I wanted to give them 4 stars, but just can't. I hadn't been here for several years and was impressed with the new seating arrangement and openness of the dining area. Employees were very nice and attentive throughout the breakfast. Now, on to the food and this is why I only gave them 3 stars. The food was delicious, but there is obvious corner cutting in it's delivery which always bugs me. I ordered the chicken fried steak which I've had all over the country over the years. Their's is more of a breaded standard hamburger patty. It was good, just ridiculously small. The sausage gravy was limited to about 2 tablespoons worth with very little sausage in it. The potatoes were outstanding. They were crispy and delicious. The eggs were a perfect over easy. But the toast was just one piece of toast cut diagonally. I have never been out to breakfast anywhere that they only give you one piece of toast when you're ordering 2 eggs and chicken fried steak with gravy. This is being cheap. It's cutting corners to save money. What I really noticed was that they have no jelly for that toast unless you request it. They removed all the jelly stands with the jelly packets from all of their tables. Another cost cutting maneuver. The food is good, the service is great, but the owner is an obvious tight wad. It's sort of a waste of talent when the cook does a good job and the servers are all friendly and attentive. Raise the price a buck and throw in a second slice of toast and put the damn jelly back! read more

Being a foodie, I love visiting different places to eat when traveling. I won't return to a restaurant for a number of reasons. Customer service is one of them, which is utmost to me. It should be the top prior to the restaurant's. As it is very pricey to eat out. This time, customer service was not good. I ordered breakfast online for curbside pickup. Arrived on time for my pickup time 10:40. The app wasn't working, for me to check in, so I immediately, 10:41 go inside the restaurant where I first spoke with the hostess and told them I'm here to pick up a online curbside order, app not working, they quickly, oh check on the to go rack to the left, I walk over there nothing. It shouldn't be on a rack as it's a CURBSIDE order. Remind you I walked past the cashier who didn't acknowledge me as we did make eye contact. So I walked up to her, and I again told her the app wasn't working for me to checked in for my curbside order. She said, sorry about that. What's the name, let me check. Let remind you that the place was NOT busy at all, Okay, but she NEVER left the cashier counter, I assume she checked on the computer. I walked around, picked up a few items to purchase, 20 mins later, purchased the items, again asked can you checked on my order, as it should have been done already. She was like, oh um it'll be out shortly. Not checking nothing! again, she didn't leave the counter. Feeling brushed off by the staff of the establishment. Pissed now, I tried the app again as im walking out, and finally, it works. I checked in, and food comes right out, 5 mins later,11:05, but by this time, it is 25 mins later, after i arrive, and my food IS COLD!!!!! For the price, service, flavor and presentation of the food should have been excellent! Not even close in no terms..... That peach cobbler serving, insult, the worst serving size versus the price you pay...smh...so disappointing... I want a full refund. read more

This amazing place is small and out of the main flow of traffic. I normally go for the chicken fried steak, but this time, I decided to get the Eggs Benedict, and I have to say it was amazing. Met a friend for our monthly breakfast. We both have eaten here in the past and we decided to go here. Upon arriving at 8:30 and being seated by the greeter We looked at the menu and decided what we wanted. Meanwhile two other persons were seated after us. While we waited to be recognized by the staff their order was taken and put in. Meanwhile after waiting over 20 minutes no order taken and not even being offered anything we decided to walk out and take our business elsewhere. This used to be our "go to" (3 times a month) restaurant for breakfast until recently. Service always has been great, and that hasn't changed. What has changed is the consistency of the food coming to the table. Breakfast on Sunday was disappointing! My French toast was mushy in the center and my eggs, ordered over medium, had slimy, uncooked whites. My bacon, served on a separate plate, was way over cooked and cold. My husband ordered the Chicken Fired steak. He said it tasted packaged, and didn't have the regular handmade coating. The gravy was tasteless (flour & water with salt). Unfortunately it was not that great of an experience. our server name was Chris not very friendly wasn't rude either but really never checked up on us. I had to ask for a refill on my coffee and he did not offer my wife a refill just walked away that was the only time he checked up on us. Since this was our first time I really like chicken fried steak so I asked him if it was good he said yeah it was great. After receiving my plate unfortunately the chicken fried steak wasn't crispy and The breading was soggy. The gravy was good so were the potatoes. Since he never came around to check up on us my son joined us for breakfast I had to ask the hostess for help. This place was excellent. We came here on a weekday early-afternoon when it wasn't that busy (although, I imagine this place gets packed on weekends!) and we were immediately greeted by the hostess. We were sat within a couple minutes, and from there, greeted by our server (didn't catch her name). The overall atmosphere and feel of the restaurant was warm and welcoming (think, Cracker Barrel, but nicer). We both got water and orange juice to drink, and I ended up ordering the farmer's skillet, while my husband ordered the blueberry pancakes. Both were very good. Food was cooked well and tasted very good! I was definitely a fan. When we asked for our check, our server promptly brought it to us, along with a box for my leftovers. Overall, very good food and service! The one and only critique I have is the location- it was a little hard to find and not exactly in an ideal place where you would find a breakfast/brunch restaurant. Ya know....we've been to Crackers before.....a few times and was always pleased with the food and service. My husband and I went back last week after having not been there for several years. I ordered a hot pumpkin Latte. It tasted weird and was only lukewarm. I also ordered the parfait and a pumpkin muffin. The parfait was fine, but the muffin tasted off. I didn't complain, as I'm not a complainer, but I probably won't venture back there. My husband and I both agreed that the place seemed tired and in need of a refresh. This place was packed as expected on Sunday for brunch. Sat on the covered patio as the weather permitted us to do so. The waiter took our drink order and forgot about my drink all together. He brought it as soon as I reminded him. We both ordered carnitas dishes, and the person that brought the dishes to the table spilled salsa all over my girlfriends dress and hair. He didn't even acknowledge what he did, just said he would bring back some more salsa after he picked it up from the ground. I was helping her clean up when the waiter stopped by the table to see how the food was when I told him about the unpleasant experience. Some older ladies next to us even vouched for us after seeing the situation unfold. The waiter indicated he would notify his management team about the situation and was embarrassed about how the situation was handled. My husband and I stopped in for an impromptu breakfast this morning after I got off work. Immediately upon entering the cafe', I was greeted by a friendly hostess whom politely asked me for my name and explained it would be a 15-20 minute wait. My husband and I took a seat near the hostess station. It wasn't long before we were called. We were seated in the back at a nice table where we were handed menus and our waitress introduced herself to us. She was friendly and has the same name as our daughter--Rachel. She took our drink order and brought our coffee, cream, sugar with cold water right out to us quickly. We perused their delightful menu for both breakfast and lunch. They serve breakfast all day until they close at 2:30 pm and they serve lunch beginning at 10:30 am. We chose Belgium waffles. I ordered only the Belgium Waffle and my husband ordered the Belgium Waffle breakfast that comes with a choice of sausage or bacon and two eggs prepared anyway. We waited about 15 to 20 minutes for our food as it was busy. The wait was worth it! The Belgium waffles were thick and hearty. The syrup was yummy. The butter on top was really good. Everything was delicious and melt in your mouth goodness. We definitely will return in the near future. read more

