Open for operation during the morning hours and turns into factory tea back after noon. But they also will have a limited menu for some of their drinks. Really cute inside, like a library with books and seating available. espresso + cashew milk + peanut cream + honey & cinnamon is what i ordered and it was delicious. I really enjoy the peanut flavor in my coffee. Subtle and not super over powering. Usually only 1-2 staff in the early mornings so be patient

There's a private lot to get here but also street parking. There were some trash around the outside area of the entrance. The location is basically Factory Tea Bar so it has the same large amount of space for sitting and hanging out with friends. It's very casual and can get loud when fully crowded. There's some board games off to the wall. The staff were nice and helpful. I got the banana matcha tea. It was tasty enough, and got the banana flavor. Although it really seemed like there wasn't much liquid. Most of the cup was ice therefore the drink was drink quickly.

Einspanner Cream Latte (November 10, 2025) - Price on Self Service Kiosk - $7.50 (before tax)
    Ian A.

I had a lovely experience at Hat Cafe (San Gabriel). I ordered the Einspanner Cream Latte (iced - 20oz). It's espresso, organic milk, vienna cream, and cocoa powder. It's flavorful and functional. "It tastes like dessert!! YUM!" (Noteworthy Info: When reviewing my photos, I noticed that I was charged $7.50 [before tax] on the self-service kiosk; however, the current printed menu says $7. I will attach photos. At the very least, I hope management updates their menu or system.) I arrived at Hat Cafe (San Gabriel) on Monday (around 10:13AM). This business is located inside the Factory Tea Bar Building. Parking is very easy. The private parking lot had many available spaces. Customers can order on the Self-Service Kiosk or the counter. In hindsight, I think the counter is the easier process because the Self-Service Kiosk had too many options/alternatives/substitutions & buttons. I found myself repeatedly asking staff for feedback on what a standard Einspanner Cream Latte would contain. Staff is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Staff answered all my questions with a smile. Staff also worked diligently. There was no line, and my drink took four minutes and 53 seconds. It's a decent pace, but I can imagine the wait growing very long when it becomes busy. As mentioned, I adored the Einspanner Cream Latte (iced - 20oz). Its caffeine is uplifting and tenacious. Its flavor is sweet like a soft, roasted peanut butter. When thoroughly mixed, the quality coffee shines brightly. This smooth, chill beverage held a robust, clean quality. "YUM!!" Concerning ambiance, Hat Cafe (San Gabriel) is a college student's paradise. It's a wonderful place to study and/or work on an electronic device. I counted over 10 electrical sockets inside! Some even had USB ports for charging. Even the outside patio had 2 electrical sockets. On a random note, an elderly patron was so enamored by me counting electrical sockets that he asked for my photograph. That's a funny experience! Hat Cafe (San Gabriel) also provides customer internet with password. The information is taped on the counter's window. The location is also large with many tables and chairs. I counted over 15 tables inside. This place felt huge & spacious like a library. Its lighting is also calm, shaded, and dim. I also enjoyed the music. Great acoustics! This sound system is crystal clear, comparable to a movie theater. I enjoyed its smooth, chill beats. R&B Music (ex: Die For You by The Weeknd) & Indie Pop Music (ex: there for the night by asumuh) played. However, I disliked how the advertisements/commercials would play between songs; it sounded like Spotify ads or those advertisements playing in an AMC Movie Theater. The location also has a small game corner on its shelf. I noticed chess, checkers, charades, and a few more. The location also includes an individual male and female restroom. Fortunately, Hat Cafe (San Gabriel) felt clean despite its large size and numerous trinkets. The tables felt very smooth and clean. It's well-ventilated too. However, the chairs looked worn-down and old. The walls were a little scuffed with old marks & faded colors. The floors felt a little sticky as my shoes made small squeaky noises. And the big analog clock told the wrong time since it's not readjusted for daylight's savings; it's an hour off. Despite all that, the ambiance continued to feel very comfortable Overall, I had a very delightful experience at Hat Cafe (San Gabriel). The Einspanner Cream Latte (iced - 20oz) was delicious. With a few tweaks, this small business can easily becomes a sparkling gem. If searching for a study/work spot, this is an extremely easy recommendation. 4.9 out of 5. "Go!!"

