This was the absolute worst dining experience I have ever had anywhere. The menu was completely misleading--prices and descriptions didn't match what arrived, leading to an overcharged bill that felt like outright deception. When we calmly addressed the discrepancies, the waitress became incredibly hostile and aggressive. I came here awhile ago with my friends and their kids and my kid. I completely forgot to take a review then but from what I remember, the service was immaculate. The server ladies (multiple of them) were very diligent with our ordering, to refilling our waters and also was just a delight. My kid was not feeling well and he made a mess everywhere. The description said spicy sauce but it's not really spicy. My 8 year old daughter gobbled it up. I deducted 1 star because the calamari was slightly over cooked and chewy. I actually hate to be writing this review right now but, Fuji Sushi was not all what my best friend were expecting it to be. After an evening out shopping at Katy Mills, we were in search of some nearby sushi because it was what we were both coincidentally craving and we came across this establishment in our Yelp results. Amidst all the good reviews and photos, we thought there could be no faults at all so took our shot with it. We're always down to try new places because who likes to be predictable and dine at the same places all the time? Anyway, it was a short drive over from the mall and when we arrived we stood by the door for about two to three minutes before the (presumably the owner or main staff member) sat us down. She seemed to be visibly exhausted as she placed our menus on the table and left to go tend to another existing table. That's when I realized, she was the ONLY one waiting tables. That should have been red flag number 1. It was happy hour when we arrived, so my friend and I decided on two rolls each and to share an appetizer of the crab cream puffs. Four rolls and one appetizer took nearly about an hour to come out; I almost ran out of things to talk about with my friend. I turned around to notice that there was also only ONE sushi chef making the rolls. There were literally two staff members. The sushi chef, and the (owner?) lady running all the tables. When our food did finally arrive, I thought the crab puffs were just alright. The cream cheese filling was a little overly tart in my opinion and no crab flavoring or filling was really prominent. The sushi on the other hand, was also very average. I had gotten a basic california roll and spicy salmon roll and both were just subpar. I have unfortunately even had better grocery store sushi. To make matters worse, attempting to get the check was a disaster. Our (very sweet mind you,) server/owner was being overwhelmed with the amount of delivery drivers coming to pick up orders to deliver and a lot of voices were being raised over the speed of service. Plenty of guests inside, including our party of two, had to wait for some time before we could even check out. It was honestly just a nightmare for the two employees, which in turn was very unsettling for us guests to witness. If evening service is that busy, why wouldn't you bring on more staff? Lastly, the final touch of salt to the wound was that BOTH my best friend and I became sick from the sushi. Now is that a coincidence? I think not. From the perspective of someone who works in the food business, it's plausible to see how a lot of the fish could reach TCS violations when there is no one monitoring it since there is quite literally only ONE sushi chef. A lot of bacteria, contaminants, etc, can easily multiply across foods if they aren't being maintained at proper temperatures. Luckily, it wasn't to the point of vomiting but I can tell you guys we both had several rounds on the toilet. Do what you will with that information! Sorry for the TMI. First and last visit here. Friendly service, but sorry, the wait time and quality assurance of food are not redeeming factors here. read more

The server that I had was so kind and made it so that it felt like talking to a friend and was so helpful which was nice because it was my first time here. The miso soup was so good but a bit salty, but I think that made it even better with the other flavors inside. When the food came the fried calamari was crunchy, flavorful, and overall delicious. This place was amazing! We ordered the baked scallops appetizer, which came out on beautifully on a plate of salt and sake which was set aflame. It was hot and delicious! For the remainder of the meal, we ordered a spicy rock shrimp roll (which was loaded with fresh veggies that were superbly crisp), and a pokemon roll which was topped with fresh crab meat and tempura. Both rolls were very tasty! The decor was minimal and classy, with nice lighting. The portions were bigger than expected - which is a plus! The service was phenomenal. We told our waitress how good everything was, and she gave us a discount, coupons for next time, and free dessert! All in all, definitely worth it! This is my families favorite Sushi restaurant! We've been coming here for almost 5 years and we are always greeting with huge smiles and a warm welcome. My 10 year old son is probably their best customer (he brings his Grandma's , Aunts, Step-Mom and whoever else he can manage as much as possible ) The owners are a Husband (Sushi Chef) and Wife (Server) team who work together to make sure every customer is happy and taken care of. The food here is great. Had the miso soup and salad as a starter. Both are packed with flavor. We had Sapporo and some warm Sake. Both were enjoyable . The sake did kick my but a little as it was a round 11am when we arrived and didn't leave til 1pm. We also ordered a bunch of rolls, beef uson, edamame, yellow tail collar, tuna tartare, gyoza, and scallop sashimi. All were very good! The ratio of rice to meat was right on. The edamame was spicy but not overwhelming. I would definitely try the scallops, nice and sweet with slices of lemon and cucumber.
