Danbi is a korean coffee shop famous for various and unique drinks. This place has been in my Yelp list for a while Finally, I went to Danbi Coffee. The place has youthful vibes. It was very busy. The drink menu is interesting. We ordered the following; - Banana Pudding Latte 5/5 - Banana cream Matcha with oat milk 5/5 With almond toffee toppings No additional charge for milk substitute. - Tropical Mango 3/5 First kick is tangy. It was unexpected then the mango flavor hits and it gives balance. It also have coconut, a layer of mango pieces that not particularly too sweet. The base is cake. The service was fast although it was busy. The staff were friendly and attentive. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a nice place to go to and try their unique drinks.
Tucked away on a corner in Pasadena, this small cafe never disappoints. The interior is pretty spacious with plenty of seating when it isn't busy. There's also seating on the patio, as well. They serve a variety of drinks ranging from matcha to coffee to teas. They even have a small section for merchandise. If you're hungry, they even have some pastries or cakes. My go to drink is the matcha rain but you can't go wrong with anything here. I love that their matcha drinks come with oat milk by default.
First Timer! Outstanding coffee! It's a must try! - Coffee Rain with oatmilk 5/5 -Einspanner with oatmilk 5/5 -Bannana Cream latte 5/5 Great customer service, welcoming, very friendly, and positive attitude Clean environment, inside seating and outside seating available, great music! Great atmosphere and decorations inside love the style! Restrooms available Street parking available Definitely recommended Friends and family I will be back soon for more!
Been a year since I last reviewed this cafe so thought I'd update it! It's a small cafe located very close to PCC making it a great study or hang out spot! It's open daily 7:30am-5:30pm Parking can be difficult but there is street parking available. Inside is very spacious with a good amount of chairs and tables, as well as power outlets. Pricing is a bit on the higher side so expect to pay $7-$8 for most of their drinks. Really enjoy that they do sugar and ice adjustments, as well as offer complimentary milk substitutions. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Got the Strawberry Matcha Rain ($8) and it had real bits of strawberries on top, as well as on the bottom. The matcha cream top was very thick in consistency so be sure to give it a good stir prior to drinking. The matcha was quite subtle and the drink itself was very creamy. I enjoyed that it wasn't too sweet without any sugar adjustments. I liked how milky and fruity it was but wish it had a bolder matcha taste. Overall, the drinks are pretty good if you don't like such a bold matcha taste and more so a creamy and milky version.
Thought the matcha here was ok. I got the Matcha Rain and the Strawberry Matcha Rain. The Matcha Rain was not bad. I wish the matcha was a bit stronger, and I would've preferred a little more sweetness. Overall, it was ok and a bit bland. The Strawberry Matcha Rain was better, but there was nothing striking about it. I liked the strawberry bits, but it's just your standard strawberry matcha. I would've preferred a stronger matcha taste for this one as well. Overall, drinks are not bad but on the pricier side where each drink costs about $8. The service was great though! I asked the cashier for recommendations and she was super friendly and accommodating. I might come back to try their coffee drinks.
Danbi Coffee had been on my list for quite some time thanks to the buzz surrounding its signature matcha creations. Beyond its innovative drinks, the café offers an impressive lineup of freshly baked pastries made in-house, ensuring there's something to suit every palate. From the moment our order arrived, the vibrant presentation left us even more excited to dig in. **Banana Cream Matcha: 4/5** The Banana Cream Matcha reimagined the classic matcha latte with a decadent twist. Topped with a luscious layer of banana-infused foam and crunchy almond toffee, it offered a satisfying textural contrast, while the housemade banana purée, featuring chunks of real banana, delivered a fresh, naturally sweet flavor. The latte was exceptionally smooth and creamy, but it leaned a bit too milky, causing the matcha's earthy notes to become fairly subdued. It was also slightly sweeter than my preference, making it feel more like a dessert-inspired matcha than a true matcha-forward latte. **Pistachio Croissant: 5/5** This was easily the highlight of our order. The croissant featured an incredibly flaky, crispy exterior that gave way to a light, airy interior with beautiful buttery layers. It was generously filled with a rich, nutty cream that accentuated the pistachio's deep, roasted flavor while maintaining just the right amount of sweetness. Finished with a white chocolate pistachio drizzle and a delicate dusting of powdered sugar, every bite was indulgent yet perfectly balanced. Overall, Danbi Coffee shows plenty of promise through its specialty drinks and well-executed pastries. While I'd love to see a bolder matcha presence in their lattes, the exceptional pistachio croissant alone gives me every reason to return and explore the rest of their menu.
