black truffle creamed spinach and mashed potatoes
    Cindy L.

Chose to come here for dinner before a musical, very easy to get to from Grand Central. Solid choice but I thought it wasn't worth the outrageous price. I came here by myself and spent over $200. FOR JUST ME. I did want to treat myself but it ended up being a bit disappointing given the price. My server, Marcel, was very nice and I loved that the chef brought out the food, it's nice to get to recognize them for all their hard work. The bread wasn't as good as I thought from reading other reviews. It was warm but felt a bit hard to chew. I immediately knew I wanted the wagyu when he told me the specials so I was excited when it came perfectly cooked. There was definitely a crust on the outside that was packed with a lot of stuff including pepper and I think I tasted some truffle (before I even ate the spinach)? It was a good texture and pretty tender too but I felt like the flavor was a bit subdued. There was a decent fat cap at one end that I had to work to avoid. The truffle creamed spinach was really good. It was pretty balanced until I came across one randomly HUGE slice of truffle, but overall it was still good. My favorite part was the mashed potatoes. Perfectly creamy and smooth and had an almost cheesy taste to it that was fantastic!!! Best part of the meal. I shouldn't have gotten dessert because I was so full, but I got the key lime pie anyway hoping that it would be a refreshing palate cleanser. My favorite part was how absolutely LOADED with meringue it was! I definitely ate more meringue than pie which was fine with me. The pie itself lacked that tangy bite to it, it was creamy but didn't have enough of that refreshing citrusy flavor I was looking for. Overall, it was fine, I loved the decor and vibe and the idea but the food left a bit more to be desired especially with how much I had to shell out for it.

Strip House continues to be one of my favorite places in the city for a great steak, and this was my first visit to the Midtown location on West 44th Street. It absolutely lived up to the reputation. I sat at the bar, which is a great option here, and started with their Strip Tease martini--smooth, well-balanced with a fig twist, and a perfect way to start an evening. For dinner, I ordered the 14-oz dry-aged New York strip with bordelaise sauce, along with the Strip House potatoes. The steak was expertly charred, rich, and cooked exactly as ordered. The bordelaise added depth without overpowering the meat, and the potatoes were indulgent, cheesy, and satisfying. The crowd was a polished mix of loyal regulars and Midtown corporate executives, reinforcing its reputation as a go-to destination for after-work drinks and dinner. This location opened in 2012 and is the second New York outpost for Strip House, following the original Greenwich Village flagship that debuted in 2000. The space has that signature Strip House vibe--old-world glamour meets modern sophistication. The sultry red interior, walls lined with black-and-white photos of 1930s burlesque stars, and classic jazz playing through a great sound system create a relaxing atmosphere that works just as well for business dinners as it does for a night out. If you're looking for a classic New York steakhouse experience with style, consistency, and excellent service, the Midtown Strip House delivers.

StripHouse has a cute speakeasy ambiance and the walls are decorated with classic photos. Great photo opportunities The best part of the meal to me - was the server. His enthusiasm, professionalism and recommendations were the highlight of the meal. This was also told to the manager on duty As for food- the oysters were shucked nicely, the Caesar salad was bland - even though it was accompanied by an egg and anchovies. My steak was cooked to my liking & I enjoyed the suggested steak sauces. The best dish of the night was the creamed spinach, definitely order this side & it's shareable. The chocolate cake was good too, huge, not dry and served cool Would rate this a 7/10 experience

3.5/5 I had an overall OK experience at this restaurant. The reason why I can't say I had a pleasant experience was because of the wait. I had reserved through google for a party of 3, 8:30pm on a Friday. We arrived exactly on time and were told that they would call us when the table was ready. We stood at the entrance (to be fair, they asked if we wanted to wait at the bar but we still would have had to stand) for 45 minutes, even with a reservation, until we were seated. This alone soured our experience even before we started eating. We had a porterhouse for 2 and 4 sides. The complimentary bread and butter are good and the bread comes out warm. I did find the pretzel bread a bit too salty but it was not a big issue. They refill the bread at no cost if you ask, which was very well appreciated. The food was good but nothing was excellent in my opinion. The steak needed more salt, and I rarely say this about food in New York since most things taste pretty salty to me. The au poivre sauce we ordered ($8) helped, but the amount of sauce they give you is not that generous. The Mac and cheese side was quite large but it was also underseasoned in my opinion. The meat itself was fine, it was not as tender as I would have liked but was still quite good. The ambiance was good, it is quite loud due to all the talking, but it wasn't an issue. Service was good and attentive. It was an overall OK experience, but at almost $300 for 3 people, I would have expected a bit more (but that's the usual experience at a steak house in NYC, I guess?)

