This is a must eat at destination, every time we come to Manhattan. We enjoy dining at the bar - yes, even for a full course meal. The service is attentive and the bartenders are great at conversing. We started with the raw oysters and tuna tartare. We split the chopped salad and for our main course - the Porterhouse for 3. Served alongside a loaded baked potato and creamed spinach. Always served hot and to perfection.

For 18 people. Wine was nice.

Had a reservation for two tables of eight, and we were accommodated nicely. Our waiters and servers worked well together. The wine selection was large. At my table the salads and apps were hardy and presented well. We like the oysters. I had the Wolfgang salad as an entree. It was plenty with pieces of steak and shrimp, tho the green peppers slices tasted over powering. I would remove those. The Yellowfin tuna steak was plain. A sauce would have given it more flavor and a nicer presentation. The sides were delicious and feed five. For desserts, we shared the chocolate mousse cake, the pecan pie, and the hot chocolate sundae. The noise level was perfect where we were seated by the corner window. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Wolfgang's Steakhouse 234 W. 42st. St. New York, NY 10036 Porterhouse for two Jumbo baked potato The nearly empty dining hall in a prime location on a weekend evening explains a lot. The taste and tenderness of the steak was overall good, but my previous experience another steakhouse was a lot better and lighter on my wallet. And that location also served you the entire potato! The irony about this restaurant is on the one the menu selection was limited; all choices were on a single sheet. On the other hand, their wine menu was like a book. ‍ If you plan to go here, don't leave home without your charge card because you'll definitely need it. #wolfgangsteakhouse #timessquare

Even though I am not a big red meat eater, I have been to many steakhouses - mostly because they're a favorite to host educational dinners. Wolfgang's, though, was one that I had never been to before - though one of my friends loves it and has been often. We had just finished having a few drinks and was looking for some dinner when she suggested we go - there were tables available here at the Times Sq location, so off we went. The original Wolfgang's is located on Park Ave in Manhattan, and they have since grown to several locations in the NYC area as well as some outside the US. Times Square is the armpit of NYC and I try to avoid it at all costs, but due to convenience (and table availability) we chose here. To be honest it wasn't that bad because it was a little down 41st so not in the thick of the crowds. The architecture was interesting - it had a really contemporary design with a full glass front that you can look into from the street; it didn't really have a warm presence like I'm used to at other steakhouses, but it wasn't offensive. The menu has typical steakhouse fare with a good selection of apps, steak cuts, non-beef options, and sides. We decided to start with the crab cake which was served with a small salad and a tasty aioli; the crab cake was good and not overly bready - the star was prominent. We also got Caesar salad which was perfectly fine - dressed well and tasty. We decided on the porterhouse for two for our main, and also ordered a side of German potatoes. We got the beef medium rare and it was cooked well - I could tell the beef was high quality and it was so tasty that we didn't need the bottle of steak sauce on the table (I know, I know - good steak doesn't need sauce). The German potatoes were almost hash-brown style with crispy bits scattered amongst the carbs - they were quite good. For dessert we got the hit fudge sundae which is a perfect steakhouse finisher IMO - well, that and cheesecake. Service was good - the wait staff made sure we were taken care of and food came out at a good pace. Overall, I had a great first experience at Wolfgang's - I can see why this is a popular spot and would definitely return - but maybe not in Times Square ;-).

The space itself is great. Fairly modern, spacious, and carries that classic steakhouse vibe you'd expect. I was here with friends, and honestly, it should've been a solid experience just based on that setting alone. But the food and service really didn't live up to the name or the price tag. Our server came across more demanding than welcoming, barely said a word beyond the basics and gave zero follow-up once our food hit the table. It was almost like we were bothering them by being there. Things got noticeably colder the moment we said we weren't ordering alcohol, just still water. That kind of energy is hard to ignore. We had the Wolfgang's Salad and Crab Cake, and not a word of explanation was given about how either would be served. Not that it's a huge deal, but for a place of this caliber, you'd expect at least a little guidance. The steak was another story. We ordered medium-rare, and what came out was more like well on one side and medium on the other. Based on other reviews, seems like if you want actual medium-rare here, you'd have to order it medium. I honestly had to laugh. I know this spot has a big name and reputation, but based on what we had, my friends said they've had better at Empire, and they had one only two days prior. I don't doubt that the quality is there when everything is done right, but from how we were treated to what we were served, it just didn't land for me. Disappointed more than anything.

Hanging out in New York enjoying the fast city lifestyle and I needed a pause and Wolfgang Steakhouse was the perfect place to wind down and enjoy an exceptional meal and a cocktail. The hospitality was amazing they catered to my every need. I ordered bone in Ribeye and it was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful. I ordered the Wolf cocktail and it was just what I needed for a midafternoon relaxation moment. Elegant, clean modern restaurant a great place to relax and break bread with friends and family.

    Here's to an early celebration!

