It's a very cute spot, if you have a lot to catch up on with your friends, I would recommend here. But, the food is overpriced and simply, not good. Macarons are very cute but it's so tough, I have never had macarons this bad, I even bought a lot to gift my friends and all of them didn't like it. The pandan crème brûlée is very small and it's quite expensive, it tastes ok. Service is good!
tl;dr the worst part about these deliciously unique treats is that you need to let them cool down before digging in Vancouver's dessert scene encompasses a wide spectrum of pan-Asian treats, and one hidden gem is the creme brulee-centric Crackle Creme. This dessert cafe has been bringing personal-sized creme brulees (ranging in flavors from standard to exotic, like Saffron & Orange Blossom) and kawaii character macarons to the Chinatown neighborhood for nearly a decade. The cozy cafe is warmly lit with wood and grassy motifs. The slatted checkout counter straight ahead is decked with a tiered display of all macaron varieties. The letterboard creme brulee menu sits atop a minifridge to the left, while an L-shaped walnut-brown counter runs along the window and wall to the right. Soft contemporary pop is intermittently interrupted by the hum of a blowtorch. My partner and I visited Crackle Creme for weeknight dessert, and we were one of the few patrons. We ordered an array of mini creme brulees that sounded interesting. Each custard was served in a small ceramic bowl with a crackly, freshly blowtorched shell. Our favorite was the rich, sweet Milk Tea, but the flavor-forward Vietnamese coffee was a close second. The Black Sesame was no slouch, either, sporting a deep, almost nutty, decadence. The service was friendly and efficient, and each 4-oz creme brulee ran just over $5. For sheer uniqueness, Crackle Creme's creme brulees are worth a visit; for quality, they are worth seconds.
I've been here a number of times. Very tiny place with a few counter stools but the staff is always super friendly. This is my go to place for creme Brulee as they always have a good variety of flavors and always super cute macarons. Kids / people who like cute things would probably appreciate this more. Happy to see this place is still in operation after so many years.
I was introduced to this dessert cafe by a friend. They specialize in two things: character macarons and creme brulee, and also coffee and tea beverages. The creme brulee comes in an assortment of unique flavours. They have both regular and vegan creme brulee, and the vegan flavours are just as interesting and varied as the regular flavours. I got there a little early, so while waiting for my friend to arrive I had a Thai jasmine iced tea. This was really good - the rich creaminess and sweetness of Thai tea with a strong and fragrant jasmine green tea instead of the usual red. Once my friend got there, we ordered creme brulee. I got the vegan durian and she got the lychee yogurt flavour. We sampled each others' creme brulees and both were delicious! The lychee yogurt creme brulee tasted just like lychee yogurt bubble tea and even had coconut jelly pieces inside. I didn't notice a big difference in consistency between the vegan and non-vegan creme brulee. Really friendly staff. The shop is a little small, and unfortunately does not have a customer washroom, but there are some stools along a counter inside (with hooks underneath for bags and coats) and a few seats outside. This stretch of Union Street is one of the quieter commercial streets in Strathcona/Chinatown, and I would happily sit outside here on a nice day.
I must have reviewed this place before but doesn't matter as they deserve mad props. The best creme brûlées with tons of different flavours - we had apple pie, black sesame, salted caramel and passion fruit (vegan). All really good. Flavours change regularly. Also have lots of cute macarons. The shop is CUTE as heck. Tons of cute plants and decorations with minion, totoro themes and macaron decorations everywhere. You can't miss it!!
Mango coconut vegan crème brûlée is now my favourite!!! Coffees and lattes are pretty but not that great. My black sesame latte was actually lukewarm when I got it but I figured I was taking it home to warm up anyway. Seats were not AS uncomfortable this time but maybe because we had been walking a while. Appreciated the hook underneath the counters for wet umbrellas and small purses. Kind of a drag that no obvious bathroom is available for customers.
