    Christmas tree hanger
    Kit Yee Y.

I always drove by this bakery but finally I visited it over the weekend. I arrived around 5pm, so it was the end of the day that they almost sold out most of the cookies and pastries. They have a ticket system, so customers must get a number and wait for a server to call. The bakery has two doors. One is going in and one is exiting due to covid. The bakery has bread, lots of cookies and pastries, and savoury items like veggie and sausage rolls. I bought their Christmas tree hangers which were very cute (see photos) and a couple of sausage rolls. The Christmas tree hangers were ginger bread cookies with chocolate coating and a small Christmas decoration. I am keeping one for myself and give the rest to others. The sausage rolls tasted fine but not super outstanding. I would recommend others to come here if they would like to buy cookies, bread and pastries. They have a wide variety of items. Sometimes I find it's hard to choose when there are so many options. There is free street parking nearby, so it's very convenient.

a birthday cake decorated with purple roses

We ordered a birthday cake and it was so beautifully decorated, especially a sprinkle of gold added another dimension. The butter cream was not too sweet but it was just right. Everyone commented that the cake is so good. The staff (Daniella) who took the order was so kind and patient to explain to me what my options are before deciding. I love this classy Italian bakery in the neighborhood!

I was happy to see that this bakery is still around after being in the same neighbourhood for decades. I had the opportunity to check out the place again after a long absence. They provided an assortment of baked goodies for the holidays - Christmas cake, Christmas stollen, sugar cookies, pastries and cakes. I only bought a loaf of currant bread which was baked to perfection. It had plenty of currants which was still fresh after a couple of days. Not like other bakeries that have a few bits of raisins in each slice. It was under $5 a loaf. I don't mind paying a bit extra if it's good. I wasn't disappointed. They sell an assortment of breads, rolls, cookies, and cakes. Unfortunately, if you're one or two people, it doesn't work if you have to buy 12. They don't offer single quantities to purchase. They also sell vegan products along with frozen puff pastry. My only concern is that it's a small place and having more than 15 patrons inside made me feel a little uneasy with Covid. Too bad they didn't limit a certain number of people inside.

When you walk in your nose is filled up with the aroma of baked goods. I have been going to this local bakery since I was a toddler and this location must be around since the beginning of time. I walk by this bakery and it is very hard to resist not to go in. If you are trying to fulfill your sweet tooth and plan not to count calories this place is always worthwhile to get your bake goods. From chocolate chip cookies to Black Forest cakes (tasty fresh cream) Mocha cake is divine and the seductive vanilla slices - writing this wants me to go back for more - the list is endless. Parking could be tricky if you park there during rush hour and is harder to find. On the weekends it can be busy too, but there is more parking on the side streets. Be prepared to wait, especially during the holidays like Easter and Christmas. Overall I find Valley can be quite busy but it's well worth waiting as it gives you more time to look at more goodies. The ladies that help you there are awesome. I remember when I got there just before closing 6:00 pm one of the ladies that work there had asked me to close the small window above the door on countless occasions - and every time I did I got a free cookie! Is that value added service or what..? I will come back and refrain myself :P Oh one more thing - Bring back the twist cookies!!!!

I can recommend everything that I've ever purchased here but the list would be very very long. So delicious - classic bakery items. Best rumballs in town.

Valley Bakery is a small family business bakery on Hastings. They have tons of cookies and cakes. I love their strawberry mousse cupcake with dark chocolate shell. It's so light, but bursting with strawberry flavor. The prices are low and they take credit cards too. #30DaysOfYelp 30/30

What used to be twist cookies. Appearances do matter

This was once my favourite bakery by far. Unfortunately things have been been going down hill lately. More and more often the pastries can be stale tasting: even the custom ordered birthday cake. I bought Christmas fruit cake this year and it was so stale that I couldn't even slice it. It crumbled no matter how thick I made the slice. Now they have taken their famous Twist cookies and made them into flat little biscuits. See picture attached. I can only imagine this is an attempt to make them easier and cheaper to make, but appearance does matter. I wouldn't serve these to guests. The store is constantly understaffed and there has been a help wanted sign in the window for months. Sad to see a neighbourhood institution seem to be failing.

This is a bakery located on Hastings. Got a deal on Social Shopper here before in the past and that's how I got introduced to this place. The store is quite big. Parking is ok. Can be hard to find at times. This place is busy and depending what cake you are ordering, you need 1 day advance notice. Got a cake here during Christmas Time. Their egg nog log cake. That was pretty good. Not too sweet and the cake is nice and fluffy. You can taste the egg nog quite well. Once in awhile if I am in the hood I would go and buy some of the buns. If you buy in a bag they are quite cheap. They have a paper numbering system to keep people in their line.

This is hands down the best bakery in town. They use fresh ingredients and real cream because if you let the pastries sit outside for too long, they actually go bad unlike the stuff you get from elsewhere that lasts decades and you know it's because they're loaded with chemicals and preservatives. I am obsessed with their mocha slices, they are to die for. The eclairs and tiramisu cups are also very delicious. They're always super busy so make sure you go on a weekday.

