I came into this place without any preconceptions. Just as I happened to walk by it to the bank, their window of goodies caught my eye. I was pleasantly surprise when I walked in to see the variety of treats despite being late in the day and many items were sold out. I opted for a whole lemon poppyseed loaf that was about $17 if I can recall correctly. I also noticed they have 50% off their bread loaves when it's near closing which I think would be a great deal. Service was quick and friendly with lots of payment methods available. I think I'll be back next time I'm down on commercial.

Came by for some treats for the first time. I don't know if she was the owner but she was so kind and patient with my husband and I trying to figure out what we wanted. The cannoli was perfect. Creamy and not too sweet. My kids loved the chocolate cake. My MIL enjoyed the lemon cheesecake. Would love to come back again.

Great Italian bakery on the drive. Great selections. Great price. I tried a handful of things they all tasted great and fresh. My favourite was the ham and cheese croissant and cannoli. I will be back!

When I saw the cake on the table of course I thought it was a very beautiful cake but it was only when I tasted it that I realized how delicious it was, my thoughts were where the hell have you been, I almost forgot about you

My friends and me used to call here as "canoli" place because they have super long line up at Italian day. We have never had a chance to try. Even to get in the store. I'm glad to give it try today finally. They have savory baked stuff like cornmeal muffin and ham and egg croissant. But mostly this bakery is for sweet tooth people. Their whole cake looked like dense one. Not high/tall sponge cake. And more tart crust cake rather than pie. That is my cake! So I'm happy to find here. Store is small and narrow. No room to sit and have a coffee.

How do I express how much I love Fratelli Bakery? It's not exactly cutting edge or innovative, or elegant, and it definitely doesn't use local organic ingredients. It doesn't sport minimalist hipster ambience or cool sculptural light fixtures. Fratelli gets five stars for perfectly recreating the bakeries of my childhood (which was in the nineties). At Fratelli, a 2020 hazelnut tart tastes just like a 1990 hazelnut tart as if no time has passed. There's a pretty good chance Fratelli has been using the same recipes for 30+ years. And there's a reason for that: they're delicious. If artificial vanilla has a special place in your heart like it does in mine, Fratelli is the place for you. I alternate between a flourescent yellow lemon tart or a French eclair. Fratelli seems to do particularly well at pate a choux, the pastry that eclairs and cream puffs are made from. As other Yelpers have mentioned, they have one particularly over-the-top confection, called a St. Honore cake, which has too many components to mention, but includes Bavarian cream, whipping cream, choux, and sponge cake, and which everyone should try at least once. The coffee is pretty good, too.

Our office loves getting the cream puffs from here, so much that we even got a courier to deliver some when our old CEO was retiring; yep, they were that good. Stumbled upon the store while in the area for brunch and it's a corner shop that you can't miss since they've got cakes and tiramisu written on the outside of the store. Really like how fast paced the place is and how eye catching everything is. Prices and names of items are clearly labelled so you can be in and out in no time or take forever to decide which one item you want to walk out with (yep, I was the latter). I don't crave bakery type sweets often but when I do want something, will definitely come back here to grab a treat or two since there's so many things that you'll want to try.

Small bakery with really good desserts. The cannoli was crispy, perfectly baked and the truffle ball thicc, really sweet though. Would come back.

Fratelli Authentic Italian Baking - glad we gave it another shot.

10 months later we were back in Vancouver and because we were at the Italian deli next door, we wanted to pop in and give Fratelli Authentic Italian Baking another shot. And I'm glad we did. This time we enjoyed everything that we ordered. The cookies however, are good, but they're just good cookies. Buttery and delicious; not worth $1.50 in my opinion. What was really good was the nut bar slice. I don't recall what it was called, but it's a triangle with a crust and pressed nuts and coconut in it and then topped with chocolate; REALLY good. As were the brownies and the eclairs. I'm glad we went back - and will keep coming back whenever we are in country.

A day that I will never forget! I went to Vancouver for a week vacation. After paddle boarding, we decided to find some treats. We found this pastry shop in yelp and decided to try after checking the reviews. It was closing when I arrived (I didn't notice) but the owner was really nice, he came back and asked me to go in and open the store just for me before leaving. (I don't know where else to go if he didn't do that) Anyway, besides the awesome treatment, PASTRIES were AMAZING. Lot's of varieties to choose from. And the sweetness is just right. It was really an AWESOME experience. I hope I can find a shop like this in my province.

I love this Italian bakery!! They have a wide variety of pastries and sweets. Big and small. I can't name them all here. If you love European sweets, you should visit this bakery and check it out. One of my coworkers bought a box of pastries and sweets. We all loved them. Even the ones who are super healthy or health conscious could not resist the pastries and sweets!! They were just so good and delicious!! If you eat them, you cannot worry too much about calories or fat. I would like to give them a "LIKE"!

Italian desserts? Sounds good! I stopped by on the weekend and picked up a bunch of different pastries. Everything was okay, but the puff pastry canoli filled with custard was my favorite. I would definitely return for this. The guy working there was really nice and helpful too!

Cannoli one of my favorite Italian desserts. Ever since my buddy Rino got me hooked in Toronto, it is the only Italian pastry I look forward to having regardless of my diabetic challenges or not. I would starve myself all day to reduce my blood sugars just to have one freshly made. Which I've only had in Toronto. A place accross a certain restaurant where the day after a Mafia mob shooting happened. But I'd still risk going back to that area. Well this is Vancouver and far away from any Mafia but I swear there is something sinful about their Sicilian cannoli that has a rich past. They're smaller and pack a nice crunch against the soft sweet filling. If you've never had one before. Try one. I always go there to get my sugar rushing fix when my blood sugar is low. Oh My!

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.