Damn I mf love this place. Old New York is what comes to mind. Quintessential New York. I felt like I should have had my 3 piece suit on while smoking a cigar, maybe in a fedora too. I was looking around for the ghost of Frank Sinatra. Dim red lighting, old pictures cover the walls, well dressed servers, etc. The energy in here is amazing, and the service was top tier. They had me feeling important in here. Came here for my birthday dinner with my parents, so I was going CRAZY. We got the caesar salad, thick cut bacon, wedge salad, porterhouse for 2, sides of mac n cheese and fries, and a butter cake to finish the job. The porterhouse was everything I could ever want in a steak. A tender, buttery taste with a slight char on the outside and a pink center. Damn I'm getting hungry typing this at 8:28am. If you don't think porterhouse is the best cut of steak you can go and swallow a cactus. My death row meal would be a porterhouse for 2 and some shoestring fries. No better way to go out. This and Wolfgangs are my favorite steakhouses in NYC, but I may give Strip House the edge because the ambiance is much better. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

We ordered the porterhouse, but it was cold, dry, and didn't taste good at all. The flavor was disappointing, definitely not worth the price we paid, and I wouldn't come back.

From the staff to the food, we had the porterhouse steak for 2, asparagus , baconed pastrami , and 1000 layer potatoes. Each more delicious than the next. Delicious , and well worth the prices

I wanted to treat myself to some fine dining for my birthday. After researching, I decide to go to Strip House Steakhouse. I love a good steak and this restaurant was within walking distance from my hotel while visiting NYC. I made a reservation that same day, 8:15 on July 4th. It was not crowded, which is what I prefer. The restaurant had nice aesthetics and was dimly lit for an intimate experience. I ordered a cocktail; the passionfruit margarita. It was very good. I opted not to get any bread because I didn't want anything to ruin what was to come. Knowing me, I would have gotten full off the bread. For my appetizer, I ordered the roasted bacon. For my entrée, I ordered the dry aged New York strip medium and the truffle creamed spinach. I was undecided between the goose fat potatoes and strip house potatoes. At the waitress recommendation, went with the latter. For dessert, of course I went with the signature 24-layer chocolate cake. I was so full and very satisfied, I had it boxed up to go. I haven't eaten any yet, but what's not to like about chocolate cake. The waitress planned to present the cake with a candle but I was just too full. She was sweet enough to placed the candle in the to-go bag. Bacon: I enjoyed it, but honestly, it reminded me of the steak bacon from the Original Pancake House, but with sauce. New York Strip: Loved it. She let me know in advance that there was a peppercorn crust. Again, loved it. Creamed spinach: I'm not big on creamed spinach, but with it being a popular menu item, I had to try it. 5 Stars Potatoes: So good. Think twice baked potato without the peel. I must say the experience was a great one and the food was excellent. The generous portions made it worth the price.

Wow. This is an amazing dinner.

Love , love , love this place. The ambience is so cool. The burlesque pictures on the wall , the red velvet decor it''s so retro cool. The service by Thomas was on point. His recommendations were excellent and on point. The porterhouse for two is made for three and the pepper crust is amazing. The house potatoes are a must have as well as the Oysters Rockefeller. The chocolate cake can feed a family of six. This is one of my top favorite steakhouses for all these reasons.

My girl's night the other Friday was so perfect that I had to come back last night for an early Valentines Day dinner and treat my husband. I raved how good everything was last Friday so needless to say, expectations were set pretty high. First off, we arrived like 25 mins. early last night and they seated us immediately. Also gave us the best booth overlooking a glimpse of the action below. Terrence was great, thank you! Buffy immediately greeted me and recognized me from last week and said Alyssa would be taking care of us. Alyssa was INCREDIBLE! Honestly without her super warm and attentive service, this updated review may have been lower than a 4. Alyssa was definitely above 5 out of 5. Thank you so very much, Alyssa. Truly one of the very best we encountered living here in NYC! Started off with a glass of Rose Cremant from Alsace while my husband had a 9 oz Argentinian Malbec. Both great. Bread and butter comes and it was yum, thanks for the additional pretzels! We also enjoyed the bacon appetizer, perfect with that honey mustard dip. The French Onion soup arrived but noticeably smaller size and a different bowl/container and not as cheesy and good from last week, that's okay. But the reason wht this isn't a repeat 5-star from last week is because the Wagyu Steak Frites is where it fell flat. My husband's medium preference came out medium rare and my supposedly medium rare felt rare. That and it lacked salt. Like they seemed to have forgotten to put salt. I ordered an au poivre sauce and even with it, it couldnt compensate for it being underseasoned. My husband was trying to get some salt from the pretzels to put in his steak. He specifically asked me to not complain or ask for salt to not offend or be seen as wanting to be comp'd. So I ate 65% and was asked if I wanted it to go and I just said no it's okay. So I'm not sure what happened in the kitchen. I actually felt somehow bad because my husband said, you said it was really good. Oh well. Too bad I couldn't control the consistency in taste and quality of the steak, right. ;) Desserts came and we were excited for our 12 layer chocolate cakes. But we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious Cheesecake too. We ended up finishing it and taking the chocolate cake slices home. Still tasted divine when we enjoyed it today. Will emphasize that I'm still a big fan and especially commend the team and the service esp. Alyssa, Buffy, Terrence etc. I just wish the Wagyu steak wasn't a let down last night.

