This was one of the most disturbing experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Someone in our group left behind a Chanel bag containing a phone, keys, wallet, cash, and credit cards. The next morning, we called the restaurant and asked whether anything had been turned in. We were told that nothing had been found. Using Apple's Find My feature, we were able to determine that the belongings were still at the restaurant. We returned, and only then were the items produced. The explanation we received raised serious concerns and did not match what we had been told earlier. Instead of taking ownership of the situation, responsibility appeared to be shifted elsewhere. What made the experience even worse was the apparent effort to prevent us from speaking directly with a manager who was present. As customers, we expected transparency, accountability, and urgency when dealing with valuable personal property--not conflicting explanations and barriers to getting answers. A restaurant's reputation isn't just built on its food; it's built on trust. When guests entrust their belongings to a business, intentionally or accidentally, they deserve honesty and professionalism. Thankfully, the items were eventually recovered, but only after we located them ourselves. Had we not used Apple's tracking technology, I genuinely question whether they would have been returned. Management should conduct a thorough investigation into how this situation was handled and take responsibility for improving its procedures. Very strange encounter at this place yesternight! I was sitting at the bar, minding my business, some men behind me asked me to come join them. I did. Apparently, one of the guys became upset that I was on my phone. Unbeknownst to me, the man asked the waiter to have me removed from his table. Waiter/manager came over saying, they are asking you to leave, they're expecting two more people and was really rude about it. It was very strange bc I wasn't the one who asked to sit at their table. I was quiet, not causing any issues. The waiter seems to be a manager of some kind but he acted like a complete ass. For no reason. Even if you have another guest coming. Why does the manager need to come tell me you want me away from your table when you're the one who invited me over. Why would the manager even approach me when I had done nothing wrong?? For this restaurant to be so upscale... We visited Fuad's for my sister-in-law's birthday dinner. It was my first time, so I was looking forward to a nice night out. I ordered the salmon on a bed of spinach, hoping for a solid dish. Presentation-wise, it looked great, but the flavor didn't quite hit the mark. The salmon was a bit overcooked, and the potatoes felt underseasoned. The atmosphere was lively, and the service was decent, though it took a little while to get our food. All in all, it wasn't terrible, but it also didn't live up to the hype. Would I come back? Maybe, but I'd probably try something different on the menu next time. read more

This place was recommended by a local. It's in a strip mall type setting, soo worth it. They have a piano bar, music starts around 8:30pm. Chef created meals are created for you. First off, this place is kinda hidden, but it's right next to The Melting Pot. And the parking lot can kind of be sketch at night, so be careful. Two of my friends and I went for HRW on a Monday and when I tell you it was SO DARK inside...I was like ?? Then we got seated and though we already knew what we were going to get, the waiter told us that they didn't have any menus. I was confused because almost all restaurants I've ever been to have some type of a menu. Apparently they make whatever you want if you ask them, which I guess the "continental" part on the HRW website makes sense now. But they did have a HRW menu... The lobster bisque was good, but a little too buttery for me (that's the flavor I tasted at least), the Caesar salad was a bit on the salty side, the 8 oz steak was good but the side veggies weren't fully cooked, and then the bananas foster was good but more on the sweeter side for me. Overall, though $55 seemed like a great deal for what we got, I personally don't think the food was all that great. And then one thing that kinda irked me was when a bunch of people came in, went straight to the bar, and then proceeded to get LOUD, which I get that some restaurants can be like this, but if you're interior is quite dark...I didn't understand this. I love it! But it's not for everyone. This is a unique, dark old school restaurant with a wonder piano bar that hosts so many talented musicians and the people in the cloud may make an appearance at the piano or partake in a duet. They usually play until at least 12/1 when busy. In the beginning, there was no menu. You could basically say what you want to eat. Also no prices. I think that's changed. Food is good. I had some delicious fish with lump crab and a tasty baked potato that they did with jalapeño. The real fun is the tableside bananas foster. You could go there for drinks and dessert and impress a date. Clientele is old school too. Lots of older men, middle aged couples and occasional ladies night out types. There is people watching. It's a unique place with unique clientele who have