I have heard of this place a few times and wanted to try it! Starting off, parking was on the street, so it might be hard to find parking in the busier hours. I came on a Friday afternoon around 1pm and it wasn't busy. They have a lot of matcha drinks so I tried one of their popular ones. I got the manga matcha rain. It was $8 so it was on the pricier side. It had a really great mango taste! The matcha flavor isn't too strong in my opinion, or its a very creamy matcha- so you don't that hint of bitterness that most other places have. Definitely a dessert drink. This is for those who think matcha taste like dirt or grass... they might be pleasantly surprised! I came in and out pretty quickly, and I didn't sit down at the tables so I can't comment on that. For me, I would come here if I was nearby but wouldn't go out of my way to get it probably because of the parking and price.
I stopped by this spot after a local recommended it as having one of the best matchas in Pasadena, and it definitely got me in the spirit to watch the new Minions and Monsters movie tomorrow! The Build: I ordered the banana cream matcha, which features a rich matcha base with standard oat milk, topped with a heavenly layer of banana cream and tiny, mysterious crunchy pieces. The Flavor Profile: Taste-wise, the drink was absolutely heavenly. The matcha itself was wonderfully rich, and mixing in the banana cream took it to the next level, while the crunchy toppings added a really nice occasional texture. The only real letdown was the size, the cup was just so tiny for an $8 price tag. Even though the flavors were incredible, it felt a bit hard to justify the steep cost for such a small portion. The Verdict: While the major price tag means this won't be an everyday habit, the solid flavors and super fast, friendly service make it a perfect spot for a little treat every once in a while. The staff had my drink out almost instantly around 10 AM on a Tuesday, and since I live so close, I'll definitely be back occasionally when I want to spoil myself.
Banana cream is thick. I like the almond stuff they put on top but it might be too sweet for some. Also, I must be blind because i never noticed the desserts on the right side, only the left side with the bakery items like croissants. Street parking if you end up on the one way street, i think they have parking in the back if you make a right at the correct street.
Cute little matcha spot just outside Old Town Pasadena! The shop is super cute and they have so many matcha drinks with different cloud foams. I tried the banana matcha with toffee bits and banana cloud foam, and it was so good! They use real bananas, so if you love banana, you'll definitely enjoy this one. I also love that they offer oat and almond milk with no extra charge. Definitely want to come back and try another matcha flavor!
Heard about this place on tiktok but it was very underwhelming. Came here on a Sunday around 12 pm and stood in a short line. We got the mango matcha rain, banana cream matcha, and banana latte. For $7-8 per drink, you get a very SMALL sized cup, I believe it's a 12 oz. Although oat milk is the standard for the matcha drinks, the price for such a small cup was not worth it. For the drinks itself, not sure what kind of matcha powder they are using but it doesn't seem to be grade quality. The banana latte also tasted like milk. Interior wise, plenty of tables & seating. Great for a study spot with ample street parking. Overall, for the price, quality, and sizes, I unfortunately will not be returning.
The first time I came here, I ordered their einspanner and personally thought it was too milky for my liking. When I came back, I wanted to try something different! Service is always extremely friendly and attentive, and there is ample free street parking which is a huge plus in Pasadena! - Matcha Rain (8/10) - high quality matcha, not too bitter with the right amount of sweetness - Banana Cream Latte (9/10) - one of the only banana lattes I've had where I can clearly taste the fresh ripe banana used in the cream. I got an extra shot to offset the milkiness and it was perfect for me. The almond toffee sprinkled on top added a crunch that I didn't know I needed! - Dubai Crown Pastry (8/10) - sweet, rich, with very distinct layers; gorgeous presentation!!! - Ham & Cheese Croissant (6/10) - pretty standard
A hidden gem on green street. Dan I means Sweet Rain in Korean. They have good drink menu, desserts, snacks, pastries and teas you can purchase. Great flow of traffic walking distance near Pasadena City College. I ordered matcha lattee with banana foam topped with toffee almond crumbles. There are many seating tables and perfect location for dessert and tea

