Had an exceptional experience at Gallagher's. Got lucky with a roomy spot at the bar and enjoyed a full dinner. I started with the Gorgonzola salad which was simple but perfect. Great vinaigrette dressing with healthy chunks of cheese. For the main intent with their signature Rib Steak and would say it is up there with the greats in the city. Perfectly cooked to medium rare with lots of earthy notes. I closed with the tiramisu which was large and tasty. A shout out to the bartender Stewart who was very friendly and made great recommendations. A top notch experience!

Valentine's dinner well done (or shall I say medium rare?)! We were seated promptly after coat check and started off with two delicious cocktails-- Sidecar and Ziegfeld Follies. For starters, we got the steak tartare and tuna poke. For main, we shared a porterhouse for two with a side of mac n cheese, followed by a decadent cheesecake. Steak tartare 4/5: creamy texture, smooth and paired with lightly toasted bread. I enjoyed each bite, savoring the hints of mustard and pickle. If you're a savory fan, you'll enjoy this. Spicy tuna poke 3/5: besides the wonton chips being delicious, the poke itself was ok. It was bland in flavor compared to the poke I usually eat on the west coast and found that the radish chunks were too big. The quality was fresh but I'd skip this next time. Porterhouse 5/5: we got a mixed cut of medium rare ribeye and filet mignon, which was such a splendid eat. The steak was cooked to perfection and came out on a hot plate. I liked that it wasn't salty at all and paired really nicely with their signature steak sauce (tomato based). It's a perfect portion for two people Mac n Cheese 4/5: nothing crazy but still delicious and classic. It's my go-to side dish for steak NY Cheesecake 5/5: i usually don't get cheesecake but this was great! Creamy smooth with a nice base. Imagine a soft graham cracker with a touch of cinnamon. It was paired with a decadent strawberry puree and overall not too sweet!

Got the restaurant week menu: Manhattan clam chowder, sliced filet mignon and dessert for addition $4! The clam chowder was punchy and tangy. The filet mignon was soft and delicious although I wished for more, only 4 slices haha. The key lime pie was not my favorite, it was overly sweet. Service was attentive. The ambiance was sophisticated but not stuffy. Overall, this was a nice first experience at the steakhouse.

I had dinner at Gallaghers last weekend before a show. Gallaghers is a classic, and now I know why. Gallaghers was opened by a Ziegfield dancer (Helen Gallagher) and a partner in 1927 as a speakeasy and steakhouse. I'm sure a lot has changed at Gallaghers in that almost 100 years, but it stills retains so much history and charm. The menu is classic, and I had a very hard time choosing what to order (the downside of a solo meal - you can't try as much). I ended up ordering their jumbo shrimp cocktail, the beefsteak tomato and onion salad, and their bone-in New York sirloin sliced. Everything was delicious. (One note: I like onion a sort of absurd amount. You know people who just can't abide raw onion? I'm not one of those people. While I love the idea, I'm not sure I get their tomato and onion salad. The two slices of white onion were a half-inch thick - just entirely too much raw onion to the amount of tomato. Even for this girl. Is it meant to be a salad? They bring it with dressing! Or are you supposed to eat it as a side with the steak? But it's not listed with the sides? I don't know. But it was the one bite that made me go "huh?" I didn't hate it, but I don't get it either.) I also had a martini, which went great with my meal. The service is just the best. It's a classy place (white tablecloths, uniformed servers), but the service lives up to the class of the place. The servers wheel carts around the restaurant like an elegant game of Tetris. And the ambiance is great, too. Gallaghers is a classic for a reason. I'll definitely be back.

Gallaghers Steakhouse opened in 1927 on 52nd Street as a Prohibition-era speakeasy. After Prohibition ended in 1933, it became Broadway's first steakhouse. We went for my birthday. Started with the French onion soup. Our waiter kindly split one order into two bowls. Main was the 28-day dry aged porterhouse for two plus the charred crispy Brussels sprouts on the side. We finished with cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. One of the best steakhouses in NYC. Classic vibe that's cozy and upscale, like Polo Bar but with a steak focus. Service was attentive and respectful from all staff members.

