I came here to pick up some treats while in the Steveston neighbourhood. I got a maple brioche, pistachio raspberry tart, and an earl gray and cranberry scone. It is quite a small store inside with no seating but I did appreciate how it had a ramp to get inside as I had my stroller with me that day. I would have to say that every single one of the baked goods that I got were absolutely phenomenal and I cannot wait to be back to try more of their selections. read more

Clean place. The person serving is very helpful and accommodating. Would definitely come back.

I don't know how I always overlooked this little corner shop over the years. I go to the British store very often and this is right across it. Maybe it is the timing as this place is only open Wednesday to Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm. Do come early if you like to see the full range of goodies. There is usually not much choices towards the end of the day. But everything is still good. Due to covid safety protocols, you cannot enter the shop. You place your order at the little counter set up at the door. This means I usually miss out on items as I do get flustered (when there is a line behind me) trying to see what is available and making my order quickly. Payment is cash or debit. Besides the cakes and tarts, there are also croissants, madeleines, soup etc. I usually just get the cake stuff as somehow my eyes zoom in on them and I only notice the baked goods when they are preparing my items. While I do like the cakes and tarts, I do not think they are wow. But it is still better than many places here. Set your expectations lower if you are used to more refined French desserts to avoid disappointment. read more

This is a 3.5 stars for me. I was happy to find a really great lemon tart in a small, unassuming cafe / pastry kiosk further away from 'downtown' Steveston. At 3:30pm the shops pastry case is just about cleared out, I was able to snag the last few items, two lemon tarts and a peach frangipane. As a lemon lover, the lemon tarts hit the spot. It had a higher tang to sweet ratio, though the center was a bit more liquidy than what I had in mind. The peach frangipane was alright, I felt that the almond paste was too overpowering with an almond extract after taste, it was just a bit too artificial tasting for my liking. Overall, a good experience, slightly pricier for a mere pastry-to-go kind of spot. read more

Small and cute bakery with great croissants. Quick service. Win all around. Try it out.

Omg I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place. It's basically what they have on hand is what they sell. They make it all fresh daily and sell it all throughout the day. Their sweets are amazing!! We just finished lunch and decided to check the sweet spot out and we're glad we did. Just look at the photos of the food. It tastes better than the pictures can show. They're coffee was really good too. I had to get a refill before I left. If you're looking for a good treat after a nice meal, this is the place to go! You won't be disappointed. read more

This is a true little gem of a bakery! Located in Steveston Village on Chatham St. at the corner of 1st Ave - it is a must for desert lovers! This joint kinda just grew on me - for some reason I never gave it the time of day. Slowly but surely over time - one desert after another & voila - I had to do a review! A few nights ago, I had their Chocolate pot de creme after dinner at home that had me on a real high - magnificent! I suddenly remembered my fav desert from TSS - the ultra delightful Banana Caramel Cream Tart! One of the best deserts I've ever had - you must try it! Make sure you call ahead though as TSS is constantly changing their menu items! Please note everything is made fresh for sale daily (when they're open) & once sold out - they're sold out! You can call ahead to check availability or set up a preorder. Keep in mind as well that menu items change weekly - so you should be willing to try something new if you can't find what you had in mind - I don't think you'll be disappointed! I really enjoyed my breakfast ham, cheese & tomato croissant! And the Salt Spring coffee was top notch! If you're in the neighbourhood, pop in! read more

I wouldn't say I'm dessert connoisseur, but, I love dessert and become a hobby of mine to try every dessert in or out town. My friend kept telling me Sweet Spot is the best pastry shop at Steveston Village. Really? Another hidden gem in town? On sunny cold weekend, we drove all the way to Steveston for lunch then checked out Sweet Spot. The owner was friendly and greeted us well. She introduced few items to me as their signature desserts and I bought all of it. Almond croissant & Pain au chocolat - flaky and buttery, just ok. I liked Thomas Hass or Beaucoup more! Chewy coconut macaroons - sweet, moist, and chewy on the inside with a delightfully crisp exterior. My husband said, the texture so good but too too sweet! New York cheesecake - It's good and rich. Perfect to us! Lemon meringue tart - mediocre and sweet! Chocolate pot de crème - quite smooth, tasted like saccharine! Valrhana milk chocolate truffle tart - milk chocolate sappy and tart shell hard as a rock! I had 2 spoons of chocolate pot and truffle tart, really cloying and trashed it. Well, they are honor to the name "Sweet Spot", all the pastries were overly sweet! Definitely not my sweet spot! read more

