*SUMMER 2026 RESTAURANT WEEK REVIEW ONLY* Most places typically don't offer restaurant week menu on Saturday, but this place does & luckily for us, we were nearby so it worked out perfectly! My friend and I arrived late 11am. It was fairly empty, but people started to trickle in the later it got. We came exclusively for the restaurant week menu & got started right away. We were given an assortment of bread/crackers with olive oil/balsamic to begin. I personally ordered: IMPORTED BUFFALO MOZZARELLA This was 4 pieces of cut mozzarella & tomato slices. It was a good thickness size. The mozzarella itself was good & exactly what you would expect to taste of a piece of fresh slice. It was simple & light. USDA PRIME JUNIOR NEW YORK SIRLOIN I personally ordered medium rare. It was cooked almost the way I like it. The cut did have some stringy tendon parts in the meat that made it hard to cut, but overall, the meat was very juicy. At first bite, I was impressed. My friend and I also enjoyed their signature steak sauce - it added the right amount of flavor to the meat. The vegetables & mashed potatoes were also great. It wasn't too salty, which was seasoned to my liking. NEW YORK CHEESECAKE By the time dessert came around, I found myself getting quite full. So unfortunately, I didn't get to finish everything... but the cheesecake was good. The raspberry compote did add a tarty mix to the sweetness. The whipped cream balanced the sweetness/tartiness. Overall, I thought that the meal was worth the value. I enjoyed every course. I did leave the restaurant quite satisfied in fullness & taste. The service was also excellent. They were good about offering the dishes in a timely manner, filling up our water cups & checking in on us. I'm glad that I stopped by for their restaurant week lunch course. read more

One of my favorite restaurants for NYC Restaurant Week every year. Always great food, cocktails, and service. Large space with plenty of seating. It was busy even on a Tuesday. (We reserved our table for 2 in advance). From what I could see near us, some tables were there for restaurant week and others just for the regular menu. There was at least one large group at a large round table. We shared a dozen oysters to start (separate from restaurant week menu.) It was my husband's and my favorite steakhouse when we used to live in the city many years ago, but we remembered the steak being a little less salty and more tender. Service at the bar -- I believe it was from Angela -- was excellent. This is a very strong candidate for a good quality steak if you are in midtown. The first thing I had was the crab cake, and it was great: crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside... just right with the seasoning. No filler, just quality. Came to Benjamin Steakhouse for our 6 year anniversary. Benjamin's is set up like a traditional "old school" steakhouse and has the great service you would expect at that type of establishment. My experience was unexpected. Made a reservation for a Sun morning before the shuttle and flight back home. I appreciated the hostess offering to check my suitcase. Country music flowed through the speakers during my entire meal. I distracted and detracted from the decor and atmosphere- it was weird. My food was average. Nothing notable. The onion ring batter had no flavor. The burger bun was huge so I tried to eat the burger with a fork- the meat just crumbled in tiny pieces like ground meat. I asked for bread when no one brought it. A group of 6 finished while I was getting seated- no one else was in the restaurant. Always a 5 Star!!! Tonight was not any different from any other night. My daughter and I celebrated our dining experience here after attending the taping of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Our first choice was Benjamin Steakhouse on 41st. As in the many visits in the past, there was NO disappointment. The service, quality of the food, ambiance, energy were all 5*. We shared a Porterhouse for 2 after sharing a Shrimp Cocktail. Our beef was ordered medium and it was served sizzling hot, charred and sliced. It was done perfect for our taste as was the side of steamed broccoli. We also shared a Coppola Direct Cab bottle of wine with our meal and prior had a Tito Martini slighty dirty and a Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned prepared by G at the Bar. Loved the mozzarella. The filet was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Sear was great and loved the level of salt. The mashed potatoes were heavenly. Loved the garlic flavor of the vegetables but they did seem like frozen vegetables and not freshly chopped. The chocolate mousse was a disaster. Way too sweet and not enough texture. The cream was just too overpowering and they didn't even need that on the plate. For the size of our group the service was fine. Hubby took me here for a late night Valentines dinner and we both loved the pre-fixe selection. The bacon app was DELISH and a must-try for all the bacon stand out there. But the crabcake left a lot to be desired - it was just okay. We both got rib-eyes for our main entree and ordered creamed spinach and fries for our sides. The rib eye was delicious. It had the perfect crust on it and was super tender. The fries were great but the creamed spinach lacked flavor for us and tasted more like a bag of frozen spinach than creamy steakhouse creamed spinach we're used to. Lastly, both the cheese cake and chocolate mousse were solid desserts and super rich. The service was fast and pleasant and the ambience had an old world appeal as most steak houses do. Finally got around to this place. One of my best buds has raved about it for yrs and we never took the time. I personally found the space a bit tight. The tables are laid out so close to each other... well, I guess, it is midtown. Sorta dimmer and much louder than I'd like when I am out for a meal with good friends. We had a serving of their thick cut bacon, each, porterhouse for 3 and a few drinks. I found the bacon to be quite good. Not too salty. Great consistency. I could have that and a couple of sides and call it a meal. The porterhouse; my friends felt was exquisite. I on the other hand, was not as pleased as they were. For me, I felt it was unevenly cooked. Too cooked on the outside. Some bites were charred, even; transitioning to well done and finally to rare. I believe this is depicted in some of my pictures. The sides, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were what anyone would expect. Service was friendly and swift. I wished the venue would be quieter, slightly brighter, the steak not charred on the outside. A good time was had in spite of the observations I listed above. We ordered the Porterhouse steak, which arrived steaming hot on a warm plate, instantly whetting our appetites. The cooking was perfectly executed, with a crispy, aromatic crust that was full of flavor. Chairs were super comfy and slid out easily. We ordered many dishes to share: apps, entrees, sides, dessert, drinks. They gave us complimentary port to finish the evening. Service was top notch: staff appeared immediately without being summoned to take away dirty plates, top us off, ask us about the meals, etc. A few minor drawbacks: food too salty. Meat cooked medium well to well be medium. Also the seafood tower was impossible for some of us to reach in the middle of the table. We weren't rushed as we were constantly chatting. We came to this lovely establishment last Saturday before our comedy show at MSG. My close friend Juan is a frequent flyer and always brags about the restaurant so we tried it out. We were a bit late and they still seated us. We let the server know we had to be out by a certain time and so he took our orders quickly and efficiently! They were absolutely amazing staff. I wish I had more food pictures of the porter house steaks and clams/bacon we ordered but I didn't to snap a picture. The food was amazing and their steak sauce is very delicious and tasty. Entering and leaving the restaurant, you'll walk past cabinets of wines and photos of famous people. More photos in front of the building, where the Restaurant Week menu is advertised. Unusually that lunch is also three-course, but the portions are smaller (but more human?). The dining room is like what you'd expect from a steakhouse--traditional and elegant. Stumbling on Benjamin felt like a strategic win. Full disclosure..... I'm a big fan of Peter Luger Steak House, and I've made it a mini hobby to try spots that claim former Luger chefs just to see how they stack up. So I skipped Restaurant Week on purpose. If I'm doing a comparison, I'm doing it properly. My friend and I ordered my usual benchmark: the porterhouse for two, black and blue. We kept it simple with a side of potatoes, their house version with a slightly elevated twist. The steak came out beautifully charred on the outside, perfectly warm and red in the center, and sliced with that classic steakhouse confidence. Flavor wise, it absolutely delivered. Rich, well seasoned, and cooked exactly the way we asked. No notes. Another big plus for me is that they take credit cards and are part of a credit card promo program I'm in, so I was able to use some of my restaurant credits.
