This restaurant is cool, with tire rims hanging on the ceiling, and good music playing. They bring you chips, with this lovely green sauce and some red sauce. The servers are always checking on you, and there's a lot to choose from the menu. I usually get the fajitas for one, the beef ones specifically. I like the way they are prepared, with some caramelized onions. However there's not a lot they give you to put in your fajitas if you want to make makeshift tacos with them. That's usually what I do. I wish there were more choices like pico de Gallo and some of those good beans. But they taste good with their nice flour tortillas. Another thing I like from here are the panchos. They're pretty much nachos, but that's the nickname they give for them. They're really cheesy, but the chicken they put in the nachos is really tender and tasty. I think I might have to try more options next time. I wish there would've been more to choose from in their entree and lunch specials. I do love to try all the Chuy's locations around town. We sat in the restaurant last week for the first time since the lockdown and it was fantastic!!! Everything was just perfect including the food and the service. Just ordered from Chuys, has my order delivered from Door Dash. Food was terrible! Ordered taco al carbon, two orders one beef and one chicken, hardly had any meat in the tacos. Went to eat dinner the other night and notice their tortillas are not the same as they used to and that is for both corn and flour. Now they are thicker and harder which you do notice when you try to cut the tortillas when eating their enchiladas. Now you need a knife where before you could just use the side of the fork to cut them. Also notice that the section where they had the people making tortillas by hand was closed off. So I asked our waitress and was told that now they do them with a machine and is why the tortillas are different now. Also the food took a little longer to come but the wait was worthwhile. The tortillas are nice, made right in the restaurant. The decor is also nice. I had a really negative experience last week at this particular location, though I have been a big fan of TexMex and all the Chuy's locations in Austin. Came to take my mother out for lunch. I ordered the vegetarian lunch combo special, she - the chicken combo special. We were both disappointed: I somehow got a random piece of steak fajita mixed in with my rice; my mom bit into her chicken taco and subsequently took several long strands of hair (which matched neither of our hair color). My mom was quite disgusted and our waiter was nowhere to be found for a good 6-10min. When we finally flagged someone down to complain about the hair clump, they offered to remake my mom's plate. While she waited, a well dressed African American man (perhaps the manager?) came to our table. Instead of apologizing, he said "I have no idea how the hair could have gotten on your plate, but it didn't come from my staff. Maybe it flew on." SERIOUSLY? Several strands of hairs don't just fly in and get cooked in with the taco meat! We looked around (there was an open view from our seats to the kitchen corner where tortillas were being pressed and plates made), we saw absolutely ZERO kitchen staff/cooks wearing hair-nets, some with their hair down. THAT'S how you get hair in customer food. The fact that the manager (?) and waiter gave us attitude after serving food with lots of hair in it is kind of vile. No apologies, no reduction in the bill - just attitude. Worst experience and food etiquette I've ever had at an otherwise great food chain. read more

Chuys is one of my favorite places....usually. Being new to the Katy area, this is my second time at this location. I vaguely remember my first experience but I recall there were no issues. Tonight's experience seemed off from the get-go. I was warmly greeted by a smiling lady. When I requested a table for two, she had problems reading the seating chart and had to go and visually check the rooms for an available table. Our waitress seemed out of sorts; my boyfriend ordered a sweet tea and after confirming it two or three times, she ended up bringing both sweet and unsweet. She asked again and he told her sweet tea. She handed him one of the cups and told him to taste it because she got them mixed up. After that, she literally HID the unsweetened tea behind a menu and left. WTF?! Service was slow and I noticed our waitress kept getting tied up at other tables, and at one point walked around looking for someone who spoke Spanish to help her at a table. Other waitresses covering other tables filled our water or brought more chips. My order was also wrong, but at that point, I was too hungry to ask for it to be corrected. She may have been new and overwhelmed. It took forever for her to make her way back over to ask if we wanted dessert/the check. Upon leaving, I decided to use the restroom. There were paper towels everywhere and the trash cans were full. The paper towel dispenser was empty. Looked like no one checked it for hours. This won't stop me from being a Chuys patron, but I was definitely disappointed this evening and if I have another service like this, I will choose another location. I've been a Chuy's long time customer and throughout the years I've seen them make some short cuts on certain items, thus the 4 star rating. Not too many cuts but just enough to notice. I love the beef fajita quesadillas because the tortilla has a slight crisp to it, yet it lacks the amount of meat as they used to have before. Pretty scarce. My husband's beef fajitas were pretty