I got the banana matcha latte and wow it was soooo good. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it since I typically always get strawberry matcha everywhere I go but wow this was just so yummy! Definitely one of my favorite matcha spots! read more
This little coffee spot is walking distance from PCC. I got a matcha rain. Very delish. The cream was scrumptious. Very popular & busy inside but service was quick. The ladies were working hard. Thank you! I'd go again to try other items on the menu. read more

A real mixed bag here. We really wanted to love this spot, but the experience was a bit disappointing. Let's start with the good: the drinks we liked, we really liked. I ordered the banana cream matcha with almond toffee, and it was fantastic, unique, delicious, and perfectly balanced. My friends were raving about their Einspänner coffees, too. Unfortunately, the positives were hard to focus on because of the environment. The place is quite small and, honestly, not very clean. We couldn't help but notice coffee stains all over the floor and even on the counter where they hand you your drink. The serving style felt messy and added to the overall unkempt vibe. The drink quality wasn't consistent, either. While my matcha and my friends' drinks were hits, my husband's mocha was just okay, he said it wasn't anything special and definitely not worth the price. And that's the final sticking point: the price. Paying $8 for a coffee in a pretty small container is steep, especially when the ambiance and service feel lacking. Verdict: Come for a specific, fancy drink to-go if you're in the area, but don't expect a cozy or clean space to sit and enjoy it. For the price, I expect a better overall experience. read more
Came on a Sunday morning around 10:30 am and there was a short wait to order. Interior is clean, aesthetic and spacious with a good amount of tables! We got the matcha rain and strawberry matcha rain. Both were pretty good but on the sweeter side and I usually have a sweet tooth but it was a bit too sweet for me. The matcha cream was good and creamy and the strawberry compote was fresh and sweet. Cups are on the smaller size. read more
this spot is bringing the good matcha down to pasadena! it reminds me a lot of stagger in ktown, with many more options! i loved the strawberry matcha rain: a creamy matcha drink with some sweet strawberry chunks. there's only street parking, and it's a one way road. there's a good amount of seating inside, but it does get crowded! definitely worth a try for really good matcha read more

After seeing Danbi's ads all over instagram, I finally made my way over. I got the Matcha Rain, which is their take on a Double Matcha. It was so rich in the matcha taste! My friend got the banana matcha. Although I am not a fan of banana taste, their drink was so delicious and tasted like real banana versus artificial flavor. I also got the earl grey madeleine, which they source from a local bakery. It was so light, yet you can taste the tea flavor. The inside can get quite packed since it's across the street from PCC, but there are a handful of tables inside, as well as a small "bar" area to work. The parking situation is quite nice, since there is about 10 spots (2hr) behind the cafe! read more

When my kids are in town we go get matcha and spend some time together. We get the banana matcha and the mango one. Both are fun drinks and not to many calories if your worried about that. Parking is in the back and shares with McDonald's, near Pasadena city college too. read more

The mango dessert was absolutely delicious and refreshing! The Banana latte was super creamy and you can taste hints of banana and toffee! Service was quick and the staff were extremely nice. Ambiance was quiet, and the cafe was nice and bright. Definitely gave a relaxed feeling! read more

