    Ocean mystery

the first thing I noted when walking into the chocolate shop was the delightful smell of fresh house made chocolate. They do bean to bar all directly in house which gives it this rich and amazing smell! Was super busy as it is a tiny space, (a few bar style chairs and a couple chairs to wait for your order). Ordered both of the specials on the menu. Loved the pastillas de leches, was a slightly toffee sweet and round flavour hot chocolate, where the ocean mystery offers a little salty flavour from the seaweed balanced well with the zing of matcha and sweetness of white chocolate. Definitely will be back to get some bars soon!

Strolling around Granville Island, my friend and I stumbled upon this adorable chocolate shop, lured in by a Kpop poster (who knew "K"asama ice popsicles were a thing?). The people there were lovely and very enthusiastic about their products. After trying various quirky chocolate samples, I opted for the milk bar, more for its cute packaging than anything else. It's a nice memento from Vancouver. Sadly, the chocolate flavours were underwhelming; the additions were barely noticeable, making the hefty price tag a bit too much. My friend agreed. Perhaps we've been spoiled by Soma.

Had the forest and sea chocolate (rosemary and salt flavours) thick hot chocolate. Elaborate flavour profile and quality chocolate! It was a perfect drink to walk around Granville island with. This chocolate brand is a local brand and one of the few chocolatiers here that are bean to bar.

Home to one of the finest craft chocolate makers in the world. Friends Vincent Garcia, Stefan Klopp, Oliver Koth-Kappus, & Dominik Voser discovered in 2015 that cacao beans were growing on a small property owned by Garcia's family in the Philippines. They started Kasama Chocolate in East Vancouver a year later. Now they're on Granville Island. They've won several awards globally for their fantastic chocolate. They make bean-to-bar single-origin chocolate & inclusion (flavored) bars. You owe it to yourself to visit (and to buy a bunch of chocolate).

I came here mainly for the Hot Chocolate Festival. This store is a bit tough to find at Granville Island but it's definitely worth it Their Ube Pandan White Chocolate hot chocolate has a soft pillowy texture but has really good flavor The drink is served with a meringue on top and a shortbread cookie on the side I used to get their chocolate bars at local craft markets and I am so glad they have a Brick and Mortar store They also offer samples of their chocolate and I picked up a couple of chocolate bars too!

My husband and I came here for the hot chocolate festival and wanted to try what Kasama would offer. We ordered a 12oz Classic style Brazo De Mercedes with ube/pandan shortbread cookie at $9.25. The hot chocolate was excellent. The temperature was not too hot that we could drink it right away. The flavour was not too sweet and its purple colour with white chocolate on top made the presentation even better. The beverage came with an ube and pandan shortbread cookie. Yummyyy! It was not too sweet as well. We enjoyed the beverage and snack! Their chocolates have so many different flavours. Each of them has its special packaging and design. We used to buy many of their chocolates whenever we came here but we have got too many chocolates at home from Christmas or others. We will consume more from Kasama later. Their service was great. Staff here were helpful explaining to us on their products. They were polite and welcoming. My old colleague and I have booked a private chocolate tasting and tour at Kasama in February. We look forward to joining this tour, tasting different chocolates and buying their chocolates for sure!

I'm not a huge fan of chocolate, but if you tell me something is award-winning, you best believe I'm gonna try it. It was a bit tricky finding this spot (it's tucked in a path/alley off the main road), and due to the summer heat, I was worried anything purchased might melt while sightseeing, so I only got 2 bars -- luckily they survived! It looked like a handful (or more) on display had won awards, so I guess you can't go wrong with any choice. I got the Kapé Espresso & Goat's Milk because they seemed most in line with my chocolate palate. Coincidentally they both have accolades, and boy, do they deserve them. They're 65% and 55% dark chocolate respectively, so they're not super bitter. They're both smooth, not too rich, and the Kapé Philippine coffee bean is incredible. It's strong and fragrant. I highly recommend if you're a fan of the chocolate/coffee combo. I wish it wasn't so hot the day I visited -- would've grabbed other bars to try!

Great, creative, and local, chocolate maker! Their flavored white chocolate options are worth trying even if you normally detest white chocolate and, of course, their "bean to bar" dark chocolate bars are also great. With all of the options they have, it's too bad they don't have some way of getting a variety pack like you can get at Dandelion Chocolate in SF. Somewhat pricey (bars are $10 and up), but actually very reasonably priced when you compare to other low-volume (artisanal, if you must) chocolate makers.

Kapé Mocha, hold the whipped cream.

Amazing chocolate made locally, bean to bar. Definitely a must stop at Granville Island or to order online to enjoy anytime.

We stopped by on our first day exploring Vancouver, and Breka being open 24/7 is already a win. We grabbed a mix of drinks and pastries to share. - Chocolate-Dipped Almond Croissant -- thin chocolate shell that added a unique texture - Cheddar & Chive Scone -- moist, not dry like most scones; loved the cheesy top and chives baked into the dough - Mango Coconut Mousse -- refreshing and clean-tasting, though a bit sweet for an Asian palate - Apple Strudel -- classic and simple; powdered sugar + big apple chunks - Almond Croissant -- super flaky with plenty of marzipan filling - Cretzel Ham & Cheese Melt -- croissant-meets-pretzel fusion; panini-pressed perfectly with melty cheese and ham - Steak & Cheese Panini -- solid; chipotle mayo and green peppers gave it a nice kick - Chai Latte -- light and well-balanced - Hot Latte -- creamy with the perfect coffee punch - Bienenstich (Honorable Mention) -- I wanted this so badly! It's a German classic with a crunchy honey-almond top and creamy vanilla filling sandwiched between two yeast cake layers. They only sell it whole, but an entire cake is just $16.50 CAD ($11.70 USD!) -- an unreal steal Breka bakes everything fresh daily, and you can taste it. This location was popping on a Saturday morning. Plenty of seating, though we snagged one of the last tables for four. There was a bit of a line, but it moved quickly. If I lived in downtown Vancouver, Breka would have my money every weekend.

Tried the pistachio donut which was amazing and fluffy. We also got the steak and cheese panini and a French toast sandwich. Personally, due to the cheese and ham being very limited in the French toast sandwich; the sweetness was overpowering. The steak and cheese panini was delicious but I would prefer that it was warmer on inside.
