This place is inconspicuously located in the heart of Yaletown. The storefront is simple and can be easily overlooked. The inside has a contemporary industrial feel which really suits the vibe of Yaletown's warehouse buildings to T. The beverages are mainstream prices but the food items are definitely pricier than most. I had to try Earl Grey croissant and my friend tried the pistachio croissant. The exterior is darker than I would like for a croissant, almost half burnt but I think it was intentional. Very crunchy and you can see the layers even from the outside. I like that the Earl Grey cream is very smooth and creamy. The flavour is not too strong which allows you to taste the base of the croissant. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her pistachio. There is more than just cream in hers, it appears to be a thick pistachio-flavored spread. Again the flavors are there but not super strong. For an average price of $5.50 for each pastry item, this may not be an everyday stop for most. It's worth checking it out. read more

The croissants were good, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the custard for matcha and Earl Grey was both alright. The kouign amann was not as good as I thought cuz there was too much sugar in the middle of it which was unexpected. read more

Craving a croissant and with extra change in the pocket, I made a trek over to Angus T today. They had a nice display of a variety of croissants at the front and there was plenty of seating behind. Though they were not actively producing croissants when I went in, I found it a nice touch that they kept their kitchen open through glass windows. I noted that this could be a nice spot to get some work down on my laptop or catch up with some friends in the future. Their croissants come in a decent size. There are both sweet and savory options, and they have a variety of cinamon rolls too. Menu items range between $5-7, which is definitely more on the expensive end for a croissant, but I was prepared to pay the price, given their more upscale branding. I tried the Green Tea Croissant, which was $5.45 plus tax. What drew me to choosing this one out of the dozen of other options was how this one was half dipped in a green tea chocolate. The inside was filled with a green tea chocolate cream. There was a nice balance between the crispy exterior and moist interior. While I do love an authentic flakey croissant, I liked that this one was less on the flakey side as it made it less messy to eat. There was not much lamenation in the croissant, so definitely not your authentic croissant, but this may have been due to the filling being enclosed completely around the dough. Surprisingly, the croissant did not taste too sweet either. I find the store front is also easy to miss, as it has a rather industrial/dim and the store name is in a thin handwriting font. I have overlooked the store on various occasions casually strolling through Yaletown. Overall, Angus T makes a nice addition to the row of restaurants along Mainland St. in Yaletown. I think they were able to maintain their value prop pretty well - the product delivered and the space was nice. Its nice to see more cafes/bakeries opening up in the area, as often I do prefer a good cafe rather than a bar to catch up with friends. Will probably try their coffee next time, which won't be until pay days and I have extra spare change to treat myself. When a croissant ranges anywhere between $5-7, it really is hard to rational coming on a regular basis. read more

Come here for the croissants! They're honestly the best croissants I've ever had, super flaky and buttery. I've tried the original, almond, green tea, and ham and gruyere flavors and love them all. Definitely get them toasted/heated up if it's not a cream filled one. Try to come earlier in the day as they do sometimes sell out. The coffee is also decent, although I find it nothing too special. read more

These guys have great coffee and great service think he has done a wonderful job and the pastries are always fresh they sell out they must be great love the service love the staff very very clean they do a great job well done and congratulations on your second year read more

Obsessed with their crossant. Must have bought one almost every day during my month stay in Vancouver. Very fresh!!

5 stars for amazing croissants. 1 star for not being right next to my home where I can visit daily and stuff my face with beautiful, buttery, flaky, glorious goodness. Place has a line before 9 am. Either because they're one of the few places open that serves grab and go breakfast, and/or, they serve these delicious baked goods. I wish they were closer! read more

I... I don't really get this place? Their croissants are surprisingly expensive, and just average. I've had better, cheaper ones at other cafes nearby. Much better espresso too. We were there first thing in the morning on a weekend, and tried both the plain croissant and the tuna one. Neither seemed particularly fresh or warm, just kind of bland and doughy. Staff was a little curt, then put our orders on the far end of the counter and yelled them out despite our being the only people in the place. Atmosphere is clean and modern. It's neat that you can sit at a bar and watch the kitchen through a glass wall, though nobody was baking while we were there. It's a beautiful kitchen and makes the narrow space feel brighter and less cavernous. read more

Angus T - Pain au Chocolat - Cafes Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

We decided to check out this establishment, with our daughter visiting us in Yaletown, we arrived around 1:30pm on a Sunday. Don't bother looking at their menu, what you see behind the glass is what you get --why then have a menu? When we inquired about other flavours, we were told they all sold out in the morning. Then why not make more? They literally only make croissants --not sandwiches, soups etc, so there's really no excuses (that's poor strategy). Out of the sparse four remaining varieties they had behind the glass display, we picked up 3 cinnamon buns, and 1 chocolate filled croissant, totalling just over $22. The clerk packed each item in a small paper thin sleeve, and handed the items on the counter. When I asked for a box, the clerk looked at us and in a smarmy tone "well there's three of you to carry them?!". I gave her a displeasured look and commented with a "whatever", and we proceeded to walk out. When we arrived home, we each had a cinnamon bun warmed up. In summary, they're nothing to write home about regarding flavour or texture, you can receive better at any Cinnabons, and for cheaper. The chocolate croissant we sampled, barely had any chocolate inside, it literally was on only one end. TLDR: Not recommended. Very little variety, subpar quality for price, and poor customer service. Many bakeries in Vancouver to choose from with superior quality, variety, and price. read more

