Great place for cocktails and bites! Jess is the best bartender. Very friendly and prompt service. Highly recommend.

A sincere thank you to the staff of Corner, and in particular the Chef who accommodated my special diet needs. He/She cooked my food as required by the "State of Slim" diet that I am on - really not that easy to follow in a restaurant. Despite the strict orders (no butter, no bun, no bacon...) My burger was delish with just the right blend of seasonings. Also loved the perfect crispiness of the brussel sprouts. Had the Kale salad, minus the picked grapes - yum!!! Loved the ambiance and a terrific waitstaff - very attentive. Can't wait to go back and try the food without restricitions! read more

I often stay at the Austin JW and frequent the Corner restaurant and bar when I have down time. Highly recommend relaxing there for a drink, especially when Jess is working behind the bar. She is by far one of my favorite bartenders in Austin. read more

I work across the street from Corner. Great place for after work drinks. The atmosphere is lively, yet relaxed. They have great snacks and the service is exceptional. Jess was really quick and made a great Old Fashioned. I'd recommend coming here on the weekdays. read more

Great food and atmosphere. I went and sat at the bar and ordered the Shiseido peppers. So delish!! Jessica made sure I was comfortable and well taken care for! Will be going back! read more

Jess is the best. She made a dope bloody marry. Great human too. And she seems smart. I'll only come back if she's here!!

Jess (our bartender) was great. Good with IPA recommendations, made my friend a good Bloody Mary (they use Bloody Revolution which is better than Zing Zang). Got the brunch burger and not even a top 20 for burgers in Austin. Try something different. Apart from that, good place to spend a Saturday afternoon. read more

I had the pork belly muffuletta and it was delicious. Service was good and atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. Only thing I would fix is the booths...they are a little difficult to get in and out of and not sure what the reasoning is. read more

Convenient for breakfast because it's part of the JW Marriott. Food is ok, nothing great. If you are bringing kids don't waste your time. Go to the Starbucks on the second floor. My husband and I made the mistake of coming here thinking it'd be easiest since we were staying at the JW Marriott. Instead pancakes were dry (how is that possible) and kids wouldn't eat them. After spending nearly $70 for two adults, two kids and gratuity we ended up at Starbucks to get the kids bananas and muffins. Service was also lacking. My husband had to get up to request more coffee from the hostess stand. Not impressed at all. read more

There's nothing I hate more than bad service and this place takes the title. We waited over 30 minutes for someone to even look us in the eyes. Not only is this place frustrating, but they didn't even get our order right when the time came to pay attention to us. Highly recommend to NEVER attend this inside bar. read more

Burger had so much promise but I'm not a big fan of biting down into fat. Try grinding the meats a little better. I spit it out on three occasions and then gave up on the burger. read more

Grabbed a quick bite here before a show at ACL Live. Decided to sit outside in the bar area and got super fast service. There's a limited menu out there but we enjoyed the options just as well. Fun, casual ambience with TVs in case you want to check game scores. Looks like pups are allowed too which is a plus. We enjoyed the chicken sandwich which we ordered grilled. Chicken was juicy and the bread was amazing. Lots of avocado on there too. Good portion of fries came with it. We also had the short rib tacos which were so flavorful. Our waitress recommended topping queso on the tacos but we had them as is and they were perfect. Drink prices for beer were a bit steep but it is the JW Marriott so it wasn't a shock. Would definitely eat here again and maybe come for happy hour next time! read more

LOVED this place, had our first dinner meal here on our vacation. The triple dip AHHMAZING.. the snapper and baby back ribs were perfection and the pumpkin cake was very yummy (share its hugu and very sweet) the servers were all so nice and attentive. Good as it gets! Best queso dip I have ever tried!! read more

Can't recommend Corner, and especially server Brian, more highly. This was our first stop from the airport for our first trip to Austin. Brian welcomed us warmly and went above and beyond - he even spent a good amount of time mapping out the city and his favorite spots for us. Love the wide selection of beers. Zucchini bread and cheesy grits were our top dishes. Oh, and the half unsweetened, half sweetened iced tea was mighty fine! read more

