Beautiful decor and live jazz singer accompanied by a pianist. Really great if you're looking for a date night spot or a place to take pics! We ordered one drink and two mocktails. The lemon drop was super refreshing and smooth! For mocktails I preferred the strawberry nojito over the spiced pear but both were really yummy. The strawberry nojito had a nice mint flavor while the spiced pear was very tangy and fizzy. Would definitely come back again to try the actual restaurant menu! Celebrated our wedding anniversary here and had a wonderful time! The meal itself was absolutely delicious. To start, we ordered their bread service which comes with the fluffiest brioche bread, their sourdough featuring a 200-year old starter, and such luscious butter, as well as their steak tartare which I found to be just okay but maybe I'm not as much of a steak tartare person as I thought. For entrees, I got their pistachio crusted lamb chops which was probably the best lamb dish I've ever eaten, and my husband got their decadent duck confit risotto. In honor of our anniversary, they very kindly comped us a yummy bread pudding which is not overly moist like some others I've had if you're not a fan of that kind of texture. We could not resist ordering their tart au chocolat which was a piece of art both in appearance and culinary creation. I loved the play of texture and tastes and highly recommend finishing your meal this way! The service was impeccable with staff filling our waters diligently and checking in on us at various points. Our server was amazing - a delightful conversationalist and extremely helpful with navigating the food and menu. The interior is gorgeous with their chandeliers and wallpaper, and if you're lucky enough to sit in one of the booths, you're in for a real treat with the comfy velvet-y seating and cozy intimate vibes. Wow, great ambience and vibe, the live music is a nice touch albeit the artist on a Thursday is questionable. The food was definitely on par with what you would expect from the price point. When I tell you this was the best cheeseburger I've ever had... just wow. Had to get that praise out of the way first and foremost. Leo's vibes are nice! We were tucked a bit behind a wall so I couldn't hear the pianist very well, but I love anywhere that has live music. Our waiter was incredibly professional and friendly, checking on us the perfect amount. We started with the whipped feta ricotta which was deliciousss, the bread it comes with was mouthwatering. I had the aforementioned perfect cheeseburger and my friend had the scallops and veal milanese, both of which he enjoyed. Also ordered the Bread Winner cocktail - our waiter suggested it after getting my cocktail preferences and it was a good choice! My friend accidentally left his glasses and since we had made a reservation they had my phone number on file and promptly gave me a call after clearing our table! Dress code: business casual, jacket optional for men Food 5/5 : we ordered the oyster Rockefeller, veal Milanese, potato dauphinoise, Caesar salad and chocolate soufflé. Unfortunately ran out of the burger that I had been planning to try but tried to give alternatives. Value 3.5/5: fair value for what is being paid for. Kennedy the floor manager was welcoming and accommodating. I initially was sat at a small table and she asked if I would offer a bigger table. I appreciated this because I knew we were about to order a lot of food. lol Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The roasted chicken was incredibly juicy and perfectly seasoned, while the broccolini provided a fresh, smoky balance. The short rib over creamy potato purée was rich, tender, and comforting without feeling heavy. I do wish the pork chop had more of a flavor profile. It needed a sauce or more seasoning. The octopus was grilled to perfection and paired with delicious potato which elevated the dish. The crab cakes while small were delicious. The cocktail was refreshing, well-balanced, and the perfect accompaniment to the meal. To end the evening, we had some of the carrot cake which was my least favorite. I celebrated my Birthday with my partner at Leo's River Oaks and it was everything I dreamed of and more. At first, we thought sitting close to the pianist would be too loud, but it turned out to be the best seat in house. Intimate, romantic, and tucked from the guests. We were in our own bubble, encapsulated by melody and completely blocked out the background chatters. We began our evening with Leo's Dozen (14 oysters) and cocktails -- Orange Foam Old Fashion and Strawberry Fields with Yuzu were both superb. For mains, the Scallops in brown butter was unfortunately lackluster, and the least impressive dish of the night. NY Strip with house Chimichurri and crispy Dauphinoise was substantial. The flavors and textures complemented each other well. For desserts, cake of day was Pineapple Chantilly offered complimentary to guests celebrating special occasions. It was, without a doubt, the best cake I've ever eaten. I wish it were a permanent item on the menu because I'm already looking forward to my next visit, hoping to taste that delicious Pineapple Chantilly Cake again. read more

