Rib Eye con Tuétano. 28 oz for $139. Unfortunately, a bit chewy/dry/rarer than medium rare, but nice flavor

Recommendations- Tacos Callejeros, Puré de Papa, Sombrerita I was at this Mexican-inspired steakhouse with a group of others a while ago. For how big the place was, the inside was jam-packed, so it was quite loud. Our table was in a slightly dark area, so my photos didn't come out particularly well, but oh well. The food overall was good, but I preferred the steaks and especially the atmosphere at the newer, quieter Amasa. To drink, I went with the Sombrerita for $22, with Manojo mezcal, Flor de Azar (a triple sec), jamaica, and lime. The drink had a fun presentation, with a tiny sombrero, a hibiscus rim, and sea salt. The flavor was also nice, with a good amount of smoke from the mezcal along with some citrus and a light floral note. I would recommend it. For food, two of us split a bunch of dishes, and once we all ordered, they gave us some chips as well as a few different salsas. The salsas ranged from mild to one with a pleasant kick, with my favorite being, I believe, a salsa matcha, as it was nice and smoky. It was a good mixture and a nice way to start the meal. Our shared appetizer was my favorite bite of the night, the $32 Tacos Callejeros, consisting of four tacos made with a butcher's choice of premium cuts, fresh cilantro, and onion, with some salsa verde on the plate as well. The meat on the tacos was juicy and beefy, and the tacos themselves were a bit thicker than normal, which I was fine with, as they probably would have fallen apart otherwise. The salsa verde helped reduce the richness and added more spice. Outside of it obviously being messy, this was delicious, and I would recommend it. Our main dish was the Rib Eye con Tuétano, a ribeye norteño-style with pepper, garlic, bone marrow, and salsa piquín limón. They offer either a 16 oz version for $89 or a 28 oz version for $139, and as we were splitting, we got the latter. Along with some other dishes, this had a tableside presentation with the roasted bone marrow scraped over the steak. We ordered it medium rare, but we both found it a little too rare, which made the steak a tad chewy and tough. For that reason, the best part of the steak was not the meat itself, but rather the spice mixture, which was a bit disappointing. Possibly, we caught them on a bad night, as others enjoyed their entrees. We otherwise got two side dishes, which were both $15. The Puré de Papa, or potato with Grana Padano, truffle, and crema de rancho, was better than expected. I've never been a huge fan of truffle oil, but they didn't overdo it, and the potatoes had a nice texture. The weaker one was their take on Esquites, consisting of charcoal-grilled corn, olive oil, lemon, butter, and Grana Padano. It was a bit soupy, which made it closer to some of the carts I've been to, and the flavor was only just OK as well, as I wish it had a bit more heat, and it lacked a bit of citrus. Overall, the sides were decent, and the price was good for a steakhouse. If I were to come back here, I would get a different entree, such as the barbacoa or short rib. I loved the taco and drink, found one appetizer good, and the steak was unfortunately a bit tough and chewy. I'm still going to leave a 4, as I think we caught them on a bad day.

We were excited that Cuerno was opening in NYC, but a little concerned. In general, we have found that incredible Mexican upscale restaurants that expand in the US lose some of their magic as it's very difficult to replicate the Mexican dining experience in the states. Cuerno in MTY is in this gorgeous area of SPGG and has the best Arracherra I've ever had in my life - not even debatable. The NYC Arracherra felt like a different cut of meat (i dunno, possibly flank and was oversalted) and was much chewier and didn't match the MTY version. That said, it was fine. One other small difference is in MX it's customary to bring out tortillas with the dish while they looked at us a little strange when we asked for tortillas! Anyway, I did think the ribeye taco was excellent - not quite La Buena Barra in MX or Este in ATX but it was def a must have there for sure. The papa asada was also pretty good and although it was a bit more americanized/upscale instead of the delicious mess in tinfoil that is more traditional, I get it and enjoyed it very much. Chips and tortillas were all good and the decor of Cuerno is beautiful! Tip - make sure to sit on the main level as the basement is not the same vibe at all. Food presentation was very pretty of course! Service was okay, but much more disconnected and that is always the largest difference between the MX & US versions. While I am not a fan of the midtown area (50/6th) I can see how it's very convenient for tons of folks and def attracts more of an after work crowd / biz dinners. Hard to recommend as it's not really indicative of the group's MX restaurants. They're Japanese restaurant Ryoshi is really good and so is Mochomos.

