Great place to get Ramen in Katy! The place is small and was surprised how crowded it was. The menu is build your own. My came out to be 20 after tax. I got the tonkatsu, thin noodles, and all their recommendations plus bamboo shoots. Good amount of food. They did forget my pork chasu after I realized halfway through eating it wasn't there. I recommend and would come back! read more

The interior is immersive in regards to its decoration, it feels welcoming and warm as the staff are very accommodating during your visit. As a ramen lover I didn't find the broth to have enough flavor or depth, and the texture was extremely thin. Most everything we tried was mid (except the pork belly which was inedible). The noodles weren't spectacular but were probably the best thing we had. read more

I really liked the concept of the build your own ramen! The tonkatsu broth was super creamy and good. I ordered it with the yellow thick noodles and bamboo shoots, green onion and mayu and I liked it though it was a little too salty for my taste. The inside of the store is super cute with booths lining one side and a large communal long table in the middle. The workers were also nice and fast. read more

While I like the concept of building your own bowl, I didn't really enjoy my meal; it was very underwhelming & pretty much substandard for me. Here's what I ordered. * Tonkotsu (Broth $6) * Chashu (Pork Belly $3) * Narutomaki (Fish Cake .25) * Kyabetsu (Cabbage $1) * Nori (Dried Seaweed .25) * Mayu (Garlic Oil .25) * Chili Paste .75 * Moyashi (Spicy Bean Sprout $1) * Ajitama (Seasoned Egg $1.25) (They didn't have any spinach today, BUMMER) The broth really lacked in flavor profile, it was pretty bland & boring. After adding some chili paste it tasted a little better. The pork belly was okay, it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. I didn't get the tenderness that I wanted, definitely didn't melt in my mouth. The egg was overcooked, I like mine a little runny. What I can say is they marinated the egg very well. The food did take a while to come out but the server did apologize. Overall, Good service but subpar food. Will I come back? Maybe. read more

This ramen destination became a household favourite many moons ago. One of the most fun things to do is mixing and matching different combinations of broths and ingredients. Another set of delightful culinary shenanigans can be enjoyed with the wide selection of appetisers. A few of my favourites are the cuttlefish tentacles and octopus skewers, although the ubiquitously enjoyed fried chicken is also on par with the latter. Ahnan, who has been our server during every gastronomic adventure, has always been triumphant despite undertaking the entire Front Of House (FOH) duties on her own. As a former FOH dude myself, I appreciate her professionalism and performance despite . Do not allow this jolly source of tasty tasty treats to go on without your visit too! I shall return posthaste and shan't fail to enjoy myself once more. read more

Ive had many Japanese ramen from many places. This is the first ramen I had that was so bad that I couldn't finish. It was way too bland. Basically hot salted water and noodle. Takoyaki was decent as this is made from frozen one. Atmosphere with Japanese anime was okay. They better make significant change in basic broth to make it any competitive. I would not come back to this one. read more

Came here after a couple of friends recommended this place. Neat concept to build your own ramen but overall experience fell a little short. We ordered ramen (tonkatsu broth and no broth option) and added pretty much all the recommended toppings. By the time all toppings are added, the bowls became $14-$16 each. - Ramen with tonkatsu broth: Noodles were good and nice texture. Broth was underwhelming. - Crispy garlic (thick) ramen: pretty tasty and well seasoned. It's a good alternative if you don't want broth. Downside - they do not have a liquor license so no beer, wine or sake. They will allow you to BYOB with a $10 corking fee which seems excessive. Restaurant is laid back with standard service. There are only a few private booths and one long community seating table. All the private booths were taken, so we sat at the long table which wasn't an issue since restaurant was not crowded. Restaurant can be good for a budget conscious person who doesn't like a lot of toppings in his/her ramen. I may come back if I amgoing with others who insist on coming here...and stick with the crispy garlic ramen (no broth). Otherwise, I would just skip and head to my favorite ramen place instead. read more