Leo's is a new fine dining spot tucked away in River Oaks, and it definitely brings an old school, upscale vibe to the area, fitting in nicely next to Perry's. We went on a Friday evening right at opening (5 PM), and although we originally planned to sit at the bar, we decided to grab a table since there were four of us. The dining area was beautiful and quite spacious. There's even an upstairs seating area which would make for a cute birthday dinner or date night. Right off the bat, the service stood out and became one of the highlights of the night. Our waiter, Rène, was attentive, warm, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He helped us navigate our options and made thoughtful recommendations throughout the evening. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, ranging from the crab cake, kale salad, octopus, oysters, Brussels sprouts, and lamb chops. The crab cake was delicious, with a nice sear and flavor, and the kale salad was refreshing. According to my friends, the oysters were fresh and clean, and the lamb chops were decent. Where things fell a bit flat were the octopus and Brussels sprouts. The octopus lacked flavor and didn't have the tender texture I was hoping for. The Brussels sprouts, unfortunately, was also underwhelming and unseasoned. Leo's did redeem themselves with the chocolate tres leche desert. We all split it and the richness was top tier. Despite a couple of misses with the food, the overall experience was enjoyable, and the ambiance felt special without being too stuffy. Leo's has a lot of potential, and I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu (and for Rene's great service). Just hoping they fine-tune a few things. Also, the parking is valet only and the spaces are quite tight so avoid coming on a crowded night. If you do, use a ride share service. read more

We had an overall good meal here but my entree was disappointing. We got the bread and butter, steak tartare, crab cake, wedge salad, grilled octopus as appetizers, and the dauphinoise, truffle risotto, and broccolini as sides. My favorites were the dauphinoise and truffle risotto. Everything else was good but not super memorable - the flavors were solid but just didn't really pop. For my entree, I got the NY strip. I asked for medium rare but it was cooked more to medium. Compared to a quality steakhouse, it was pretty subpar so if you want steak, do yourself a favor and go to a proper steakhouse. My friend's braised short rib was quite tasty though. For dessert, we got the soufflé which was one of the best things we ate all evening - especially the ginger ice cream it came with. Service was pretty good and the food came out timely so no complaints there. And the ambiance was old-timey classy, with a piano player that we enjoyed. The parking situation is not great - either luck out with street parking or pay for valet. I might come back but given how many other amazing restaurants there are in town, I probably wouldn't hurry back here. read more

