First, a shout out to our server Kenna who was super knowledgeable and answered all of our wine-related questions! Came here on a Tuesday night for half off wine bottles + happy hour (3pm-6pm T-F). It is a great space (with free parking adjacent to downtown). It is also just a block off the redline (so you can get home to SoBro or Fountain Square car-free!). Enjoyed the atmosphere and the wine selection. Ate way too much poutine (yum - crispy salty fries). Such a gem for the near northside! There is also a great outdoor space, so hopefully once this melty Indiana summer weather changes more people will be able to enjoy! read more

Who visits a restaurant specifically for the tinned fish? This person, right here. Although apparently, Gather 22 only has tinned fish listed on their dinner menu, and I visited during lunchtime. But the kind server asked the kitchen if they would oblige me, considering that I visited JUST for the tinned fish. And they did! What great service! So, my dream came true and I finally got my tinned fish from Gather 22. And what a dish! The tinned fish comes served on a wooden board with the sardines still in the can, plus grilled crostini, pickled red onions, mayo, butter and a grilled half of a lemon. They give you the components, and you gotta assemble your own little tasty bites. What I did was take a piece of crostini, spread some mayonnaise on the bread, then added sardines and pickled onion, then squeezed a little lemon over everything. It was a salty, savory, acidic, delectable little snack. It exceeded my expectations. Indeed, I visited this restaurant for the tinned fish. But since I was there, I thought I would also get a Caesar salad and some poutine. A Caesar and fries is a classic, but when you add gravy and mozzarella cheese balls? Delightful. The Caesar salad is exactly the way a Caesar should be made: with breadcrumbs instead of croutons. Real heads know that breadcrumbs are God tier, and beat hard nuggets of bread all day, every day. The Caesar salad comes with chunks of chicken by default, but you can ask for no chicken. The fries in the poutine were good -- some were crispy, and some were deliciously soggy from the gravy. (Soggy in the best way.) The gravy in this poutine is white gravy, and it comes with balls of mozzarella cheese, which are a nice Easter egg as you fork your way through the poutine. I don't usually order cocktails (I'm a wine lady), but one of the cocktails jumped out at me from the menu: the Jintoniku, which is made with Japanese gin, botanicals and tonic. I could tell that it would be simple, clean and nicely herbacious, and I was right! They serve it with peppercorns and a straw, and if you use the straw, you will end up sucking up hard peppercorns, which is kind of annoying. But as I'm typing this, I realize that maybe I should have just ditched the straw and sipped the drink from the glass. Wow! I'm kind of dumb sometimes. Anyway, the Jintoniku was amazing, and it's a great choice if you love gin like I do. Gather 22 has lots of interesting seating: bar seating, booth seating, table seating, and even a sauna bus to sit in if you're feeling like a schvitz. I believe you have to book that in advance, though. read more

A group of 6 of us decided to do dinner here. We had a reservation for 7:45. The food and atmosphere were alright, but the service was the worst I've ever experienced. We were seated right away, but our server didn't get to us until 15-20 minutes after. We ordered our entrees with our drinks and (I'm not exaggerating) it took two hours to get our food. Throughout those two hours our server maybe checked in with us twice, despite the restaurant being empty. The manager came by and apologized and offered us free gelato and discounted some apps. We declined. She said "not sure what's going on - something is off tonight". I had a similar experience in the past here and was hoping they worked through the kinks- apparently not. Definitely won't be going back or recommending to anyone read more

