Quite simply, I exhaled a sigh of exhilaration after my first taste of my Tonkatsu Ramen. I probably will go back next week for lunch, when I'm in the office again. Nice venue. Good options. They're keeping it simple and not trying to be all things to all people. I like an extra egg in my Ramen - and the eggs were cooked perfectly.

I've only had one thing here but that one thing was delicious. Small restaurant in quiet shopping center, not many patrons inside, I've gotten my order to go both times. The staff is sweet and easy to talk to. Both times my order to go was delicious, the broth was still hot after my 15 mins drive home. I really enjoy their garlicky tonkotsu broth. The ramen is perfect for a rainy day, to go order.

Came here for a quick lunch and enjoyed the no-frills approach. You order at the front cashier and then the food comes out (pretty fast, no issues for us there). The cashier was super friendly and welcoming! We ordered the edamame, seaweed salad, and tonkotsu ramens. Everything arrived piping hot, cooked to order. The ramen had a nice, deep flavor and was a perfect portion. Easy parking as it is located in a strip center.

the food is amazing, it really sets the environment well. i love the service, even though it's sometimes run by one person, i love the effort they put in this bussiness. i used to come in here as a kid and i loved the food and the ramen. it's amazing, 10/10

I like that this ramen restaurant allows the customer to place an order then sit at a table. It feels less formal than most ramen restaurants but tastes about the same. I wasn't happy that the tonkotsu doesn't come with many toppings- it does not include corn or bamboo. However the toppings were tasty. The broth and noodles, on the other hand, were lackluster. It wasn't a decent bowl for a quick bite but nothing about it blew me away.

Food was amazing. Service was definitely appreciated First time here and didn't know how to order I figured it out pretty quickly but the service worker was there along the way to provide a helping hand. I absolutely love the ambiance I have no idea why this place only has 3.5 stars. It's a 5 in my book! I'll definitely be coming back for lunch again and I highly recommend this spot! Great ramen

Ramen Jin is tucked inside a little shopping center with plenty of parking. The Houston weather turned drizzly, so I got a ramen craving and popped in on a whim. There seem to have been a good amount of diners judging by the number of uncleared bowls on the tables. This is an order-at-the-counter restaurant, so I'm, not sure how they didn't have the staff to clear away the dirty dishes. Especially since it really limited our seating options. Ordering at the counter was quick and easy. The cashier was able to tell me the toppings that come with the tonkotsu ramen (chasu, wood ear mushrooms, scallions, and a ramen egg). I would have loved more included toppings or at least listed prices on the additional topping options rather than "prices vary". I felt very full after finishing almost my entire bowl, so I definitely didn't *need* the extra toppings. I think my jaw dropped after my first sip of the tonkotsu broth - I'm amazed at how rich and flavorful it was. I almost exclusively order tonkotsu whenever I visit ramen restaurants, so I was happily surprised.

Fast service, nice employees, fairly simple menu. Broth of the tonkotsu ramen was great and the pork meat was very tender falling apart very easily. Good amount of ramen noodles and the egg was cooked with a nice soft yolk.

You have to use finesse and a delicate touch, you can just be ramen away all night and hope for results. Although that has its moments. I'm not a big fan of ramen in general and Houston doesn't really have a good versions of it except maybe Ramen Okidoki and Tamashi (now a chain). This one is not bad and I will give it a generous four for being a little more enjoyable than most, also a little more popular than most, although also a little overpriced - but it is also underrated by some.

Ramen Jin's tonkotsu ramen was still as good as I remembered it to be. We were on our way home and got tonkotsu ramen to go for dinner. The broth was separated from the noodles and toppings, as it should be. We brought it home and it was delicious. The broth was creamy and brimming with pork flavor. The chashu pieces were melt in your mouth good. The ajitama egg was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The noodles and veggies had the right texture as well. The surprising thing is that Ramen Jin has kept their ramen prices reasonable compared to other ramen spots, without compromising portion sizes. So, I appreciated this. If you haven't tried their tonkotsu ramen, go try it out now. This ramen alone is worth it, IMO.

