I. Am. Disgusted. I am literally appalled at the lack a service which I did not receive on my most recent visit to Connors this evening. I went in during normal business hours and expected to be served in a timely manner. However, I had to wait so long for a waiter that I ended up going to the bar to get my own water. After waiting an additional 20 minutes to be served my waitress came and took my order only then delay putting the order in which resulted in me not being able to get food. Somehow even though other people managed to come in, order, and receive their food after I arrived - my food could not be ordered because allegedly the fryer was broken and food could not be cooked. Additionally, my drinks were never prepared for myself or my party in spite of those beverages being ordered forty minutes prior to the notification that my order was not and could not be processed. I am honestly shocked by the abysmal level of "service" which I received. I can honestly say that, based on this experience, I can never return to this establishment, nor can I recommend it to my local friends, nor to the 3,000 other attendees at the conference which I'm attending. This place was amazing! The food and service was amazing. They had to delay one of the meals due to needing to make fresh hollendaise sauce. The delay was not long at all but they comped the dish and gave us a perfect off. The GM Amanda and even the chef Chris came out to apologize which was not even necessary. Stayed at the hotel for a couple of days due to an convention i was hosting. We sat at the bar and the night bartender was great and personable. He gave us a great description of the menu and the food. He also made a really good long island! The wings sauce reminded me of the Grippos barbecue chips seasoning (it was dry rub that was recommended by the bartender) . It was sweet but with a dash of a tangy spice. I enjoyed them with the aioli avocado ranch. The afternoon bartender was something different. I took some time away from the conference and sat at the bar. The bartender didnt even acknowledge me as he was super attentive to the older white guys at the bar who were ordering old fashions. Stopped in for dinner after getting out of a movie at the IMAX theater at the State museum and our group of 4 was seated immediately which was surprising. They were super busy (looked like a lot of people in the area for comic con at the convention center) and service was sadly very slow the entire night, but is understandable. It took about 20 min or so to get water and our order taken and my friends put it in an appetizer order that never came out. When our entrees were served we inquired and the server apologized that the kitchen lost the ticket, but removed it from the final bill which they appreciated. I ordered the vegetarian pasta which was pretty standard and the gooey butter cake dessert which was tasty but definitely on the sweeter side! As a vegetarian I did not think the menu offerings were too plentiful overall but I'd consider giving this place another try if I'm in this area of downtown again and looking for a bite after an event. read more

Wow this was a great after work spot. Conners is connected to M Marriot on Maryland. The restaurant is sharp, crisp and modern. I went with some coworkers for some after work drinks and food. The crab hush puppies were really good...however I wish it had more crab. The pulled pork nachos were ok. The pulled pork was a bit lacking but it came with a nice scoop of guacamole and sour cream. Visiting Indy and staying at the Westin Hotel and wanted a place within walking distance after a long day of flying. This place is literally around the corner to the hotel. Really nice atmosphere with a diverse menu plus bar area or outdoor seating. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits and my husband ordered the brisket tacos. We also checked-in and got a free appetizer! Nice! The shrimp and grits are a bit different than what I've had before else where. It was in a sauce but I enjoyed it. Good flavor and shrimp cooked well. The brisket tacos looked good as well and different way of having it. Service was great. Our waitress was very attentive but not overly. My husband had a peanut butter porter and enjoyed it. I will admit to being lured here by the check-in offer of free crab hushpuppies. After all the reviewers talking about how great they were, I had to give them a try. Here's the skinny: The place itself 5/5: Looks nice, open enough that it's not too loud even when it's full. Great location. Service 2/5: What severs we had were great, but too overwhelmed to be able to do their jobs properly. Lots of open tables, not enough staff to serve the customers. I should not be so worried about your waitstaff that it distracts from my meal. Crab Hushpuppies 2/5: At the price of free, I'm not upset I had them. At a price of more than $3, I would have been. Lots of filler, can't really taste the crab too much. Real salty. Not my jam. GF hated them. Smoked Brisket Hash 4/5: Actually tasty. Wish there was more of it, or that it had something to give it a little kick. As is, sweet and smokey. Best thing we had. Did not regret. The flavor was bland overall. Magi is typically a mild tasting fish so I had hoped there would be a compliment with a strong flavor but there was not one. I recommend that they and some type of sauce at the very least. The portion size was good. I thought the price was kind of high though for typical restaurants. It was just me but I had two appetizers l, one that I