We came here on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy. There was some seating although most of it was outdoors. We ordered the yuzu matcha cake and did have to say it looked better than it tasted. There was an almond crumble at the bottom that was difficult to get it and we ended up just eating it separately. We also got 4 of their chocolates and although they were good, they were a bit pricey. I received their Chocolate Advent Calendar as a workplace gift for my department. The package was a beautiful colourful artsy box with individually packaged chocolate calendar boxes. The chocolates were delicious and not too sweet. Unfortunately, there were many exact duplicates for the type of chocolates (there were six salted caramels) which was rather disappointing because the photo on their website showed different chocolates for different dates for the Advent Calendar. I have been wanting to come here since I saw my friend's pictures of the desserts. They looked very good. I finally made it and just in time for the Hot Chocolate Festival 2018 specialties too. I had the Tokyo Drift which was dark chocolate, yuzu marshmallow and black sesame. It was delicious. The marshmallow opened up like a flower with yuzu on the tip of the petals and the black sesame in the middle. You can smell the sesame with every sip. I really like this. The cake and tart we ordered were not as good. The lemon tart was marginally better after it sat there for a while. It was very cold and hard when first served. The crust could be better though. The dark chocolate cake looked better than it tasted. It was a bit dry and the filling was not as fine as other places. I have not try many patisseries in Vancouver yet but so far I think Thierry is still the best. It is much like what you get from a typical French patisserie. The croissants looked very good too and I saw people buying them in boxes so maybe that would be a better choice than the cakes. read more

They offer assorted croissants (my fav is the almond croissant), cakes, pastries, sandwiches, etc. You can place corporate orders for special cakes and chocolates. We love this place! The pastry are top notch! We love to go and get our pastries on the weekend. They have nice selections of the sweet and savories croissants. The ham and cheese croissants are excellent specially when it was warmed up. The croissants have a nice shatters on the outside, and the inside is soft and buttery. They used to make the bacon and onion scrolls and that was super delicious, unfortunately I don't see it again in their regular offerings anymore. The laminated brioche was really nice and buttery, very soft, and just the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate selections are very good too. I love their fruit infused ones. The passion fruit was heavenly. The owner is super nice and takes his time to greet and talk to the customers. The only complaint I have is the parking spots. There were two student servers at the counter. One girl was great, whereas the other one...she couldn't stop complaining about the heat, when I called she ignored and, and when she did respond, she spoke very impatiently...it ruined the experience a bit, but the great desserts earned it back. Came here with my bf 2 years ago and we had a wonderful experience. We decided to come back here again because we were in the neighborhood and it is also one of our favorite places to go to in West Vancouver. In our previous visits, we had their specialty chocolates and their cakes but never their fresh pastries so we decided to try them. Pear, Peach + Almond Croissant - This was wonderful! Even though the sliced pears and peaches were canned, it wasn't too sweet especially eaten with the croissant. I wished there was an equal balance of the fruits because there was just one slice of the peach which my bf and I shared the croissant so we only got half of the peach each. I was surprised there was a layer of the almond paste on the bottom because the croissant had sliced up almonds sprinkled on top so I thought that would cover up the almond part of the pastry but I was wrong. The almond paste was sweet, smooth and creamy which went nicely with the fruits on top and the pastry. The sliced up almonds were fresh and crunchy, and provided a nice nutty taste. The pastry itself was flaky and crispy. (5/5) Ham + Cheese Croissant - This was quite good as well even though I don't like ham. The pastry was also flaky and crispy, and it was also very buttery. The ham wasn't too salty which paired really nicely with the slice of cheese but the only issue was that there was just a thin slice of the ham and the cheese so it was a bit hollow on the inside. It would of also been good if we had it heated up so the cheese would melt in between. I liked that there was a good amount of crusted cheese on top so it would give the croissant a more cheesy taste and a nice crispy texture. I've always wanted to try the cakes from Temper Pasty, but the location is a bit inaccessible for me since I live in the very south end of Richmond. Luckily for me, somebody from work brought in a large Mango Caramel cake the other day, which is exactly the flavour that I