This was a fabulous bar to hang out at in the late afternoon / early evening. We had the most amazing service from our waitress Logan! We tried the farro salad, shishito peppers, and chips w/with salsa; all were good but I loved the farro salad the most. The drinks were good as well. read more

Went here last night with friends on of which is visiting from Los Angeles. He wanted to eat some place with a real Austin Vibe! I think the restaurant definitely had a nice Austin vibe. The food was really good we all had the Corner Burger. The burger was actually awesome! The candied jalapeños gave it a very unique flavor. The service as very good a tad slow but our waiter was very attentive. The only reason for not giving them a 5 star review is because of price. It just seems a bit crazy to charge $17 for a burger & fries (even though it was amazing). I'll let you be the judge of that. Will most likely go back again with out of town guests. read more

Been here a couple times but i can't let this time slide, so here goes: First of all I was greeted with a grimace, service with a sneer they don't wanna be here. Second of all I was seated by the window when the draft was a serious inconvenience. There was lipstick on my glass and it wasn't mine, we put an order in and I can't believe the time. This is a shamble, your cook is a heathen. The carpet was ugly and your veg ain't in season. My friend said and I quote "I waited in line for 10 whole minutes, this is unacceptable they're pushing me to my limits.". All in all food and service were great. read more

After eating at Corner several times in the past three years of my experience working in downtown Austin, Corner has fallen from grace. In a big way. On a Friday night at 7pm--after making a reservation in advance--my parents, husband, sister, brother-in-law, and I were treated so poorly that we walked out without a glance backward or hope to revisit. I was severely affronted by the young, blond waiter in the bar area--who told me he would push together two tables of differing height when I complained about the emptiness of the dining area and the smallness of the booth in which they placed us (you know, after they attempted to seat 6 people in a 4-person-max booth)--and then further disrespected by a young, awkward 20-something-year-old hostess who couldn't make eye contact with me while proceeding to tell me that the other, wholly empty tables in the dining area around us were "reserved for other large parties." We left. Disappointed and angry. And were immediately seated at Bar Chi. In moments, we had appetizers and drinks in-hand courtesy of a competent, energetic waitress (who alter explained she was "new"--well, babe, you were amazing). Our experience this evening at Corner was extremely disappointing; my coworkers and friends will certainly hear this on Monday. read more

I visited the JW Marriott on 7/17/17 for a business meeting and dined in the hotel lobby bar area (food provided by Corner). The ambiance was lovely (got quite busy during happy hour), and the service was impeccable. We were there for 4-5 hours as we were having company meetings, and the service was always on point. Late that evening, I fell ill with what seemed to be food poisoning, but this is not a warning regarding their food! It was delicious, but maybe I had that 1 bad shrimp that got me, or maybe it was something else completely. When I called today to let them know (how could they double-check if they don't know??), everyone was incredibly accommodating. Omar reached out to me later in the day to provide a thorough check on my well-being and to file a detailed report on my experience. I completely understand that sometime sh*t happens, and their attentiveness and care was absolutely incredible. I will be back, and thank you all for your fabulous service! read more

After a crappy experience at Taverna *see review*, Corner was a wonderful find! Atmosphere, service (Lewis was amazing!), food....every part of our time here was superb. The zucchini corn bread was spectacular, the chips and dip trip hit the spot, the burgers gave us chills, and the crispy chicken sandwich was heavenly! Our bachelorette party of 7 was very impressed with this restaurant and we all highly recommend! read more

My boyfriend and I were in town for the night and after dinner we decided to go to corner for a couple drinks and dessert. We sat at the bar. We were greeted a few minutes after we sat down. We ordered a couple drinks. I ordered a jalapeño hibiscus drink that didn't have much flavor of either. The I asked about dessert and the bartender recommended the peach cobbler. It wasn't good. All it seemed to be was some warm peaches with oatmeal on the top. The peaches were not ripe or cooked as they were hard. The bartender never checked on us after the peach cobbler arrived. Just a disappointing end to an otherwise fun and tasty night. read more