A very cute little cafe with adorable delicious treats. They have a wide variety of desserts and drinks to choose from. The macaron displays were very cute and you could see how much detail was put into each one. The person working inside was very friendly and was able to recommend different things for us to try. He was the only person working that we could see and he was kind enough to make sure that we had everything that we needed. The Ferrero Rocher creme brûlée had the perfect brûlée on top and cracked very well with the spoon. It was full of delicious chocolate creme and I'm very glad that I had the chance to try it. The strawberry matcha had a very nice strong strawberry flavor, but it was to the point where it over powered the matcha and the drink was more of a strawberry milk than anything else. The overall experience was fantastic and it would definitely be worth it to go back and try some of their other desserts.
Located in a small strip of shops off the Main Street, Crackle Crème has an artisan vibe that has the quality to match. The strawberry matcha oat latte was delicious and the creme brûlée was made with a perfect texture. The person helping us was really nice and even though you can only sit along the wall in bar style fashion, our party of 4 had no issues.
Some of the best macarons I've ever had , aside from in Paris! Light, chewy, not too sweet - delicious. My favorite was the earl gray (eeyore). I'd like to come back and try more flavors.
This little cafe is well known for their anime character macaroons. I have been there twice for coffee after my visits to the nearby restaurants. I tried the cute macaroons and they all tasted yummy. The interior of the cafe was tidy and well organised. The anime macaroons were shown in the display box. Many customers went there for the macaroons and kids definitely love them. The latte was nice. Personally I wanted it to be stronger.
Such an adorable place! The service was incredibly quick and the staff was nice. There is outdoor seating available. I got the ferrero rocher creme brûlée as well as the matcha macaron. I ordered that flavour because I saw that many people have ordered this in reviews I've seen online. In hindsight, I would've ordered something different since I'm not a huge chocolate fan but I was so pleasantly surprised. The creme brûlée was delicious and had a good crack. I got it to go and it gets torched in front of you. The more I ate it, the more I enjoyed it. It's nice that you get to keep the sweet little mason jar. The macaron was good but nothing mind blowing. They are super cute though. Would come again for another creme brûlée flavour!!!
Finally visiting Vancouver, and this was one of our first stops. Located at the edge of Chinatown, it's a small shop with a small seating area in the inside and a few seats on the outside. When we went, there was a good amount of people waiting for food, as well as a small line. It looked to be a one-man show: one guy taking all of the orders, prepping the orders, and handing out the orders. He was very efficient with his methods, and would reasonably multi-task at times. Overall, the wait was not that long, and everyone was happy with their orders. Very impressed. We ordered the milky oolong drink, croffle, and four macarons. The milky oolong was good; no qualms here. The croffle was good, too, though you really want to eat that in the first 5 minutes of receiving it; we took two bites immediately after getting it, and it was yummy. But we waited to finish the croffle around 5 minutes later; it was still warm, but getting to the point of stale/chewy/upper-mouth trauma. Still good. Macarons were one of the main reasons why we visited this place. I have a favorite place in Irvine (Calif) that I compare all macaron places with, and this one isn't bad at all. The bake on these macarons are excellent; they're just a little too sweet for our palate. I ordered a vanilla, salted caramel, oreo, and coffee, and couldn't distinguish the vanilla or salted caramel very well. Coffee was like a punch to the taste buds; very distinctful. I'd be interested to get a few other flavors if we're in the area again and have the munchies. Overall, impressed with this place, and would come back!
To be fully transparent, I'd be compelled to give Crackle Cream five stars purely on the cuteness factor alone. HOWEVER, it's not JUST how adorable the macarons are that warrants the high rating, as the desserts here (macarons and creme brûlées) are tasty as well! Of the crème brûlée and macarons, I'd say the macarons (lavender and coffee) were probably my favorite thing. With flavors so distinctly packed into such a small item, it was very happy! They have two crème brûlée sizes, the regular, smaller size was more than enough for me. We tried the following flavors: Salted Carmel, Organic Earl Grey, Malted Chocolate, Organic Hojicha, and Honey Lavender. The one I thought would be my favorite, the Honey Lavender, was indeed the only one I really enjoyed and would order again. All around it was a great experience and the perfect last stop during my most recent visit to Canada!