I came from Tiktok lol! I saw someone raving about this place on a Tiktok and decided to come! This restaurant is super cool and very one-off for the area. I liked the service and the atmosphere! They really were extremely nice here and answered all of our questions. I'm giving them a 3/5 because of a few reasons: 1- I loved their their Ramune Melon Float!!! It's a must have!!! 2- the Kaarage is freakin tasty!! I like the dipping sauce for the chicken! 3- the build your own ramen was good. It wasn't the best. This is why I knocked off 2 stars tbh. The brotha in both the Tonkotsu and the Miso were for lesser words "different" than I've had anywhere else. I liked them. But I did not love them. They DO have an after tastes that leaves you wondering what exactly is in the soup itself minus all of your own additions. I will however the back to give them a second round try in a month or so! And I do recommend you trying out this place! You won't break the bank and if you love it then that's awesome! read more

I'm a big fan of ramen, but I'm not an expert by any means. We stopped by on a Friday night late winter. Service was a little slow but I think they were short staffed. I visited with 3 people. Yakotaki was great. Cheese corn was okay. Ramen was not the best I've had. Build your ramen idea is cool. However when I go to restaurants, I enjoy ordering dishes that have already been put together. Luckily, they have recommended items with whatever broth a customer orders, so that's what I went with. I had the tonkotsu with the recommended toppings. I also added corn. For some reason, my ramen didn't seem to come together flavor wise. Something was missing but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. It didn't quite hit the umami flavor I expect. Maybe I went on an off day. I'm willing to try again. Decor and plates were cute. They played good music and it wasn't loud with the restaurant half full. read more

Well, folks, it's official. Jinya has ruined me of all other ramen. First off, heads up - they sell canned Coke products here, if you're wanting soda. We started out with a couple of skewers - a chicken and a pork belly. We liked the chicken much more. It was flavorful and tender. The pork belly meat was tough and flavorless but the outside was crispy and delicious. Hard to take off the skewer to share without it launching off the table, though! Their bowls and plates are very beautiful - I like them. I got the tonkatsu with chili paste, spinach, green onion, mushroom, garlic, spicy oil, and spicy bean sprouts. I wanted the ground pork, but they were out. I will forgive this because I know there's shortages of everything all over the place, nowadays. Our ramen came out pretty quickly. You order a broth, pick your noodle type, then each topping has a different cost. All told, it's VERY inexpensive compared to what I'm used to, which I like. The noodles are bouncy and have good texture. The broth is very creamy and the toppings are fresh. The overwhelming flavor and aromatic profile is sesame, which I really don't like. While I know what I was eating was good, I just didn't prefer it. Sorry! read more

The decoration, build-your-own concept, and appetizers were good. And that was really about it. First, the setting. All the tables were completely barren. Barren of dining tools and barren of spices/add-ins. It made the whole place look unprepared and unwelcoming, like it wasn't ready to open yet. Also every ramen place I've ever been to has the spices like chili powder on the table. You have to ask for it separately here and it's on the menu as an additional add-in you pay for. Second, the food. The ramen was just warm, noodles slightly over cooked, and soup flavor was lacking and unauthentic. Authentic Japanese ramen is very strongly flavored. This place was light, and even the miso was slightly sweet. So perhaps If you find often find ramen too salty, this place would be a good option. Finally, the concept. The build your own concept is fun and alluring to young customers. But in this case, it means the ramen by itself is sorely sorely lacking. Things that always come with ramen, like green onions, are an additional charge. Ppl don't like the concept of paying extra for small things like the former, and garlic, and oil. And on its own, the ramen is less appetizing than instant ramen. So if someone wants to save a few dollars by leaving out a few toppings, they'll be left with a dish that leaves little desire for a second trip. read more

