My husband and I love Savannah and were in town celebrating our anniversary over the weekend. After dinner at The Pink House and a show, we walked around looking for a bar to end the night. We were happy to find this place; the decor was cool and the crowd was chill and more our speed than the wasted college/military kids at some of the other places we walked past. We sat down at the bar and immediately ordered cocktails. Half way through our first drink my husband asked for a drink menu (which is my opinion should have been either offered to us or within grabbing distance so we could peruse the appetizers and specialty drinks, but not a big deal). A second bartender handed us a food menu and walked away before my husband could say that he wanted the drink menu. When she walked by again he explained, and she snatched the menu out of his hand and returned with the drink menu without a word. The interaction was way more kurt and awkward than it needed to be. Everything about this chick gave off an "I would rather be anywhere but here at midnight on a Saturday" vibe. I get it, I've spent years working as a cocktail waitress, hostess, bartender, server, you name it, and I understand that sometimes customers can be annoying, but there's just no excuse for what happened next. My husband asked a question about the dark and stormy martini. He said, "I've had the dark and stormy with ginger beer before, but what is the martini like?" In the most condescending tone she pointed to the menu and said, "Honey, it says what's in the drink right here.". Oh, no you dit-EN. I don't care how many times you throw in the word honey to off-set your bitchiness, or how stupid you think a question is. You never, ever, ever, as a server, answer a person's question about a dish/drink with a snarky, "read the menu". My husband just looked at her in shock, and said, "yeah, I see that, but you understand what I'm asking." He was met with a blank stare, probably because she just didn't know what goes in a real dark and stormy well enough to intelligently answer his question, which she never did. We would have left but at that point it was too close to last call to find another place. When the first bartender returned I told him that his coworker was awful and asked that he wait on us for the remainder of the night. In addition to having a horrible attitude for no apparent reason, this chick had her hair in a messy banana clip up-do and looked generally a bit too sloppy for a weekend working in an upscale restaurant/bar. Yes, putting on makeup may be an inconvenience, but if you want to work at a place like this, mascara goes with the territory. I'm adding a star for the ambiance and the first bartender, who actually did know the drink menu and gave us good service. read more