We stopped by after lunch and picked up a dozen. It took some time to make decisions. They're so cute and delicious. The only one that wasn't our favorite was the lavender but we had to get it because Totoro! Highly recommend coming here! We were visiting from Portland, OR and it was definitely one of the highlights. read more
Small cozy Vietnamese coffee shop on the S edge of Chinatown. Their logo needs a bit of work - I wasn't sure if the place was called Crackle Creme or Crack Lecreme. Parking is available but limited on the side streets. The place is pretty small. Fewer than 10 seats, all of which are bar style. Most of the seats face the window, but some face an interior wall. There are also a couple of tables outside. There are quite a few house plants, which does bring a bit of serenity and peacefulness to the place. Staff are friendly. No complaints. The Vietnamese ice coffee I had was pretty good. read more
We were waiting for our dinner reservation, so my party decided to find a nearby café to rest our legs -- and stumbled upon Crackle Crème in Chinatown. They specialize in crème brûlée and macarons, with a full lineup of drinks as well. The crème brûlée was so good that we had to go back for seconds. With so many unique flavors on the menu, I honestly wish I could try them all. - Dulce de Leche Crème Brûlée -- light and well-balanced; the custard was whipped almost like a mousse, with a beautifully caramelized, delicate crust - Thai Thai Crème Brûlée -- not too sweet, wonderfully herbaceous with pronounced cardamom and star anise notes; same silky texture, just as good The shop is on the smaller side, with a few outdoor seats and a couple of high-top chairs by the front window. Inside is super cute -- decorated with plants, small knick-knacks, and a colorful macaron display case. Random, but I especially loved the plants with their bulbs sticking out of the dirt! Service was incredibly friendly and our crème brûlées came out quickly. They also have a complimentary water station, making it the perfect spot to chill. If I lived in Vancouver, I'd definitely be a regular for the cozy vibes and eclectic crème brûlée flavors. read more

A definite YES!! Cute little hole in the wall coffee shop on the edge of Vancouver's Chinatown. My son and I walked over for dessert after having dinner around the corner. We tried the salted caramel and vanilla bean crème brûlée and they were melt in your mouth delicious. Loved the crunchy crackly top! We both agreed the vanilla bean was the best! He had the creamsicle macaron and I enjoyed the lavender. Will definitely bring my 14 year old daughter here - she'd love it!! The staff were quiet but super helpful. The shop was clean and very busy. Great place to visit at the end of the day for a unique dessert and tea. read more

Wooooow. We were looking for a dessert spot in the area and are so happy that we stopped here. We ordered the Ferrero Rocher and Earl grey creme brulee. I was so surprised that they were only $5 each. Both had amazing flavors. I was wondering if the flavors would be very light, but the taste really came through and were so good. I was very impressed. We also got the salted egg yolk macaroon and black sesame. These had extreme detail and the salted egg yolk was my favorite. There is limited seating, maybe 10 stools inside. Creme brûlée is one of my all time favorite desserts in the whole wide world. If I see it on a menu, I have to order it. Imagine my thoughts when I walked into the Crackle Creme and saw so many variations of creme brûlée. I was like what?!?!! I cannot just get one no way. I thought for sure I'd try the hojicha, but then the black sesame and Vietnamese coffee were calling out to me. Then the sweet lady points out that the hearts on the board indicate employee favorites. Final choices were excellent: pandan coconut and Vietnamese coffee. They were very flavorful, the custard was silky smooth and both were topped with a perfectly thin crispy caramelized sugar layer. The Vietnamese coffee crème brûlée is served with a touch of condensed milk on top of the caramelized sugar. Can't wait to try more flavors. read more
You'll find a ton of different creme brulee flavors here, both standard and rotating/limited flavors! Luckily, we had a huge group with us and everyone picked a different flavor to share. Everything is pre-made and stored in the fridge but the sugar layer is torched fresh. Out of everything that I tried, my favorites were the honey lavender and earl grey. Both lavender and tea flavors were strong enough but not too overpowering. The custard base was soft, not too eggy tasting (I've had some bad ones where it just tasted like eggs). The sugar shell was so satisfying to crack and was nice crunch texture to the soft custard. Highly recommend if you're in the area! There's so many flavors that you're bound to find one that suits your preference. They also have a bunch of macarons in cute shapes which you can bulk purchase for a cheaper price. read more

