I'd give this a zero if possible. We tried to eat lunch here. Evidently the severs are not allowed to seat people or help the one person doing take outs. There were lots of empty tables so that wasn't the problem. We left after 15 minutes of not being seated. I was skeptical because I love my food steaming hot and was scared it would come out luke warm. It came out hot and was so good!! Probably one of the best potato soups I've ever had! The staff here is a younger crowd. Our waitress was nice, but the staff as a whole just lacked enthusiasm. I could see the cook eating in the back while he cooked and could hear sly remarks the staff made to each back and forth as they walked around to their tables. We have been buying takeout lunch for our staff each Friday since the pandemic hit. During these trying times, it's challenging for scaled-back restaurants to fill large orders. We order for 8 to 10 people and try to place the orders the day before. Twice we've tried Cotton Patch in Grapevine and twice they've nailed it. Food was ready on time and after a 10 minute drive back to our office, the order was correct, the food was hot and very tasty! One-star reviews driven by Covid-caused challenges have no place on Yelp or anywhere else! These restaurants are hanging on by a thread in many cases and deserve a review with the circumstances fully considered. Love going to this location. The staff here are friend and attentive. You first get some rolls before your meal. They are just okay, nothing special. They have a Heart Healthy options here! I ordered the Grilled Tilapia which was a single filet of blackened tilapia on a bed of seasoned rice with 'skinny' steamed veggies. When my meal came out it looks so delicious. I took my first bite and it was just yum. After a few bites, it felt like my tilipia was a bit over seasoned as it was on the salty side. I think the next time I order the tilipia, I will ask them to go light on the season and ask for more zucchini instead of broccoli. My meal was really good though. The menu was well thought out with plenty of choices all types of eaters could enjoy. I went with my 89 year old grandmother who has issues eating. We went to Cotton Patch Cafe while visiting the area. The chicken fried steak, rolls, and macaroni and cheese were delicious, and we also enjoyed a slice of Dr. Pepper chocolate cake for dessert. Our waiter, Dylan, did a great job. He was very attentive and fulfilled requests quickly. Second time I order online to pick up at this location and my order has been canceled. I order ahead of time so I can pick up on my way home and they receive the order with enough time to contact me or let me know if they are not able to process the order. Both times I received a confirmation email saying my order had been received but when I show up to pick it up there's never a order that was placed. If you are heading into the Arlington/Fort Worth metroplex or heading out of the aforementioned towns to get into Grapevine, Cotton Patch Cafe would serve you as a good little exit to indulge in some "countrified cookin'" before you hit ridiculous traffic via 360. By that, I mean, just stop here if you are hungry. The chicken and dumplings are a little dumpling heavy, with a mere single chunk of dark meat shreds. On the whole, it was mostly just that gloopy broth, so reminiscent (and dare I say, nostalgic of childhood). Furthermore, I found the seasoning to be a smidgen on the side of boring. It certainly erred on mediocrity, in all forms of the word. But what else do you expect with a semi-chained sort of eatery. The cinnamon apples were sticky, a cloyingly sweet. Yes, I expect this from a little restaurant container of anything with fruit in the "sides" category. In the realm of mac and cheese, CPC's was gloopy. And underseasoned. Seems to be the trend across the board. The black eyed peas were... bland. Lastly, the squash casserole though flavorful and lightly sweet, offered a little too much pasty texture. CPC is every Americans dream answered for a family-friendly, no-frills, highly-efficient sort of dining establishment. I found it to have its "head in its ass" in terms of menu sporadicity, but I don't think that is even a word, so disregard this review. I just wanted to put in my two cents. read more