This is not your traditional NYC steakhouse. We wanted to try something new and we were not disappointed. Our waiter was excellent and very knowledgeable of the menu and flavor combinations. Two days have passed and I still find myself missing the salty crust on the steak. Amazing flavor with the tenderness of the meat. We tried shared a taco based on the waiters recommendation and wished we had ordered more. Great taco!!! The complementary salsa and chips is good and there is a variety of levels of heat with the salsas. Being first timers we were even given small complementary prickly pear margaritas. Cuerno exceeded our expectations!

Cuerno had been on my list for a while, and it definitely lived up to the hype! The restaurant has a beautiful upscale atmosphere that's perfect for a date night or special occasion, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We started with the complimentary chips and four different salsas, then ordered the Guacamole, Chicharrón de Pulpo, and Coliflor Trufa Habanero. The biggest surprise of the night was easily the cauliflower. I never expected a cauliflower dish to be one of my favorites, but the smoky, truffle, and habanero flavors worked so well together. It's an absolute must-order. For our mains, we shared the 52 oz Tomahawk, Taco Taquero, and the Beef Short Rib. Without a doubt, the Taco Taquero was the best dish of the night. The tableside preparation with the fire-roasted bone marrow made it such a fun experience, and the flavor was incredible. The tomahawk was cooked perfectly, and the short rib was fall-apart tender with amazing flavor. To finish, we had the Pastel de Campechanas, which was unlike any dessert I've had before. Overall, every dish was memorable, and although Cuerno is definitely a splurge, it's well worth it for a special occasion. We'll definitely be back!

This place is great! Located in midtown, this is a go-to corporate lunch spot. The prix fixe lunch menu is pretty affordable at $39. I've been here twice in the last week, and it was great both times! The service was quick, and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. They also have outdoor seating. The food was excellent! The esquites were really tasty. I didn't care too much for the guacamole, but my tacos were really good. I would definitely come back here and try more menu items! We also got a dessert...beware! Our pastel was MASSIVE and delicious!

I came here during my three-day stay in NYC. I was recommended this place by a friend, and I am so glad I came. I was exhausted from walking around NYC and the food here satisfied my appetite. First off, the service was wonderful. Our server Alberto was so welcoming and kind. He made sure we had everything we needed. Secondly, the restaurant itself is beautiful. The seats were so comfortable I felt like I could fall asleep right there! And of course, most importantly, the food was filling and tasty. My favorite part were the chips; I really liked all the different salsas provided. I enjoyed two cocktails, tortilla soup, beef tacos, and one "Taco Richi". I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 because I was confused on the menu. I am used to going to get Mexican food and the orders are simple, but I do understand that this is an upscale restaurant and there are different components to the dishes.

WOW!! I felt like a celebrity as soon as I walked in! The staff was super friendly and professional. The manager was very attentive and helpful. Even though we didn't have a reservation, she was able to get us a table. I believe her name was Devin or Devon. We had the tacos with the big bone..holy smokes, they were fantastic!! The vibe was very chill, and the music selection was great. Definitely coming back!!

