Definitely get on the waiting list online (on this very website!) and get ready for some cheesecake! It's a great spot that's not too bad price-wise for the Times Square area. There's a lot of staples from traditional delis. The meal comes with beets and vinegar-based cole slaw, both of which weren't my thing. I got the pastrami, where the meat was tender but the challah bread was okay, but I should have stuck with the traditional rye. She got a reuben, but it came with a relish-heavy thousand island dip that wasn't as expected. Still, both sandwiches were very meaty and priced as expected for these types of sandwiches. The real start is the cheesecake, so that made the whole trip worth it. They have a huge variety of all types of desserts. We went with the Irish cream cheesecake just because it sounded unique. It was tall, sweet, and nicely swirled with that Irish cream flavor and plenty big for sharing. I could see myself coming here just to share dessert. It was packed when we went, but service was still attentive. Tables are really close together, but they have to make the space efficient. Bathrooms were clean and I liked the Barbra Streisand/Frank Costanza sign identifiers. It's worth checking out - although there is another one a couple of blocks away, so I can't say which is better. Get some dessert to go if you can.
We stayed at the Hyatt Centric down the street, so we stopped in since Juniors is nearby. I know that Juniors is well known, but I didn't find anything special about the experience. We visited before the lunch rush, but before dinner, so the place wasn't too crowded. It's in Times Square, so it was still bustling with activity. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and my sister had the turkey club. She didn't like the turkey and said it didn't taste fresh. The grilled cheese was fine. The experience was typical for diner-style dining. That being said, I probably wouldn't visit Juniors again if given the opportunity. There are too many options in NYC. Our waitress, Brooklyn, was attentive and pleasant. And the restaurant was cozy and clean.
They are famous for their New York cheesecake so where else am I going to seek out this famous dessert? Here at Junior's. Unfortunately, for me it wasn't all the hype there is to get excited about. I wasn't wowed by the cheesecake at all. The cheesecakes I've had from Pappadeaux and Cheesecake Factory were more memorable than here. Other than that I'm glad to have visited this famous place.
Came for dinner this time I looked back at my reviews and I loved the breakfast so I would think of it more as a breakfast joint. Our service was amazing though and we got seated right away. We had a late night dinner, like 1130. Our server was awesome. I ordered a salad and had some custom things added to it which came out exactly as I wanted. I did not love their buffalo sauce that I had added to the grilled chicken, but their balsamic vinaigrette was a decent dressing. Their salad was massive and had lots of veggies. Overall, it was a fine salad, but nothing to come back for. For dessert, we split the brownie cheesecake. It was dense and cheese cake consistency was fine but overall, I've had better. I thought the mix of brownie and cheesecake together was good if you are into chocolate.
One of the best meals you will have in Times Square! I ordered the Something Different dish, which is brisket served over potato pancakes with mushroom gravy, with applesauce on the side, and it was absolutely amazing. The brisket was tender, the potato pancakes were delicious, and the mushroom gravy brought everything together perfectly. In my opinion, this is the best dish at Junior's, trust me on this one. Tony, our server, was outstanding. He was friendly, attentive, and took the time to chat with us about Brooklyn food and its history, which made the experience much more enjoyable. Yes, Junior's is super famous for its cheesecake, but I actually lean toward three other desserts as their best: the black-and-white cookie, their Hostess cupcake-style dessert, and the super moist chocolate fudge cake. I always come back for the brisket and those desserts.
So if you like or love cheesecake - this is a must nyc spot. However, if you want to go for lunch or dinner I would say it's more of a novelty spot than a foodie spot. It's overpriced and noisy so depending on the mood you're going for it may or may not be the spot to go. I will say service was rather quick so if you want something before a show and not risk being late this might be a good option. Service was okay but really depends how busy they are. Again not a bad spot but it's more like a glorified diner ambiance than anything else.
A must have NYC staple! Every time we visit NY we have to make a stop to Junior's. There are several locations in Manhattan, we tend to visit this location because they also have a large eat in area (smaller take out section in the back). We recently visited and happened to mention to the waitress that it was my birthday, I was pleasantly surprised when she brought out my red velvet cheesecake with a sparkler and they sang to me. My youngest son doesn't like cheesecake and still raves about the chocolate cake. My oldest son said the raspberry swirl cheesecake he had on our last visit was the best cheesecake he's ever had. That being said, there's something for everyone! Cheesecake, cake, milkshakes, you name it!