Yelp says 3 stars is an OK experience, therefore Leo's is getting 3 stars for our visit on Christmas Eve. I'll preface this review with the note that we thought the only option we were going to have at the restaurant was the Prix Fixe menu advertised for Christmas Eve. Once we got to the restaurant, we found out we could order off of the full menu, and even get items off the Prix Fixe - Sounded like the best of both worlds. It didn't necessarily turn out that way. When my wife and I arrived for our 5:15 reservation, the place was already pretty happening. There was a singer and a piano player playing which could have been a good thing, but the volume was SO loud. We were lucky we weren't seated near the singer, but the volume still was unbearable at the midpoint of the restaurant. We let our server know, and I'm sure some other tables did also, and the volume of the music was turned down 10 minutes into our experience. The ambiance was much better at that point. I will say the restaurant is beautiful and likely will be a great addition to the fine dining scene in Houston. The waitstaff was friendly and very attentive at the beginning. As the meal went on, and the restaurant got busier, service was less attentive for sure. As mentioned before, we found out we could order off of the Prix Fixe menu or the full a la carte menu understanding that the items from the Prix Fixe would be at a la carte prices. So ... we went with first courses off of the regular menu, and ordered each of the entrees from the Prix Fixe - The Prime Rib and the Lobster Thermidor. The first courses - a Caesar Salad and a lobster bisque were outstanding. Things were really looking up!! This was also the time where the service slowed down. After finishing the early courses, there was a very long wait for the entree's. When they did come, we were disappointed for sure. Neither of the entrees came with the sides that were described with them on the Prix Fixe menu (perhaps our fault for assuming), and the serving size, especially for the lobster thermidor was very small. We ordered the Potato Pave at this point since we had no side dishes. Once it came out it turned out to be pretty bland, and undercooked. We did not finish much of the potato. And I had myself pumped up for a nice slab of prime rib. I did get some flavorful well cooked meat, but it was shaved already and felt closer to roast beef perhaps because of the presentation than Prime Rib. It was tasty, but not what I expected. That could be entirely my fault to have different expectations. The potatoes were the only dish not cooked well or flavorful. We shared the chocolate torte with salted caramel ice cream and it was good. All in all the meal was an OK experience. We will probably return on a regular night and sample more of the a la carte menu. Perhaps I will update the rating at that time. read more

Leo's River Oaks is such a bougie restaurant! My parents and I decided to come here for the first time to celebrate Mother's Day, and we were so happy with our choice. (It was thoughtful that we received a call day-of to confirm our reservation and were asked for dietary restrictions.) When you walk in, there's a bar to the left with a mix of cozy booths and high top seating. To the right is the dining room, which has both booths and standard seating available. There are two stories, and from what I could tell, the second floor seems to be more intimate, perfect for parties of two. The dim lighting, chandeliers, and candles created a lovely ambiance. Paired with the live pianist, it made for a great environment. There is also a patio area, which is used for happy hour. To start off, their Bread and Butter was absolutely PHENOMENAL. Hands down the best I've ever had. We also ordered the Gem Lettuce Caesar amongst the three of us. It was split into 4 portions, making it easier to share. The salad was okay; I just wish it had more dressing. For entrees, my parents ordered the 8 ounce Filet Mignon, which I tried and found delicious. I ordered the Roasted Half Chicken, which was so juicy. For sides, we ordered the Potato Dauphinoise, Portabella Mushrooms, and Butternut Squash. All were yummy, but the butternut squash was a tad bit too salty for my liking. We ended the night with their creme-brulee, which hit the sweet spot. The service was well-paced, and our server answered all our questions and gave us recommendations since it was our first time there. For parking, there's $10 valet and paid lot available. Overall, this is a very nice upscale and elegant spot for date night or for a special celebration. It's most definitely on the pricier side, but worth the splurge! read more

Such an exciting find! We started at Brasserie 19, which was disappointing with service. We decided to take the risk of trying Leo's without reservation and were so glad we did. The staff could not have been more gracious or welcoming. What stunning decor and ambience. It reminded me of a modern Regency in NYC. The dining room is very impressive. Reserve the gilded banquette if you can! Service was attentive and knowledgeable. There was always someone around. Love that they have a piano! Food favorites included the risotto - must try and I don't even usually love risotto. The bursts and beets appetizer was an excellent recommendation. Try some fun sides like the tasty cauliflower and portobello. I may skip the feta appetizer though. A great addition to the neighborhood and Houston dining scene! I had a great experience at Leo's. The best friend and I went for their Thanksgiving dinner special. I saw it advertised on Instagram and decided to give it try since a knew that I was not cooking this year or taking baking orders for cakes and pies. Upon pulling up, valet was ten dollars, and the ticket was sent to the phone number that you would provide the person at the stand. We had a short walk to the front door, said that name for the reservation and was seated immediately. Our server was great. She gave suggestions and descriptions that helped me decide on the turkey (dark meat), dressing and mashed potatoes with roll. For dessert they served pumpkin pie. Everything was great. Only suggestion was to cut the meat off of the turkey leg, I found it difficult to fight with the turkey leg without having the grab it with my hand caveman style. The lighting was low, but not too low and the piano player was excellent. As I was seated and needed to use the restroom, I began to look around, by the time I turned my head back around a manager was standing on side of me to ask if I was looking for something. He scared me at first but the attention to the little detail of me looking around being noticed was amazing and made this experience. I will definitely be back to try the full menu. read more