Got the Einspänner and it was absolutely delicious. The cream top is sweet and of course creamy and as everything gets mixed together it's the perfect balance of milk, cream, and coffee and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The interior is clean and modern with a good amount of searing and interesting architecture. Service was polite, helpful, and patient. Overall pleased with the coffee to start the day. read more

I have gone to Danbi multiple times and their drinks are always so yummy! Whether it's their matcha or their coffee drinks, you can't go wrong. Their pastries also taste fresh. Sometimes they have a long line, but the staff are friendly and do a great job of helping you pick a drink if you are unsure. There's a lot of tables inside and a couple outside so it makes it perfect for studying or WFH. I've only tried parking on the street, but there's parking behind the building so I'll have to try that next time. Ratings of drinks I've tried: matcha rain 5/5 einspanner 5/5 matcha tonic 5/5 matcha latte 4/5 butterscotch latte 5/5 read more
Danbi's matcha rain is not overhyped at all--I primarily make matcha at home now so it takes a really good matcha drink to make me impressed. The matcha rain here was perfect, with a nice matcha cream top, and strong matcha flavor. Although the cream top slightly oxidized later on, the drink stayed delicious, instead of tasting watered down when the ice melted. read more

Came here to try out their matcha as it was a recommended place. I had their strawberry Matcha with banana cold foam, the strawberry puree was really good, the banana cold foam tasted like fresh bananas smashed up, and the Matcha itself was pretty good. Once combined it blend in well together. I do think for the size it is a little bit overpriced, especially since it's mostly ice. Customer service was okay, kinda felt rushed to order and was talked to in a very auto tone voice. read more

Came in around 3pm. Every table and chair was taken but the line wasn't too long. Decided on the strawberry matcha. Love that oat milk is their default! The matcha was very good and the matcha foam made it seem very delicate and creamy. I like that they use real strawberries. Parking was easy on the street read more

Very cute ambiance, with probably the most chairs I have seen in a small cafe. Service was decent, they were cold but I guess it's the culture. I ordered a butterscotch latte. The flavoring was pretty good, but I wasn't a fan of how they prepared their coffee. They must have dialed back their machine because it tasted a bit acidic. read more

I really wanted to like this place and was excited to try it. I understand that well crafted coffees take time but the waiting period was sort of strange. It seemed like there was very little urgency, and although barely any customers ordered before, and after me, there were tons of drink, orders, being ready to be made (assuming food delivery orders). I even asked if my drinks were coming up cause I thought maybe they were placed somewhere where I couldn't see them or there was a mixup because it was so confusing. Also, when ordering they kind of were rushing me to order although they were being nice. I said I needed a moment to look at the menu and then quite immediately they asked if I was ready. I just felt like the flow was really bad. Once I got the drinks, I wasn't offered a drink holder, so I just sort of balanced them all to my car. My friend who got the Matcha said hers was pretty good. I got the banana one and although overall I liked it I asked for a half sweet and I thought it was pretty sweet still. I also felt like it wasn't very cold and didn't have enough ice, but maybe that's just a preference thing. It's sort of felt overly indulgent and warm after a bit so I didn't end up finishing it. While I waited, I noticed that the inside had a few people that were working or reading and there was nice light, but it did seem a little sterile for a coffee shop. I think I might give it one more try as I love supporting local shops and hopefully can update my review. read more