I'm not a huge dessert person, but I do love cute things so I tagged along with my friends to come here so I could see their macarons in person. This place is known for their creme brulee, and they have a huge selection of flavors. Since we had a pretty large group, we decided to each order a different flavor and do a mini tasting. Unfortunately, I don't remember all the flavors I tried from my group, but the one that had stood out to me the most was the Apple Pie. I ordered the Earl Grey for myself, but I didn't find it to be anything special. Again, for me the main attraction was their macarons. They were so cute and looked even better in the box than in the shelf! While nothing really stood out to me in terms of taste, I have no regrets getting these. Overall, great place to stop by for dessert and for the novelty of seeing some adorable macarons. read more

Crackled creme is a beautifully decorated cafe that has the cutest macaron designs with unique flavors. I ordered the Susuwatari(dust mites) from Totoro and it was sesame flavor with actual black sesame on the top. There's an opening to the right of their cashier where you have full visibility of how they design their macarons. During my visit, they were decorating Kaonashi ( no face) from Spirited Away and seeing their creativity and patience was so wholesome. read more
I loved the coziness of this small cafe. The macarons are beautiful works of art from animated films, mainly ghibli movies. The thai milk tea was sooo delicious. And the brown sugar creme brulee was magnificent. The creme part wasn't too thick or thin, same with the shell. It also wasn't overly sweet. The pistachio macaron didn't really taste like pistachio but still good. read more
If you love creme brûlée, you're going to love this shop. Small seating area inside with some seating outside. Water is provided and you bus your dishes after you finish. There's a ton of flavors for creme brûlée and I ended up getting white chocolate rose, honey lavender, and pandan coconut. All the flavors were on point and exactly as described. The custard is light and creamy and the sugar coating on top is crispy and done fresh. Highly recommend getting a group to try all the flavors or just sample them all! read more

When I first heard of this place from my friends, I was expecting the typical 4-5 different flavors of Creme Brulee available - I was honestly so shocked and SO excited when I walked in and saw the huge list of unique and interesting choices! - PARKING - Looks like street parking only, and it gets pretty packed during peak meal times! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - There are a few small tables inside the shop and 2 larger picnic tables outside. They have a display case of all the Macaron flavors (which is also very extensive in comparison to most small shops) so you can see what cute design correlates to what flavor. The staff members are super quick to prepare your Creme Brulees and bring them out to you. - DESSERT - Vietnamese Coffee Creme Brulee: They pour condensed milk on top to mimic the Vietnamese Coffee combo which I appreciated, but it definitely took away from the cracking experience. Still, once mixed together, it had a wonderful Vietnamese Coffee flavor, and the condensed milk definitely added to it. Our friend group shared a bite of each flavor and the standouts were - Salted Caramel - Apple Pie The ones I didn't like so much: - Honey Lavender - Pandan Coconut (this was quite bland) The macarons themselves were OK, but the designs are definitely what gets you! They're so adorable and it was honestly so hard to not buy them all. Out of the three flavors I picked, Passionfruit was my favorite. Watermelon was a bit weird in macaron form, and Salted Caramel was light. - OVERALL - Definitely a nice spot for dessert after dinner! Love the fact they even have Vegan flavors available! read more