Just ate here for the first time and here is my impression... Very well decorated and elegant; friendly staff but the place was practically empty for the two hours we were there. The food was very good but not excellent. The wait staff does not meet the level the level of pricing. This is a common problem with high end restaurants these days. They have to pick from the same pool of waiters as every other restaurant in town, whether it is House of Pies or Tonys. No one really wants to do that sort of work long-term unless it's a mom-and-pop place who pays well and respects the help. best thing going for this place is how well the tables are spaced out and the entertainment, which was excellent! read more

Checked out Leo's River Oaks, which is considered fine dining and located near the old Blue Door spot--definitely a blast from the past if you remember that era. The music was surprisingly great and really helped set the tone for the evening. Our server, Richard, was awesome--super attentive and friendly, which we appreciated. We started with the bread, which unfortunately wasn't good at all. The deviled eggs with caviar (aka the "Jesus eggs" in my book) were definitely a highlight--really tasty. I ordered the filet mignon, and honestly, it lacked flavor. My bestie went with the NY Strip and enjoyed hers more. For sides, we tried the Potato Dauphinoise and the Portabella Mushrooms--both were pretty average. The overall vibe was a little stuffy, and the crowd skewed older--not quite the energy we were hoping for. In the end, it was a mixed experience. We went to Leo's on Christmas. There was live music, the ambiance was great, and the food was absolutely amazing. We had the sea bass (called the best sea bass she had ever had), the cheeseburger (for a 15 year old who eats burgers every day and said it's his second favorite burger ever), and the agnolotti (also fabulous). We started with the whipped feta ricotta which was great, but didn't come with enough toasts, and had a mocktail and 2 cocktails, all great. It was a bit chaotic because it was Christmas, but our server was very attentive and made jokes with us. All in all, the food was amazing, the live music great, the service perfect. The only two minor complaints I had was not having enough toast (they brought more eventually) and that there was only valet parking, but we had to pay 10 Dollars for it. Since it's a very expensive restaurant, feels like having to pay 20 dollars after fees and tip to park is excessive. Don't miss Leo's! read more