2nd time here, first time for a weekday lunch. It was fairly busy even for lunch. What was disappointing was that the food took so long - sat down at 12:20 and our entrees came down 1:40pm. The food is delicious but the wait makes me 2nd guess whether I'd have my business lunches here. Crudo: delicious and flavorful Ribeye a la sal: comes with roasted garlic, I liked this maybe as much as the other ribeye Pomelo Brilliante mocktail: refreshing

Cinco de Mayo at Cuerno~ Best Meal in NYC! Its been awhile since we spent a few days here in NYC. We came here for our anniversary (CInco de Mayo) and to see the Broadway play Death Becomes Her. So, when searching for the best Mexican restaurant, Cuerno came up frequently. High ceilings, beautiful interior, comfortable seats, and so much more. Seated at a huge round table that could fit 3 more, our friendly server came over and we ordered some cocktails. Well, I had a beautiful Sparkling Rose from Mexico----I know! Mexico makes some really nice wines:) My husband had the classic Margarita to celebrate our Anniversary and Cinco de Mayo. Let me just tell you the food was probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to. It is also a Steakhouse too. To start, they bring over a few salsa dips along with thier Homemade chips. Some were better than others as well as the heat meter (some more mild than others), but I personally loved most of them if not all. Their Guacomole is amazing! We also ordered their grilled corn (Esquites) and a Taco Taquero. Everything was amazing including the Coffee. I think we were so full so we opted out of dessert. If you have never been here before I highly recommend checking it out while visiting NYC. You will love it!

My boyfriend wanted a date night (as usual--and I can never say no), so we tried Casa Enrique near his job. We didn't have reservations, so we were seated downstairs, which isn't as nice as the upstairs area--but it was still fine for a casual night out. The food and service were both great. We ordered chips with sauces, ceviche, branzino, and steak. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared, but the standout for me was definitely the cauliflower--it was so good and honestly the highlight of the meal. Drinks were just okay--mine wasn't my favorite, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. Overall, I'd definitely come back again, but next time I'd make a reservation since this place gets pretty busy, even during the week.

Terrific service. Cool vibe in a nice looking restaurant. The food for the most part is excellent. Also some really great cocktails. The Rib Eye à la Sal was as good as any steak served by the finest steakhouses. The Taco Richi was also great as was the Queso Fundido. The Tacos de Branzino was disappointing. A lot of cole slaw and not much branzino. I'm not really sold on their cauliflower dish either. Otherwise a terrific meal. The complimentary chips and sauces were a spicy hit. Desserts another plus.

I was a bit underwhelmed here. The guacamole and broccoli appetizers were bland, and the steak in the tacos (both taco callejeras and taco richi) was dry. The cauliflower and hamachi were amazing. We got too full of appetizers to try any of the steak entrees, so maybe that would've been better. We did try each of the four desserts, three of which I loved. The pastel de campechanas was my favorite, and the mango and vanilla ice cream were also good. The chocolate cake was a bit dry though. The ambience is very nice, and it was easy to book a reservation for a group of eight. The service was very nice too. It's fine for a business meal, which is probably what they cater to.

Cuerno is the best! We've been here a couple of times and never have the same experience. The staff is super upbeat and helpful. The waiters make the experience much better with their friendliness and information on the food. The place is gorgeous and very well kept. My favorite part is that everything is perfectly timed. You don't wait too long for your food but you're sure it's being made with quality. The drinks here are awesome I would definitely come here with friends ONLY for the drinks cause they're that good too. Cannot wait to be back!

The front of house "girls" said a table would be available 1-2 hours but a seat at the upstairs bar was immediately available...tired and hungry we agreed. The kicker was: the upstairs tables were *completely unoccupied* and remained so for the hour or so it took to serve us a couple of drinks and eat a meal while seated at the bar. While the food and bar service was great, we expressed out disappointment of not being allowed to sit at a table in the *entirely vacant* upper level (BTW, it was wonderfully quiet up there, compared to downstairs). Excuses ranged from "short staffed" (despite three young women at front of house being deep in conversation with themselves) to "no server upstairs" , both clearly BS as someone clearly served us, but they were apparently "runners" not "servers". WTF? Seriously?! Heaven forbid two people sit at a table in an otherwise totally empty upper level.
