Cute attention to detail on each item

My parents took me to their favorite bakery in Stevenson and this place did not disappoint. Their selection of baked savory and sweet goodies was vast. We came by for a coffee break and ordered a cinnamon roll and chicken curry empanada to try and both were delicious. The location is on a quiet street with plenty of parking and some indoor and outdoor seating which was super convenient. I'll be back to try some of their amazing cakes that look picture perfect and I bet takes delicious.

I love the quality of the delicacies and pastries here . Warm and cozy environment . Free wifi just ask the server . Super clean restroom which is always a higher sign of excellence by the owners & staff

Thinnest slice of cake from a bakery. Espresso chocolate fudge. Not great.

I was excited to try the blackforest cake, well actually donut, here after reading a Yelper mentioned the strong cherry liqueur. I am on a quest to find a good blackforest cake in metro vancouver, to match the best I had in a German cafe in Singapore (of all places). I figured I really like that version because it did not stint on the liqueur and the cake texture was fluffy soft with the right amount of cream and chocolate. I digress. I was looking for blackforest cake and did not see it. So I ordered the espresso chocolate fudge cake instead. Then I saw blackforest donut and ordered that too. I walked out of the bakery and went to the bench a few steps away so that I could take a picture of the goodies. The donut had a white frosting. I looked at it, feeling puzzled. White? Blackforest? Luckily I usually take pictures of food I buy so that I can remember the description. I looked at the photos and discovered I was given the Earl grey donut instead. I was so disappointed as I really wanted blackforest so I went back to the store, intending to get the blackforest donut. However when I told the owner I was given the wrong donut, she immediately took the box and replaced it. That was great but then I saw her put the Earl grey donut on a plate and into a fridge at the back of the shop. I just hope that piece will not be put out again on the display case to be sold to other customers later. Though I did not touch or breathe over the donut and I only opened the box to take a pic and immediately close it, I will still be very concerned about the hygiene since it has left the shop. That said, the blackforest donut was not bad. I did not really taste the blackforest part of it but the donut texture was nice. It was cake like and fluffy soft like a sponge cake. I did not really like the cream or frosting. The espresso chocolate fudge cake was the thinnest slice I ever had from a cake shop. I did not like it. The fudge was had an oily creamy taste to it. It reminded me of those cakes in grocery stores.

Their donuts are absolutely fantastic. Try the earl grey donut (best paired with london fog; or if that's too much tea, have it with coffee). Just the right sweetness; really great texture to the donut (it's not chewy like crispy creme but more of a cake structure). There is really a complexity of flavoring at play here with the novelty flavors. Do be aware of the Black Forest cake: the cherry liquor is quite strong. COVID limitation is no indoor seating, limited customer in the store, sanitation and mask-wearing.

Matcha cake, matcha cheesecake, chocolate cake(s), mango cake

Have heard great things about the bakery from friends, and was eager to try it out. The price point is excellent (especially if you buy five pieces - they give you a sixth for free) and genuinely can't be beat. We tried a variety of cakes, the matcha cake, the matcha cheesecake, the mango cake, and a few of the chocolate ones (can't recall exactly what they're called), and while the mango cake was quite good, the cake portion of both the chocolate cakes and the matcha cake was a little on the dry side. Maybe it was a one off, but the cake portion was definitely more crumbly than anticipated. The mousse helped to make up for it, but it was a little disappointing considering the good things I'd heard about these cakes. Extra points for enforcing social distancing and making sure that patrons felt safe and respected space between one another. Overall, 5 stars for service, but 3 stars for the cakes themselves.

    TRIPLE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE CAKE

I used to frequent Diplomat Bakery since my tutor centre was nearby. For Mother's Day, we ordered the Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake. I loved how chocolatey the cake was. The layers consisted of dark chocolate, cream, and sponge cake. Second cake we got was the Bailey's Dark Chocolate Cake. I preferred the Bailey's cake as it wasn't as sweet as the triple chocolate mousse. Both cakes were very fluffy and dense. For all the dark chocolate fans out there, definitely stop by if you're near the area.

Has yet to try their signature The Diplomat Cake. But all the donuts and cakes we've tried so far are all very very good. They have the ube soufflé cheesecake, which is my favourite. It's a bit more dense than Uncle Tetsu, but the soufflé-ness is also there. Their donuts with buttercream filling inside the icing were soooo sooooo good!

One of my favourite cake place of all time. I remember my very first pavlova cake from them back at least 10 years ago! We were in the area and just stopped by, love the new vibe, and the cake never disappoints :) Can't go wrong with buy 5 get 1 free either! Must try!!!