My sister had been to this place once before, so we decided to come again on our last visit to New York. It was my first time. Service was good, a little bit slow. But that seemed to be the theme for this trip, lol. We ordered two steaks and I got the Ahi pepper steak. Everything was good! Since we were also celebrating my birthday, we ordered the Keylime pie. Which is my favorite. They also did bring out a little small something for my birthday. But they didn't offer that originally when we were deciding on dessert. Didn't really need both, but glad I got to try it. SYOY!

I love me a great deal and gallaghers has one of the best lunch specials around. And the best part? If you are seated and ordered before 4pm repeat 4pm you can have the awesome deal! Their sliced filet is cooked perfectly with awesome flavor. The Manhattan clam chowder is just tasty. And the dessert is standard but a really good portion. I never had dinner here but im sure its awesome!

Came here for lunch after a morning at MOMA. Got the munch special with the Manhattan clam chowder, chopped filet mignon with mushroom sauce, and the NY cheesecake. I've never had Manhattan clam chowder but it was really good. The steak was ok, nothing special. The cheesecake was creamy and good. Overall not the best steak meal by any means, but for the price is absolutely worth it.

Favorite steakhouse in NYC. I don't know where to start. The old school feel. The awesome service. The food. THAT steak sauce! Everything here is awesome. I make sure to make reservations every time I go as it does get packed. Coming here is always my favorite meal in the city. 3 of us came in on Monday night, my table all had filets, medium/medium rare and they were cooked perfect. Calamari to start. Mac and cheese, sautéed mushrooms and mashed potatoes as our sides - all delicious. And that steak sauce, I don't know what they put in it, but I need it bottled up and shipped to me! I'm not usually one to use sauce with my steaks, but that stuff is GOOD. I will eat every last drop. Thanks for another great dinner, til next time!

If you want to feel the pulse of Old New York, you go to Gallaghers. Established in 1927 by former Ziegfeld girl Helen Gallagher and Jack Solomon, it started as a Prohibition-era speakeasy. Even after transitioning into a legendary steakhouse, it has kept that "Runyonesque" charm, with wood-paneled walls and red-checkered tablecloths that have hosted everyone from Babe Ruth to Frank Sinatra. The Highlights: The Hickory Grill: Gallaghers is one of the few places left in the city that still grills over hickory logs rather than gas broilers. You can smell that deep, smoky aroma the moment you walk past the glass-encased meat locker on 52nd Street. The Prime Rib: While the New York Strip is their "claim to fame," the Roast Prime Rib is a massive, melt-in-your-mouth masterpiece. It's thick-cut, perfectly marbled, and served with just enough jus to let the dry-aged beef shine. Jumbo Shrimp: Whether you get the classic Shrimp Cocktail or the Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp (packed with crab meat and finished with mustard butter), the seafood here is world-class. The shrimp are consistently snappy, fresh, and large enough to require a knife and fork. A Touch of History: The walls are practically a photography museum. Keep an eye out for the photo of Jackie Kennedy (Jackie Onassis); she was a frequent guest, often seen dining here alongside other 20th-century icons. It's the kind of place where you aren't just eating a meal--you're sitting in the same booths where Broadway history was made. Pro Tip: Even though it's a high-end steakhouse, their 3-course lunch special is one of the best "bang-for-your-buck" deals in Midtown. It's a great way to experience the history without the full dinner price tag.

    Creamiest cheesecake ever!

