We tried the tableside tacos, and while it was nice to watch them being prepared right in front of us, the experience itself was pretty brief. The server came over and spent a few minutes making them, but in my opinion, it wasn't worth the price for what you get. We also ordered a steak that came with an onion filled with sauce, which I wasn't particularly a fan of. Unfortunately, the salad we ordered didn't impress us either. Overall, the meal was a bit disappointing. We were hoping for a more memorable dining experience, especially with the tableside preparation, but none of the dishes really stood out to us. For the price, I expected a little more.

I walked into Cuerno with no reservation on a Tuesday night and was seated within 10-15 mins. The ambiance is sensational. The music is loud, yet the restaurant feels so inviting. The wait staff was extremely attentive and brought food rather quickly. I need to come back and give this place a try. I ordered the ribeye taco (recommended by the waiter) which was just ok. I also ordered the salmon (decent), and the corn that accompanied it wasn't my favorite. I need to return to try other tacos and perhaps the dessert.

Rib Eye con Tuétano. 28 oz for $139. Unfortunately, a bit chewy/dry/rarer than medium rare, but nice flavor

Recommendations- Tacos Callejeros, Puré de Papa, Sombrerita I was at this Mexican-inspired steakhouse with a group of others a while ago. For how big the place was, the inside was jam-packed, so it was quite loud. Our table was in a slightly dark area, so my photos didn't come out particularly well, but oh well. The food overall was good, but I preferred the steaks and especially the atmosphere at the newer, quieter Amasa. To drink, I went with the Sombrerita for $22, with Manojo mezcal, Flor de Azar (a triple sec), jamaica, and lime. The drink had a fun presentation, with a tiny sombrero, a hibiscus rim, and sea salt. The flavor was also nice, with a good amount of smoke from the mezcal along with some citrus and a light floral note. I would recommend it. For food, two of us split a bunch of dishes, and once we all ordered, they gave us some chips as well as a few different salsas. The salsas ranged from mild to one with a pleasant kick, with my favorite being, I believe, a salsa matcha, as it was nice and smoky. It was a good mixture and a nice way to start the meal. Our shared appetizer was my favorite bite of the night, the $32 Tacos Callejeros, consisting of four tacos made with a butcher's choice of premium cuts, fresh cilantro, and onion, with some salsa verde on the plate as well. The meat on the tacos was juicy and beefy, and the tacos themselves were a bit thicker than normal, which I was fine with, as they probably would have fallen apart otherwise. The salsa verde helped reduce the richness and added more spice. Outside of it obviously being messy, this was delicious, and I would recommend it. Our main dish was the Rib Eye con Tuétano, a ribeye norteño-style with pepper, garlic, bone marrow, and salsa piquín limón. They offer either a 16 oz version for $89 or a 28 oz version for $139, and as we were splitting, we got the latter. Along with some other dishes, this had a tableside presentation with the roasted bone marrow scraped over the steak. We ordered it medium rare, but we both found it a little too rare, which made the steak a tad chewy and tough. For that reason, the best part of the steak was not the meat itself, but rather the spice mixture, which was a bit disappointing. Possibly, we caught them on a bad night, as others enjoyed their entrees. We otherwise got two side dishes, which were both $15. The Puré de Papa, or potato with Grana Padano, truffle, and crema de rancho, was better than expected. I've never been a huge fan of truffle oil, but they didn't overdo it, and the potatoes had a nice texture. The weaker one was their take on Esquites, consisting of charcoal-grilled corn, olive oil, lemon, butter, and Grana Padano. It was a bit soupy, which made it closer to some of the carts I've been to, and the flavor was only just OK as well, as I wish it had a bit more heat, and it lacked a bit of citrus. Overall, the sides were decent, and the price was good for a steakhouse. If I were to come back here, I would get a different entree, such as the barbacoa or short rib. I loved the taco and drink, found one appetizer good, and the steak was unfortunately a bit tough and chewy. I'm still going to leave a 4, as I think we caught them on a bad day.

Have been to Cuerno a few times now and really love the food! They start you with some really good chips and dips with the most fabulous homemade dips. For tacos we love the steak taco, and then bone marrow ones as well. They have really good steaks along with sides like the corn and mashed potatoes. I also tried their beef soup which was very delicious as well. My husband loves their drinks, definitely recommend to check those out. The staff are very friendly and we are usually always seated right away. Definitely check this place out if you are feeling some authentic tacos

