The chocolate orange suisse was okay. The pull apart bread was for our little one. The medium latte was okay but seemed a little small. Whenever we're in North Van, Nemesis at Lonsdale Quay is a must stop for us. I love their mochas and their pastries -- delicious and consistent. Love the area where the cafe is, so nice to sit outside on a beautiful clear day. The restaurant is quite small so we took our pastries to go. They came in cute Dope boxes. We ordered two crossiants, the tiramisu one was delicious and not too sweet. The crossiants were flaky and light (not greasy). They had a wide selection of pasties and they all looked very aesthetic and appealing. There were no tables so I was waiting to the side. Once a table opened I went over to put my stuff down and was told quite rudely that there's a table waitlist by a staff member. Had I know this earlier (ie a sign or had they told me) I would have put my name down on the list. But because of this, other couples were seated at a table and I was forced to wait, yet again... I stopped by around 3 pm on Sunday looking for some cruffin or croissant. Unfortunately, only Ube cruller and brown butter salted caramel cruller left in the showcase. Oh, well. I should have come earlier. I ordered to go and shared with bf cutting in the middle of the donut. Both were delicious. I wish they had stronger Ube flavour in it not only purple coloring. Mortadella supreme was SO good, all employees were kind and looked to be working hard. It gets pretty loud inside and the wait was long despite it not being busy when I went. Also the entrance/exit for the employees cuts right through the line so it feels cramped and there's someone constantly passing by with food & drinks to serve (just made me nervous to bump them & spill what they're holding). Absolute 5 stars!! I fell in love with Nemesis Coffee and Vancouver on this trip! I'll start by saying I do not drink coffee so having breakfast three days in a row (not even ashamed!) at a place with coffee in the name was crazy, but this place is absolutely amazing! We were staying at a hotel walking distance, so we got to enjoy picking up food here two days in a row and eating at one of the tables outside by the water (highly recommend) and ate in the restaurant the third day. My first day I got the Mortadella Supreme Croissant which was a 10/10! The layers and the runny fried egg were savory and delicious. The second day I tried the Bodega Sando and sprung for both bacon and avocado. It had a Cajun aioli compared to the Mustard Aioli in the Supreme Croissant, so it was nice to try both. The third day (and my favorite!) I wanted to sit in the restaurant and ordered the Turkish Eggs. These were better than any I had in Turkey.... the amount of flavor from the labneh, smoke sausage, and Aleppo was just crazy good. The line moved fast and service was good. The location was adorable and had little nods to hip hop throughout in the décor. We also had 2 donuts or croissants on top our individual entrees and all were amazing! Specifically tried the Earl Grey Blood Orange Cruller, Salted Caramel Cruller and the Tiramisu Cruller.. WOW. All I can say is pleaseeee bring Nemesis Coffee to America!! read more

My daughter and I went with Por Por (Grandma) to Nemesis Coffee House in North Vancouver for a snack. It was late afternoon and a lot of the goodies were gone already. We still managed to snag ourselves a decent snack though: London Fog, Chai Latte, Strawberries and Cream Croissant, and a giant Chocolate Chip Cookie Drinks were OK. Not bad but nothing to write home about either. Strawberries and Cream Croissant: More flavorful than the flavored croissants we've had from Angus T and fairly crisp; however, Angus T croissants were crispier and flakier. We were staying in North Vancouver and were casually strolling around the shipyard, the art gallery, and the waterfront. We noticed that at the corner of the art gallery, there was a cafe bustling with people standing in line, having coffee and eating pastries. It was so jam packed with people that we couldn't even enter the cafe and as it was raining, we decided to skip it. We re-arranged our plan for the next day so that we could come back to this seemingly super popular cafe. We came back the next morning and the scene barely changed. The place was bustling with people and we barely were able to get inside of the cafe to be out of the rain just to stand in line. The aroma of coffee and delightful pastries filled the air and I was drawn to their clean and modern interior. The prep stations made it feel like I was visiting a friend's large kitchen with various baking tools. As we moved closer to the ordering counter, we were passing by their displays of their signature blue boxes with "Dope" written on top, retail coffee selections, and available pastries. I think if the breakfast sandwich menus were also available among these displays, it would have been more helpful but I think their displays were wonderful nonetheless. Finally, it was our turn to order. We ordered Americano and Cappuccino for our drinks. For pastries, we got the queen, cream puff, birthday cake supreme, feature danish, and strawberry frosted donut cruffin. Since we wanted one of their blue take out boxes, we requested them to go. Apparently, the minimum purchase requirement to get a box is 5 pastries. We also ordered one of the breakfast sandwiches, the name of which escapes my memory, and opted for the bacon option. There was no table available for us to sit. We found a corner area with two lounge-style chairs and a coffee table. The four of us squeezed into that area . They also had a water station with both regular and carbonated water. We were waiting for a table to open up but no luck in this visit. The server brought our drinks and everything else. Oh my, they were amazing. The coffee drinks were well made and wonderful. And the pastries were fantastic. My favorite was the queen, a caramelized croissant, which reminded me of Kona Coffee Purveyors in Waikiki. It was so good and the addition of the smoked sea salt on top was a delightful variation. All the other pastries were also thoroughly enjoyed and promptly made their way into our digestive system. Their popularity is so well deserved and we will be sure to include them on our itinerary the next time we visit North Vancouver. read more