Been waiting to try Danbi for the longest time and can finally say I did! I love korean cafes so i'm glad they opened one around the area. Danbi is located on the corner of the street, the same street as Afters Ice cream. There's street parking and other plazas where you can park. We came on a sunday around 11am, the line was out the door (only a few ppl) but it was probably about a 10-15 min wait until ordering and another 5 min to get the drinks. Matcha rain: 5/5 it automatically comes with oat milk which is great. this is like an einspanner, basically matcha latte + cream top. It was creamy, the matcha was pretty strong and not bitter. It was the perfect amount of sweetness so it probably doesn't need much adjustment. Matcha latte: 5/5 same as taste as the matcha rain just no cream top. These lattes taste pretty comparable to the Rok in ktown but I like this better. Drinks costed about $8 which is okay, but i wish there was an option for a bigger size. They also have different pastries up at the front register. Ambiance: the shop was bright and had a lot of natural lighting. pretty minimal and the decor was cute. There were about 10ish tables inside and a few outside. So it's pretty spacious. Isaw some people's review mentioning it was a bit dirty and I did see that the floors were. I can't believe customers shed that much hair lol, so they could probably tidy up more. Overall, I liked their matcha and would def come back to try their other drinks! read more
Certified and bonafide coffee aficionados. Coffee connoisseurs enjoy the Einspänner. Rich Vienna sweet cream blended well with a robust and bold coffee taste. The sweet Vienna cream and coffee ratio is just the right formula for a delicious cup of coffee. read more
Found this place on Instagram when they had just opened and now it's hands down my favorite coffee shop in Pasadena! I stop by 3-4 times a week because I'm obsessed with their matcha. The music is chill, the staff are awesome and yes it's super popular with lines out the door, but always worth it. read more

Cute little coffee shop right across from PCC with spacious and bright seating inside! The menu is kawaii and they're know for their einspanner and matcha. I came in the late afternoon so I opted for the matcha rain which is a matcha latte with oat milk topped with matcha foam... so.. super matcha-y! It was pretty good, however it was such a tiny cup for the price point that it was a little disappointing. Staff were nice and helpful when asked about the menu! Only street parking available. read more
overall: I think I'll be back to try some of their other drink options. drinks: I got the matcha rain. the matcha itself was good but the matcha cream top left an odd taste in my mouth. so if I come back I won't be getting the matcha cream top again but maybe just the matcha. there seemed to be some pastries for sale on the side too. service: the staff were all nice and the drinks came out pretty quickly. plenty of street parking available. ambiance: i went on a monday morning around 10-11am and it was fairly busy. there were some tables unoccupied but it can get noisy inside. they do have free wifi and a bathroom. read more

visited for the second time and had a much better experience! it's quite busy during a weekday around 4pm, and i can say the service has improved since the first time. there's still a little wait when there's a line, but the drinks are amazing as always! this is for sure my go to spot in Pasadena for matcha now i noticed that the staff don't really go around to wipe down the tables, and a lot of customers wipe it down themselves since they use it as a work area. i'm sure they will improve on this as they haven't been open for too long! read more
Tucked away in the corner of the block, Danbi is a great study cafe with really yummy drinks. Parking was a bit difficult due to construction, but lots of street parking available. There are lots of tables inside and outside to do work, and there were plenty of people working. We ordered a matcha rain and orange mocha, and the employee was very helpful when I asked about sweetness and milk options. I will be back! read more

I went here on a Monday morning and it wasn't busy at all. They had a lot of street parking available. I got the Matcha rain which is essentially a double matcha. I paid about $8 for it which is normal at this point for this size cup. The matcha to milk ration wasn't the best, it tasted mostly like milk on it which surprised me since the color was perfect to me. I would love to try the other matcha or coffee they had because they had a variety of them. There was a lot of seating indoors which would be nice to study because the ambiance was pretty. read more

A delightful and delectable latte cafe. I'm not much of a latte drinker so only have it on occasion. I was skeptical about the rave reviews here.. how good can a latte be? Well, it turns out- veryyy! The matcha rain had a silky and decadent mouthfeel on top, its nutty goodness meshed well with the deliciously roasted ceremonial grade matcha underneath. The einspanner had luscious cream atop perfectly made, albeit strong, coffee. I couldn't drink fast enough. Would've ordered a third drink if my body could handle all that caffeine. Dare I say it, they seem to have perfected the ice latte. Friendly, sweet and efficient employees. Nice bright cool space. Everything including the pistachio croissant was so good. Already planning the next visit back! read more