We were excited that Cuerno was opening in NYC, but a little concerned. In general, we have found that incredible Mexican upscale restaurants that expand in the US lose some of their magic as it's very difficult to replicate the Mexican dining experience in the states. Cuerno in MTY is in this gorgeous area of SPGG and has the best Arracherra I've ever had in my life - not even debatable. The NYC Arracherra felt like a different cut of meat (i dunno, possibly flank and was oversalted) and was much chewier and didn't match the MTY version. That said, it was fine. One other small difference is in MX it's customary to bring out tortillas with the dish while they looked at us a little strange when we asked for tortillas! Anyway, I did think the ribeye taco was excellent - not quite La Buena Barra in MX or Este in ATX but it was def a must have there for sure. The papa asada was also pretty good and although it was a bit more americanized/upscale instead of the delicious mess in tinfoil that is more traditional, I get it and enjoyed it very much. Chips and tortillas were all good and the decor of Cuerno is beautiful! Tip - make sure to sit on the main level as the basement is not the same vibe at all. Food presentation was very pretty of course! Service was okay, but much more disconnected and that is always the largest difference between the MX & US versions. While I am not a fan of the midtown area (50/6th) I can see how it's very convenient for tons of folks and def attracts more of an after work crowd / biz dinners. Hard to recommend as it's not really indicative of the group's MX restaurants. They're Japanese restaurant Ryoshi is really good and so is Mochomos.

Cuerno was really impressive. You would never think, that from looking at the restaurant from the outside, you would experience what it presents. However the interior has high ceilings, the decor is tasteful, and each sitting location is comfortably separated from other patrons. The service was very slow, but I'm going to chalk that up to their very busy lunch crowd. I started with, arguably, the best tasting Mocktail I have ever enjoyed. It was called, Brisas de Jamaica (Hibiscus, agave, lemon soda). This drink had the optimal amount of sweetness, each sip was refreshing, and the hibiscus/salt rim was amazing. The complimentary chips and sauces were much appreciated. I've never had this many choices of sauces and they went from sweet to spicy. We dined from their prix-fixe lunch menu and it was the perfect choice. We chose the following: Ceviche Regio (Fresh Halibut, serrano, leche de tigre, agave honey, crispy chicharron, charred tostado), Verduras al Grill (Charred seasonal vegetables, house dressing), Salmon al Piquin (Grilled Salmon, snap peas, roasted onion, rice, mostaza piquin salsa), Camarones al Ajillo (Grilled U/8 shrimp, roasted zucchini, rice, garlic, chile guajillo). The Ceviche was pleasantly spicy, the Salmon didn't require a knife to cut through, and the shrimp were large and well seasoned. This Mexican Steakhouse is highly recommended and I'll gladly return, for future memorable meals.

This is not your traditional NYC steakhouse. We wanted to try something new and we were not disappointed. Our waiter was excellent and very knowledgeable of the menu and flavor combinations. Two days have passed and I still find myself missing the salty crust on the steak. Amazing flavor with the tenderness of the meat. We tried shared a taco based on the waiters recommendation and wished we had ordered more. Great taco!!! The complementary salsa and chips is good and there is a variety of levels of heat with the salsas. Being first timers we were even given small complementary prickly pear margaritas. Cuerno exceeded our expectations!

Cuerno had been on my list for a while, and it definitely lived up to the hype! The restaurant has a beautiful upscale atmosphere that's perfect for a date night or special occasion, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We started with the complimentary chips and four different salsas, then ordered the Guacamole, Chicharrón de Pulpo, and Coliflor Trufa Habanero. The biggest surprise of the night was easily the cauliflower. I never expected a cauliflower dish to be one of my favorites, but the smoky, truffle, and habanero flavors worked so well together. It's an absolute must-order. For our mains, we shared the 52 oz Tomahawk, Taco Taquero, and the Beef Short Rib. Without a doubt, the Taco Taquero was the best dish of the night. The tableside preparation with the fire-roasted bone marrow made it such a fun experience, and the flavor was incredible. The tomahawk was cooked perfectly, and the short rib was fall-apart tender with amazing flavor. To finish, we had the Pastel de Campechanas, which was unlike any dessert I've had before. Overall, every dish was memorable, and although Cuerno is definitely a splurge, it's well worth it for a special occasion. We'll definitely be back!

This place is great! Located in midtown, this is a go-to corporate lunch spot. The prix fixe lunch menu is pretty affordable at $39. I've been here twice in the last week, and it was great both times! The service was quick, and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. They also have outdoor seating. The food was excellent! The esquites were really tasty. I didn't care too much for the guacamole, but my tacos were really good. I would definitely come back here and try more menu items! We also got a dessert...beware! Our pastel was MASSIVE and delicious!

I came here during my three-day stay in NYC. I was recommended this place by a friend, and I am so glad I came. I was exhausted from walking around NYC and the food here satisfied my appetite. First off, the service was wonderful. Our server Alberto was so welcoming and kind. He made sure we had everything we needed. Secondly, the restaurant itself is beautiful. The seats were so comfortable I felt like I could fall asleep right there! And of course, most importantly, the food was filling and tasty. My favorite part were the chips; I really liked all the different salsas provided. I enjoyed two cocktails, tortilla soup, beef tacos, and one "Taco Richi". I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 because I was confused on the menu. I am used to going to get Mexican food and the orders are simple, but I do understand that this is an upscale restaurant and there are different components to the dishes.