We had never been to Gather 22 and were very happy with our brunch visit. The space seems small but opens up to a nice area around the bar. The Cardamom and orange bun was a perfect starter. We also had the cornbread Benedict and the bacon fried rice. Huge portions. The eggs on the dish were quite overdone but the flavors were still good. The rice was fantastic. We also had some hash browns which look similar to a frozen product but clearly are not with a tasty sour cream and chive sauce. Our server was very nice and gave great recommendations. We had to wait some time for utensils and the salt, pepper and hot sauce didn't arrive until I was mostly done eating my dish. Those issues didn't ruin our visit. Gather 22 is such a cool place with a trendy vibe! The walls are covered with beautiful modern art. The outdoor patio space is awesome with blankets for the cold weather. The dining areas are interesting and private. Gentle rock plays overhead. We stopped for lunch. I felt like I was on vacation. Eva, our server, was friendly and checked on us several times. The food came out super quick. The menu is an interesting mix of handhelds, bowls and pizzas. My husband and I shared a Hey Zeus pizza (thin crust). The pepperoni and sausage toppings were very good. The banana peppers added an interesting tang. The crust was ultra thin - I would have preferred it to be a little more crispy, but it was good. There is limited private parking and nearby free street parking. Gather 22 is a perfect and relaxing venue for meeting people for drinks, food and conversation or a special day out with family. read more