3 Little Pigs Ramen you guys did not disappoint! Small ramen joint decorated like a Japanese village. I love the anime ramen bar wall on the left side. The lanterns, sheet metal roof, wooden booths and tables really made me feel like I was somewhere other than Katy, TX. This is a build your own ramen bowl concept. Every item has its price and you pick what you want. Surprisingly, it is reasonably priced. Not only for Katy standards, but for all of Houston. I got the tonkotsu with white noodle, 2 orders of Charsu (braised pork belly), ajima (seasoned egg), menma (seasoned bamboo), and chicken karage (Japanese chicken nuggets. The broth was spot on. Good Charsu portion. Can't go wrong with a seasoned soft boiled egg. Bamboo had the perfect crunch. The white noodle was cooked perfectly (I don't usually eat all the noodles). The Chicken Karage served with mayo was respectable. Great decor. Great prices. Great service. Great food. GREAT establishment! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. read more

KATY, TX / JAPANESE / 01-29-22 / TAKEOUT DINNER +The build your own ramen bowl (between 15-18 dollars depending on the toppings you choose) is a nice concept; it's like the Chipotle of ramen shops. +The tonkatsu pork broth (5.00) was pretty good, full of flavor and not too much salt, which I like. +The toppings were all fresh and I enjoyed it with my ramen, which included braised pork belly (3.25), bamboo shoots (1.50), bok choy (1.25), pickled ginger (0.25), and spicy bean sprout (1.00). +My 5-year-old enjoyed the Kushiyai Yakitori Chicken (5.00). +The takoyaki (5.50) was pretty good; light and fluffy. +The chili paste is fire (1.00). +The ramen bowls come packed with good portions, and my yellow thin noodles (1.50) were cooked well (overcooked or sticky/bunched noodles are a meal-breaker). +My 2-year-old devoured his own bowl of tonkatsu broth and yellow thick noodles (1.50) +My significant other foodie got two seasoned eggs (1.50 each) in her ramen along with ground pork (2.75), and white thin noodles (1.50). -The karage (6.00) was meh. There was not much seasoning to it, and it was basically just plain batter-fried dark meat chicken. -The yakitori chicken skewer left a lot to be desired. read more

One rainy evening my family were in the area looking for a bite to eat. We decided to give this ramen place a try because the kids felt like ramen. There was one gentleman serving about 3-4 tables. He was on point with all orders and checked up on us often. All of our food came out fairly quickly and my 3 kids and wife enjoyed everything. No complaints with food or service. We are more likely to come back when we have a craving for ramen. I didn't give it 5stars due to few add ons such as garlic, spice oils, green onions, seaweed etc. should be complimentary. I would think just proteins should be the extra charged add-ons. read more

FYI Pork bones have to be cooking for 10+ hours to get all that creamy bone marrow out. If your tonkasu isn't creamy and is it just salty it not right. So if you had Ramen Jin in the past when the Tonkasu broth was super creamy, this place won't measure up. The broth isn't creamy at all. It tastes like a pork broth and that's it. Service was fine. Food came out fast. It's quiet. Not a lot of people. Big wood bench in the middle. Won't be back. The search continues. read more

Standard ramen, nothing really outstanding. I had the Tonkotsu broth which I personally felt it was okay, my boyfriend had the miso which he didn't like, it was too sweet and tasted overall like sweet corn?, which he doesn't like. They need to be more clear about the noodles special if they are a build your own bowl, they have two options thick and thin, when they bowls arrived, i had thin noodles, when i order thick and then my boyfriend had thick noodles he ordered thin, when I asked about the confusion they explained that i had the thick wheat noodle and my boyfriend had the thin egg noodles. So they also have different types of noodles that isn't clarified in the menu. The drinks if you order a soft drink is comes in the form of a can. There a new ramen place opening in the next plaza so they probably need to make changes to improve or the new place to be terrible for them not to suffer. Lastly I want to talk about the price, is excellent for someone on a budget, we paid $33 for two bowl, two drinks and one appetizer. So yes a nice option if you want eat out and not break the bank Note: they need new menus, the menu are paper which they clearly reuse. read more