Not for me. Is it the perfect place to duck into when you've got an hour to kill before a Broadway show, need a break from the Times Square crowds, and want something sweet? Absolutely. Service was friendly and efficient. We stopped in for dessert and ordered the brownie à la mode. It hit the spot. Warm brownie, cold ice cream, no unnecessary twists or attempts to reinvent the wheel. Overall, Junior's Restaurant & Bakery knows its role and plays it well. Sometimes that's exactly what you want.
Hadn't been in years and this time I brought the kids! which made it that much better. First time actually sitting down and ordering from the menu and I was surprised by how expansive it is for a place most people only know for one thing. I went with the bacon cheeseburger juicy, delicious, no complaints there. It comes with steak fries AND onion rings which had me excited until I realized they were breaded. Not my preference, but the burger more than made up for it. The kids enjoyed theirs too so that's a full table win. Also worth mentioning the interior has this great retro diner energy, milkshakes included. Booths, classic setup, the kind of place that feels intentional about its atmosphere. Somehow I'd never noticed that before. And of course, I could not leave without a cheesecake to go. That part was non-negotiable. Junior's earns its reputation every time.
We have never been to JUNIORS for breakfast. The staff were very supportive and helpful and attentive. The food was plentiful. I wish the grits had come out first then my meal later. By the time I was ready to eat my eggs Benedict - it was cold. We did go next door to the bakery and bought a variety of cheesecake flavors to bring home!
Ok ok ok. I was not sold on this place from my memory of coming here a couple of decades ago but that was put to rest today. My daughter had a garden salad and the other had the Cobb. My daughter ordered a side of fries. Got to love steak fries. We also ordered the C-cheese burger. Everything was delicious. We had no room for the famous cheese cake.
It was late night and the place was crowded but we were able to still receive good service and the wait wasn't bad at all. I split the Cheeseburger D with onion rings/Fries with the Hubs. The fries were the steak cut kind, my fave and onion rings were perfect. My Onion Soup was also delicious and hit the spot. The three of us demolished the yummy silky smooth Strawberry Cheesecake. Overall, a great experience and we would definitely come back!
After the theater, my family and I like to come to Juniors. Yes, it's for tourists. Yes, the wait can be long depending on when your show gets out in relation to other shows. But, the place is hopping, it's friendly, the service is great and the food is actually quite good. Oh, and you can get complimentary pickles and slaw for the table while waiting for your meal. Last night, I got the garden salad with salmon. One person got the tuna melt and the other got the tuna scoop salad. Each of us enjoyed our meals very much. The salad was large and the salmon was well prepared - nothing fancy (I don't like sauces or rubs on my salmon), just a nicely cooked and moist piece of tasty salmon. The tuna in the scoop salad was delish, as was the potato salad and creamy cole slaw. We've never had bad or unenthusiastic service here. When my partner ordered the tuna melt, the server made a point to be clear that the bread and cheese would be hot, but the tuna would be cold. We appreciated that - I guess some people expect the tuna to be warmed when the sandwich is prepared. Cold was the way my partner wanted it. On the way out, my partner recalled that they had left behind at the table a souvenir drink cup from the theater we had just left. Someone had already been seated there and a worker (a man) asked if they could help. The man went to the back to look for the cup and then our Uber came. My partner told another worker (a woman) that we had to leave and, as we were walking out, I saw her running to the back to check on the status. We left the building and a few seconds later, the woman came out of the restaurant shouting "ma'am, ma'am" holding the cup. Honestly, I'm impressed. We all were and I think that's worth mentioning. The place is well lit, a bit loud, but the food is good, the staff friendly and responsive and I recommend it.