made it into a Cheers type of scene where regulars seem to rule. We have been to Fuads 3 times now. This place has its own vibe. The chef comes out and talks to every table, he asks what you are in the mood for and BOOM! They don't have a menu, which catches people off guard. If you read the reviews they are either 5 star or 1 star. The 1 star folks can't handle not having a menu. The five star folks realize how charming Fuad's actually is as an experience. Tons of famous people roll through here because it's a Houston institution. They will cook whatever you want and the kitchen doesn't close until the last person leaves, just like the Ritz Carlton cooks whatever you want 24/7. This is the Ritz Carlton of old school Houston restaurants. Millennials would love this place for the charm. If you are so worried about knowing the prices before hand, just ask. They will cook anything you want, even if they have to send someone to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients. The owner Kamal is Iranian and he will even make you Iranian food if you want. Possibly the best restaurant in Houston. Fuad's is a gem, hidden by many accounts. No menu? No problem!! I've only been twice, but, aside from the "roadkill" appetizer, I've tried different things both times. Neither time was I sorry. Roadkill - quail and shrimp with a crab and mushroom stuffing. A chef specialty, I imagine they have it regularly. Last time our salad was just a light, tossed salad. This time we had the Caesar. The best Caesar salad I've ever had, prepared table side. Last time I had fresh fish, tonight I had pepper filet mignon with a cognac sauce. Mid-rare from end to end. Perfection. Dad had Veal Osso Bucco. No knife needed, except to push the tender bites onto the fork. So delicious. Family style veggies served to sop up the sauces. Then came dessert. I don't really recall last time. But tonight, bananas foster was on the table. Not my fave, and up against stiff competition for a Nola girl... but it could stand up against any Nola bananas foster and shine brightly. I love sitting in a restaurant where you're not rushed and you're allowed to enjoy your dinner/experience. That's definitely what you get at Fuad's. This place is HUGELY overprice... be sure not to leave your drink lying around because the waiters will take it and then charge you for another one. You want a double cheeseburger? Be prepared to pay $50 for it. They don't have a menu so they can jack up the pricea and charge you based on your net worth.. One time I paid $11 for hummus and the next time I went in there and ordered the same thing. It was $35. They also overcharged my credit card by another $40. not happy with the level of service there at all.. negative stars. I will never stop putting into that place again. Fuads is amazing it has a good experience,atmosphere and food. Whats cool about the restaurant it doesn't have a menu the chef comes to the table asks what you want and will make it. They have tableside dishes including a ceaser salad,a steak Diane,bananas foster,and cherries jubilee. Came here for HRW.. first time for me and my 2 other girl friends. The interior ambiance is dark and "romantic". Sat down and they explained that they don't have a menu, which is fine, so we ordered cocktails on the fly and he gave us printed out HRW menus on printer paper. It's the screenshot of what's online. All in all, food was bland and not flavorful. We added salt and pepper to everything. Lobster Bisque had good lobster chunks but it tasted and looked like mostly cream. Caesar salad was made table side and was good but didn't have any other texture items like shaved Parmesan or croutons. They put way too much dressing so all the greens were drenched and soggy. Chicken piccata was next and the pasta was not cooked fully. Needed another 2-3 minutes. Chicken was thin and flavor was good after I added salt and pepper. Girlfriends had the filet mignon and it was tiny filet and the veggies and potatoes that accompanied it was not fully cooked and needed a lot more flavor. For dessert, we each ordered one of the options. Banana foster was decent. Bread pudding needed more sauce and needed to be heated longer. You can tell it was frozen before hand. Food was Mid, Service was Mid... me and my friends went to this restaurant as it was recommended on the HOUSTON RESTAURANT WEEK list. the menu sounded amazing and too good to be true for to only be $55 a person, we were right. I know usually they use these prices to advertise their restaurant for foodie people like us to go check them out. 1st impressions of the restaurant when walking was how dark it was. It did say on the HOUSTON RESTAURANT WEEK website that it was a "romantic" setting but it was a little too dark for us - since it was just me and my 2 girl friends. 