have been craving to try! Since everybody at my firm is quite skinny and health conscious, I actually ended up eating 2 slices for breakfast because it was just that good! Even though the cake is heavily layered with chocolate, caramel, and mango puree, it wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet as you think it would be. This pastry place is so elegant and delicious. It is perfect for catching up over a treat with friends or a cozy date. It is also kid friendly. The prices reflect the excellent quality and the rich flavors allow for the smaller presentation to be just the right amount of sweet. The beautiful cakes and mini pies are light and the pie crusts are crispy. There is a small patio with umbrellas and they serve nice coffee to pair with their baked goods and chocolate. Reminds me if Thomas Haas in some ways and that is compliment. If you like cheese cake and lemon or lime tarts then try this place. I didn't have a chance to try their chocolates on their own but they looked really intriguing and now I have an excuse to go back! Great great great. Saw some negative reviews, and wanted to address them: Re service: I've been here about twenty times, and have had good experiences. They've never messed up my order. I'm fussy, and staff vary between "neutral" and "friendly" when I ask for my pastry to be heated, for instance, but they always do it and are never negative. Re croissants: I've been searching for the best croissant in the city for months--been to so many specialty patisseries, and Temper wins, for me. You need to get it heated, though, if you're not in, first thing. SO buttery, but not greasy, and quite a bit of yeasty tang, but not too much--just... perfect. The owner was working at his laptop, near the back one day, and I interrupted him to compliment him on the croissants. He happily answered my questions about his background (used to be head chef for Thomas Haas), how they did it and how many test batches they went through perfecting the croissant recipe. I think they spend more time and money on their croissants than anywhere in the city. Next time I went back he remembered me, and made a point of swinging by to shake my hand and wish me happy Easter. He seems like a great guy. I appreciated it. Chocolate-orange cookies are great. I like their Cheesecake and the Bailey's Tiramisu - you can taste the liquor in them. The taste of matcha for the Matcha Yuzu cake however, is light. The flavour can be stronger and less milky; the hazelnut crunch layer and the white chocolate base are fine - they are not that sweet. For a seem-to-be high class pastry shop, the employees need to be trained thoroughly and appropriately. First, the server should wear gloves to take out the cakes from the fridge because she was also the cashier. Second, one piece of cake was nearly fell onto the floor when she took it out from the fridge; she needed to use the other hand to catch it. Was the slice that heavy or was she unaware of the correct way to handle the cake? Third, she didn't tape the cheesecake properly; the cheesecake, which was in a separate box, touched the side of the box instead of being in the middle when I opened the box. Fourth, I asked for a plastic bag. She should know whether the two boxes would fit inside the plastic bag or not when she opened the bag without trying to squeeze the two boxes into the bag. It caused one of the boxes slide slightly to the side, and that probably was the box with the cheesecake. My standards are indeed high in regards to their price. Therefore, I won't return. read more

My boss highly recommended their croissants, so I made the trip over the bridge last weekend. While I can't say their croissants are worth the drive, I will say their chocolates are! Their one-bite liquid caramels are DIVINE, as are their passion fruit caramels. To me, a croissant is meant to have a crust that shatters, and a buttery rich inside. This croissant had neither. To be fair, I got it at 3 pm, and I'm sure it was sitting out all day...but I don't think that's an excuse. At Thomas Haas', they bake them throughout the day, so your chances of having a freshly baked croissant are good. It had potential, but failed in the final result. My friend had a pain au raisin that he was ambivalent about. The coffee was from Stumptown, and was very good. Unfortunately I decided to give this place another try ( this was a mistake on my part). I went to Temper last weekend. I ordered a latte. I wanted to order an Almond Croissants but I didn't see any on display. I asked the server if they have any Almond Croissants left and he responded that they have ran out of Almond Croissants for the day and will not be making any new one for the rest of the day since it was close to closing time. I stayed in Temper for an hour drinking my Luke warm latte and as I was about to leave, I saw that they had two Almond Croissants in display. I am so disappointed that the server had to lie about not having Almond Croissants when they evidently had Almond Croissants and told me otherwise. Not sure why they have to make things up but rest assured I will not be coming back to a place where they lie to their customers! read more