Angus T - Croissant chocolate - sparsely filled (only in one end). - Cafes Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

I liked it. Croissant was big, airy, flaky. I got the mocha one. The filling had great flavor. The silky texture complimented the croissant well. Latte was decent. Lots of seats and tables. Service was sufficient. Parking is expensive in the area. Yaletown skytrain station is nearby. read more

Came here after seeing a Daily Hive article about it. The décor is modern, clean and minimalistic. They had quite a few croissant options shown on the menu but only a selection of those were actually available that day. I tried the ham and cheese ($7.25) and was a bit disappointed. There wasn't much ham and the gruyere cheese didn't have a strong enough flavour. For $7.25, this was a pricey croissant and I had higher expectations. read more

they ran out of the savory options in the morning (weekend). also kouign amann here. this city certainly loves their croissant varieties. able to come back for the ham gruyère croissant, crispy and tasty, also the bacon balsamic onion jam was delicious. buttery read more

This place definitely stood out to me when I saw an article about this "croissant centric bakery". So i decided to swing by here after work on the second day since they opened. As you entered you see plates of croissant by the cashier table displaying the options they have. They had 5 different croissant/pasteries to choose from - mango, almond, sugar glaze, ham and cheese and berry. I was hoping to see more variety and some more unique flavor since they cater to croissants, so i was a bit disappointed when I just saw the few options to choose from. I got the mango croissant and the ham and cheese and it came to a little over $14 for the two croissant. The mango croissant was quite nice and reminded me of a mango bubble tea, but I wished it had more mango toppings. The ham and cheese croissant was much the same as other places I have tried before. I'm a huge fan of croissants and I really hope this bakery will offer more variety later as they work their way in the business. read more

Always in search of a really good croissant my husband and I stopped in at Angus T to try the publicized hazelnut cruffin. Of course they didn't make them that day. No seats available except at the bar. Many young people on computers not eating or drinking anything. We watched the bakers make new croissants without gloves or hair nets. The young woman had just wiped down the marble counter with a rag and didn't wash her hands before rolling the dough! The croissants we did have wasn't crispy though the mocha hazelnut filling was good. Much better places like small victory on Homer. read more

Angus T's Mocha was one of the best I've had. This menu was a bit pricey, but the quality made up for it. I fancied there offering of almond and soy milk as a dairy substitute. The service was excellent, and I appreciated the simple menu. Sometimes choosing from too many options can be a nightmare. Angus is a great spot to sit and chat or work on a laptop. The croissants are made from buttery goodness as well. I wish I purchased another one. read more

I'm love croissants!!!! That being said, I'm a bit of a purist and prefer a plain, butter croissant. The butter croissants are delicious here. I was only visiting and regretted not getting more. The lamination was beautiful, creating flaky buttery goodness that were perfectly most and not too dry. If I visit again, I'm definitely making a stop. read more

The decor was nice and the presentation of items was beautiful but the croissant felt like it was undercooked. The inside tasted like dough and was very bread-y. It was on the sweeter side rather than buttery and flakey. For the prices you're paying, it's wasn't worth it. Left feeling very disappointed and dissatisfied. Since there are quite a few great bakeries in town, Angus T is inevitably going to be compared with Beaucoup, Thomas Haas or L'Atelier. Angus T definitely has the rest of them beat in terms of price at an average of 6 or 7 per croissant. In terms of presentation, most of the croissants looked great with plenty of layers. The highlight was the mango flavor that hit the right mix of sweet tartness among the buttery flakes. However, they were quite small in size when compared to its competition such as Beaucoup (their double baked seasonal croissants almost seemed twice as big as Angus T). On my second visit, I noticed there was a diversification in the menu where instead of purely croissant focused, they had elected to branch out into cinnamon buns. It in fact looked like there were more buns than croissants available. The croissants flavor available also seemed to have shrunk compared to my visit. It feels strange that not long after opening, its already shifting away from its core business - "croissants" but I guess there's only so many people who want a croissant in the city. There is only bar seating available which while allowing you to get a good view of the baking process, doesn't really entice you to hang around like a typical coffee shop. One minor thing I also noticed, the pastries were all stored in one of those commercial pastry tray racks near the cashier which doesn't really showcase how good they looked. read more

Was in the area and the free cinnamon bun samples brought us in; I remember reading about this bakery that specialized in croissants. They had a double baked almond croissant on the menu which I ordered and $7.10 later, I'm left feeling disappointed. There was a scant almond flavor, barely enough to recognize as almonds, the pastry was more on the bready side and not flaky enough. Meh, not good enough compared to all the other awesome bakeries we have around Vancouver. Also, way overpriced for a sub par pastry. read more

Extremely over priced for what it is. You can find croissants just as good for half the price at any neighbouring coffee shop.

Hands down best croissants in town. Very crispy but light and soft on the inside. The butter is just the right amount. It's not overly oily like a lot of croissants are.
