    Beignets with chocolate sauce
    Sonia K.

Went to visit for their annual beignet festival; beignets are made fresh to order so there will be a bit of a wait. Three sauces for you to choose from, they tasted amazing with chocolate sauce. Not too oily and maintained great texture even after sitting for an hour!

We usually go to the Thierry in downtown but this time we went to their Mount Pleasant location which is surprisingly spacious! They have a lot of places to sit indoors but also had a couple of outdoor seating options. We just quickly stopped by for a drink but then got intrigued by their chocolate hazelnut croissant. It was sooo good and decadent! Wish it was bigger. We also got their strawberry matcha, honestly, I had high expectations considering it was Thierry but the matcha was a bit too strong and didn't blend with the strawberry at the bottom till I was half way done with the drink. Their mocha was amazing but there were no surprises there! The staff were nice and pretty fast, the cafe was pretty crowded when we went but they still got us everything in just a few minutes after placing the order. I'll definitely come back to this location given their spacious seating.

Visited the mount peasant location, it had plenty of seating inside and was very spacious. They had a large selection of cakes and dessert. The earl grey bergamot cake was delicious. The earl grey was subtle and the bergamot taste was not over powering the flavours. The cake was not too sweet and light. The hot chocolate was rich with heavy chocolate flavour and beautiful art on top. The tiramisu is also a favourite at thierry. Cute place for a date or late night dessert spot (they're open until 9pm).

Such great pastries every time we visit Thierry! We have tried multiple items including the black forest case, hazelnut chocolate danish, pumpkin tart, and chocolate marquise. They have all been stupendous! The service has been prompt and friendly and the vibe inside is upscale and cozy. We've loved everything we've had there and will definitely be back!

Their desserts never disappoint. Lots of seating space and wide variety of cakes and drinks. The spiked Spanish coffee was a bit sweet. They told it wasn't a sweet drink. I would prefer something less sweet to go with the desserts.

I fell in love with the Lemon Tart at Thierry Ambleside and promised myself I would order it whenever next we went to Thierry. We hardly ever go to Thierry but as fate would have it, we happened to end up at Thierry Mt. Pleasant not long after Thierry Ambleside. Ordered the Lemon Tart just like I promised I would, and we ordered a Tiramisu as well.  Sooo yummy!  For some reason, there was a lady handing out free macarons to us that night. Wonder if it was an end of day thing. No complaints though!

Came for one treat, got two. Will be back for a third. Friendly staff, lots of seating. A well-designed space that doesn't feel crowded, even when busy. You're greeted by a sweeping counter full of gorgeous-looking cakes and confections - a feast for the eyes, which may be too big for the stomach. The treats: - Mango Tart. Colourful but disappointing. The coconut crust/base was rock solid and hard to cut into. The swirl of mango pieces rested in a lime sabayon. Loved the zesty freshness of the lime, but it overpowered the mango flavour. In a dark room, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a lime tart - Black Forest. One of the popular Thierry choices. A small mound of light cream on top of a meringue core with a bed of sponge/cake nestled in chocolate mousse and a hard chocolate shell. There's a lot going on here. Maybe too much. Tricky to get each layer on the fork for that perfect bite. The brandy-soaked cherries helped cut through the richness, but do dominate the flavour. On that point, it IS quite rich so might be one to share (though admittedly I eat it solo immediately after the Mango Tart which may have been a rogue decision...but choose your own journey). Both my selections were a bit disappointing for the price, but I may just have been unlucky. Will return to try out the pastries and chocolates. And probably work my way through their impressive looking selection - one at a time from now on.

Thierry is a must-visit spot known for its heavenly chocolates and pastries, especially at their place on Mount Pleasant. It's got a relaxed French vibe and a chill atmosphere, perfect for hanging out. Whether you're eating in or grabbing something to go, their treats are always a hit for any occasion. Their chocolate pastries and desserts delight, especially when paired with a coffee or a refreshing beverage. They never fail to impress! Choosing a favourite is challenging because everything is delicious. I could easily list all their treats from the menu, from the Pistachio Latte to the Tiramisu Cake, Spanish Latte, Chocolate Trio Cake, and Chocolate Marquise. This is my go-to spot for hanging out with friends. Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: Eatery Kids: 4/5 Yay! Price: less than $30 for two (Dessert) Presentation: 3/5 Parking: 2/5 has underground parking for customers. Tips: * Opens early in the morning to serve fresh pastries. * Can order online and pick up in-store. * Is recommended to arrive early to avoid long wait times for a table, especially during peak hours. Would I Return: Yes

Thierry Mount Pleasant is the second location of the esteemed French patisserie, chocolaterie, and café Thierry. Ambience is something that reminds of aesthetics a decade or so ago with stone works and dark laminated paneling and trims, maybe conveying chocolatiness, With ample of lighting percolating through, the space becomes lively and very enjoyable. Service however.was so so as they got my orders messed up. After some dialogue, the correct order was fulfilled. Staff was very gentle. By far one of the best Marzipan Croissant and Tiramisu I had in Vancouver GVRD. Prices are on the higher end of the scale...... But highly recommended.