decent size for 1. The condiment bowl was huge! Don't bother ordering extra sour cream or guacamole if someone at your table is ordering fajitas. It's enough for a table of 4. Pass on the Baja fish tacos. It's like having a Gordon's fried fish wrapped in a flour tortilla. Of course the creamy jalapeno dip is always a fan fave. And I still love the Chuychanga, so crisp and yummy! As far as service - they get 5 stars easy. Our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful. Always came to check if we needed anything and always offered more than we needed. We went on a Thursday around 6pm and the wait wasn't too bad at all - they said 20-25 mins but it ended up being only 15. Pretty good for a slightly new restaurant in Katy. When anything new opens up in Katy - everyone flocks! I'm afraid of how Rudy's will be the first few months!! Great family atmosphere, priced right. We spent $23 for 2 people, not bad! Got all the way back to Cinco Ranch to discover I paid $26 for a beef burrito; I guess some other lucky bastard got my combination fajitas with the extra shrimp on the side! The woman answering the phone has a major attitude! Sends me to the voicemail of the manager. I call right back and tell the same lady that she sent me to voicemail. She then says well I will get up and walk back there and bring him to the phone. Really so you are going to do your job! Go figure! The manager Alex came to the phone his demeanor was very nonchalant about the burrito debacle. You see I had the same thing happen to me at Pappasitos, shit happens. But the manager at Pappasitos was magnanimous from the time he got on the phone with me until he hung up with me. Pappasitos replaced my order, and to my surprise I received a gift card in the mail a few days later too! But the Papa's brand is centered on customer service and satisfaction. Back to my messed up order. Had to wait 30 minutes for them to meander out to the truck with my replacement order! Something I have learned in the past few months...Katy restaurants have horrible service!!! It was pretty packed on a Thursday night so very noisy inside and hard to hear the person across from you. Our waitress was nice and all but never refilled the chips or offered refills on empty drinks. We had a party of nine and never asked for the check but she brought it and didn't ask if we wanted it split. So...we had to get it split and she told us it would take 15 minutes. I feel sorry for her other tables. She came back after 10 minutes and two checks were wrong so she had to go fix it again. Food is good and so is the creamy jalapeño but I won't be returning to this location. I feel sorry for Katy residents who have to put up with customer service issues. Let me start by saying I love Chuys. I have dined over 100 times across Texas. Always a good experience. Not so much at this location. Service very mediocre. Example "What can I get for you?", "I'll be right back", was the language used at every request, every course, at every table. Robotic order takers with no suggestive selling or interaction. Food was just plain not good! Fajitas tasted boiled not grilled. No marination flavor at all. Lacked seasoning. No Grill marks, Just blah. Hot tortillas??? Nope. Waiter apologized and said they close down the tortilla station around 8 so the tortilla person can clean up and go home. I wanted to like this restaurant, since it seems like lots of people talk about how much they love it. I tried, I really did. I went back a few times, even though I wasn't that impressed. The three times I tried it out, the restaurant was full and there was a wait... although if you are willing to sit outside or at the bar, you can sometimes get seated & served faster. Most of food was forgettable, except for the beans, which were room temperature two out of the three time I went. My daughter got some blue corn enchiladas that were just weird tasting; neither of us wanted to eat them. I ordered Fajita Enchiladas and I received 2 dry tortillas each containing 3 pieces of alleged fajita meat and 6 Oz of burnt rice and a small cup of tasteless beans , this meal looked like a Bad kids meal , there was a hint of enchilada sauce but not nearly enough . I told the waiter that this looked like a kids meal and he proceeded to argue the situation. He asked me if I wanted another meal I said no just the manager . What can I say! Chuy's you've won me over.. I remember having a bad experience years ago at the 290 location but This place is definitely miles better than the place by 290. I can thank my girlfriend for reintroducing Chuy's to me This is my girlfriend and I's go to spot for delicious tex-mex. Whenever she is in town we always try to go to Chuy's. Service can be a hit or miss at any Chuy's but we feel like this place has really good people working here. The thing that I love about Chuy's is how flexible their menu is and how you can basically substitute any items on the menu with other items. Their food is yummy, fresh, and served as you always expect. Their chips are thin and crispy The salsa is bar none better than any salsa I had from a Tex Mex Restaurant, I love how you can see all the ingredients in the salsa and you get a hint of spice from the jalapenos. So who can really give Chuy's a bad mark!!?? Its a great restaurant and a great place to come relax and have good food!!! Love the sauces and the drinks!! The only thing i can say is the seating is a bit different then the other one in town. We ordered a party pack of fajitas and a party pack of another item. We were highly satisfied with the order and the staff was kind.