    Kenneth N.

Good little Dutch bakery in the hood, nice to support local. Ordered the lemon cupcakes, $3.45 for 3pcs, albeit tiny ones, is enough sugar lol. friendly service. too bad the eclairs were sold out, but the cream puffs were there. Will have to find a signature winner from here in order to get a 4star.

We entered and joined the line, very earthy ambience with plenty of tables though very busy and full. Woodsy, and very clean. Sounds of all the patrons enjoying themselves with banter or working on their laptop whilst enjoying some beverage or food. I ordered the chocolate slice cake, wifey got a berry croissant and we got a tiramisu tart and tiramisu box to go. I ordered a house coffee just for something to drink with the cake and wifey also got a mocha. The cake was very good, not super sweet(for regular person) I'm diabetic so this was probably a bit much for me but I wanted to try. The butter cream in between each layer of chocolate sponge cake was smooth. The chocolate ganache was shiny and soft. I personally like more cake in general but this is a solid cake if you like butter cream and chocolate!. Wifeys croissant was full of cream on top and in the middle. Very soft and good for whipped cream lovers. The berries were large and sweet. Baked goods on terms from the ones we partook in were very good. Definitely understand why this is a popular place and always busy. Check it out!

This cafe is a good spot to catch up with friends over coffee and pastries that is transit-friendly. This time I came for brunch with my fiancé and we shared the fried chicken platter, and ordered the Spanish latte and iced mocha as our drinks. The food and drinks were good but for the price point, I wouldn't come back for brunch. I feel like this cafe is definitely overhyped and pricey compared to other local spots.

The pastries are delicious and crafted so beautifully. I came here for hot chocolate festival and the flavours were spot on. A tad sweet but it's hot chocolate. Sadly, the sticky rice texture mixed with croissant was not the best. The service here is great. Staff are friendly. The only downside to this store is the way their line up system works. They have 2 store areas, connected by the till. It's a bit hard to pass through when there are people waiting in line to pay, waiting on line to order, etc. Just a bit of awkward spacing

My cousin recently had Cory from HEY! CAKE THIS! Make a cake for her and below is what she said:…read more YEY!!! I found my forever cake designer and maker for all my family celebrations! I wasn't going to write any reviews because I just don't want to spend time doing it. But when I showed pictures of the cake Cory created for my daughter to my family and friends, I knew I had to write one. I was also reminded by my cousin and sisters about that rip off cake I received last year for my son. The cake we all called the Photocopy cake ( see review for Yummy Yonnie Cakes) But first, let me tell you about CORY'S cakes from HEY CAKE THIS! Cory does not limit the style, colour, theme, flavour, filling or size of the cake. He gives his clients free range. But keep in mind, price will obviously go up the more elaborate your imagination. If you can imagine it. He will create it! I reached out to Cory to get an idea of how much a Poppy cake would be and I even sent a picture I found online to him for reference. I told him to put many flowers and make the cake pink. I wanted strawberry filling, with fresh strawberries and a vanilla cake. Boy did he deliver! The cake I received exceeded my expectations. Everything on that cake was fondant. He cut out all the flowers, the letterings, the number, AND the star of the cake.... POPPY! He made a 2D Poppy! Nothing on that cake was a photocopy image stuck onto sugar paper. Look carefully at Poppy. Her dress, the eyes and mouth. So much details. Cory handprinted some of the details on her too. I commented on his Poppy and how I appreciated him not doing a photocopy image. He told me if the image is not complex he will do all it all freehand. I only gave I'm a week and a half for this cake too! Due to the pandemic, Cory offered free delivery. He wanted to make sure his cake was in the best condition for his clients. Cory is also very considerate. When he arrived, he actually took out a fold up table to place his cake on. He did not want to put the cake on the floor or ground where it could pick up germs. After he put it on the table, he stepped back (social distancing) so that I could take it. The box the cake came in was GOLD with a pink ribbon to complete the look. Did you know he actually MAKES all his boxes the cakes go into? No cheap see through cellophane. But a nice gold colour cardstock box. This is better because if the cake was to be a surprise , the box will definitely keep the cake hidden. My kids recycled the box and make gold cut out starts and crowns for their dolls. Cory is definitely a master cake creator. He will not disappoint. The communication between him and I for the cake was awesome. Before he went ahead with anything he was unsure of, he reached out to me. He wanted to make sure his suggestions was something I would also like. Vancouver is fortunate to have their own 'Duff Goldman'. I regret not having found him sooner to make my cakes. The Photocopy cake was an expensive lesson. Don't go to a place that limits you or brush your feedback off. GO TO CORY from HEY CAKE THIS! You won't be disappointed! I look forward to my two other cakes in the next few weeks! I will post it here as well for everyone to see. His work speaks for itself. All his reviews are excellent. Nothing less than 5 stars. I wish I can give him 10 stars! Cory's custom cakes ARE worth the splurge 1-2 or even 3 times a year! Thank you Cory!
