Decent cafe located at the Arts Complex over at UC Irvine. It's also a great alternative, as other posters pointed out - to the heavily populated Starbucks near the Student Center, or the other coffeeshops on campus. There are refrigerated cases of prepackaged foods, a display case showcasing fresh pastries, and a decent menu of popular cafe offerings. They didn't offer an Americano (espresso + hot water), which I found a bit weird though, since it's a typical coffeeshop staple (but apparently not here). You can use cash (obviously), credit and even your FlexDine dollars here. I don't know why Cyber A cafe has such low reviews! I've loved this place since Freshman year. I mean how can you not love the red chairs! And it's a great place for people watching. As for the food, it's changed a lot since my Freshman year, in a positive way! I love their delicious made to order sandwiches. And they have happy hour specials or some kind of special at all times. As for their pastries, I read in a review below that they're pre-packaged. Hmm, technically NOT because they're delivered fresh every morning. I've actually seen the delivery man since I've been there way way early. The coffee is mediocre but it does the job. And the baristas are always really accommodating to my weird coffee-drinking habits and they make awesome suggestions. The only thing I wouldn't recommend that anyone try is the Chocolate Chai Latte? Okay, so this is definitely a different scene than Starbucks. Isn't that what you're looking for? The positives include: -Better tea selection -Typically more space for plopping down and studying -Comfier couches (my only reservation is:how often are they cleaned?) -A vegetarian menu plus lots of vege prepackaged stuff that you can't find at zot and go (pumpkin rice!) The negatives -CyberA is located in the artsy fartsy area of the school, which is fine, but often the clientele includes really melodramatic, screechy drama majors who don't allow you to do your work because they are so damn loud. -Only one area for plugging in your comp (on the comfy, albiet sketchy couches) -Limited outdoor seating (no electricity) Overall, I enjoy coming here. Definitely check it out if you're looking for different drink options (mayan mocha!), different lunch options (spinach-mozz sandwich, nutella banana sandwich), and a very different vibe than the bux around the corner. read more

An alternative to the hellhole that is the Starbucks on the UCI campus. Hooray! Plenty more seating and comfy couches to sit on (although I'm not sure how much and often they get cleaned...) and outdoor seating, better drink and food selection, and even vegetarian food for those less meat-inclined. They've got a whole cooler of other drink selections as well, which is pretty great. The only two problems: 1. There is only one place where you can plug your laptop in (next to the comfy couches). 2. Those pretentious drama majors that hang around here...they gossip and complain and whine and recite their lines (poorly) and all of this is done in a melodramatic fashion as they screech at the top of their lungs. It's impossible to study in here the moment they invade the space and FRICK are they annoying. The sushi here is overpriced and not very good. Sandwiches are great though, and their Italian sodas are to die for! Yummy! read more

Out of the options for eating on campus at UC Irvine, this is one of the best. They make tasty sandwiches for a relatively low price, many fancy coffee drinks, and ITALIAN SODAS!!! I freaking love Italian sodas and they actually make them here, with or without cream. Amazing. They also have about ten million flavors to choose from. Every day they have a special sandwich. I'm a fan of tuna melt Fridays and BLT Wednesdays. They also serve breakfast sandwiches all day! Yes! They also have free computers here for you to use, and several to-go items in the side fridges (pre-made food, beverages, etc.). read more

There are very few food choices if you're hungry and need to get a quick bite b/t classes in the school of arts. Their "fresh baked" cookies are in fact pre-packaged, so I assume their muffins are too. DO NOT get the sushi here, it's so so so so wtf nasty. I tried it twice because I was super hungry and didn't want to drive off campus to get food. I've learned my lesson. Sandwiches are over priced and mediocre on a good day. I love my coffee and fresh bakery, but a grande-no-whip-whitechocolatemocha near four or five times a week gets boring. So instead of gravitating towards the green, Statue of Liberty-esque logo, I walked a few more yards to a small on campus cafe. And because I've become a smooth-speaker of the Starbucks lingo, I felt lost starring at a list of only 13 coffees. It was my turn to order and not having made up my mind, I asked the barista what her favorite drink was. It suddenly turned into a bar. "I can make you my speciality, it's not on the list." Hm. Okay... I trusted her -- she made me a Vietnamese something something. It was a great change from Starbucks. Suddenly, coffee tasted like coffee again, and not syrup and chocolate. Things you should get: Coffee (better than the starbucks on campus and less crowdes too), Sandwiches (create your own sandwich. A good place to go when you want to avoid the crowd at Starbucks. It has a more comfortable and sociable environment than the Starbucks near the bookstore. The sushi here is surprisingly delicious and the strawberry parfaits are great as well! Super convenient to come here if you're around the art and dance departments. read more

the food n coffee isnt too bad and every once in a while they have some interesting fridge choices.... what I love most about this place is the ppl and the atmosphere... you never know what you will come upon in the midst of the arts island... there will be ppl singing musical theatre in harmony on one day or doing acrobatics and contact movement the next... many a good time are had here :c) plus their couches are super comfy and awesome for midday naps :c) read more

I know some of the staff here is trying but honestly some are just not trying hard enough. The orders take forever to fill and one day, after missing my breakfast, I decided to order a hot sandwich. "breakfast wrap please!" I ordered, "how hard can that be!" After waiting ages for my sandwich I sat down and bit into it only to find that the bacon was still UNCOOKED. Ewwwwww. Ruined my whole experience. To bite into chewy raw meat, no amount of coffee could wash that down. Would recommend people to either go to Zot and Go or the Alumni Cafe down the road. read more

I have enjoyed the great Sandwich selection a couple of times at this location. Got to admit I feel things are over priced as usual on Campus. Do recommend the artisan breakfast and lunch sandwiches which are fresh, delicious and made right in front of you in many fashions. I have been to better places though for cheaper prices. I'm so happy that UC Irvine has such a wonderful cafe on campus! This cafe is located in the Arts area on campus just across the bridge from the Humanities area. There are so many healthy and delicious options here. I always pick up a Sabra hummus and pretzel pack when I'm in a rush and hungry. They also sell 100% fruit smoothies. There is no sugar added and it is all natural. There is a wide selection of refreshing drinks here as well as healthy food options and sandwiches. They also sell scantrons here although they do not sell all types. Usually just the 158 and the green one. read more

I've only been here once but not an experience I care to repeat. Personally I think the prices and the food are pretty darn good. I got brave and tried the sushi. I love sushi, particularly fresh sushi. This is cold boxed stuff and made hours prior. That considered I was very impressed - yum - filled me up and left me satisfied.