This spot is tucked in and less noticeable if you're not looking. Great little jars of creme brûlée for you to take away. They also have adorable character macarons if you're looking to gift something to a fellow sweet tooth. COVID protocols: I mean I never really dined-in to enjoy any of my orders-- I usually order on the spot so that I can enjoy these sweets at a park/picnic. Easy line formation that starts at the door with employees wearing masks and providing hand sani. My order: -hojicha 5/5 - earl grey 4/5 - original 5/5 Creme brûlée is such a classic treat but I love the different infusions that happens here. My favourite is the hojicha because I'm a huge fan of all things green tea. I find it's not too sweet and the perfect crunchy top. Great fun and delicious creme brulee. We enjoyed trying different flavors and watching the blow torch in action. Seating was minimal and the outdoor bench left us a little uncomfortable. That said, we'd come back for more! read more

Being in Colorado, I have never heard of a dessert place that specializes in Creme brûlée and holy cow- this was the bomb! I'm upset I didn't have time or stomach space to consume every thing from the menu. My favorite was the Ferraro rocher Creme brûlée. I'm not a big chocolate fan but that's my favorite chocolate and in a Creme brûlée form was even tastier than I could have ever imagined. Other flavors I tried include durian and black sesame. Both were delicious as well. And all of them aren't too sweet which is always a bonus. I'm also glad they had a vegan option for those that can't eat lactose. I'm one of the individuals that never listen to my body's reactions to dairy but the durian was vegetarian and it was so creamy. Hello Ferraro Rocher, never knew I needed this flavor of creme brûlée until I saw it on a menu. It's the best dessert I've ever had. It's a small place with cute decor of plants and some seating as well. When I came in the first time around 7pm, there were a few people but not super full. I loved the minion art and the little water available with plants in the dispenser. We ordered the Ferraro rocher and the vegan Durian one. Durian flavor is strong and amazing, creamy flavor and not too sweet. I came back a 2nd time for another Ferraro rocher (you can see which one is my favorite) and a black sesame which reminded me of try the gray stuff it's delicious. It was so good too. We were trying to kill some time before dinner, so we made a pit stop at Crackle Creme. Small coffee shop with desserts, looks like their specialties are creme brûlée and macarons. There were SOO many kinds of macarons here!! The display is in the front, so you can see all the different characters and flavors, such as Winnie the Pooh, Pokemon, Totoro, etc. We grabbed a white bear one (strawberry) and Pikachu (mango) one to try. I really liked the strawberry one - super fruity and refreshing, but wasn't too much of a fan of the mango one - tasted a little too artificial for my tastes. We also got some coffee too, my boyfriend tried the Vietnamese Coffee, while I had the Lavender Latte. His coffee was on point - tasted like the usual Viet coffee you would get back home in San Jose! :) Condense milk always hits the spot, perfect richness and creaminess. Mine was alright, I was surprised at not being able to taste the lavender at all. Just tasted like any other coffee/latte. I was bummed out that we didn't try any of the creme brûlées, especially since there were so many unique flavors that I've never seen before. Definitely sounded like other people there enjoyed it though! Would definitely come back to this cafe - cute desserts ALWAYS win my heart! read more
Walked across this place on a rainy day. Had the perfect afternoon--bought the hojicha tea and a macaroon and just sat by the window people watching. There is a huge assortment of macaroon flavors. Each of them had a different cute character design! The taste was ok, but the design makes up for it. I also tried the durian creme brulee. The first few bites were pretty good, but it's too sweet to eat the full dessert on your own. The shop is super cute and the staff were quick to service. Great place for a casual first date. read more
Such a cute dessert spot in the heart of Chinatown. Stopped by after dinner. I was enamoured by the cute macarons and the cute designs but ultimately decided on the salted caramel crème brûlée. Loved watching the top get torched right in front of me. The dessert was nice and rich but not too heavy or overly sweet. I like how there was seating indoors and outdoors. Will have to come back to try more flavors! read more
A cafe devoted to Creme brulee and macrons who can ask for more??? I ordered the Pandan coconut and the Mango coconut (vegan). The pandan was fabulous. Perfect creme texture and not overly sweet. My husband wasn't a fan of the vegan version. He said it didn't taste like creme brulee. Which means, we recommend the normal flavours. They have 10 to choose from. Such a great concept! Will be back in the future! read more