The font on the menus is squint inducing so do your research ahead of time or prepare to spend more time perusing the menu than usual, especially with the dim lighting. They offer thin or thick noodles and can mix some broth options to adjust spice level. Drinks- the smoked in front of your face whiskey is a treat and a show. Solid spot. No regrets. I had a great experience at ramen Tatsu-ya. It was my first time here & I was very impressed…read more I ordered the "mi-so-hot" & it was amazing. First - the ramen came out super fast. I was very surprised. And my broth was so delicious. It had such a rich umami flavor due to the miso & I thought the spice level was perfect. Honestly - I could eat jhst that broth for a whole meal. Unlike buldak or some other spicy ramens - the main selling point wasn't the spice. You could get an additional "spice bomb" if you wanted some more heat. The ramen toppings were good but not outstanding - same with the noodles. I thought the "mi-so-hot" was easily 3x better than "the og". The broth in "the og" was pretty interesting and more unique tasting. It felt like the main notes were just umami, pork, and oil. Not bad, but felt like it was missing a little something to make it truly good. If I had just got the OG, I'd rate this place a bit lower - but as it stands I'd 100% come back here for the "mi-so-hot" The interior was pretty nice. It was more "communal style seating" with a couple of big tables. There is also some smaller booths. It's an "order at the counter" type restaurant as well. I saw several comments about parking & was a bit concerned when driving over. I know that part of westheimer is always packed! But there is an attached parking lot & at 3pm on a Sunday, there was plenty of parking! Also - there is some street parking in the neighborhood north of the shop. Overall - will 100% be coming back for some more spicy ramen. Would recommend

Sushi Flight (6 Pieces, 4 Flavors) - Somehow 1,050 calories??? - Raw Salmon x2 - Strangely, I would have liked this colder. It was just okay. - Cooked Salmon x2 - I liked this a lot more than the raw salmon because it had a deeper flavor. - Scallops - Probably my favorite thing on this platter because of the smokiness they imbue with the torching. The sweet aftertaste was definitely worthwhile. - Shrimp - Not as fresh as I would have liked, as someone who's eaten a lot of shrimp, but I still liked the taste. Still, pretty mediocre. Tantan Tsukemen - Very interesting broth. Potent, salty, and full of bold flavor. My friend swapped the pork for chicken, and the chicken worked really well with the broth. They serve the chicken as a cold cut. This is a double-noodle dish with a soy milk-based dipping sauce. I normally would have ordered this because I LOVE tantan ramen, but I had to forgo it for the limited-time Creamy Truffle Ramen. Creamy Truffle Ramen - LOVED the broth. It was very light and creamy. I actually liked this a lot more than tonkotsu ramen. The truffle wasn't too overwhelming--just mild enough to hint at its flavor without becoming the only flavor profile you get. Truffle is like baking with rose water; finding that balance is quite hard. I will admit the whole table smelled like truffles, though. The torched king oyster mushroom paired wonderfully with the dish, and the broccolini was an equally interesting topping choice. I also found bits of melted Parmesan throughout the ramen, which the menu listed as an ingredient. The egg wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still a decent soy egg. As I kept eating, the truffle oil became more intense, and the fattiness started to get a bit overwhelming without washing it down with water. Great flavor overall, but I think this dish is best paired with an appetizer to help cut through the richness. One of my favorite things about this place, which my BF mentioned, was the noodle texture. I noticed it too as I ate--a good bite with a slick texture that was just starchy enough to cling to the broth. We had leftover noodles from the Tantan Tsukemen at the end of the meal and ended up using the Creamy Truffle broth as a dipping sauce. Honestly, no regrets. The cold noodles didn't work quite as well in this dish, but the broth was definitely a banger. This was also the first ramen broth I couldn't finish but desperately wanted to bring home. (Obviously, I did.) Their to-go containers are surprisingly sleek, too. It's a weird thing to compliment, but I almost wanted to keep the container as much as the broth. Special comment on the utensils here--the soup spoons are ridiculously cute! Would love to have a similar set at home. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was thoughtful. The music wasn't too loud, and it wasn't that crowded for a Saturday night. They do play a lot of popular Japanese songs, so if you're an international music enthusiast, you'll appreciate hearing "Mayonaka no Door" by Miki Matsubara.

One waitress served everyone in the restaurant while I was there. She was speedy in taking and delivering orders. She seemed very nice! Food: ordered Tonkotsu Gachi and my mom ordered the yuzu. Food arrived very quickly, though we ordered no appetizers. The tonkotsu broth was rich and velvety in texture, but more like a mild umami in flavor. The chashu pork was pale, but melt in your mouth buttery and bursting with savory pork goodness! The marinated egg wasn't brought up to temperature with the broth -- a little cooler than room temperature, with a medium oozy yolk. It felt like the marinade penetrated all through to the yolk -- it was great! I welcomed the novel choice to use red onion over the usual scallions. It was a nice touch of color and brought in that bright, juicy onion flavor that I crave. Noodles were perfect texture. Not too hard or mushy. This bowl feels made to focus on the broth and flavor and not so much an instagram post. Delicious!! My only complaint was a very very very slight bitterness in the background. I couldn't pin where it was coming from. Maybe that's a risk of simmering bones for so long. I'll keep this short because I couldn't just eat my moms bowl... The Yuzu shio broth was clearer, with bright, citrusy, and savory body. The bamboo shoots were golden (grilled?) with a little snap to it. Reminds me of a king oyster mushroom.