2nd thing it was 7PM on a Monday and the place was empty, little alarming but we sat down and still wanted to try the food. As we sat down we were immediately asked if they are here for the HRW and were given paper copies of the menu from the HRW website, they were just a screenshot of the online menu. All in all the food was very bland and not flavorful at all. As an appetizer I got the stuffed mushroom, however when I received the plate it was more like just stuffing with pieces of mushrooms. Caesar salad was made table side and was good but didn't have any other texture items like shaved Parmesan or croutons. I almost never give one stars. This is literally, not figuratively, one of the worst delivered meal experiences I've had ever. Worst $$$ or $$$$ restaurant ever, and I've had almost all of those in Houston. The onion soup wasn't onion soup, just onions and soggy bread as you can see in the photos they tried to pack it in a styrofoam non soup container. The veggies were not seasoned at all as you can see in the photos. Microwaved veggies is better than this. Lamb shank was edible. But the white rice it came with was way too mushy. Escargot was passable. I could have made better from the pre made oven ones. Considering the high price, I was expecting significantly better at the bare minimum and at least a piece of complimentary bread for the escargot. read more

My advice for everyone would be to stay far far away from Fuad's as they are a dishonest business. I came to Fuad's with several coworkers for some drinks and we sat the bar. I ended up paying the bill for everyone in my party, five people including myself. The pre-tip amount came out to $176.24. I added approximately a 15% tip to come out at an even $200. When I received my credit card bill I was shocked to see that I had been charged $300, an overcharge of $100. I've been overcharged a couple dollars here and there by various establishments in the past but never a significant amount like $100. I called Fuad's to try to resolve the issue and spoke to a man by the name of JR. He told me that since the transaction took place in September, the restaurant did not have the records of my transaction. Instead, the restaurant's accountant in austin has the records so he would reach out to his accountant and it might take several weeks to resolve the matter. When I asked why it would take that long I was told that getting in contact with the accountant could take some time and the accountant would have to send a copy of the receipt by mail. I asked why not use a fax or e-mail since that would be much faster, we are in the year 2015 and everything. Very shady but I was told they would take care of it as soon as possible. JR ended up calling me a few hours later and told me that I was lying. I asked him is there any way you think my "2" looks like a "3" which could be the source of confusion? Did you take the pre-tip amount and add it to the tip amount to come to your total? He did not seem to understand what I was saying. After arguing with him about it a couple minutes, he called me a crook and hung up. I have never experienced such a poor level of customer service from a restaurant. JR was rude, condescending, and incompetent. I have attached a picture of my receipt to show the amount of the transaction. At no point did he apologize for the situation, handle the matter with class, offer any sort of gift card or free meal...absolutely nothing. I hope others have not been screwed over by this establishment but I would not be surprised if I'm not the first. read more

10 out of 10 would not recommend. I friend of mine suggested we try this place out and I was excited because he said it's a Houston staple. When you walk in it's dark and musky, with outdated furniture. We sat at the bar and I witnessed the owner JR loudly verbally berate the bartender in front of guests. I stuck around because I heard the food was good. I ordered the lamb chops. They were okay, but very small..the vegetables that accompany it are boiled with zero seasoning. After the disappointing dinner I didn't bother with dessert but instead ordered a coffee. I watched as people got up to sing out of tune at the piano and when I turned back around I found a cockroach on the rim of my coffee mug. I don't know how this place is still open because people around me said this happens all the time. My bill came and it was over 300 hundred for the lamb and a couple drinks. If I could give Fuad's 10 Stars I would! I cannot believe in the 28 years my wife and I have been going to Fuad's, I have not written a review.... The story starts in 1992. I was taking this wonderful lady on a first date and wanted to make it something special! I do not remember if it was Texas Monthly or The Houston Chronicle that introduced me to Fuad's. It was amazing! The food is fabulous, the ambiance is very romantic and Joseph, JR, and the rest of their staff is absolutely amazing! We were engaged here in 1993 on Valentine's Day. Since then we go whenever we can (not often enough)! Absolutely without fail for our Anniversary!!!!! Someone posted of Facebook a question a few weeks ago; "Where is the first place you are going as soon as restrictions are lifted on COVID-19"? Without batting an eye I answered Fuad's!!!!! Last night we got to enjoy our 26th Wedding Anniversary with the wonderful folks at Fuad's! On the drive from Kingwood (Far NE Houston), I am thinking the whole time Caesar Salad, Joseph's Epic Rack of Lamb (my opinion.... Top 3 I have ever had! OK - One of those 3 is mine :-) ), and Cherries Jubilee. As usual we walked through the door and are greeted as part of the family and seated. Then ensued absolutely the best Sapphire Martini (Me) and Cosmopolitan (Sandie) in Houston and a wonderful conversation about how everyone's family was doing and anecdotes about the challenges of quarantine. So now it is time to order dinner (there are no menus)! That is a great thing, because Joseph is always preparing something special! Remember the "Rack of Lamb" idea? Well that went right out the window when Joseph said he had prepared a Veal Osso Buco! We started with the Caesar Salad, Veal Osso Buco (with a marvelous wine pairing from JR), the always awesome "Table Vegetables", and the Cherries Jubilee (their Bananas Foster is just as awesome)! We went to give this restaurant a try during restaurants week. We have never heard of it until we were looking for a new place to try since we ate at majority of the restaurants on HRW list already. The restaurant is small and very dark inside. They cramped as much tables as they can. Most of their customers are elders and we were not. We were greeted and seated at the end of the row of tables. Of all the tables, the tall gentleman seated us at a table that has no utensils or plates while other tables were emptied and placements were done. We were asked what we would like to drinks, water with lemon. That was the last we saw of him coming back or anyone else for at least 15mis. They have a bar and endless wines along their walls. When our waiter came by, he asked if we want a bottle of wine. Again, no. Another 15mins, the a gentleman in a chef outfit came by and took our order. This place has no menu and they can make whatever you want. In my opinion, I'm skeptical if they have the ingredients or techniques to cook anything I wanted. Plus they don't tell you the price until it's on the bill. Anyway, we opted for the HWR menu. Ordered wedge salads, escargot, crab bisque, duck, lamb shank, banana foster, and bread pudding. We were very disappointed with the dishes with the exception of the wedge salad ( if you can't get this salad right, it's don't deal). The crab bisque was tasty while the escargot we ordered seem to be cutter up pieces on a soupy plate. The duck was dried and tasted old on top of a cherry sauce. The duck tasted like it was old and they reheated it in the oven, similar what roasted turkey tasted like two days later after Thanksgiving when you repeat in the oven. The sauce didn't pair well with the duck either. As for the lamb shank, it was small, chewy, and still has a gamey taste to it. We didn't finish either of the main course and yet, the waiter didn't ask how was it seeing that almost the entire plates were still full. As for the desserts, banana foster present and serving is weird. In a glass with cutter up pieces of bananas on top of ice cream. Yes, they did their fancy flambé show but one show splits among 3 servings. As for bread pudding, it was a very small slice on a big plate. It wasn't moist and plain almost dry tasting. They have live piano player and old coupes we hugged and greeted warmly while the younger coup.es were seated and left alone. The place is to dark to even see your food let alone each other. The lamb shank entree was really good. The fillet had a burnt taste but it was okay. The downfall was the duck. The duck was horrible. My dad choked it down but I just couldn't. The duck was absolute mushy and dry at the same time. I had to send it back because it was also cold. The sauce on the duck was like cranberry sauce which isn't bad but it was all over and so one note. The desserts were good. The banana foster was awesome. The locals make you feel at home. Not pretentious at all, rather an at home romantic feel of chandeliers and mirrored walls, with sophistication, deserving of five stars. Have you aways dreamed of having a personal chef? But, can't afford one full time.. this is your place! D-bags need not bother themselves with such a nothing establishment.. This place is for the romantic and fun loving spirited people that are lucky enough to know someone who knows someone (that shared this secret hideaway). Always courteous and out to please. I noticed people posting their menu choices... personally I start off with some Brussel sprouts sautéed with bacon. Followed by a perfectly cooked filet seasoned to, the way I feel that night. A side of risotto and a yummy desert(tonight was bananas foster). All delish!... and served with a smile!! Also, I noticed people complaining about the price... please, it is no more than any other steak house in Houston. You get what you pay for. Fuads is worth its weight and then some. Do not eat here!!! They ran my card three times, told me it was declined and made us pay the bill with another credit card, Turns out it went thru and the money was withdrawn out of my account. I called this restaurant and they assured me it never went thru.. well it did. I had to open an investigation thru my bank And now have to go thru this nightmare of gathering my friends bank statements to prove I didn't willingly use my card. This is stealing!!! And not just a few dollars.. 163$ Not to mention the Food was just okay, For appetizer the chef sent out a dish with a combination of shrimp, quail and a crab and mushroom crab cake sort thing. I really only ate the shrimp. Lobster bisque was the only thing worth eating. I will never step foot into this place again. read more