*Coffee fix adventures continue... Hubby & I noticed Hat Cafe when we came around the Mission District during Halloween and got around to trying it a couple of weekends ago. (TBH: we've been making more coffee at home, so our adventures to coffee places have slowed down a bit). I ordered their Einspanner Latte (with no agave) since the cream is already a bit sweetened. I liked the Einspanner, but might add like 25% agave next time. Espresso was medium-bold, but smooth. Hubby ordered the Banana Matcha, which the casher said is really like a dessert and it was! I thought it wasgood, but I can only have it occasionally due to its sugar content :( Shared space of Factory Tea Bar. It seems Hat Cafe operates in the mornings/early afternoons and FTB still operates (but after Hat Cafe closes). Plenty of tables for people looking for a public space to work and they have WiFi available. Parking is either in their small lot, street parking, or you can park around Mission District area and walk over. Will be back to try other drinks!

Searching for new coffee places, I gave this place a chance. Came at a weekday morning and there weren't that many people here. Easy to find parking in their little lot or on the street. The service was good and the cashier was helpful with answering my questions. Ordered the black sesame coffee and a cheese danish. I read some reviews before I came. Someone said the coffee tasted like it was store bought. I pretty much thought the same thing. I was pretty disappointed in the coffee. The black sesame on top was good but even after mixing the drink, it didn't really improve the drink. I got the cheese danish. I came a little late in the morning so it had been sitting out for a while. I asked for it to be warmed up. Not sure what they use to heat it, but maybe lower temperature and longer heating time would've made it better. When I got my danish, it was warm on the outer crust but cold in the middle. It was tasty but they need to figure out warming it up.

#171 in my Coffeeshop Chronicles. Hat Cafe is a new coffeeshop that opened about a month ago. They share the space with Factory Tea Bar and are open from 6 am to 2 pm, while Factory Tea Bar opens at noon. Both businesses are under the same ownership, and the space itself was renovated just before Hat opened up for business. The cafe is incredibly spacious with mid-century modern furniture including natural ashwood tables, wishbone chairs, and floor to ceiling bookshelves. There are also some leather sofas and fluted base dining tables, giving the space that mismatched feel of a real coffee house. The cafe side makes all of their nut milks in house at no additional charge. I tried their double matcha and nutty spice latte. The nutty spice latte was fantastic! I don't know if I've ever had cashew milk before, but their house-made cashew milk blended really well with the espresso, honey, cinnamon, and peanut cream top. I've gone back a few times and tried a few different drinks, and personally I like their coffees better than their matchas, but that's just me. Anyways, if you live in SGV, then give Hat Cafe a try! ****************** My Ratings: 1 Star: Terrible; just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars: Wasn't a fan so Not likely to return. 3 Stars: Meh. Average. Might return if others drag me. 4 Stars: Yum! Likely to return. 5 Stars: Amazing! Would plan my day around it.

Occupying Factory Tea Bar's space during the day, Hat Cafe is a welcome addition to the San Gabriel mission area! It's hard to find *good* coffee around here so I was so happy to find this place. I wandered in randomly after seeing their menu on Yelp. I can't currently have dairy, and the friendly employees walked me through my options and made a latte for me that was flavorful and bold. I've also tried the matcha orange which was super refreshing. My husband has gotten the Dubai chocolate pistachio latte twice now and raves about it as well. The pizza pastry is also delicious (and vegan!) All in all, a solid establishment! Can't wait to try the rest of their drinks!

Haven't done this, but I could see myself order online to save money. Current Hours: Currently, their hours are from 6am - 2pm. Wifi/Outlet: Wifi is available. Current password is: 69696969 . There's a decent amount of outlets available through out the shop. Restroom: Restroom is available. Lighting is a bit dim. Pastry Program: Their pastries are from Bake Bar (Culver City). Location/Parking: Located inside Factory Tea Bar. Parking can be found in their private lot or along Mission Drive. Ambiance/Decor: aesthetic pleasing to the eyes with modern furnishings. Great place to get your work/studying/catching up with friends done. Service: Service was good. The baristas were friendly and informative about the shop. Some of their drinks are pre-made. So you can try the tea base/drip coffee first to see if you like it. If you don't want to talk to a barista, they do have a self ordering kiosk. My drink didn't take long to be ready. Drink Of Choice: I decided on the drip coffee. Coffee was decent. Hat Cafe For Thought: Wouldn't mind coming again to patronize and try their matcha drinks.

