With the number of sushi places opening in and around Katie and the west side of town, I found it almost impossible to think there could be a restaurant which would become in my estimate outstanding. If you look at my restaurant reviews buying far the most of them are sushi, restaurants. This is truly an experience to be had. Not only is the service superlative, and the ambience rather comfortable, there is apparently an upstairs as well with a balcony as I understand it, but this restaurant is truly outstanding. The quality and caught of fish is simply wonderful. I had my standard Uni and Uni with quail eggs, and I believe it to be California Uni, but in any case, it was absolutely wonderful. The service was outstanding. Although there was a primary server, no one is beyond taking an order for a drink or food, which makes the dining experience absolutely wonderful because rather than wait people pass by and actually solicit, but they do so in a very pleasant manner. I could speak further to each and every cut of fish that I had the Hamachi Kama etc however every dish was good or better than the last. I had a Japanese old-fashioned, which was wonderful and made with Toki whiskey. Perfectly made a wonderful experience as it is a full bar. This is not a place to be missed. read more

Probably the best sushi place in Houston Katy area. The fish always smells and taste fresh but not in that still frozen kind of way. You might have to wait a while to be honest and the food will come out staggered, but that's just because they're always so busy so you know the inventory has a great velocity on turnover. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I really like the Texadelphia role. And the spicy edamame. And kids have fun because they tend to get brought free ice cream at the end. Mafia Sushi is located in Katy China Town. It is a bit inconspicuous from the outside, a little unassuming. However, whenever you enter, you are met with a clean, well-kept restaurant with quick service and a huge menu. Parking is easy with plenty of spaces in shopping center. Upon sitting down, a server almost immediately took my drink order and then brought miso soup to the table. The menu was a bit overwhelming - THERE WERE SO MANY CHOICES! From sushi, to sashimi, to hand rolls, to warm entrees, Mafia Sushi has everything. I decided to order the cucumber salad for a starter. Side note: I always order cucumber salad when it is on the menu - this particular salad made it into my top 2 (the other is at Taizzi Sushi)! It was served with shredded imitation crab on top and pickled to perfection. 10 out of 10 would order again. My friend ordered the crab Rangoons which were fried a nice golden brown, crunch on the outside and creamy on the inside, served with sweet and sour sauce. I also ordered the Girl on the Beach sushi roll - Shrimp, avocado and shrimp salad topped with fresh tuna, masago, sesame sauce, chili oil & eel sauce. Fresh and super tasty! We love this gem! It's been a while since we have been here but had to stop in for Father's Day lunch today! We were promptly greeted and seated immediately. Their menu seems to have gotten an upgrade with now more selections! Their menu was great before and now even better. They provide complimentary miso soup once you are seated. We had the salmon teriyaki plate, baked salmon roll, red crunchy roll, texadelphia roll, and a New York New York roll with two sides of fried rice. Everything was SO GOOD!! Love this restaurant and they grew popular so quickly winning the second place for best Asian cuisine in Katy 2025! We love the fresh rolls, baked rolls, and entrees. They even offer a sushi boat that feeds 4-6 people and that's on my next list of items to try! We love whatever we order every time! The interior is so big and spacious. There's a connecting outdoor patio and they also have stairs that connect to a top second floor outdoor patio. I don't that is open because of this Texas heat but honestly I don't anyone is complaining. The interior is beautiful to enjoy for lunch, dinner, with family and friends or even date night. Recently visited Mafia! We were searching for a place in the Katy area that had Happy Hour and an outdoor patio and this was it. Although the patio seemed to not have been used in some time, the staff was very accommodating. We were the only group on the patio and were amazed at how attentive our service was. Went here as a spur of the moment decision and was surprisingly satisfied! Although the only thing we had was the sushi and sashimi assortment, our experience here earned the stars itself. All of the cuts of fish were decently sized, although my least favorite was the medium fatty tuna pieces since they had a more metallic iron-y taste in my opinion, which you would typically expect in leaner cuts of tuna, not ones that are "medium" fatty. The complimentary miso soup and kizami wasabi served on the side was a nice touch. Nevertheless, the service was outstanding and we were well taken care of. They gave us a wonderful semi-private spot close to the bar . We came in a couple of hours early to decorate the space. I visited during a weekend lunch and tried several menu items, including the chirashi, halibut sushi, yellowtail belly sushi, American Gangster roll, Avocado roll, and Super Vegas Nevada roll. As many other reviewers indicate, the meal starts out with a complimentary bowl of miso soup for the table. Then it took nearly 40 minutes for the rest of the food to come out. I have no idea what was going on as there were only four other tables of customers and plenty of employees in the front of the house. Our primary waitress seemed unsure of herself and maybe this was her first time being a waitress, who knows. After 30 mins of waiting and still no food yet, she comes to the table and asks if anything has come out? What? Can't you see the table and see that it's completely empty? Other waitresses, which had obviously worked there longer, even stopped by to assure me the food would be out soon. Maybe they saw steaming coming from my head or something!! Finally the food arrives in 2 waves and we dig in. As far as taste and freshness, they have that part down, they just need to work on the service part some. We liked all our food. The American Gangster which also happens to be one if their most popular rolls, is good but there are a ton of flavors going on and maybe even too many. Our Super Vegas roll was similar but had less flavors so it was almost better in a sense, and of course it was $2 less. Overall, it was a decent experience but it was pricy in the end. I can't comment on the service because we got our food Togo. However, we placed our order through yelp. For some reason they never got the order so we had to wait at the restaurant an additional 25 min for the food to be made. Not sure what happen there but no biggie. Rainbow roll was good and fresh. As well as the spicy (not spicy at all) salmon roll. The rice stayed together and didn't fall apart when dipping it in the soy sauce. Seaweed salad was served cold. It had a nice texture.