Super classy Parisian patisserie and cafe. The sprawling display of pastries on the backdrop of dark wood panelling is very impressive. Even the bathroom is beautiful and high tech. The acoustic inside is pretty boomy and it can be hard to hear anything when it's busy, which seems to be often. I've mostly tried the pastries here, but my one foray into the savoury menu with the butternut squash soup did not disappoint. The soup was silky smooth with a delicious herby crumble to top it. For pastries, the most memorable so far are the caramel hazelnut tart and the lemon tart, but I have so much left to try that I may have yet to find my absolute favourite. You will need a sweet tooth to really enjoy their pastries. They have good teas too. It seems like they're often slow getting the Viennoiseries (croissants, etc) out in the morning when they open, which is annoying because these are the things I want to eat at 8 am, not the cakes! I've showed up a few times hoping for a quick morning snack and had to walk out because they only had desserts ready and I don't like to take this gamble because if I'm going out in the morning I'm usually on a schedule. However I like that they're open late and still have many options available in the evening. Also they lost my tea order once... they made a new pot for me right away when they realized, which didn't take too long, but I had to stand around for a while. In general, though, the staff is very professional and pleasant.

I hope its their one "off"!! No question the interior is top notch but the products did not match their reputation... Items in question .. - Amaricano ... ordered 3 and all were lukewarm ... tasted watered down - Almond Croissant ... a very popular item, but this one tasted very stale and heavy, does not have the lightness we expect, also the filling of marzipan is way too dense & over the top! Only item met the expectations ... Passion Fruit Cake ... amazingly light, with the perfect balance of tangy & sweet!! This was a special treat to impress my visitor from Toronto ... oh well ... you can imagine my disappointment! Sigh!! Truly coffee at Timmy's was way way better!!

Everything is first class in this establishment, from the huge display case filled with a large selection of pastries to the excellent coffee, you will be impressed. For example, check out the photo of the water dispenser available to customers, someone has anticipated customer needs. The footprint of the shop is long, seems like an entire building street level is the seating and service areas. The ambience is warm and classy, with a combination of small tables, banquets and bar stools in various areas. Everything is spotless, service staff keep an eye on tables - they pop up and clean them as patrons leave. We had Americano, apple turnover and apricot danish, all very good. The Americano was strong without being bitter, absolute perfection. Condiment area was fully stocked with everything you need to customize your beverages. It's strange we haven't heard of this place but that could be because of the location between Kingsway and main. Parking is a little tricky, you might have to pay in an adjacent lot.

Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 3/5 After being to the downtown location a few years ago, I was super excited to stumble across the new mount pleasant location of Thierry! This location is absolutely gorgeous and quite large with lots of seating. However, I've been twice now and noticed that it's always been quite full and hard to get a seat because half of the tables are occupied by a single person on their laptop - I wish they would introduce a "no laptop" policy for some of the tables so that it's easier to find a table if you're meeting up with a friend as these tables would have quicker turnover as well. As for food/drinks I've tried the hot chocolate, various macarons, the chocolate marquis cake, the chocolate trio cake, the custard tart, their chai latte, and special hot chocolate fest drink. Personally I find their cakes a bit too rich for my liking but if that's your jam you'll love them. Their macaroons are absolutely divine and I really enjoyed the custard tart and chai latte as well - I'd skip on the hot chocolates since they're quite milky in taste and not chocolatey enough. As for service, this is probably where it falls a bit short. The staff aren't very friendly and I find that they're quite disorganized as well - typically one person will grab any pastries you want, another will ring you up, and a barista will make your drinks. However, both times that I've gone there's been miscommunication between them with the order and it's been quite slow. Overall, gorgeous cafe with some really great pastries as well - just be prepared to not be able to find a seat easily and spend on the higher end of price point for cafes!

I happened to have just come out of an afternoon show at Performance Works and as I was walking away from the Performance Works building, I happened to turn my head and see this shop, so decided to check it out. They're a small shop/ workshop that does tours which teach how chocolate is made. When you walk in, you can smell chocolate in the air. The lady in the shop offered some samples of their chocolate. I tried their Tanduay Rum chocolate and their Earl Grey Tea chocolate. According to their website their chocolate is award winning. To be honest though, I wasn't blown away by what I tasted. It wasn't bad but it also didn't taste to me like it was award winning chocolate. I noticed a sign though that said they had a drink which was part of the Koolfest. This is a new festival that started this year and is a celebration of cold drink creations from vendors of the annual Hot Chocolate Festival. Kasama's creation was a Filipino Cacao Husk & Kape Cold Brew with Vanilla Cinnamon Syrup and Ube Cold Foam. I hadn't had any Koolfest drinks yet, this one sounded appealing and to be honest...I'm the kind of person who tends to feel guilty about taking free samples and then not buying anything! So...having sampled the Tanduay Rum and Early Grey Tea chocolates, I decided to buy a Koolfest drink. Not much of a coffee person usually. This might be only the second time I've ever ordered a cold brew drink. I very much enjoyed this drink! For me to enjoy a coffee beverage, it has to be sweet and this one was sweet...but not excessively sweet. I loved the Vanilla Cinnamon flavor in it. It really hit the spot.