2nd time here, first time for a weekday lunch. It was fairly busy even for lunch. What was disappointing was that the food took so long - sat down at 12:20 and our entrees came down 1:40pm. The food is delicious but the wait makes me 2nd guess whether I'd have my business lunches here. Crudo: delicious and flavorful Ribeye a la sal: comes with roasted garlic, I liked this maybe as much as the other ribeye Pomelo Brilliante mocktail: refreshing

Cinco de Mayo at Cuerno~ Best Meal in NYC! Its been awhile since we spent a few days here in NYC. We came here for our anniversary (CInco de Mayo) and to see the Broadway play Death Becomes Her. So, when searching for the best Mexican restaurant, Cuerno came up frequently. High ceilings, beautiful interior, comfortable seats, and so much more. Seated at a huge round table that could fit 3 more, our friendly server came over and we ordered some cocktails. Well, I had a beautiful Sparkling Rose from Mexico----I know! Mexico makes some really nice wines:) My husband had the classic Margarita to celebrate our Anniversary and Cinco de Mayo. Let me just tell you the food was probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to. It is also a Steakhouse too. To start, they bring over a few salsa dips along with thier Homemade chips. Some were better than others as well as the heat meter (some more mild than others), but I personally loved most of them if not all. Their Guacomole is amazing! We also ordered their grilled corn (Esquites) and a Taco Taquero. Everything was amazing including the Coffee. I think we were so full so we opted out of dessert. If you have never been here before I highly recommend checking it out while visiting NYC. You will love it!

WOW!! I felt like a celebrity as soon as I walked in! The staff was super friendly and professional. The manager was very attentive and helpful. Even though we didn't have a reservation, she was able to get us a table. I believe her name was Devin or Devon. We had the tacos with the big bone..holy smokes, they were fantastic!! The vibe was very chill, and the music selection was great. Definitely coming back!!

Lunch at Toloache yesterday is Lori's favorite meal so far, and tied for me with Kanyakumari. It's…read morea contemporary upscale Mexican bistro located at 251 West 50th Street in the Theater District of Manhattan. Founded in 2007, and led by chef-owner Julian Medina (who grew up in Mexico City and trained in prominent New York kitchens like Maya and Pampano) along with Chef de Cuisine - Fidel Rodriguez, and Sous Chef - Julian Medina. They have real Mexican food like huitlacoche, and Oaxacan-style seasoned grasshoppers. There is a dedicated guacamole and ceviche bar, and a wood-burning oven. The name toloache is Jimsonweed, a flowering plant in Mexican folklore said to be brewed into a love potion that guarantees anyone who drinks it will always return. For drinks, Lori had the Paloma De Pepino - Gran Centenario plata, cucumber, grapefruit soda, lime, and I had the Margarita de la Calle - Maestro Dobel Diamante, cucumber, jalapeño, lime. Both were excellent, and perfectly balanced. Toloache has one of the best guacamoles we've ever had, and they made it fresh and customized it for us. Cilantro tastes like soap to Lori, and each of the three guacs listed it. Also there is a mild traditional, fruta medium, and rojo spicy. We wanted traditional but spicy, and without cilantro. That's what we got. The accompanying chips were better than most as they were the perfect size, not greasy, and strong enough to not break. With the guacamole came a Roasted Tomato salsa that was spectacular. It has roasted tomatoes, chipotle, onion, cilantro, garlic, and a "secret ingredient". It is medium spicy. I'm going to try to figure out how to make this one. Lori loves Fajitas, which are course Tex-Mex, but they make it with Prime NY Strip Steak, and it is amazing ... and huge. Two could share this for lunch. I had the Enchiladas Borrachas - pulled chicken, tomatillo-5 chiles salsa borracha, Mexican cheeses, crema, and avocado-radish salad. This was a delight with great layers of flavor - smoky, moderately spicy, slightly tangy, with a lot of richness from the cheese and crema. The shredded chicken was tender, savory, and relatively mild, mostly there to carry the sauce. When you eat this, be sure to put a slice of the enchilada on your fork, and then with your knife scoop up sauce and pour it over the bite. It's so flavor-packed. We LOVED Toloache, and highly recommend it.

I noticed a few people standing outside the restaurant waiting for a table and were less prioritized due to no reservation. Ordered Platos Fuertes Carne Asada, and Frutas Guacamole. Unfortunately I do not remember what my friends ordered but they did order tacos and noted how bold the flavors are and how delicious they tasted. Guacamole was not too spicy, but perfect. Carne Asada dish was smoky and savory. Overall, recommend!