Finally took a stop into Crackers on a Saturday morning and I was so impressed! The location definitely was a bit different than I expected (kind of in an industrial area with a lot of businesses around) but the inside was perfectly home-like and had a lot of seating! It was really busy when we went (around 9:45) and luckily only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. I ended up ordering the biscuits and gravy with the chicken fried steak and it was amazing! The biscuits were so fluffy and were loaded with a lot of gravy that was really good. The fried chicken was really good with a very flaky breading that was really good when mixed with the gravy. My favorite part of the dish was potatoes because they were perfectly cooked and seasoned with a lot of rosemary which made it amazing! This place has been here forever, like since the 80s, and it's tucked away off of Country Club and the US 60. You wouldn't expect much from an obscurely located restaurant, but Crackers and Co is a hidden gem! The cons: It is packed on the weekend and the place is in dire need of some interior updating (the tables are wobbly and seating is a bit claustrophobic). Did I mention it's been around for 30ish years? You sort of have second thoughts about your food choice, like is all this chaos worth it? The answer is yes. Heck yes. 5 stars just for the food! The food is amazing. The portion sizes are hearty. I love their scrambled eggs and bacon. And for the record, don't count calories when you're here because this is home style cooking, everything has flavor and you will leave stuffed and satisfied. We ordered take-out and unfortunately when I placed the order it wasn't taken correctly. My husband picked it up so it wasn't discovered until he got home.. I called and received an apology. We ordered biscuits and gravy with chicken fried steak. It was horrible. The biscuit was hard as a rock the steak was mediocre at best. The cinnamon rolls are humongous. Mine was fresh and delicious. My family has made Sunday brunch a regular event at Crackers. The food never disappoints. The two stars I gave was because of the service I received today. We were seated in the back of the restaurant which wasn't a problem. The waiter brought our drinks and took our orders. That was the last time we saw him. The food was brought by another server and then everyone disappeared. no one offered drink refills. No one wanted to know about desserts (which we always order the bread pudding). When we finally gave up and we're ready to leave I had to go to the hostess stand to pay. I asked to speak to a manager and by the time he came out our waiter came up and gave me the check. His attitude was probably the tipping point for me. Instead of apologizing for the bad service and offering an excuse he just laughed it off. The manager didn't do much better saying COVID was the cause. The restaurant wasn't that busy by then but i blame the manager for having the waiter spread all over the place. By then I was mad at everyone. I lost my temper and I apologize but having been in the service industry all my life nothing makes me more mad than poor service. They were having construction going on in the small parking lot. Some spots are reserved for other businesses. Luckily, we found a spot on the left hand side that's open to everyone. We had a 10-15 minute wait because no one wanted to eat outside in the cool 80+ weather around 9am. The waiter/server, Levi, was funny and almost served us the wrong order... but ours was the next in line. No big deal, but it was funny. We ordered four different breakfast plates, and they were delicious. The scrambled eggs were cooked nicely, the bacon was just right, and the French toast was soft in the center, but too hard on the crust. I almost couldn't cut it with the butter knife they gave us. This was absolutely the best meal we had while in the Phoenix area, and the most affordable too!
