crafted cocktails--we went for old fashioneds and Manhattans. Wish we could move this place to Nashville. It could teach the Music City something about quality and quantity in a historic bar setting.

Visited on a Friday night with a friend and had a great time! We were looking for a chill place to have a couple drinks with dinner and this was a great choice! Our server didn't come around super often, but I typically appreciate that. She came just in time to bring us drinks, a to go box, etc. Everyone was friendly and we sat in the corner next to the window so it was nice to people watch while we had dinner. I had the steak sandwich, which was great, and my friend had the cowboy burger which was just as good (a little greasy). My only complaints are that the fries were a little bland, but I'm just being picky. Also the music was REALLY loud. Your individual tolerance for loud music varies of course. This isn't a blow-your-socks off place, but the food is tasty and I'd go again. :)

OMG Dillon's has a secret gem of a lobster roll. From the amount of fresh lobster, with the perfect amount of mayo to not hide the fresh taste, and finally the perfect roll. This was beyond filling and we will definitely be back. We sat at the bar so I cannot speak about table service, but bartenders were efficient and friendly.

Came in for lunch on a Thursday and had an amazing time! We sat at the bar and they have 2 very large TVs behind the bar. The music was on point the entire time. Amanda was our bartender and super helpful when picking from the menu and asking about alternatives. I added shrimp to the Cobb salad and it came out perfectly smoky. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Great place to watch games and enjoy a beer for lunch. The southwest bowl was great an healthy. Amanda the bartender helped us and answered all the questions we had about the menu. Mozzarella sticks were very good with the vodka sauce!!

It was alright. Server we had outside seemed like it was his very first day working in any type of customer service. Had no knowledge of the menu, we asked about the size of the pizza and he had to look around to reference but said "oh I don't know I can't see one". He didn't check on us once and had to wave him down for the check. This family behind us were sat for a good 10 mins before he went over to them. Overall he was bad. Pizza has an insane amount of oregano also. I typically never leave bad reviews but this was a crazy experience

Food, vibes and service exceeded expectations! Vibes- chose to sit outside, the heaters are a lifesaver when it gets chillier. The patio is cute, you don't even notice you're above a highway. Can't speak for the inside, didn't go in. Service- waiters are very attentive and patient! Food and drinks are brought out quickly. Food- okay YUM!! The steak and cheese dumplings were a risky choice but they were AMAZING! I would come back simply for these. Did not expect them to be fried though. The Cajun chicken bowl was good too, the red pepper mushroom sauce was the star of the show. It wasn't super creamy (ie the rice underneath was plain rice, which is perfect), but the dish could have used a bit more chicken. I've also tried the cowboy burger before and I remember it being fantastic as well. The drinks were alright - not super strong but delicious regardless. The French 955 is light and refreshing, and the spicy watermelon marg wasn't heavy on the watermelon but also a solid choice. Overall I would for sure recommend Dillon's for any occasion, date or catching up with friends!

When we checked in with the hostess and asked for bar seating, she said they have two reservations that requested bar seating and those seats are being held for them. I informed her we are probably one of those requests. She checked again and simply replied "we have a table for you". Ok, fine. When we get to the table, it is wobbling back and forth. The place was crazy busy and we didn't feel like flagging someone down to deal with it, so my wife and I just sat with our feet on the base the whole time and that held it steady enough. We then ordered a couple glasses of wine. They are NOT shy about the prices here. Each glass costs between $15-19, and the pours were small. We'd guess either 4 or 5 ounces. We ordered Foie Gras as an app. When it arrived, we asked for some bread to go with it. To our surprise, when the bill came, they charged us an extra $3 for the bread. When you order a $27 app, and two dinners each costng over $50, to add $3 for bread seems a bit petty. I ordered the skirt steak medium rare and it came out bloody rare. My wife ordered the scallops. They were served in a broth that was loaded with salt. Ruined the whole dish. All in with tax and tip, we dropped $250. For that price, this was a disappointment and we had wished we dined elsewhere.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out. The almond biscuits had an overpowering almond flavor, and the flavor of plant-based protein was terrible! (Oh, this should have been a plus...)

But if you're someone like me, (6'2 280lbs) it could be a little tight. At the bar, Dillon and Ricardo were amazing! They were very attentive as soon as I sat down. I was handed the menu with a glass of water. After looking over the menu they took my order. I ordered the New Orleans coffee. Good drink. A little on the sweet side but had a lot of alcohol! To start I had the tater tots. Pretty basic but it had a good seasoning to you! Not just salt and pepper! For the main dishes we had the Southern fried chicken sliders. It was a nice sweet and spicy blend. Not too spicy, just the right amount of kick to you! Also we got the chicken and waffles. As soon as we gave the menu back to them, not even 10 minutes later the food was at our spots. Piping hot and fresh. Mind you, the place was packed! So I'm not mad at that! The chicken thighs were seasoned well and juicy! The only thing I didn't like, was the waffle was kind of soggy and thin. Not like a Belgium waffle that is thick and crispy. But still, not bad. I would recommend trying them out but make reservations for a table.