What a cute and quiet cafe that is right next to Factory Tea Bar! Perfect spot to study or catch-up on work and some friends! Apparently, it's owned by the same owner as FTB! It's open daily 6am-2pm Parking is quite small but it's nice they have their own parking lot! Staff was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming Inside was pretty small but has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as very cute and modern decor! Menu had a good variety of coffee and matcha drinks and most coffee drinks were $5.50 for 16 oz & $6.50 for 20 oz and matcha drinks were $7+ for 16 oz & $8+ for 20 oz. NOTE: the Dubai Chocolate Latte & Dubai Matcha are seasonal items and only come in 16 oz for $9! The Dubai Matcha ($9) consisted of in-house pistachio milk, chocolate, and matcha foam. It was a bit pricey but I really enjoyed how creamy this drink was! I didn't taste much of the matcha because the pistachio milk was so rich. It was nice that I didn't need to request ice and sugar adjustments and it wasn't too sweet but wished the matcha was stronger in flavor. It was nice that they included a pack of pistachios to add to the drink! This was 8/10 Overall, I really enjoyed how clean and friendly the staff was. The drink was decent and I would order a coffee drink next time!

Hat Cafe on Mission Drive is a fairly new coffee shop in San Gabriel. Known for their Vietnamese iced coffees and Einspanner lattes, the cafe provides provides an inviting atmosphere with plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, with a number of outlets/extension cords by each table, great for studying and work. You can order at the cashier or at a self-service kiosk (super convenient). The staff was really kind and helpful explaining the menu to us, even offering us to sample the Classic Passion (stronger) and the Bold Thinking (sweeter) iced Vietnamese coffees before ordering. We ultimately went with the Classic Passion (which was still very sweet to me) and a hot Saigon latte. In general, I am more of an espresso latte drinker, so Vietnamese coffee usually is a lot sweeter for me regardless, but it was still very smooth. I definitely want to come back to try out the Einspanner latte and Dubai matcha latte. PSA: there's currently a promotion where they're offering $4 off to anyone who orders online!

Hat Cafe is a new coffee spot!! Found it on Yelp and it's such a hidden gem (at the moment) There's a lot of available parking and outdoor and indoor parking. The atmosphere is perfect for studying, chatting, or even playing board games with friends. I ordered the signature hat latte. The coffee was strong and not too sweet! I definitely want to come back to enjoy more drinks. There is an app, kiosk, or cashier to order your drinks! Still fairly new so I think there are a few kinks to workout but so excited for this new spot!

A very interesting cafe that shares the building with Factory Tea Bar. I believe they're still in their soft opening and definitely have a few kinks to work out. Like many other reviewers mentioned, they're supposed to open at 8 a.m., but when I arrived at 10:30 they were still getting ready. That said, the food and drinks were actually very good. Here are my thoughts: Pizza Danish - Crispy and flavorful. Surprisingly delicious. (4.5/5) Dubai Chocolate - A fun drink with a cool cracking chocolate shell on the side. Sweet but delicious. (4.5/5) Coconut Americano - My favorite of the day. Coconut water, coconut chunks, and coffee all in one--flavorful and lightly sweet. I'm surprised more coffee spots don't offer something like this. (5/5) Einspänner Latte - Strong, flavorful, and creamy. If you like bold coffee with a touch of sweetness, this is a great pick. (4.5/5) Overall, I loved the drinks but not the overall experience as much. Purely for the beverages & food, though, this is definitely one of the better-tasting coffee spots I've been to. Hopefully they can iron out the issues and deliver a smoother experience next time.

Iced Black Sesame Latte & Iced Matcha Einspanner
    Cristina G.

Tried the matcha einspanner today and was disappointed -- it tasted watered down with very little matcha flavor. The balance just wasn't there, and it lacked the rich, earthy taste you'd expect from matcha. The black sesame latte was ok, it's vietnamese coffee with black sesame foam in it - nothing special.. weak and underwhelming. Huge area to hang and friendly staff.
