What sets this place apart is the assortment of unique Asian-inspired flavors, in addition to the more traditional butter and chocolate offerings. While I enjoyed all the different fillings, I liked the matcha one the most as the subtle bitterness contrasts the sweet richness of the croissant. Just wish the texture (crumb) of the pastry itself was lighter and had more of a pronounced buttery flavor that is characteristic of a viennoiserie. Also not sure why the pistachio croissant had a raspberry(?) jam filling in it as the flavors don't complement, in my opinion. Side note: they sell out of most flavors by 1pm, so I suggest going before noon for the best selection. read more

CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY This was my favourite one out of the 2 - I recommend eating this right away because the filling inside may cause the croissant to grow soggy over time. Mine was perfectly flakey still. The filling included both chocolate and raspberry. Such a classic combo! Defs recommend. BLACK SESAME This one had so much black sesame filling. It wasn't my favourite and I can't quite put my finger on why. I think I was expecting the black sesame to be sweeter? And maybe that was where the disappointment came from. PISTACHIO CROISSANT Look at beautiful and cute this croissant is. It was extremely buttery, soft and flakey in all the right ways possible. The filling inside actually had both pistachio and raspberry filling and it was so delicious. I've been meaning to come to Angus T for a while to try their croissants. On the advice of a friend, they recommended to come early as the popular croissants can sell out. We were disappointed that on the day we came, they weren't making their black sesame or matcha croissant so ended up getting the pistachio, ham and gruyere, double baked almond, earl grey, blueberry pistachios instead and also an apricot Danish. My favourite was definitely the pistachio followed by the fruit Danish. I happened to pass by this unassuming coffee spot which specializes in croissants and a few other baked goods. Shared the pistachio croissant and inside was surprisingly filled with raspberry jam and almond paste. I had inquired whether it was filled and I was only told that there was almond paste. I think it would be better to tell the customer what's in it (because maybe I would have hated ham-luckily for them I enjoyed the filling. I just read Omar's post and it sounds like he also wasn't informed of the raspberry type filling lol. There's a few small tables and some bar stools facing the kitchen so you can see the croissant makers at work. $5.50 seems to be the average price for "fancy" croissants. I wouldn't be driving over the bridge to go downtown for the croissants as I actually still prefer the croissants at "Le doux ciele". Sure they are $6 but you get a flakier crust and much bigger! However if you happen to be in the yaletown area and like croissants, I would definitely encourage a visit! It was tender and buttery inside but I like to bite into a croissant where the outside is nice and crispy (this one was just a tad bit soft). I think it's probably in the top 3 croissants category based in the downtown area (le doux ciele and small victory bakery are the other 2). I went at 2:30pm and they didn't have many flavours left. I got the last blueberry croissant and a Gianduja mocha croissant. Both croissants tasted fresh, light and super flaky! There is a noticeable crunch when you bite into them! The blueberry one had a sweet jam filling and was topped with blueberry buttercream. I made it my goal to go and try out Angus T after seeing a bunch of photos on IG. Down in Yaletown we spotted the croissant sign and headed in. Unfortunately, we ended up there at 5:30PM and they close at 6PM. Fortunately, their baked goods were by 2 get one free! I think it happens an hour before they close. So bonus for me! But It was pretty slim pickings. but I dd manage to get my hands on a Double Baked Almond Croissant, a Gianduja Mocha Croissant and a Cinnamon Bun with a side of cream cheese icing. If you eat the baked goods there, they can heat it up for you. We ended getting the Cinnamon Bun heated up. It was soft and gooey. Perfect for a snack or dessert. Not overly sweet which was fantastic. My only meh comment is that the cream cheese icing wasn't very cream cheesy. I tasted like regular icing sugar icing and less cheesy. The croissants were a delicious! Flaky and filled in all the right places! Yes, I know that you can get a dozen croissants at Costco for the same price as 1 croissant at Angus T. But they definitely aren't on the same croissant scale. Want a true artisan croissant then go give Angus T try. Go enjoy the finer things out there once in a while. Also I love the open kitchen concept. You can see the sheeter, the over and proofer. You can see that everything is pretty much made in house. The earl grey croissant was on the sweeter side but you can definitely taste the earl grey flavor (5/5). I wanted to try a variety of their croissants but they only had a few choices left, so if you're looking for options... come early in the day! I settled for the pistachio, early grey, fruit, and mocha. All their croissants are pleasing to the eye, and their flavors are prominent but it lacked the flakiness I was looking for. It has a golden crispy shell but when I bit in, it didn't have the same crunch in the other layers and it was more dense. I attended this institution for an escape from the snowstorm of January 2024 in hopes of finding a warm hot chocolate and a delicious pastry. Instead what I found was a "hot" chocolate that almost entirely consisted of foam and a cold pain au chocolat. All for the affordable price of ten dollars. I know I shouldn't have high expectations for pricing of anything in Yaletown however, considering what I was paying for that price is outrageous I will not be returning to this location. I was a little skeptical of trying this place because of thee mixed reviews online, but this place is pretty good. My parents loved this place more than I did, but that might be because I have crazy high standards. Technically a 3.5, but I'm giving it 3 because prices are definitely on the high side, considering that the size of the croissants were quite small. I was kind of surprised by how small they were when I first walked in, but hey, at least they looked good. I probably won't be back, but my parents might. Kouign amann (4/5) This was my first time trying one of these and I quite enjoyed it. It was pretty flakey, but somehow still a bit dense? I wish it was a bit lighter/airier and crispier, but it was good and had a nice caramel flavour. Matcha croissant (4/5) This was my favourite out of all of the croissants. They are very generous with their matcha custard cream, as the croissant was absolutely filled ! Although a little on the sweet side and could use a little more richness in terms of the matcha flavour, it was a really good croissant. Earl grey croissant (3/5) Like the matcha one, this one was also filled to the brim with earl grey custard. Again, it is a little on the sweeter side, but the flavour was pretty good. The reason why I'm giving it a 3 is because I'm not the biggest fan of earl grey. Double baked almond chocolate croissant (4/5) I love chocolate, almonds, and double baked croissants ! This one was pretty well done, and the chocolate they use is really high quality (according to their response to a negative Google review that I read comparing their croissants to Costco's croissants lol). My only complaint is that I wish they had more chocolate filling in the croissant, because it tastes like a high quality chocolate stick and I need more of that goodness. Mocha croissant (3.5/5) Not bad, but a little lacking on the filling inside. The filling itself was pretty good, and tasted like a milder, less sweet version of Nutella. I also thought the cream on top lacked flavour and I'd much rather have a chocolate shell or something instead (like the matcha one). Pistachio croissant (2/5) Bought it because I wanted to try a pistachio croissant, but was unpleasantly surprised by the raspberry jam filling. I am not a jam person ! It would have been nice if they included raspberries in the description for all those who don't like jam. PSA: Come here after 5pm (they close at 6) and they have a buy 2 get one free deal ! I love croissants so stumbling into this place was a win for me. There's not too many places in Vancouver that I would say makes great croissants. Many I would say are OK to good. However, I think Angus T ranks up there among the best. Perfect flaky and crunchy exterior and light and soft interior. Top that with a good selection of unique flavors and you have a winner. Get there early as some of their popular croissants often sell out by early afternoon. Also they serve Milano coffee, which I think are one of the better local coffee roaster brands. This place is inconspicuously located in the heart of Yaletown. The storefront is simple and can be easily overlooked. The inside has a contemporary industrial feel which really suits the vibe of Yaletown's warehouse buildings to T. The beverages are mainstream prices but the food items are definitely pricier than most. I had to try Earl Grey croissant and my friend tried the pistachio croissant. The exterior is darker than I would like for a croissant, almost half burnt but I think it was intentional. Very crunchy and you can see the layers even from the outside. I like that the Earl Grey cream is very smooth and creamy. The flavour is not too strong which allows you to taste the base of the croissant. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her pistachio. There is more than just cream in hers, it appears to be a thick pistachio-flavored spread. Again the flavors are there but not super strong. For an average price of $5.50 for each pastry item, this may not be an everyday stop for most. It's worth checking it out. read more