Diplomat Bakery has been operating in the Steveston Village area for as long as I can remember. I've tried their tiramisu cake a couple of years ago and honestly, thought it was average. I decided to come back to give it another try! It's good to give second chances, right? Right off the bat, service needed improvement. The girl operating the cashier did not smile one bit. She was standing there playing with her nails. I was deciding what to order and asked her if the matcha latte was available in both hot and cold (some cafes don't offer both so I wanted to make sure) and she looked up from playing with her nails, paused, and replied "yes" in a way that made it seem like it was a stupid question. Then she went back to playing with her nails. We ordered a matcha latte, hazelnut cake, and ham and cheese croissant. Matcha Latte - I enjoyed this! This was hard to mess up since was just matcha powder and soy milk (I asked for soy milk and no sugar). Ham and Cheese Croissant - My bf said this was quite yummy, but would've been better warmed up. Hazelnut Cake - I was a little surprised that this was quite small. I wish there was less cream and more cake. The shortbread cake added a nice crunch, but was a little hard. This was mediocre. The bakery is small inside - 3 round tables and a few window seats. My biggest pet peeve is that the cafe only has two outlets (I could find) and no wifi (only Shaw Open). Perhaps this was their strategy to prevent people from staying too long? But this is a big deterrent for me.

Very nice and not expensive bakery for such nice cakes. And buy 5 get 1 free? Can't get anywhere else. My favourite is the European cheesecake. OMG it's so special and good. There's this pear-like filling inside a rich rich cheesecake. I will eat as much of this as I can. The triple chocolate that my little insisted to get was surprising good too. Perfect balance of different kind of chocolate without being too sweet. I also liked their brandy chocolate and hazelnut cake. Yum! Haha if you don't want plain bday cake, you can totally buy many flavours but reassemble into a full cake haha

They're open for takeout! Cakes (ranking order):1 matcha cake 2 triple chocolate mousse 3 hazelnut cake 4 mango cream cheesecake 5 white baileys chocolate cake 6 red velvet cake My personal favourite is the matcha cake because it's really creamy and mild. Personally a must if I'm going back. 10/10 Triple chocolate mousse cake 10/10 didn't expect to like this as much I did because I prefer vanilla over chocolate. Chocolate is super rich and creamy. It's delightful and perfect for any chocolate lover. Hazelnut cake 8.5/10 it was good and nutty. I liked the dense biscuit layer at the bottom. One of my sister's top picks. Mango cream cheesecake 8.5/10 The mango taste is sweet but I wish there was real mangos. It didn't taste like a traditional cheesecake but I'm glad I tried it once. Personally won't get again. White Baileys chocolate cake 8/10 did a more in-depth review but it's good but almost too rich. Personally won't get it again because I've tried it before and not the biggest fan. Red velvet 7.5/10 personally not a fan of this flavour but others may enjoy it! It's a very dense cake and I felt like it was the most heavy. The flavours weren't as prominent as I would have liked. Personally won't get again.

A true hidden gem near Steveston area!!! This little small coffee shop has the one thing I love and absolutely adore. Cakes. Their cake variety is endless so many options. And currently they have a deal where 6 cakes is only $22! We got the tiramisu, hazelnut cake, mango cheesecake, blueberry cheesecake, triple chocolate, and the Bailey chocolate cake! * My favorite one out of the 6 is a battle between the hazelnut chocolate cake and the triple chocolate cake! The cakes were super moist, chocolatey, and delicious! I loved how the hazelnut had a crunchy bottom while the rest of the cake was creamy and moist! The taste of hazelnut was present and not too overpowering! * The triple chocolate cake was super moist and it's definitely a cake that satisfies your cravings for chocolate. I love chocolate cake and this one was one of the moistest cakes I've had. The chocolate moose inside the cake adds a nice texture to the cake, and the dark chocolate coating on the outer side of the cake was just the perfect amount. * Overall the cakes were good, not too sweet (don't get the blueberry cheesecake, it wasn't that good and had an artificial and odd flavouring at least to me) but do get the chocolate cake!. * Only thing I wished was that the service and customer service was better as my mom and I were deciding on cakes the girls rolled her eyes and looked annoyed we were taking so long. Which cause our experience to go to 2 stars otherwise it would've been way higher. * Still love the cake though! ------------------------------

    Tom B.

Absolute worst waste of space bakery in greater Vancouver we asked for their best selling item which was the diplomat cake slice result an over buttered Neapolitan slice with the consistency of dry buttered cardboard for about 4.50 give me a break this place only exists because there is no other bakery for miles but really serving this bad product give me a break the homeless shelter has better desserts this place makes pop tarts out of your toaster taste like a French decadent dessert you just robbed me with this garbage Also when going to this place you may notice the building posts are made from repurposed sawdust board yikes hopefully the roof or support beams doesn't fall on your head when visiting from one of our super rainy wet months in Vancouver this place is a hazard to your sweet tooth stay and the repurposed sawdust building products doesn't leave a safe feeling when visiting this place

You can really taste the effort and pride in the chestnut puree--it's smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. The staff are warm, friendly, and clearly proud of their craft, which adds to the charm of the experience. This is absolutely one of those places worth lining up for.