This is seriously my new to-go Richmond bakery for pretty much everything. First of all, I want to emphasize the fact that their cakes are very affordable (less than $5 for a small individual cake) and extremely delicious! Their cakes are much better their diplomat bakery's and the location is far more accessible. I would honestly say that their cakes are as good as the ones you can get in downtown (such as Faubourg or Thierry) and I kind of want to say that it's a higher-quality version of Breka! The shop is extremely tiny, with perhaps two bar stools, so most people buy to go. Since Steveston is such a gorgeous area, we usually pick up a few pastries and cakes and have them by the water. I honestly loved the cakes so much that I decided to order a New York cheesecake for my friend's graduation! The 7 inch cake costed around $37+ after tax, which is actually comparable to the whole cakes at Thierry. It was definitely worth it though and everybody loved it! I'm not much of a tart person but the tarts here are seriously so delicious. I know that this is getting a bit repetitive, but I would also recommend their cookies, scones, and macarons as well! read more

Wished there were more places of this kind on the main road in Richmond! being as far south as one can possibly go, it's quite the trip down here to Steveston. Cozy, corner spot, and a bit cramped just from peeking at the goodies inside the display; no more than 2 can comfortably view. Lots of goodies: lemon tarts, caramel eclairs, which amazingly I resisted. If it wasn't for the big meal at Mega sushi, and the heat, so I settled on the double chocolate gluten free, pecan cookie. good crunch and chewiness, easy repeat. i'm a sucker for cookies with a glass of milk anyday. Friendly service. window action seating at front. only debit card option. read more

The Sweet Spot is our favourite little bakery - so many things on offer are just excellent. The flourless chocolate cookie is my go to treat when wandering around the village. We've eaten most things on offer; croissants, cookies, flans, tarts...I don't recall having anything that wasn't consistently excellent. If you get the brioche bread - take it home and you can make French toast that is out of this world. Ordered the 8" black forest cake and it was absolutely amazing! Absolutely delicious! Nice texture, three layers, not overly sweet, great presentation, the liqueur soaked cherries were perfect! Would definitely order again and again! Also ordered some pastries: maple pecan brioche, Apple danish, fruit and custard danish, birdsnest, coconut macaroon, and can't remember the last thing, we ate it so fast. Everything was so good! Everything had a nice texture, not too rich or doughy. Well sized, so you can cut and share. Too bad we live too far away to frequent this place more often. I had my hands full with the cake box and all, so the cashier went out of her way to open the door for me! She had also pointed out the goodies on the shelf behind her which I wouldn't have noticed if she didn't. Just a couple of seats in front of the window so more of a take out place. I really love their croissants and biscotti and can't recommend them enough. Their service is always cordial as well. The only thing I could ask them to change is their no credit card payment policy. It was mildly annoying before the coronavirus pandemic, and now it's downright dangerous to be handling cash. I don't carry paper cash around anymore and was lucky to be able to scrounge up enough coins in the car the last time I was there so I could walk away with their great food. Oh and they should update their operating hours on Google. It shows that they open from 8am most days when it is now from 9am. read more

Once again, Keiren and The Sweet Spot came through. My order of peach scones on Sunday was perfect in every way. They freeze perfectly and reheat in (from frozen) in a convection oven to a nice crusty scone with a soft and crumbly centre. This is my favorite bakery/dessert shop here in Metro Vancouver. Affordable and good selection of pastries. I love their croissants (almond, chocolate, plain) all of it! So flaky and airy :) Their coconut macaroons are great as well! Make sure you come early or else it's already sold out... Their dessert selection often change and I think that is a good thing. :) If you like mousses, don't forget to try their chocolate mousse with hazelnut praline (if they have it) 'coz that's my ultimate fave! They also have a frozen foods fridge. Try the meatballs! They're great! Keiran and Kirsten, the owners, are very nice and friendly! Both of them are extremely good at their craft :) read more