3 stars solely because the ramen broth needs a bit of work. For me, the broth is the most important ingredient when eating ramen but the broth here lacks richness and thickness. The tonkotsu base broth was creamy but bland. I tried my friend's shoyu broth and it was also underwhelming. However, the real star of the show was the small bites. We got the chicken skin, chicken gizzard skewers, and chicken heart skewers. Everything was soft, juicy, crunchy, and perfectly seasoned. I will come back just for the skewers. read more

Disclaimer: The restaurant is NOT located in Louisiana, but in Katy, Texas Decided to come check this place on a random whim and I loved it. The anime background was a major plus for me since I'm a major anime nerd. Had the tonkotsu black with extra chashu (thick pork slice) and menma (seasoned bamboo shoot) with the chicken karage and kushiyaki (skewer) kushikatsu (fried pork belly) as appetizers. -The tonkotsu was pretty decent and they were not shy about the portion of the chashu; most ramen places gives you a tiny portion of chashu. I like to have every bite with noodles and chashu! -The chicken karage was just okay. The kushikatsu pork belly was delicious and fun to eat. -I definitely recommend this place! read more

I wasn't fully impressed with this place. First, it's all a la cart. There is a base price for broth and noodles and every topping you add adds a few. My ramen came to $19 and I didn't have nearly as much as I would get somewhere else. Broth was an 8/10. Service was slow. The restaurant filled quickly after we arrived and staff wasn't prepared. I didn't know when I walked in that it had just recently opened and was being swamped because of a Tik Tok video. We had a short wait and then we slipped into a nicely situated booth in a small dining room. The menu is a bit small but they just opened so I am sure it will increase with time. We all had the same ramen with the menu recommendations. One thing that they definitely need is a drink machine. Appetizers- Takoyaki. 8/10 The octopus balls were really good, I could of ate them all night. Entrees - Tonkotsu. 6/10 Rich and milky pork broth with Chashu, ajitama, green onion, kikurage, narutomaki, and nori. Added an extra egg, The broth was good, just needed a bit more flavor. I've heard a bunch of good things about this place. Especially about the veggie option I believe. I liked how you can customize your own bowl. Price was reasonable. In comparison to all the ramen options we have in Houston it's a tough market. Tonkatsu 3/5 Flavor was on the sweeter-light side. It wasn't as rich and fatty as I liked but with the added black garlic oil and chili paste it was fairly decent. Wish it was more savory tho. Noodles were decent, couldn't really tell the difference btw thick and thin but they might have given both thin accidentally. Karaage 3/5 Maybe because I Togo it. It was on the soggy side. Sauce was pretty good and with a bite. Takoyaki 3/5 Just okay. Inside wasn't as soft but then again I fogo it so that could affect the quality. Flavor was so so. read more

I've been waiting for something new to open up in Katy Asia Town & finally this cute ramen shop opened! The interior was very cute with an anime-themed wall art. When I went, it was pretty busy from opening. Luckily, we were one of the first ones in line so we got seated immediately. The concept of this ramen shop was build-your-own-ramen, which I think was a great idea. I love the fact that I could create my own bowl of comfort. My husband and I both wanted something simple & somewhat clean, so we were glad that we could just get a bowl of soup & noodles with some veggies to accommodate. The broth was very light and flavorful. I enjoyed both the tonkatsu and the shoyu broth. The appetizers were great. My favorite was the fried pork belly! The chicken hearts were a hit or miss, my husband got some good tender pieces from the skewer while I had some tough ones. Not pictured in my review, but they had a ramune float WHICH WAS AMAZING! I had the melon flavor & it was delicious. Hoping to come back soon! read more

I've visited this location two times and have left satisfied each visit. I've tried both the tonkotsu and shoyu broth. I personally recommend the shoyu broth with chili paste added to give it a kick + extra flavor. They are generous with the portions compared to other ramen places. I like how you can choose which toppings you can add to your ramen bowl. However, the ordering process seems a little inefficient. I think it'd be better if customers were provided a small sheet with checkboxes to fill out for the toppings, broth, and noodles (similar to Hokkaido Sushi in Bellaire).
