The hand made baked goodies are absolutely amazing. The service was outstanding. The lady took her time explaining each item behind the glass covered counter. Their baklava and most of the sweets were not that sweet compared the Greek Baklava or Persian goodies. She gave me a sample of the sesame crisp as it was the last item and she was ready to clear the tray. The family is from Northern Iraq so different from the southern Middle East baked goods. Sold by the pound, I got 4 squares and 1 pistachio cookie which cost about $10.50. The lady said not to put the box in the refrigerator as it will dry it out, but leave on the counter away from the sun and it will last 2-3 weeks. Well, it's my stomach and not the sun that will make this box empty! I'm looking forward to coming back for more goodies.

It is a small shop with just a simple banner so easy to miss. They sell baklava by the pound or by the piece. I mentioned it was my first time there and the lady was so friendly and gave me a complimentary piece of baklava of my choosing and to enjoy - what great service! I ended up getting half a pound of the walnut baklava and half a pound of pistachio baklava for around $22. I only got to eat the pistachio baklava and it was crispy, light, and not too sweet. This is easily my new favourite baklava place and can't wait to try more! I bought the box of baklava to my friend's Thanksgiving dinner but she didn't up sharing (haha!) but told me how much she and her husband enjoyed the sweets. Please enjoy this local business that has great service and goods - they are a gem!

I'm thoroughly impressed by Mr. Haas' background in the chocolatier profession, and it truly shows in his creations. I loved everything I tried when I visited both of their locations, one in Kitsilano and the other in West Vancouver. I also enjoyed their matcha latte, which I prefer to drink unsweetened. I'm already looking forward to visiting again when I return to Vancouver. This was one of my favorite experiences while visiting this lovely city. Even more amazing, if you're on a ketogenic lifestyle like me, their sugar-free chocolates are some of the best you'll ever have. No yucky aspartame. They taste amazing.

Space/location The space is on the smaller side, so it's not ideal for large groups, but it's cozy and inviting, with a few counter seats inside and some patio seating outside. Food and Drinks: The food and service are consistently good, and compared to many other cafés and patisseries, it offers excellent value for money. The hot chocolate and coffee are standout. The lady behind the machine clearly knows what they're doing, because every cup is spot on. The sandwiches can be a bit hit or miss, but our recent visits have been great. The smoked salmon croissant is served cold (they always check if that's okay), and even so, it's one of my favorites. The portobello sandwich, served warm, is also rich and full of flavor. And the cakes and pastries? Dangerous in the best way possible. The kind that keeps you coming back to North Van "just one more time." :)

Came here after dinner for some dessert. Did you know you can get two different flavors in a single…read morescoop? That's what the sign said, so the lovely young ladies I was dining with, each decided to get a single scoop made of 2 flavors. One of them opted to have 2 flavors on a cone and the other got 2 flavors in a cup. For some reason, the 2 flavors on the cone were much larger than the cup. Same deal, same price...but I kid you not, the two flavored single scoop in the cup was much smaller than the one on the cone. If you're a bang for your buck kinda person, you might pay heed to this and opt for the cone from here on out. If you're like me though, you'll still choose the cup no matter what. I always find that ice cream cones make just make me too full and then they also make me thirsty so that I feel like I want a drink afterwards. Of course...if I'm in a situation where the ice cream comes on a cone by default (for example, a free ice cream after hot pot), I will eat the cone without any complaints. Given the choice though, I always prefer my ice cream in a cup. Easier to eat with a spoon than having to bite into it on a cone, doesn't overfill me and doesn't make me thirsty. As it turns out though, I did not get ice cream in a cup or cone this time. I treated the two young ladies to their ice cream, and I had planned on using my bday freebie to get my own ice cream in a cup. I made a discovery this year though. First of all, the bday freebie isn't really a freebie anymore. It's a discount. They give you $5 off. Also, it doesn't apply to getting ice cream scooped for you on the spot. It only applies to pints of ice cream, and you have to place the order through the app. So basically, you're being forced to buy a pint of ice cream and take it home. Not as great a deal if you ask me, cuz it's one of those situations where you're being forced to spend money in order to save money. I still went for it this time, and ordered myself a pint of Blueberry Honey Lavender. Drove back to my mom's house as soon as I could and scooped some into a bowl. It's a lovely flavor, but unless they bring back the bday offer that lets me enjoy a free scoop of gelato in a cup, I think I'll be passing on the Dolce Amore bday offer from now on.

It was loaded with nuts, making every bite rich and flavorful. The single scoop was surprisingly generous too. If you're visiting for the first time, I highly recommend trying this flavor. I'd definitely go back for it!

The cakes are still not that great to me. The latest cake I tried was the Dubai chocolate cake. If I eat it as just a chocolate cake, then it's good. As Dubai chocolate, it falls way short. It is lacking the kataifi (or knafeh) bits and I can barely taste the pistachio cream or tahini. The chocolate is probably overpowering the other flavors. Very pretty in presentation though. The blackforest cake is also lacking in the kirsch taste. I can barely taste it. Maybe I had a such a great tasting blackforest cake before that many places do not match up to it. Bottom line: just get the shortbread cookie. Get the cakes only if you're really craving it and this is the only place nearby for it.