thought was going to be free because of the yelp app, grab hushpuppies, but I got charged for it. In town for business and had a last second dinner here... very happily surprised. Tried their famous local sun king beer soooooo crisp and delicious. Got the nachos for appi-- the best nachos I've ever very had, thin and crispy nachos with warm short rib. And not to mention a mountain chipotle quality sour cream (if you know you know). The burrata was so fresh, crispy and perfect sweet/salty ratio. Our server Audrey was very patient and helpful throughout the whole experience. The steak and frites were 5 star (for a party in your mouth replace the green beans for truffle fries). We finished off with the gooey warm butter cake (comes with vanilla scoop on top)... soooo savory and tastey a la mode moment. The whole experience was A MOVIE. I went here last Saturday before a concert with a group of friends. We were seated promptly and our server was very engaging and courteous. The venue is news and very chic. I don't know what I was expecting but for a restaurant in a hotel it exceeded expectations. I will give the positives first. The food was very good. We all shared appetizers and had the wings (smaller but excellent), sticky Brussel sprouts (simply killer) and the truffle chips (just ok). I had the fried chicken dinner and it literally was a full half chicken. Whoa....it's enough for two. I recommend you ask for an extra serving of the honey drizzle. The negatives started to show after we ordered out meal and the restaurant started to get busy. Our server who was excellent was the only sever covering over a dozen tables....the time to get drinks and water slowed down to a snail pace but our server was moving what appeared to be a mile a minute and not inefficiently. There were two managers in suits who did almost zero to help. It was embarrassing that the manager came over and picked up a single plate after our appetizers even though there were 7 people. The quality food and the personality of the server will have me coming back....but they need to figure out their staffing got weekend shifts. read more

Tried the BLT Deviled Eggs; pretty tasty, would have again. Cuban sandwich and chicken enchiladas as entrees, both good. Enchiladas didn't have any accoutrements, such as rice or beans. My friend would have preferred a little more on the plate. Overall a good, not great experience. We were looking for a place to eat before a show at White River and stopped here because the wait was short. We were seated in the time indicated. We ordered the chicken wing appetizer. The wings are "connected" so 6 wings are really 12 pieces. They were covered in a delicious sweet BBQ sauce. I ordered the cheesy chicken enchiladas. They are delicious! They come with sliced avocado and a green Chile sauce that was spicy but not too spicey. The tortillas were stuffed with chunks of chicken and creamy cheese. My wife ordered the Caesar salad and liked the creamy Caesar dressing. Our server was attentive and friendly. Conner's Kitchen + Bar was my Friday night dinner stop two weeks ago. It's only been open for about a month and is in a surprising location: the Downtown Indianapolis Marriott. The restaurant is part of the hotel's renovation project and strives to re-imagine what "hotel food" can taste like, which is a good thing because most of the hotel food in my life has been BAD! The restaurant serves three meals a day, all elevated takes on classic Midwestern comfort food. Let's talk about getting there first. Parking is a struggle for the uninitiated because the whole block is surrounded by parking garages. Go into the wrong one and you're stuck with a $35 parking fee that is not validated by the restaurant. We definitely learned this the hard way, so we're sticking to valet parking next time, which our host told us is complementary when dining at the restaurant. I'm a little nervous to take them up on it after our last parking debacle, but I do like valet parking... Connor's looks nice from the outside with patio seating and a modern fireplace. It looks nice from the inside too with leather seats, stylish art displays, and succulents at every table. I was a little disappointed with my greeting because I was never welcomed to the restaurant or asked if I had dined there before. Our server brought us water and then asked to take our order without ever introducing herself or telling us about any specials. Lame! I did ask her to please tell me more about the menu to help inform my decision-making process. My sister and I ended up splitting Lump Crab Hushpuppies ($11) and Truffle Chips ($8) for our appetizers, but it was a hard choice because options like cheesy monkey bread and cornbread muffins were also on the menu. For my entrée, I went with Baked Mac and Cheese with cavatappi noodles, thick-cut bacon, english peas, and a parmesan crust ($16). Sister ordered a 1/2 rack of Hickory Smoked Baby Back Ribs ($16). I was almost too full for dessert, but when I saw Peanut Butter Pretzel Pie ($8) was an option, I had to give it a try. See what I mean? Comfort food! So many good choices on the menu! Overall thoughts? The food was good, but not great. Everything went down smoothly, but nothing was particularly memorable or worth driving downtown for. I'm not going to argue if a friend wants to meet up there because there are many other dishes on the menu to try, but I'm also not going to rush back. I like that they take reservations and (maybe) have free valet parking. I also appreciated the modern vibe of the space, but the music was also a little loud and it was definitely not a place for an intimate conversation. In addition, I think service could improved to show more warmth and hospitality. Downtown Indy just has so many food options, so I think Connor's needs to continue being innovative and outgoing in order to rise about the fierce competition. read more