I'm staying in Time's Square and had to give Junior's a try:. I had the lunch special with a turkey sandwich and salad. The roasted turkey was delicious, and the salad was awesome! I also got a slice of strawberry cheese pie to go - highly recommend! read more
I am so in love with Junior's! I have tried their cheesecake before but how did I not know they serve buttery matzo ball soup and a Thanksgiving meal every night of the year?! I got a turkey dinner with fresh roasted turkey, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and vegetables. This is a dream come true! I love the turkey and stuffing! I also tried the bowl of matzo ball soup to go and it came with two matzo balls and some broth with noodles. It was so delicious and I'm so glad I can pick up dinner so conveniently in Times Square. Of course, dinner is not complete without a slice of cheesecake! I tried the cherry cheesecake and the depth of flavor was complex! Awesome! read more
Beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. I've been coming for years and have never had a bad meal or service. Extensive menu with something for everyone. My personal favorites are the giant deli sandwiches and the complimentary pickles. read more
Food was overall good. I'll be honest the pancakes were quite dry, I'm not sure what they are known for but I was hoping for more. My sister ordered the omelet which she said was very runny and the homer's were good. I will say the bacon was incredible but bacon is always good to me! Overall, breakfast wise I think it was just ok, nothing to rave about. Maybe dinner would be better? Service was great, but I went in the morning and not many people there so very attentive and very nice! (The side strawberries were $7 btw which is crazy since I asked if i could get a few on the pancakes and not knowing it was rung up as a side. Not a big deal at all but the price is crazy) read more
Always a must visit when in the big apple! What's not to like about going to Junior's for Cheesecake? Diner vibe, good menu, pricey, tourist will have no choice but give in. But the service is generally good and attentive. Conveniently located in the heart of the theater district, hours are good to head in and find a table to recap or relax after a day of exploring NYC. Analysis paralysis: Stick with Classic or Strawberry Cheesecake choices, don't stress, you are on holiday. These are the popular choices. read more
Most everyone knows about Junior's and their infamous cheesecake. This is the location I typically go to as one of my best friends lives just a couple of blocks away. Being in the theatre district, they can get really busy. I haven't really ever experienced any issues because of it either with food or service. However, I will say that the food isn't always consistent. I guess it kind of depends on the person(s) doing the cooking that day. When I say not always consistent, it's not terrible but just ok. The cheesecake if the saving grace. Where this would be a 3-star review as being "ok", the delectable cheesecake makes up for it. One other thing I like ordering is the baked ham deli sandwich. That's also pretty consistent. When I talk about things not always being on par, I am more referring to the hot cooked items like brekkie foods or dinner food. If you have never been to Junior's, I would still urge you to visit. For the love of the cheesecake if for no other reason. read more
Great spot for a snack or meal after a Broadway show. We stopped in for a cheesecake after a show at the Marquis theater. We got a plain and an Oreo cheesecake. The Oreo one was amazing! We were seated quickly and staff were friendly. The decor is very cute and has lots of Ciney Island themes. read more
Met friends here for a late lunch on Wednesday afternoon. The place whole is full was quiet compared to the weekends where I have passed by. We were quickly seated and our sweet waitress was fast and friendly taking our orders, bring water, and checking in on us regularly. From seeing the other tables, the entrees were large portion so my friend shared while I went for soup & sandwich combo. The good quickly arrived and everything was piping hot and looked delicious. I loved my matzo ball soup (slightly saltier than I expect) and the pastrami sandwich cones on a mini bun full of meat. It was moist and just enough. Everything was good so definitely would come back to try other items on the menu and definitely do the cheesecake. My fav is brownie with cheesecake or red velvet cake with cheesecake. read more
The New York Deli is a vanishing breed, but Juniors Times Square still rolls the tradition with great food, full bar, and their epic cheesecakes! Even if they call it "restaurant." Shhhhhh... When a see a deli where they still give you pickles, coleslaw, and beets? Nostalgia comes rushing in. They do ask if you want a corned beef on rye toasted, which would have constituted heresy in the days of the great American Bard of Broadway, Damon Runyan. He was famous for quipping: "There are two kinds of people in this world: those who go to delis, and those with whom you should not associate." This location is also well known for being right in the heart of the Broadway District and a popular place for people to come before or after a show to get a bite to eat. The cheesecake is particularly notable for Afters. The original restaurant is in Brooklyn, but they have two on either end of the Broadway theater district. Both are outstanding. read more
When my BFF visits New York City, this is always a stop in her itinerary. I love the cheesecake. She loves the dine-in and retro vibes. The pickled red beets, tangy dill pickles, and spicy coleslaw complimentary appetizers keeps coming to the table (if you ask). This is apart of the traditional dine in experience that makes Junior's stand out (and the cheesecake more on that). This visit I enjoyed the BLT on toast with mayo, ripe thick cut heirloom tomatoes, crispy bacon, and thick steak cut fries. I loved the Jamaican Rum Punch. You can't leave without the cheesecake. It's rich and creamy. I prefer the carrot cheesecake because it's like you're getting the best of both world. Great customer service, extremely accommodating. The wait was long, but it was a party of five, during the busiest time of the year, in the Theater District. Seriously I was thankful that they were able to accommodate such a large party. One of those rare NYC icon chains that is actually very very good. The cheesecake itself is super creamy and fresh and the added fruits are plentiful and fresh as well. We got the strawberry and blueberry and both were really good! read more

