Brussels Sprouts Tempura
Daisy A.

Consistently good ramen, even if not the most authentic place! I usually go with the spicy chicken ramen and always add a seasoned egg- which is always good! Recently, my bf and I tried the spicy tuna tacos, salmon poke tacos and Brussels sprouts tempura for apps. The spicy tuna ones were our faves . Service is reliable and quick, as always, making the experience smooth and enjoyable. The ambience is cozy, perfect for catching up with friends, a casual date, or even dining solo.

Spicy Chicken Ramen (with creamy vegan broth)

Consistently good ramen. I've been visiting Jinya for years and never had a bad meal. I always get the spicy chicken ramen and substitute the broth for the spicy creamy vegan broth (like this broth better) -- and it's always delicious. Staff are friendly. Great service. Very cute inside.

Spicy chicken ramen with a ginger beer

Jinya Ramen is to Japanese food what Chipotle is to Mexican food. It's not super authentic, it's very much a commercialized chain.... but it IS consistent. If you temper your expectations of eating super authentic Japanese style ramen, you can enjoy your meal here. I often go to the KFT or Feng Cha right next door so I stop in to Jinya beforehand. The food always tastes the same, I have never had a day where I got what I didn't expect. The staff are also always super friendly, authentic, and the food comes fast, so the service is A+++. That said, my main gripes are: 1. Portions are SMALL. I'm a very small-volume eater, which means I get full really fast on small portions, but after eating a bowl of ramen at Jinya, I still felt a little hungry. But the ramen was already $17!!! No way was I going to pay for more. 2. Spicy levels are almost nonexistent. There are three levels: mild, spicy, and hot. I can barely taste the spicy at spicy level, and "hot" would be what I would consider a "mild" at some other establishments. So if you're looking for genuinely spicy ramen, this is not the place. These gripes are not really anything that management can change, as they are a chain and have to adhere to portion sizing and recipes provided by corporate. You just need to be aware of what you're getting when you go to a Jinya.

Shrimp Wonton Ramen - oily mess.
Mercedes D.

The Shrimp Wonton Ramen shouldn't be served to humans. It's literally all oil and it tastes like really diluted shrimp crackers. Just an oily inedible mess. When I contacted the restaurant to see if I could exchange they said sorry all complaints go through DoorDash and wouldn't help me as per their policy. Won't be ordering ever again.

The spicy in spicy chicken ramen wasn't really there. Located with the parking garage, so huge plus. We got seated right away at the bar on a weekend. Ambiance is dark and ominous lol like I needed my flashlights to look at those tiny words on the menu. Maybe I'm getting old. I had lychee martini, and that was 4/5. I've had better and I have worse. It definitely wasn't fake lychee flavor so I appreciate that. Also had spicy chicken ramen. When it came out, I was like I really should've gotten extra noodles because this wasn't Texas size I was expecting. HOWEVER, to my surprise, the portion was filling. The bowl is deep.. noodles were cooked right, but it really didn't have the good spice to it. It felt little flat. It's a good place to try it out though.

Chicken wonton ramen

JINYA Ramen has the best ramen I have ever had! My husband and I both ordered the wonton chicken ramen! We added baby bok choy and seasoned egg. The broth was out of this world and had lots of noodles and veggies! We also ordered the crispy rice spicy tuna. Wow! It was amazing! The service was excellent as well. Great ambience!

Great food. Great service. I heard comments about it not being authentic and more like fast food. We did not feel that way. Everything was delicious and being able to customize your ramen was nice as well.

Tan Tan Men with extra wontons

If you're wanting consistency, this is your place. I never physically have eaten at Jinya so getting the full experience and aesthetics was great. It's beautifully designed and very modern. Gives a romantic upscale vibe even though I was there on a random afternoon wearing workout gear, single as hell. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful with the menu, special items and HH overview. I went with the Tan Tan Men and the chill sesame seeds or oil caught me off guard and tickled my throat pretty good. Yes to the spicy tuna tacos and skip the J. Girl. You are paying for the vibes as this is on the higher end for ramen, so that would be my only major gripe.

Absolutely amazing food, very high quality selections. Perfectly seasoned ramen with variety of add ins for customization. Highly recommend!

Jinya has always been one of my favorite places for ramen around town, and the Midtown location is my favorite out of all their locations around Houston area. I've been coming to this location for over 10 years, and the quality has always been super consistent and delicious. Being in Midtown, the restaurant definitely does get very packed, especially on the weekends, so it can get a bit difficult to find parking in the attached garage or the surrounding street parking if you go during busy hours. The tables/seats are a bit small and close together, so it does get pretty loud in the restaurant. The ambiance is dark and casual, and the servers are always friendly. For the foods, you really can't miss with whatever you order. There is a wide selection of ramen to choose from, and the broths are always super flavorful. You can customize the spice level, add additional toppings, and/or substitute the ramen noodle. My absolute favorite ramen are the Jinya Tonkotsu Black ramen and the Wonton Chicken Ramen. I also really love their rice bowls, especially the Pork Chashu bowl. I also really like their selections of appetizers, especially the Pork Gyoza and the Takoyaki.