Conner's is conveniently located in the Marriott hotel downtown and is fairly new (taking over the space where another restaurant was located; the name escapes me). However, I was happy to try it out on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I was disappointed that I wouldn't be able to try the yummy looking macaroni pictured on their website (we ended up there during brunch, and dinner did not start until 4 pm). The ambience of the restaurant is very nice. Modern is the feel I got from it once I entered. Pretty fixtures, cozy lighting, and very clean. The restrooms also were nice sized, clean and well stocked (as I had to take my daughter in for a quick diaper change. Oh yes, it is kid friendly as well.) Our server, Aaricka, was amazing and such a friendly person. She recommended several items for us to start with, including the sticky brussel sprouts (made with apple bacon caramel, smoked almonds, and crushed red pepper) and the Blackberry Bees Knees (Aviation, Local Honey, Lemonade, Blackberries). Both were wonderful, and the flavors complimented each other. For my entree, I tried the fried chicken and waffles (served with hot honey butter, bourbon maple syrup, and pepper jack cheese on the chicken). I was pleased with the food for the most part, but the chicken lacked a bit of flavor. It was a simple boneless chicken breast with a slice of pepper jack melted on top. The honey butter definitely had a kick, and I didn't care too much for the bourbon syrup. It was a bit overpowering. However, none of that would deter me from visiting again. Great seating and perfect mood lighting make for a terrific ambiance. As part of the Marriott hotel I encourage you to also enjoy the cozy lounges and the Rye Bar before or after dinner. Intimate and luxurious. Weekend brunches can be busy but we'll worth the wait. When you taste the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes time will stand still. Cinnamon rolls are wonderful. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorite meal is the fried chicken. So moist and tender. The hot honey drizzle makes everything over the top. Mashed potatoes, gravy and cole slaw add to the experience. The brown butter Salmon and Mac and Cheese are also fantastic. Salads are large and very fresh. The decor was definitely more upscale, and I can understand that a hotel restaurant would be more expensive, but I did feel like there was a bit left to be desired. The fish tacos were relatively bland and I didn't find the elote corn to be very creamy or flavorful. The cubano was pretty good, but I'm not sure I can get behind the $18 price tag. Came here for a belated Valentine's day brunch with my wife and it did not disappoint. The brunch menu was fantastic. First when it comes to drinks you really can't go wrong but I was feeling a bloody mary so I got the Bacon Bloody. Bacon washed vodka with the bloody mary mix and thick cut bacon as a garnish along with rosemary? YES PLEASE! My wife got an Irish Breakfast cocktail. All booze with a coffee ice ball to dilute if you want it to sit longer? I will definitely take that! (Pro tip...ask for just a touch of hot coffee to help melt the ice ball and dilute the booze in the drink immediately.) As far as food you really can't make a bad decision. I got the smoked pork hash and it was amazing. Hash browns. Smoked pork. Topped with an egg and chives and my wife got the lemon butter pancakes. I was able to try the pancakes and they were light and fluffy and perfect. They had a glaze that wasn't too sweet and wasn't too tart. Just perfect in every way...think of it as the Mary Poppins of pancakes! We were fortunate enough to get the free lump crab hushpuppies (come through Yelp check in offers!!) and they were also delicious. I usually need a sauce for hushpuppies because they are very dry but these were moist and wonderful and I could eat them all the time if I didn't care about being 5000 pounds. 10/10 would come here again. Our server was mostly absent, never asked if our food was good or not (we needed A1 for the steak and other stuff) and when we sent a drink back she was NOT impressed (she didn't say a thing, just walked away and that was after waiting almost 15 minutes to see her). Food - i had a cubano sandwich with fries. kid had mac n cheese with fries. The server told us they use a queso cheese on the mac and it has a litte zip. I was vaguely concerned as my kid doesn't like spice, but it wasn't very spicy, she really enjoyed it. My cubano had a ton of flavor and was very good! The french fries have a bunch of salt and pepper on them.. if you don't like that, you may tell them so they don't put it on. I, however, love it and they were very good!!! - The kid likes honey mustard... they didn't have any. But she can make due with ketchup (homemade i believe) Service - cannot remember her name, but she was very nice and attentive. She came back and checked on us a handful of times, even checking to ensure the mac n cheese wasn't too spicy. She disappeared a bit towards the end of the meal. but nothing too horrible. Pricing - it's downtown and in a hotel. so it's a little expensive, but nothing out of ordinary. Overall - a very good experience.