What a gem! Located a couple blocks from our AirBnB too. The pastries here are from Dope Bakery and are indeed, dope! I loved the lemon meringue croissant, which was so crispy and flakey and filled with tart lemon curd. The strawberry danish was outstanding as well, with sweet, ripe, macerated strawberries atop a crunchy, pastry. We washed them both down with a curtado and London fog, which were fantastic too! Came here just to try more crossaints shaped into other things - the croissant muffin cruffin! I got the raspberry cheesecake cruffin. It was divine! Very flaky. Very buttery. The top part was a bit lackluster and it falls off very easily but the best part is the cheesecake cream on the inside. It pairs so well with the cruffin. We popped into Nemesis because we couldn't resist their pastry case even though we just ate. We tried the Ube Crueller and the Matcha Raspberry Cruffin. Both were delicious! Nemesis is a must-visit if you're ever near one! The espresso shots are always perfectly pulled and the food is amazing. The barista that took my order was so incredibly kind and made my coffee very quickly. I sat in for breakfast yesterday as it was rainy outside and the last day of my trip to North Vancouver, the music wasn't too loud and the smells coming from the baked goods were comforting. Been here a couple of times for brunch, and it's always been delicious. But this time around, I was finally able to try out some of their pastries. They didn't disappoint and the hype is definitely real. They look and taste delicious. The croissant was flaky and I appreciated the amount of filling on the inside. I tried their black forest croissant and I loved the chocolate cream and cherry jelly. The caramel apple was also tasty, with an equally pastry cream filling. Both of them weren't too sweet. I was a bit surprised with the price, but honestly, it's justified with the quality and presentation. One of the things to note though is that if you want the blue dope bakehouse boxes, it's a minimum of 5 pastries to get it. They do have smaller boxes, but I don't recommend it for the croissant. I had ordered quite a bit of pastries and wanted a separate box for a croissant I was going to give my coworker. They ended up putting the caramel apple croissant into the small box and they had closed it up, so it actually squished it. I was a bit disappointed, especially since it was $7. So I recommend eating the croissant there or buying enough pastries to get the larger box! read more

Amazing cappuccinos and even more spectacular baked goods. Nemesis in North Vancouver is situated across the water from Downtown Vancouver. Just a quick 15 minute sea bus ride will land you at its doorstep. Nemesis has all the fancy toys to make superb expresso and cappuccino drinks. Ferrari comes to mind! Great drinks but the reason to trek here is for the pastries. Tried many things including the pain au chocolat and croissants. It is the Cruffin that is their signature pastry. Following the Cronut invention Nemesis had shaped their version into a muffin form. IMO, it is a better shape and easier to hold. The flavors are seasonal - butter pecan and Nutella flavors - to name a few. Sometimes they sell out by early afternoon. This is currently one of my moments of joy. read more

The most addictive croissants in North Van! None of their pastries ever disappoint, they always have a few seasonal flavours on rotation, I always find the toppings a work of art in itself. Full appreciation to the fact that the croissant filling, which doesn't make the inner layers soggy if/when not consumed right away. This is really a make or break for me, pastries with some kind of filling usually does not uphold to the test of time: typically the water content of the custard or the oiliness of the filling tend to flatten the pastry in a matter of hours. This is never the case with Nemesis' baked goods! Highly recommend a taste for yourself! I also ordered a cortado & a bacon and egg sandwich. My cortado was only okay - the espresso was too acidic for my liking. The sandwich tasted super fresh, and though it sounds super basic, the ingredients in it made it above the rest. I particularly liked the gritty house made ketchup (!!) it had just the right levels of tang & sweetness, and is not overly flavourful to the point it'll mask all other flavors. Visited twice for their matcha ube latte. I wished there was an even amount of matcha and ube but both times I ordered, it tasted more ube than matcha. Get it at 25% sweet because this drink is very sweet, if you prefer it that way. Bought the two cookies they had, the chocolate chip and cornflake cookie, despite me not being a fan of the salt on cookies trend. They were both alright. But the exclusive coffees in those cute colorful packaging (yellow, pink, mint green) super cute. They also have a great view of the bay/shipyards. read more