Decided to eat here since it was in our hotel, looked very busy so I assumed it was a great place to eat. I was very wrong. We sat in the bar area, and waited 10 minutes for service, ended up getting our drink order from the bar. The bartender came over to get our food order, she was the only good part of our experience here. We ordered the trio, which was basically chips and salsa, guac and queso. I ordered the braised ribs, and my boyfriend got the brisket sandwich with au jus. After 20 minutes a manager came up and said we're out of braised ribs, would you like anything else? I was so hungry and tired of waiting I just ordered a burger, and requested no mayo. Our food arrived quickly after that, but my burger had mayo. I didn't complain at this point, just scraped it off. However my boyfriend's sandwich was so inedible, so over salted, he had to send it back. I have never seen him send food back in 6 years. So I knew it was bad. They were nice enough to comp our meal, which I didn't ask or expect. I would've gladly paid for the burger. They made him a turkey sandwich to go, we just wanted to head to our room at this point. I tipped the bartender well, it was not her fault the food was bad, and that they were sorely understaffed for a holiday weekend. If you are just having drinks, this place is fun, but I don't suggest eating here if you want a decent meal. read more

Great, casual atmosphere. Get the brisket sandwich or the sever layer salad. These were great! The beer selection is good too and relatively inexpensive. I was impressed with the patio and outdoor bar as well. read more

Be warned. The portion for the turkey club is huge and comes with a side of fries. I love the atmosphere of the place and the outdoor seating. They have comfortable chairs perfect for reclining and good conversations. The turkey club was toasted to perfection and was closer to slices of thanksgiving type turkey and less the deli meat turkey. A good hearty meal that really could have been split with my husband. read more

Corner Restaurant - Sign - Bars Near Me - Austin, Texas

Love the burgers and fish tacos. Great place to eat outside or sit at the bar in the middle of downtown.

we were visiting in Austin and stopped in to have a couple of drinks/ and some lunch. The girl behind the bar, Jessica, waited on us. She was so fast and extremely pleasant. The food came quickly and we had such a wonderful time. I would very much recommend this place. read more

Living across the street from this place makes for a great brunch location without a wait. With that said we feel very discriminated against. We went for a few pregame drinks last night (Saturday) while trying to order drinks we were told that we are messing with the waiters money by ordering from the bar. Even though we were sitting on the sofa for about fifteen minutes without service. The waiter switches tables before we could request that and had our normal service. Today we go to the same sofa to have our normal Sunday brunch. The sun had us baking so we moved from the sofas to the bar. The bar was very slow and we still could not get service. After about fifteen minutes of the same guy walking past us and not getting our drinks we realize it is the same guy from last night. He said another smart comment and we asked to speak to the manager. She came out and didn't seem to really care. She did move him to the inside bar and we thought that would be the end of it. We went to order food and our second round of drinks while we were told that the manager has cut us off from ordering.... so because we complained about a rude waiter our six person group was all cut off... after going home and thinking about it we decided to go back to ask the manager why that was the result. In our group we had a Peruvian, Mexican, black, and an Indian. So we honestly believe this was racially motivated since we had done nothing wrong. The assistant general manager came out and could only suggest that we came to him sooner.... the food is decent at best, the location is great, the female manager that helped us when we came back was professional and kind! We just think the bartender was out of line, the first manager should not have punished us for complaining, and the assistant general manager should have been much more helpful. Not telling us that we should have got him sooner. We literally walked the girls home and went back to him... I expect more from any place. Especially one connected to the JW Marriott. It was so bad that one of the guys in the group is considering talking with an attorney to discuss what options we would have. We were on our first drink and totally embarrassed for only asking to speak to a manager. I will add that on a different time I came here I ordered a chicken sandwich and it came out totally raw. I showed the bartender and she even laughed saying she would no want salmonela. Usually I do not complain or write reviews. This place just needs to know to change a few things. Lastly they did give the chicken sandwich that was not cooked for free. I cut mine in half and didn't eat any of it thankfully. Still $17 sandwich for free doesn't add up to a week of being sick had I ate any of it. All ended well that day. You might want to cut yours to be safe!!! read more

This was a last minute choice and a pleasant surprise. The starter of blackened ends were amazing. We had the turkey club, brisket sandwich au jus, and the short rib. All were fantastic, as well as the drinks. The service was great. read more

