Grand opening on Valentines Day at the new River District location where they had a promotion of 20% off for the day. My boyfriend lined up at 9:30am for a 10am opening and there were already 25 people ahead of him. By the time the store opened, the line was over two blocks long. I heard the line up was up to 2 hours long later that day so to say that Angus T is a hit is a bit of an understatement. This is a cute location where the emphasis is on sweet and savoury croissants but they offer Danish, cinnamon buns, tea, and coffee options. We ordered the limited offering of the strawberry creme croissant plus got a regular croissant, onion jam & bacon, pistachio & raspberry, and ham & cheese. All of these croissants were DELICIOUS and the regular croissant brings me memories of Paris! Yes, they are pricey but at around $1.50 to $2.50 more than a croissant from Starbucks a block away, it is well worth it as a treat. I look forward to tasting more flavours and taking friends here to catch up over a delicious croissant and hot cup of tea. The River District neighbourhood needed a cute café like this and so glad they are finally open. Pro tip: if enjoying the treats at home, reheat the croissants in low heat. We visited Angus T in Yaletown on the Saturday morning after Christmas. The streets outside were quiet, but the shop itself was packed and lively, filled with people chatting and enjoying pastries. The display case was fully stocked with delicious options when we arrived. We ordered a latte, which was excellent and not too bitter, with two croissants: the Almond and the Chocolate Raspberry. The warm cup of London Fog was just beautiful to hold in both hands and sip after getting drenched in rain. I love croissants so had to try Angus. I went on a Saturday afternoon and no line so I was able to get a couple of croissants without waiting long. The croissants were not as large as I had hoped. The pistachio one was delicious but the chocolate raspberry one was not as crispy and maybe a tad too sweet for me. There was a bit of seating for what seemed like a small shop but it's deep and went back a bit. I love arsicault in sf and I live near it and I go whenever I have the chance, this place rivals it and might even be better. These croissants are crisp, airy and buttery. Even with filling inside it tastes so buttery and airy. The early grey cream was not too sweet but packed a punch with the tea flavor. Black sesame flavor was strong and also not too sweet. These croissants were literal perfection. We loved it so much we came back the next day to grab a few more before we left Vancouver and it was still just as good. Tried this famous croissant bakery for the first time. I visited shortly after they opened and they had all the savoury croissants out, but the only sweet croissant was the almond. The raspberry pistachio croissant came out somewhere around 8:15-8:30, but that was it for the sweet croissants by the time I left a little after 8:30. They also had the plain and apple cinnamon buns and a few other Viennoseries. I was a little disappointed there weren't more sweet options, but decided to get the apple cinnamon bun and a chai latte. The cinnamon bun was very good. It was soft and fluffy, obviously very fresh. It wasn't too sweet. I thought it was skimpy on the apple. There weren't quite enough apple chunks to even get a piece in each bite. The chai latte didn't wow me but it was okay. It was very cinnamon-y. I find their prices reasonable. Not cheap, but for an artisan bakery downtown definitely not a bad deal. The open kitchen is kind of cool. If you like watching bakers work you can sit at a counter looking right into the kitchen, but there are also a handful of regular tables if you prefer that. I guess I can't count on getting the sweet stuff in the morning, but I would come back again if I'm craving for something savoury to see if they better live up to my expectations. read more

You will be wowed by the croissants, they are beautiful! They also have lemon curd and a couple of non-croissant options. It is busy, a lot of customers, but most seem to be take out. True it is small, but not cramped and certainly if you arrive at the right time, you can sit down. We noticed the prices are very affordable, the coffee was great. We shared an apricot danish and ham and Gruyère croissant- amazing! Condiment station was well stocked, tables and counters were clean. The only negative was that the sugar was dispensed from large jars with spoons, the brown sugar was hard as a rock. Individual packets would be much more hygienic and fresher. A smallish seating area faces what appears to be a large kitchen with supposed folks preparing pastries. Empty at the time of patronage. I had Angus over 5 times already, and still haven't reviewed it. I will finally sit down and review this place. There is a reason why I keep coming here, it is because their croissants are ravishing. Every time I come here, I have a chance to eat a croissant, and every time, they are crispy, delicious, and extremely satisfying. I can never say no when I am in the area. Their coffee is just mediocre, but it does what it needs to do, give a person caffeine and be on their way. But that croissant, holy hell, every time I come here for a croissant I am always left so satisfied and extremely happy. The crispy layers are just abundance, and you can really tell they fold it so many times to get that PERFECT buttery crispy to it. Every single croissant I have had here are extremely consistent, and they are perfect. I would say they are even better than most of the bakeries I have had in France. I was super sad and disappointed but it's not cause the croissants aren't good, I just didn't have time to wait for them.