The food was fantastic. It was my first time going to a Ramen restaurant and I loved it. We sat at the community table that created a fun atmosphere and everyone cheered for patrons as they came in. Our waiter, Romeo, was great!

Spicy Chicken Ramen, creamy vegan ramen
Roshini T.

The spicy chicken ramen at Jinya is a classic! What I love about Jinya is their standardization of food. You know what you're going to get every time and there are no surprises or changes in quality. The creamy vegan ramen is the same way, delicious every time. Service was great and the ambience was well suited. Always a fan of Jinya!

However, since crawfish season is one of my favorite times of the year, I had to come back to try their limited edition ramen. Just like my first visit, the staff were extremely friendly, the food came out incredibly quickly, and the overall experience felt comforting and welcoming. I ordered the seasonal bowl, The Crawmen, which came with crawfish tonkotsu broth, andouille sausage, bayou butter, corn, and peppers. While the bowl was clearly inspired by a crawfish boil, I felt like it could have leaned even further into those flavors with more crawfish and a stronger boil seasoning overall. The ramen was definitely delicious, but the broth did not quite have enough crawfish boil flavor to fully separate it from their standard tonkotsu ramen. At times, it mostly tasted like the original broth with andouille sausage added in. Even so, it was still an enjoyable bowl of ramen, though I would probably stick to one of their regular menu options over this seasonal special. My mom and I also shared the Karaage, which arrived very quickly while still being piping hot, crispy, and juicy inside. On the other hand, I would personally skip the Sakura Sweet Tea and Strawberry Yuzu Lemonade in the future since they mostly tasted like their regular counterparts without adding anything particularly unique. Overall, I still really enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and reliable quality of this place, especially the ramen and karaage. While the seasonal bowl did not fully live up to its concept for me, the experience itself was still enjoyable enough that I would gladly return again.

We arrived around 5:40pm on a Friday night and there was plenty of seating. However, by the time we finished around 6:30pm the restaurant was bustling. The waiter told us he expected a very busy evening. Chicken karaage arrived first and was done very nicely. The exterior was super crispy and the inside juicy and moist. Yum. I was seriously tempted to order another plate since it only came with 6-7 pieces. Next, all the ramens came out. I got the shoyu truffle which I enjoyed a lot. I liked that you can taste the truffle flavor without it being overpowering. Also liked that the broth itself wasn't as salty as some ramen places. Noodles were al dente and all the toppings were tasty! Loved that the char sui actually had a good amount of lean meat versus it being mostly fat. The char grilled bamboo shoots were a nice touch as well. I tried my son's tonkotsu shoyu and enjoyed it too. I think my least favorite was my husband's tonkotsu gachi ramen, but he enjoyed it. Overall had a very good experience and look forward to coming back!

I chose the tonkatsu ramen with the lunch special add on of pork and rice for 3.90. The ramen was a 7/10 for me. The egg, the pork and the broth lacked flavor. The flavor on the pork in the rice dish was better, but the rice was overcooked and mushy. I gave up on my bowl about halfway through and left unsatisfied. I don't think I'll be back.

The food was delicious, flavorful, and comforting, and the service was friendly throughout our meal. They deserve 4.5 stars because come on it's 24/7 ramen. Parking is cool but limited. First impression walking in was that it has this really unique and dope vibe. I love the set up and it was giving spacious. There were cassette tapes aligned on the wall in the booth we sat in, which I thought was very creative. There was Anime characters above the doors when you first walk in, with Anime playing on the TVs at the bar. Oh yeah, THERES A FULL BAR if you ready to get your drink on. Now, off rip the host was annoying. She was kinda rushy and caught an attitude when we asked for a booth. We can't even describe the vibe she gave off fr. It was just BLEH. Our table was clean which is very important to us and our waitress Yasmin was kind and patient with our questions, and dietary substitutions. We ordered the Super Saiyan Nachos as an appetizer for $16. Maaann, these were so delicious!!!!! We actually substituted the pork for shiitake mushrooms and when I tell y'all we were surprised at the portion We both looked at each other like "YAAASSSSSS" Next came our Ramen orders which didn't take long at all. Not that we were counting because we were INDULGED in those nachos LOL Babii rated her Oxtail Ramen a '7/10' for $25. She would've preferred to get shiitake mushrooms because she particularly didn't like the fact that the Oxtails were shredded and not on the bone (which is what we both expected when reading it). She also would've liked if they gave her a spice option since she likes spicy ramen. Unfortunately, we had to purchase a nasty 'Kappa' sauce which was not worth the $1.50. To her the portion size was A1, however we paid for the meat so it wasn't worth the $25. Now, the Vegetable Garden to me was a '8.5/10' it was good, had amazing portion size and they were not lacking in the texture department. I mean, the spinach noodles were delish, vegetable cooked very Al dente. I cannot complain on that part. To me it was missing a bit of flavor, maybe salt would've done the trick. Overall though, it did have the flavor of the mushrooms which wasn't bad. Most importantly though, I felt light after consuming my meal. Therefore, I have to give it all a high rating. GO TRY THIS PLACE OUT, ITS WORTH THE TRY