Overall we had an amazing experience here and delicious meal Started with some wine, they had an extensive selection which was nice because we had some people with varying tastes We ordered wedge salads which were excellent and higher quality than many other steak houses I've been to. It was my favorite part of the meal. We all got proteins and split sides for our main dishes. We tried almost one of everything. The mac and cheese was a must! And so were the mushrooms. Sometimes fish can be a miss at a steak place but these were top notch with such great flavor- if you had to get one the salmon was our favorite. Steaks were all cooked to perfection with LOTS of peppercorn on the outside. A few people at my take didn't like that but I loved it! Personal preference We did wait around two hours for our main dishes to come out. We were a big party on a Saturday so we understood. Some people had to run out because they made plans three hours after our reservation time and thought we would be done by then. We also didn't get some sides we ordered until we were already done with our meal so we had to send them back which was disappointing. The staff knew the kitchen was backed up on our order so they took them off the bill no problem which was super nice of them Something to keep in mind you will be dining for a while but it makes sense with the quality of food and number of tables The staff was really professional and kind. I wouldn't say I'm running back here but it was a great meal!!

I sat at the bar, since it was only me, but tho the bar wasn't busy and service was friendly, it was very slow. The food was wonderful! I'm glad I made the choices I did, tho of course nothing I wanted was included in the happy hour specials. The fried calamari was some of the best I've had tho it was observed with a little bit of cocktail sauce and a huge thing of tartar sauce. I'm sure I could have gotten more cocktail sauce, since I don't like tartar sauce, but it wasn't necessary. The calamari was so good. The lobster bisque was delicious and the picture can't show you that it was full of lobster. There was a LOT more lobster than a lobster bisque normally contains and the price was about normal for a lobster bisque with one tiny piece of lobster. The iced tea was a bit out of control. If I'm going to be charged $5 per glass of iced tea, that glass should be larger than the ones they use AND not 90% ice. That much for a glass of ice with a splash of iced tea is extreme. I'd still return, since the food was wonderful and hopefully I just got unlucky with the service.

Everything came out in a couple minutes or less. The size of the restaurant created a cozy and comfortable environment along with that the light created a soothing atmosphere.

Hand cut. Not run through a blender. The closest to the nest that I've had in Paris. Ambiance: 10/10 Steak tartare: 9/10 Pomme fritte: 7/10 Service: 10/10 Don't get me wrong these fries were good. Better than all the others. Not quite good as in Paris. It was a joy to eat here. And I feel like I've finally found a place that compares to Paris. I made a reservation to be safe, as many restaurants now ask if you did so. This place is quite packed every night so it was the way to go. I came here for dinner post showtime and my son and I over ordered but happily enjoyed everything. I think our eyes are way bigger than our stomachs. Starters: - French onion soup, au gratin, was perfect. Great onion profile and lots of it. Not overly salty so that was good. - Beef tartare, classic French bistro staple, must order this. The portion was quite generous and it was delicious. We couldn't stop eating it. The petite toasts were a nice accompaniment as well as the raddiccio salad - cheese board, IYKYK, I never met a cheese I didn't like. This board was matched with nice pairings. Think grapes, fig jam, and marcona almonds. The cheese were a classic French variety - bleu, comte and brie. For our entrees, my son opted for a sandwich and I got the steak. His croque Madame was really delicious. The bread, the ham, the baked cheese and the fried egg was so savory. Yummy. My steak was a sizeable portion but I purposely ordered the bigger ounces since I know we'd share. Fries are nice and skinny, perfectly seasoned. Our waiter was attentive and I asked for the table next to us given all the food I know we were getting. He was not sure if he could accommodate but I insisted he check with management. They came over and put it together for me. I appreciated that given a table for two, for how much we ordered, it'd never fit. Totally would return. If you like French food, this is a solid spot to try.