When you're exploring an area, you have to try those foods an area is famous for and named after. For instance Boston Cream Pie, California Roll, Maryland Crab Cakes, Key Lime Pie, Maine Lobster, Louisiana Hot Sauce, and so on. We had just finished a Broadway play and wanted to grab some dessert. Lo and behold a neon sign hailed "Famous Cheesecake". None of us really knew what "Famous" meant, but we knew there was a style of cheesecake called New York, so we sauntered on into Juniors to find out about its Famous dessert. First, the location is perfect for a before or after show snack as this location is just steps from many theaters in the district. The restaurant has a huge capacity with outdoor tables and two (?) take out counters. Casual, and bustling like a theater diner should be with efficient helpful service. We asked our servers and hostesses questions about the origins of each dessert and learned about the central baking facility along with the age of most of the recipes. We appreciated the servers accommodating our group of food nerds. Plain Cheesecake - Rich and decadent and almost buttery with a unique soft crust. The texture was smooth and melted in your mouth. Strawberry Shortcake - Thick light cake with whipped cream and side of strawberry topping, which was good for dipping the cake and much better than expected. Banana Split - Big bowl of chocolate vanilla and strawberry ice cream a fudge or chocolate sauce. To be shared. Carrot cake Cheesecake - Three layers of carrot cake and thick layers of cheesecake intertwined. Great cheesecake layers but the carrot cake had little carrot and was more reminiscent of a rum cake with raisins and nuts. Not disappointing but not the rich moist carrot cake I was hoping for. Overall, a convenient stop if your catching a show, and I can see why they describe their desserts as "Famous" read more

Food: 4 Service: 4 Ambiance: 4 We hadn't originally planned to eat at Junior's during our trip, but since we were staying in the Times Square/Theater District area, we decided to drop in after a show when we were hungry. It was pretty busy -- not surprising for the location -- but we were seated quickly and helped right away. The service was actually surprisingly great. Everyone was friendly, fast, and very efficient, which made the experience even better. The food is classic diner-style comfort food, but honestly, it was really delicious. We ordered the calamari, the pastrami sandwich, and of course, their famous strawberry cheesecake. We enjoyed our time here so much that we actually came back a second night for dinner. The atmosphere is lively, the food hits the spot, and the customer service is wonderful. Highly recommend if you're looking for some good old comfort food with lots of energy around you. read more
Food was great with large portion sizes. Everyone on our table seemed to be happy with each of their meals. I got the Reuben sandwich. The corned beef was tender and sliced thin. My younger son got the brisket melt and said it was really good. Our waiter was nice. Things started off great but the we didn't see him for a while. Another waiter came out to bring us our food and our waiter didn't come back until after we ate our food. We had to ask him to refill our drinks, which were all empty or close to it. After dinner, he asked if we wanted a dessert and we said maybe just one slice of cheesecake to share. He said he knew what to bring out for us but then forgot he had told us that. So after waiting, he asked again if we wanted dessert and I said "I thought you were bringing out your recommendation." He said, "Yes, I know just what to bring. I'll be right back." He returned with a plain cheesecake and a strawberry topping on the side. The dessert was great but just wished it had come out sooner than it did because we had already been waiting for a while. This is a touristy spot no doubt but honestly I loved the cheesecake. It's kind of expensive but if I'm craving cheesecake I would go here again. I just got a slice at the cafe next door to the sit down restaurant and ate outside. Was a nice treat before seeing a show. The original wasn't too sweet or dense and had a very nice pronounced cheese flavor. Would honestly recommend for non tourists too if you like cheesecake. read more

Do you sell frozen cheesecakes? I'd love to take one home but I'll be flying and I wouldn't want it to spoil.
We have frozen 8" plain and sampler (4 flavors in on box) cheesecakes at our Brooklyn location. You'd just need to request a frozen cake with one of our staff.
Can you order lunch anytime? Like during breakfast hours
If I'm not mistaken you can order lunch at any time, but not breakfast items at any time.
Does Juniors have a gluten free cheesecake option?
Hi, Cassandra. We have cakes that have no gluten such as our No Sugar Low Carb Plain and the Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake. Please be aware that our cakes are manufactured in a facility that processes gluten products regularly.

Do I need vaccine proof to be seated? Friends and I are visiting and didn't know about the new rules and none of us have our cards or any kind of picture proof we've been vaccinated
We were not asked for a vaccine card when we went to Junior's, though we did sit outside
How can I make an advanced reservation online?
Not sure they are offering it. We were there in May - walked in and got a table with no wait. Until Broadway Shows are back (in September) they probably aren't as busy as usual and there's no need for reservations.
Wondering how to join the waitlist since you don't take reservations. Was told on the phone that YELP has a waitlist but I can't seem to find it. Would love to have dinner there but no one seems to want our business?
We visited Juniors around May 25th, they weren't very crowded so there was no wait, we just walked in and got a table... had great food and great service.