YUUUMMM. A classic and always consistently flavorful. Of course the service is superior and the ambiance is gorgeous. The staff are friendly and professional. Super diverse and know how to take care of their customers. The steak was cooked to perfection (chefs kiss)!

I went here for a business dinner. There were 15 of us in total. We made a reservation. We had a nice table in the corner for all of us. The service was top notch. I wasn't in the mood for steak, so I ordered Chilean Sea Bass and Garlic Spinach. Very good. Despite it looking like a small portion in the photo, it wasn't. It was very filling. This location is in Times Square, so it attracts lots of tourists. The person seated next to me got a filet mignon, and it must have been 20 ounces, it was huge. Everyone at our dinner loved their meals. I loved my Chilean Sea Bass. The service was excellent. Overall, a great meal.

I had a really nice time here. The service was immaculate and I felt that the waiters tending to my table were extremely nice and consistently checked my table throughout the night to make sure we were ok. The food was very good. I loved the crabcake appetizer and found it to be huge and didn't include a lot of filler like breadcrumbs. It was true lump crab. The steak was cooked to perfection. Wolfgang's salad was very hearty and delicious. I only wished the lobster Mac and cheese had a bit more lobster in it. Overall it was a good experience.

When previous reviews said 3 stars I assumed no way! This must not be associated with Wolfgang Puck!!! I should have listened... everything was blah from the plating to the food itself. Crabcake a tad dry, lamb chops served on a plate with no garnish or sauce. Very strange to me at this price point in such a competitive environment. One saving grace was we sat at the bar and the bartender did a great job and the brussel sprouts were the highlight of our meal....said no one Ever until now!

I knew I should not expect anytime from this place. It was one of the must go steakhouse for anyone visiting New York from Korean. Came in because of a birthday dinner request. Wanted to give a try again, even the previous experience was not good Service was Excellent, so 2 stars giving to the service Ambiance was alright, classic American steakhouse Ordered Medium rare for our steak, big portion, but steak was not chewable at all... this is a big no no for a famous steakhouse , especially in nyc , we have so may different steakhouse options, Wolfgang should improve this over years. Taste was ok, their signature sauce was alright, but non chewable steak?? No! We were in a rush, two people , ordered steak, 2 glasses of wine, side of raw tomato and onion, $260 with 20% tips? You can have better option in nyc with this price .

    Rib Eye Steak

The brand and reputation intrigued me and was quite disappointed. While the service was fine, and about average for attentiveness, I would expect more for about a $400 tab. The ribeye was nothing special and cooked unevenly. Very nicely crusted on the edges but too chewy in the center with lots of fat rather than marbling. The tuna tartare was good but how can you really screw up raw tuna?!? The tomato and avocado slices were a nice touch. I'm was expecting more for the lobster bisque but much too soupy without the creaminess and thickness one should expect from a quality bisque. The few fresh pieces of lobster were nice but not night to redeem the meal. Service was good but the atmosphere was loud and mainly from older clientele who seemed to be hard of hearing since everyone wanted to talk loud. Strangely, of the 3 of us dining, 2 needed sharper knives for our steaks. That's either a testament to how tough the steaks are or how dull the blades may be. Or a combination of the two. Either way, I'm not a fan of Wolfgang's. So many better options across NYC especially for the price and experience.

Honestly, not sure how to rate this. I feel like this place is on par with most huge steakhouses in NYC, and I should give an objective rating based on that, but something about it was not as satisfying. A lot of the dishes we ordered were just good, not great. The oysters and shrimp were solid - nothing to complain about, and the wedge salad was pretty good with the blue cheese dressing (though the presentation just looks like a deconstructed burger without the buns and patty). The porterhouse was pretty soft and tender and had good flavor, but since our party was large, we ordered a Porterhouse for 10. So the staff tried squeezing as much of the steaks into 3 plates, which didn't leave a lot of room for additional grease and juices to marinate with the steaks. A lot of the sides that I typically enjoy with steak (asparagus and Brussels sprouts) were a little soggy rather than crispy, and I struggled to find much lobster in the lobster Mac and cheese. Wolfgang's is overall an okay experience, but with all the appetizers, steaks, and sides we got (along with ~20 beers) I would have to say the $2k bill + tip did not seem so satisfying

We showed up and the place was buzzing with a line out the door. I checked in at the podium and hostess said table will be ready in 5 minutes. 2 minutes later, we the hostess to our table. Looking around everything was the old classic/stereotypical ideas of a what a great steakhouse should be and it did not disappoint. Sal was our waiter, he was friendly, professional and one look we could tell we were in the more than capable hands and nothing would be amiss. For dessert, the legendary cheesecake with coffee and the baked Alaska. It was the perfect ending to a great meal. They came over and put it together for me. I appreciated that given a table for two, for how much we ordered, it'd never fit. Totally would return. If you like French food, this is a solid spot to try.