The address for this location is incorrect, even on Chuy's website. So no check-in's or even correction so other's can check-in later. So after seeing mixed reviews of all the other Chuy's locations, we decided to give this one a try since it just opened. Restaurants are usually trying harder to impress when just opening. On first impact, I felt like I was in Chili's. That's not a compliment. The 80's music, the garish colors and decor. Chuy's wants to be the "fun" place as much as Chili's or TGIFridays. We were seated by an older lady I would assume was a manager. Upon being seated, she retracted the 2 extra paper napkins from the table. I thought that was kind of cheap. They are paper napkins after all. It's always good to have extra paper napkins. Especially when there is a sliver of chicken on the booth seat. I'd planned to use the extra to swat this onto the floor, but didn't have a chance. We ordered some queso since this can be a deciding factor for a tex-mex place with us. When the orange cheese mixture came out, we were once again reminded of Chili's. The taste was very similar, as if someone had mixed velveeta with chili powder and heated. I ordered the Chuy's Special and was a bit disappointed. It is supposed to be blue corn tortillas layered with shredded chicken and cheese. I never tasted the cheese (which made it very dry) and I found a bone inside. "Well, at least you know it's really chicken" said my husband. But, I'm once again glad I inspect food before attempting to eat it. My husband got the Elvis Memorial and said it was on par with some other mexican restaurants. We decided to try some dessert. I had the tres leches and my husband the sopapillas. The Tres Leches was pretty good, but the "whipped cream" around the outside had more of the consistency of cake icing. It was also enough for 3-4 people to share. There was no personal serving indicated. The sopapillas were similarly large and a bit thick. We might try this again to see if we just enjoy another dish better, but the poor queso is typically a no-go with us. Also, the fact that this place has been open less than a month and is already getting lazy with cleaning tables/booths is disappointing. read more

Chuy's is middle of the road tex-mex, generally speaking. If I could give just the chips and salsa a review, it would always be 5 stars. Because let's be honest. Chuy's has the best chips and the best salsa, hands down. Especially, as everyone knows, the creamy jalapeno salsa, which back in college we used to call "liquid crack." But that was at the Westheimer/Kirby location. This one is pretty much just a solid okay. Sometimes there's a giant line, sometimes not. Service is always just a smidge sketchy, but you do eventually get your order taken and your food does eventually come out to you (although I'm not sure why it takes 15 minutes to scoop queso into a bowl). The favorite is always a Chuychanga with queso. Other goodies are the stuffed poblanos which somehow manage to stay crunchy and for that I am duly impressed, and if you're feeling extremely piggy, the Elvis fried chicken (read: chicken breast battered with potato chips and fried) is always so damn tasty if not so damn bad for you. Just slather everything in the liquid crack and it'll all be alright. read more

This place has steadily become a go-to place for me in Katy. Most of their dishes are pretty big portions so make sure you come hungry! I order the nachos from the appetizers most of the time but I ask them to add fajita beef or fajita chicken. The chips they use are gigantic! Get you some beef nachos and a watermelon or strawberry margarita and you are good to go, especially during summer days after a long day at the office. I've mostly dined at the bar and the bartenders are very nice. The bar stools could be a bit better though; they're pretty old and creak a lot. Overall great place for Tex-Mex! read more