Very cute atmosphere! When you first walk in there's a bar to the left and seats straight ahead. The host walked us back to the back patio area that was themed (there was another bar on our way to the back!) This place is bigger than you'd think! The theme was ski, sleigh themed like if you went to a ski resort. They had a sauna on a school bus in the back yard area outside the window view. Which was intriguing. I originally wanted to get food, but tbh the menu was a bit out of my element to understand at the time so I got a drink, Brooklyn baby! It was cute. The menu was themed and very well aligned with the decor. Our waiter was adorable and attentive. And told us they do more fun stuff with the space in the summer. Im always in the area as the restaurant is right next to the Bulldog Liquidators downtown but had never dined here. Came in with some friends. The ambiance is lovely and eclectic and the music is entertaining but not too loud to make conversation hard. Service was good overall. We ordered some starters - Korean sausage skewers and balsamic glazed brussel sprouts. Both were delicious and seasoned to perfection. For our main, my friends ordered a custom pizza and the seabass and I got the pork belly with creamy polenta and mole sauce. My friend also tried a cocktail that was recommended by our server. We were sat next to the bathrooms and it was not enjoyable as 1) there was a line of 6 people outside them at one point since there's only 2 single stall rooms 2) you could hear everything inside. To my detriment, I don't travel downtown as much as I used to. Back in the day, I would be so excited to travel into the city and experience all it has to offer. Alas, the doldrums of middle-age tend to get one stuck in the suburban rut. Don't get me wrong, the suburbs offer myriad restaurants and bars offering great food and drink. But when you are willing to travel inside the city, you may discover more than you bargain for. You may just discover something inside yourself, as well. (This is what happens when you write reviews at 3:30am!) Gather 22 is a hidden gem near the heart of Indy. I visited for a couple drinks and a small bite to eat. I think it was an early Sunday evening, and it was a perfect night to sit out on their back patio just before the sun started going down. The menu is interesting and varied, inspired by the world travels of the owners. I know this because our server told me, but also because a kind gentleman walking around asked me what I thought of my drink that was infused with chorizo oil (it was lovely, by the way, with just the right amount of spice). He then went on to tell me the story of his travels that inspired the drink. "Oh, this is one of the owners," I realized. Such a brief, yet wonderful, interaction. You can tell they take pride in their restaurant and its menu. The service was great, the food was amazing and the drinks hit just right. After paying, we visited the outdoor swings. It is a great space to sit outside and relax and breathe. I look forward to returning to Gather 22. From what I understood, they change their menu somewhat frequently (maybe quarterly?). Not so often that you can't go back and get a dish you may be craving, but also enough to keep a fresh menu based on new travels. Next time, I may even order the tinned fish. My friend and fellow Yelper pointed out that there is no picture of the fish on Yelp and that needs to be remedied soon. So, I need to beat her to the punch! lol She already has 22,000 photos and over a million views in the last 90 days (Yelp royalty!), so let me have this one! Naw, she can have it. Finally got to try this place out! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the host and seated pretty quickly since we had reservations. We ordered the pica pica chicken skewers (very good) and the brown butter potatoes with fried sage and Parmesan--both were delicious starters. For our mains, we went with two specialty pizzas. One was the Cheesus, made with white sauce, feta, ricotta, and hot honey. The other was the Big Ideas pie with fig jam, ricotta, bacon, and caramelized onions. Both pizzas were divine! My husband and I met up with my sister and BIL to celebrate my BIL's birthday. We each tried a different cocktail for our first round of drinks and they were all so good. My sister and I each felt like we could sip on ours all day. I had The Fitzgerald, my husband had the Bourbon Reign, BIL had the Oxnard Negroni, and my sister had the Dew Drop. For our second round of drinks (later on) the boys opted to have the same drinks and my sister and I each tried the Talihina Sky (so good, but I forgot to snap a photo of that one). For an appetizer, we all split the Korean sausage skewers and while they were tasty, they were served in an almost comical way that wasn't the most practical. They oil from the sausages kept dripping down onto the table before we dismantled everything and then it was difficult to remove/split the vegetables and olives. We all agreed that be gochujang mustard sauce was amazing/the favorite over the kimchi ranch. For mains, my sister had the smokey wedge salad, my BIL had the thin crust forager pizza, and my husband and I each ordered the rice bowl and paid the extra $ for steak. Everyone loved their meal, but my husband felt like the additional $8 was too much for what we got, so I think we would stick with the pica pica chicken it comes with if we ordered it again. We were so surprised with how spacious the restraint was, both inside and outside. This normally would have been fine, but I specifically asked to sit outside and said we'd wait--if sitting outside was not an option, we would not have waited here. The sandwich was $20 with no side and was okay, but also not worth it. It was basically French toast with a few thin slices of ham, turkey, and cheese, and they didn't add the powdered sugar. The flavors were well balanced, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the crust was perfectly crispy and delicious. I ordered one of their specialty coffees, and it did not disappoint. Every coffee and brunch cocktail we saw around us looked just as impressive...clearly a place that takes pride in both flavor and presentation. If you're looking for a brunch spot with good food, standout drinks, and a welcoming, upbeat atmosphere, we'd absolutely recommend giving Gather 22 a try. The second I walked in, I knew it was over for the other restaurants. The vibe? Immaculate. The cocktails? Defy gravity (literally on champagne towers). The menu? A creative masterpiece. Most importantly: the staff? Angels sent from heaven above. I would say never change but the best part about it is that the menu evolves and integrates new, inspired plates. I took my mother there for their high tea. So misleading!!! The photos looked amazing!! It was not representative of the real thing at all!! I am not a fan of high tea but it looked so inviting online. The deserts and tea sandwiches were not as depicted. The sweets consisted of 2 hard cold scones and a few other things not worth mentioning. The tea sandwiches were butter and onion, cucumber and smoked salmon. They forgot the smoked salmon. Your photos should be of your food!! I felt tricked and deceived. $55 a person was highway robbery!!! The idea was great, the venue ok but don't trick people in thinking it is something other than it is. The real winner was whoever created the photos because the photos drew me in but they were not photos of Gather 22's tea. I say that because as I was pulling in, I spotted an old apartment of mine just diagonal from the parking lot that used to stand with nothing close by. It's colorful inside and so much bigger than you'd think. Cocktails were tasty and the food was just the same. I had the rice bowl with steak. It was enough for a second meal. The staff were very welcoming and eager to help us make our dinner choices as first time diners. We had the tinned fish, Caesar salad, and margherita pizza and loved them all. The thin Byrne's crust is always one of our favorite pizzas. We also tried multiple different drinks from their menu and thought they were all perfectly crafted. They are changing their menu this week and we can't wait to return to see what is added. One added bonus is that there is a great protected bike path connecting the Gather 22 location to the monon (along 22nd street) so we can't wait to make this a regular "bike to dinner" spot! read more

Enjoyed our experience here at gather 22. Came in on a weekend night, and place wasn't too busy. We were seated quickly, and our waitress greeted us not too shortly after. The place was nice and updated on the inside and felt very clean. Not too loud, but more of an intimate atmosphere. I had a cocktail while here. Can't for the life of me remember what it's called, nor what was in it, but it was tasty. Strong, but not overpowering. Italian sandwich was great.