Excellent in every way. Drinks, baked goods, food items, and the environment are all exceptional. The only down-side is that you might have to fight over a place to sit. The atmosphere at a coffee shop is important and they've created a beautiful space that's brightly lit and very inviting. They've made their baking a focus by creating an open-kitchen that is visible from the seating space. So it is no surprise that the baked goods in their display case are exceptionally tasty and fresh. They have a made-to-order food menu in addition to their display case of baked goods and their food is magnificent. I was blown away! Plenty of coffee shops dabble in made-to-order, warm food items, but they don't have full kitchens and tend to be pretty mediocre at best. Nemesis is a different story, their food is better than at most restaurants Be warned that you may have trouble finding a seat during popular hours. Think twice before you bring your laptop here - it isn't really the place for the coffee shop camper. read more

At 9:42 am on Dec. 30, 2023 , I popped in and ordered a regular butter croissant and a pecan croissant at Nemesis Coffee Polygon North Vancouver location, the cashier just barked at me what are you talking about? You want a pecan pie. Well I replied that I wanted a pecan croissant. The cashier is very confrontational! there's no need to be rude to any customer. I just called it pecan croissant instead of a pie. Not a big deal. All she had to say was we call it a pie not a croissant but instead she was very rude to me with her tone of voice. I have been to your coffee shop before but this time I decided to post a review of my bad customer service experience from your coffee shop this morning. Came for the coffee but was blown away by the pastries and the ambiance. This location at the Polygon is beautiful! They have a bakery area where you can get a glimpse of the pastry chefs doing their magic, and the decor consists of dope records and books on the walls. There's some booth seating inside which is cool but plenty of seating outside (I believe shared with the museum) where you can enjoy your coffee with a view. I'd highly recommend the cruffins! Dope it is! So I was really excited for this new bakery to open up. I enjoyed Nemesis Coffee in Gastown. I came opening weekend, on a Sunday right when it opened at 9am. It was already busy. I wanted to come early to make sure they still had lots of options. And they did. Bonus!! I walked in and first thing I noticed was one of the bakers was torching some kind of cream brûlée pastry. Yes Please! The line was formed with handful of people in front of me. It gave me time to look at what my options were. If you get 5 pastry you get it in their blue DOPE box. I decided to get 5 and a latte. 1) Banana toffee croissant 2) Strawberry Cheesecake croissant 3) Original Croissant 4) Creamsicle Cruffin 5) Cream brûlée pastry (dont really know exactly what its called). First things first. I took a bite from one of the croissants, perfect crunch, buttery and softness. It was delish! My husband and I demolished all 5 pastry. Each one was great. Pastry prices range from $3.75-$6. With 5 pastry and a latte was about $35. plus tip. Yikes, but worth it. We can't wait to go back. Coffee was great, I love the cups it comes in. UPDATED REVIEW! Went yesterday with the boyfriend to try their Brunch offerings and it was so good! Their portions are not big but it is perfect if you want brunch + a pastry afterwards which is their specialty from the Dope Bakehouse. We were lucky that when we went it wasn't busy so we didn't have to wait for a table, all of the staff there are really friendly, energetic and accommodating. I got the smoked salmon benny ($13.50) and it was really flavourful, I liked how instead of an english muffin or bread, they used potato roesti as the base, the hollandaise sauce was really good too. My boyfriend got the croque madame ($14.75) and it was so filling and delicious, the bechamel, gruyere, egg yolk and milk bread all paired together was so decadent and they made sure to put lots of black forest ham. I also got a latte and they always do it right so no complaints here! For the pastries, we got a white chocolate pistachio cruffin to share and it was divine - the cruffin had this creamy custard pistachio filling that was so strong which we loved and the pastry was perfectly flaky. To take home, we also bought the cherry amaretto cruffin which was AMAZING as it was definitely my flavour palette (the dark chocolate and cherries paired together was to die for). We also got the cranberry cheesecake croissant which we haven't tried yet. Absolutely love Nemesis and what they've been doing for the past few years and will continue to support them!