Ate here two nights in a row. The queso in the trio dip lacked flavor so we mixed the salsa into it. Problem solved. Guac was simple but on point. Chips were great. Brussel sprouts w pancetta were the most delicious brussel sprouts I have ever had. I had those both nights. The guava glazed ribs were fantastic. The corner salad was simple and the dressing really was spicy; I rarely believe anything is spicy. I also ordered this both nights. The kids pizza was really small but the next night we ordered the kids sphaghetti and that seemed to be a better size. Kids meals come w two sides anyway so it was easily worth the cost. read more

As expected, this is a swanky-looking upscale restaurant in the lobby of a fancy new hotel, befitting of the trendy area that the Second Street / Congress district is fast becoming. The food here is priced as such, and while it's pretty good, there are probably a number of places you can go around town that will give you a similar or better product for the same (or better) price. But then, you probably wouldn't be eating here if your priority is your budget. The appeal of this place is its best trait. It's situated in the JW Marriott, one of the gleaming new towers of downtown opulence. Corner restaurant has the elegant decor to match, making you feel like you've really moved up in the world, even if just for one meal. The wait staff has been very friendly, especially the servers, when I've been there. This would be a place to close your business deal, or take a date, or grab a relaxing drink after work if your office is nearby. The food is pretty good. Not the best, but depending what you order you might be in for a treat. First time, I had their slow roasted pork shoulder. The meat was tasty, and it's served with quince jam, which makes for an unusual contrasting flavor that works quite well. I also had their smoked gouda mac & cheese, which was super thick but absolutely delicious. I love gouda and it made for good leftovers. Last time I had one of their burgers. The condiments and the bun were great, but the patty itself lacked flavor and was undercooked for my liking. It would have been great without the meat, but then it wouldn't have been a meal. Their pancetta brussel sprouts were also good as a whole, but the brussel sprouts themselves were overseasoned and got lost in the citrus-y juices they were cooked in. Still healthier than fries, though - and the fries don't look up to par for a restaurant of this appearance. Perhaps the best menu item is their zucchini corn bread. It's delicious savory corn bread, rich and buttery with little chunks of zucchini and corn nuggets baked in. It's brought out in a big hot pan for you to cut up; try not to eat the whole thing before your entree arrives. Overall: a good restaurant that's not worth all the hype (or the price). But hey, it's all about location here. They'll do just fine. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by the food and service! It's not often that restaurants in hotels are good. Ordered the cornbread for appetizer - came out fresh and hot and great. It's huge. We split it between two people and had half a loaf left over. Ate it again for a snack and at dinner. Delish. We both ordered the short rib tacos. 3 very large short rib tacos with awesome sauce. They did not skimp on the meat. Very tummy. Ordered the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese - good but I probably wouldn't order again. Service was super attentive and fast at a 1pm lunch on a Friday. The reason for not 5 stars? Parking. Good luck. If you can find street parking, that's the cheapest. If you need to valet or self park, be prepared to spend at least $12 after validation. read more

Horrible service. Food was decent but over priced for what you get. Wouldn't recommend to anyone who was a friend.

My love for this place has little to do with the menu. (although I have never been disappointed) My husband and I come here for ONE reason only; Xavier, our batender. We have been clients of his for about a year now, and I have to say, he is consistantly wonderful. Not only is he attentive and knowledgeable, he is a professional and goes the extra mile "with pleasure." My husband drinks a cocktail called the New York Sour, a wonderful classic, yes; but also royal pain in the rear beverage that requires egg whites and what seems like 5 minutes of shaking. My cocktail is also a bit of a pain, but without fail, our bartender gets it right every time. Bottom line, Xavier is fantastic, the embodiment of what any hard working professional would appreciate after a long day. We definitely recommend stopping in to say hello. read more

Excellent lunch and dinner spot! Attending a conference in Austin and this place was convenient since it was attached to the conference hotel (JW Marriott). Ordered the barbacoa tacos which were delicious! Would have been great if they came with a side of something, but they were absolutely delicious. Got a mixed taco plate & corner margarita. Before I could order dinner, bartender required a credit card; not the normal dinner conversation on a quiet Sunday night. Margarita was supposed to have blood orange in it, turned out a little sour. Tacos were good but you do not get a straw with your drink, a water refill in your water, or anyone working the bar who cares if your dinner/experience is good. For the price, I expect better service at a JW Marriott. read more