I think this is probably my favourite bakery in Richmond. It's a cute and small little cafe on the corner and I love that! Mmmm...! Best dark chocolate, flourless, non dairy cocoa cookie I've had in a while! Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. How did they do it? Cute little country style fresh pastry shop in the heart of Steveston Village, or as it's known around there, "Storybrooke" (Apparently they film the series "Once Upon a Time" on the main street of the village there and change all the shop signs for the shoots.) The sweet spot hits the spot. Sorry, I've been waiting to use that line. The macarons here are exceptional. Not too sweet and just the right amount of chewiness. Pains au chocolat? Aw yiss. Chocolate mousse desserts in those stylish square cups? Help me now. I love that you can speak directly to the baker about the fine products he's making. The staff are really nice and will happily offer great recommendations. I do wish the storefront was larger because it's kind of tough to sit and enjoy a pastry inside if it's busy. It's a good thing I don't live near Richmond, or I'd be poor and fat(ter). read more

I give two stars because they do not match my expectation since their reviews are that good. They do not have as many items available as in the picture that is posted on their website nor as in the reviews; the whole second shelf of the desserts' fridge is empty. So I just bought a mousse cake and a frangipane tart to try. The mousse cake is layer with dark choco. sponge, caramel mousse, milk choco. mousse, sour cherry mousse, and the bottom is hazelnut crunch biscuit. The mousse is close to a cream texture; it can be less sweetened with stronger flavour instead. The taste of the dark choco. sponge is similar to the one in supermarket. Only the hazelnut crunch biscuit base is good but still can be less sweetened. The rhubarb frangipane tart tastes just like an ordinary tart that you can get it elsewhere - almond filling with pieces of rhubarb on top with pistachio bits. The tart skin can be less browned. Overall, I would say the price is just for the fancy look of the desserts and the location - Steveston. When I went in, there was no one there and I saw the small sign 'Please ask for service' on the freezer door. A moment later a man looked out from the back and said, "There's customer" and he disappeared. He then looked out again after a moment and he said hi as I looked at him and he said, "Someone will be right with you." A girl came out after a moment and she served with smile and said thanks at the end, and they gave silver plastic fork to customer instead of the regular plastic forks. However, I don't think I would go back because I was disappointed with the selection that were available, and I expected better quality of their desserts with their prices. read more

Although the staff is great, the pastries aren't as good as they used to be. They're not sweet at all.

I adore pastries so it's not hard to earn 5 stars when it comes to any bakeries but I must say, the almond croissant and pain du chocolate are amazing. A bit sweeter than I would prefer, the almond croissant had plenty of filling and had strong almond flavour. The croissant itself was flaky and crisp but didn't leave my hands covered in grease. The pain du chocolate was just as good with layers of light dough encasing a semisweet chocolate stick. All in all, a great place for decadent baked goods in Stevenson! read more

Walking into the shop, you will be mesmerized by the mini tarts and cakes that are displayed. On the other hand, there are cookies, brioche sticky buns, brownies, macaroons and many more European pastries waiting to be eaten. Their almond croissants are flaky and doesn't make my hands oily like other croissants out there. I absolutely love their flour-less chocolate cookie! It is $2.75 but it is worth it. Their cakes and tarts are never the same because they use whatever is fresh or whatever they choose to bake on that day. I go on Sundays for breakfast there and they always have a new breakfast item such as a brioche sandwich or a croissant sandwich with tomatoes with the rest of the usual sweet pastries. My family no longer buys a birthday cake and instead we buy mini cakes and tarts from the Sweet Spot. $4.50 for each cake and tart is not pricey at all when they all look like a work of art. However, each time I visit, the lady behind the counter is not really friendly. After just looking at the selection for five seconds, she would ask me what I would like in an impatient tone of voice. It doesn't help when she also has an impatient look on her face. When a frequent customer comes in, she becomes energetic and chats with them. The inconsistent warmth when welcoming and serving customers is why I give 4 stars instead of a 5. read more

Amazing. I popped in here on a whim and walked out a little light in the pocket but very happy. They make their own ice cream in house and their caramel one tastes like creme caramel, just delicious.