Food: My niece and I went to Gallagher's for lunch during the height of the NYC holiday season. Every table was booked so be sure to RSVP in advance! We both loved our $39 three course lunch meal: filet mignon, fingerling potatoes, in a mushroom in wine sauce. Plus Brussels sprouts to share. We both had the cesaer salad appetizer. I finished with the creamiest cheesecake ever and she had the creamiest/richest ice cream! The food was excellent and well priced. The most important thing, however, is that you definitely try the dense brown bread that is served before your meal. It is a date, walnut bread that will knock your socks off! Service: This first thing I noted was that our hostess pulled out our table when she brought us over. This was such a nice touch so you don't have to worry about squeezing in sideways while others are seated beside you. I also noted that my custom Gallagher's steak knife was warm. That was neat! We were tag teamed by two waiters. Harry was our main waiter and he was quite friendly and attentive, also doling out sightseeing recommendations. Our food was well timed and without delay. Gallagher's knows how to handle a full house. Ambience: Music was playing in the background and it wasn't too loud. I wish we had time peruse the old time pictures on the walls of famous actors and the like. We overheard a conversation at the table next to us and actors like George Clooney on Broadway frequent Gallagher's. And recently the three actors from the play, Art, were in: James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris, and Bobby Cannavale. So prepare to be star struck!

Came here for an early date night dinner before heading to see a play. Gallaghers' greets you with a tantalizing display of various cuts of meat viewable from the entryway while waiting for your table or coatcheck and has the classic steakhouse atmosphere. We sat in the rear dining room with views into the kitchen where it was clear that the staff hustled through the early dinner rush. We enjoyed two rounds of wine and cocktails with our meal and enjoyed the fried calamari appetizer special. The calamari was perfectly crispy and salty (tentacles included) and served with a smooth tangy tomato sauce. The porterhouse for two was a perfectly cooked and solid portion for us and paired perfectly with the buttery, velvety mashed potatoes and crispy savory brussels sprouts. The peppercorn crust and au poivre sauce were also delicious but the real star condiment was the house steak sauce - I would've easily bought a bottle of it to enjoy at home. Our servers timed our ordering and meals perfectly and were the perfect facilitators of our meal. I could see them hustling through the bustling dining area but didn't feel like we were neglected at all. Would definitely recommend for a night out or special occasion.

It had been a while since I went to a steakhouse before going to Gallagher's, and honestly it kinda reinforced what I thought. Perhaps it is hubris, but I feel like grilling a steak at home (reverse sear) is going to yield similar results to a steakhouse if you invest in the quality of the meat - probably because a $75 steak at a steakhouse is probably only $25? of actual steak, while cooking a $75 steak at home means you can get a much better cut. We ordered a filet mignon and a dry aged New York sirloin. I ordered my New York sirloin medium rare, but it came out pretty much medium well. It was a thick cut and wasn't cooked super evenly, so some bites came out very chewy, and the middle was medium at best. It feels like the steak was overcooked and too chewy, and some of the fat wasn't properly rendered. Also, the dry aged taste was too overpowering - I've had dry aged steaks before but this was on the stronger side of the nuttiness. Overall I came away thinking that I could really have cooked a better steak. The filet mignon was solid, but overall not super impressed by the spot. It probably didn't help that service was rushed and our seats were cramped. We had to move our tables any time our neighbors wanted to get out of their seats, and vice versa. Probably wouldn't come back, don't think it's worth it.

This is exactly the kind of place that works well when you need something fast but still high quality. Service stood out. Jeanine was excellent; she quickly understood our time constraint, guided us to the right dishes, and kept everything moving without making it feel rushed. At one point we accidentally put a plastic menu over a lit candle, and she handled it immediately and made the moment feel light rather than awkward. The atmosphere was lively and full; the place was packed, but it still felt organized rather than chaotic. The bar looked well stocked, and the overall ambience worked well for a pre-train, Times Square-adjacent stop. Food was solid, with a few standouts. The salmon tartare with sesame crackers was excellent; clean, fresh, and well balanced. Jeanine recommended the shrimp avocado sliders, and that was the right call; they were outstanding. Happy hour oysters were fresh and well balanced. Littleneck clams were good, though slightly less compelling than the oysters. The fish tacos were good but not particularly memorable. Fried calamari was well executed, though the accompanying sauce could have used a little more flavor. The hot sauce, assuming it is made in house, was excellent and added a much better punch to the seafood. Drinks from the happy hour menu, including the Pink Flamingo and margarita, were good and consistent. I would come back to try more from the main menu. If you like seafood, this is a strong option for the price point and location, especially during happy hour.

I find it oftentimes to be overpriced, coming with a lot of bells and whistles and lacking in flavor compared to Little Thailand in Queens where I grew up. This place is an exception! From beginning to end everything was excellent. The pork belly was the perfect temperature of warm, tender, a bit acidic/sour (YUM), and so delightful. I can see why many reviews recommend it. The crab curry was so nice and clean and fresh. The crab was so tender, and the curry strong, and went beautifully with the rice. It's actually such a sleeper hit, and we added it onto our order last minute. The steamed branzino was delicious, too - tender, limey, sour, sweet, a little heat - it's got everything!! And it tasted so so clean. Beware! There are tiny fish bones, so be careful as you're eating it. The dessert was good too, and very authentic.

It was incredibly tender and comes on a heated tray so the Thai herbs and sauce stay hot. I've never had anything like this at any Thai restaurant. Service: 3/5 The service was inconsistent. The front door was open and it was cold. We asked a waiter to close the door and he said they had to leave it open. We saw the manager constantly closing it when customers would swing it open so we ended up asking him and he said no problem and closed it right away. There were so many waiters and waitresses crowded behind us just standing around, it was a bit awkward because they were right there 2 inches away. We also saw people get shrimp chips? We never got ours. Ambiance: 5/5 The ambiance is lively, trendy, and full of energy without feeling overly chaotic. The space has a modern downtown NYC vibe with colorful touches and a buzzing atmosphere that makes it great for group dinners or date nights. It's definitely a place that feels fun and memorable from the moment you walk in.

From the moment I entered the restaurant, I knew the experience was going to be next level. Thank you Jay for seating me and my friend at the best table in the house. Thank you to our phenomenal server Shamim. Your service was really over the top stellar. Soon as you sit at the table, menus are placed. Complimentary delicious bread, water, and warm hand towels are provided to clean your hands. The seafood buffet is $168 and you can order everything, as many times as you like. The buffet is contactless. The food is served to you at your table. Because the food is served in a manner that is based on a shared dining experience. All guests at the table have to order either buffet or Prix Fix menu. My order of Rockefeller oysters, and clams were simply the best I ever tasted. The way they were prepared is the only way I want to taste them. The next dishes they brought out were fried shrimp, sizzling shrimp scampi. Soft shell crab was cooked to perfection. My garlic butter Nova Scotia Lobster was divine. Cooked, and served to perfection! Next the sizzling sea bass was brought to the table! O-M-G! Within a second after arriving to our table still sizzling. Jose came to personally debone the fish (never had that done before) and he added the Thai chili sauce. At this point, my body was in a foodie coma! After a brief clean up of our table. I left our dining room, and went to the ladies room. When you walk in the ladies room, between the floral scent, and decor you are in awe of the details, the bathroom was dreamy. Back at the table our two servers set up a Picasso style dessert with hand drawn chocolate with the ice cream and a delicious cheesecake. Thank you for the birthday wishes, and celebration for my friend. José out did his self with his talented art skills. Special thanks to the Manager Sam for stopping by every table to see if everything was to our satisfaction. It was beyond our satisfaction. Tip: Make reservations even if your a party of two. Be sure all guests arrive at the same time. Tip#2: The upstairs level is perfect for large gatherings, corporate events, holiday events, bridal, baby showers, bar/bat mitvah's, and industry events.

LOVE the rococo inspiration. The opulent decor made me feel like I'm dining in a palace. Most of the tables are set up in private rooms too so you can have your own space for your feast. The all-you-can-eat menu is made fresh to order, not sitting out like a typical buffet, which makes a huge difference in quality. I loved the seafood selection: lobster, crab, shrimp, oysters, clams, mussels, octopus, fish, calamari ... you name it. What really stood out to me was how much variety there is. Even the steak, fried rice, noodles, lamb, and veggies were delicious. The service was super attentive and quick with bringing out dishes. The price is definitely a splurge, but worth it for the experience and high qualit. It's not just a meal, it's a whole vibe. I would absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable, over-the-top dining experience in Times Square!