Having visited several of Culinary Khancepts' brands I was a bit skeptical about Leo's River Oaks meeting the hype prior to their opening. But had hopes that their ultra elegant newest entry would shake the prior disappointments from State Fare and Liberty Kitchen in the Memorial Area. Leo's offers a great first impression as you enter the restaurant, as well as the elegant décor they have staff stepping all over one another providing excellent service. Unfortunately, the food falls short of what you expect based on the luxurious furnishing. We were seat on the first level of the restaurant and at once noticed the temperature of the room was much too high to be comfortable; I cannot imagine the discomfort of those on the second level with the way heat rises so quickly. I asked our server if there was anything they might do to make the dining room more comfortable, he agreed that it was too warm and replied that others had mentioned the same issue, and he would see what he could do. About halfway through the meal the room reached a comfortable temperature; this is unacceptable for restaurant of the advertising caliber of Leo's. To begin the meal, our table order Bone Marrow Au Gratin, Burrata, Roasted Pork Belly and Grilled Octopus. The Bone Marrow as broiled nicely and had excellent buttery flavor. Roasted Pork Belly needed to be a bit leaner to capture the flavors of the meat as well as the fat, but the blend of fennel in the broth was excellent. Burrata was typical and nothing notable. Likewise with the Octopus, it was average, but the kimchi was nice touch. I love Bouillabaisse and Cioppino, so if a restaurant offers either, it is a must order for me. Having previewed the menu once we decided to try Leo's, I saw Bouillabaisse offered and my decision was easy. I could not find a photo of the Bouillabaisse on Yelp or their website to get a glimpse but the description with lobster tail, scallops, clams, gulf fish, and PEI mussels sold me. Once it served, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. Beyond a bland over-salted broth, the bowl only included about a one-ounce piece of lobster, a tiny square of fish, 2 small clams and 2 small mussels (photo attached). One of the other guests also order the Bouillabaisse as well and was in complete agreement with my assessment. When the server asked if everything was "OK" we let him know how disappointing and poor the Bouillabaisses were, he called over the manager who quickly stepped in and offer to remove them both from our check, an appreciated gesture since the dishes were $65 each. Ora King Salmon was selected by another guest who was impressed with the quality and preparation of the dish and was very satisfied with her choice. We all agreed a return visit to Leo's would not be in our future. While the service was excellent, the food quality just did not meet the price point. I do not see Leo's competing in the ultra-high-end restaurant market (becoming crowded) in Houston. If you are interest in trying Leo's, I suggest you do so soon. read more

Sunday Brunch Great location and service the food is also superb . The avocado toast with fresh crab meat is a great take on this classic and the addition of smoked trout roe adds another dimension . We also had the eggs Benedict with crab cakes and the dish was fresh and tasted amazing . Would highly recommend this place for Sunday brunch . read more

Let's start off like this Leo's is the perfect restaurant to get well dressed and enjoy some great food, live music from a pianist in one of the best looking restaurants in Houston. I came on a Thursday night and it wasn't super busy and the staff were very attentive during my dining experience. I started the night off with a bottle of distilled water and a glass of wine. I was sold on the wine from the 1st sip and my friend enjoyed the Good Chemistry cocktail (It reminds you of a Paloma but with blood orange juice but so much better). We ordered the Caesar salad which was ok... I wish the caesar dressing has a light taste and the deviled egg trio is a MUST!!! It comes with 3 deviled eggs (one caviar, one salmon and last with lobster) You have the option to customize how you want your three deviled eggs. For the entree we decided to get Broccolini - it has a garlic, sweet heat taste to it. I loved that one as well lol. I wasn't the biggest fan of Potato Dauphinoise only because of the parmesan, butter and thyme sauce was very wild. Taste like i was just eating potatoes to me... On to the entrees : The Ora King Salmon was ordered and we were very happy about this dish. The lemon herb sauce makes the dish so good. However the star of the show is the NY Strip - 14 oz of steak that is prepared to a perfect medium temperature. They use the reverse sear method so do yourself a favor and order a streak from here. read more

I was excited to try out this new steak restaurant in the River Oaks Shopping center, but was ultimately pretty disappointed. We had a reservation for 4 people for Friday night at 7:15. At 7:16 I received a text saying that our table was ready and to reply 1 if we were on our way. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:18 and upon checking in were told that we needed to wait in the bar for our table to be ready. Normally I don't mind having to wait for the table, but it was a touch more annoying given I had just received a text saying our table was ready. It was another 10 minutes before we were shown to our table. We were seated in the upstairs dining room which was lovely and a little quieter than being downstairs next to the piano. Upon being seated, we received menus and placed our water order which didn't arrive until after we placed our cocktail/appetizer order. Our cocktails then didn't arrive until after our appetizers. From the time we sat to the time we finally received a cocktail it was over 20 minutes. With regard to the food, we really enjoyed the burrata and the risotto appetizers. The butternut squash risotto was probably the best dish of the night. The bread was fine, but not worth ordering in my opinion. For mains we ordered Truffle Agnolotti, Roasted Chicken, Whole Fish, Cauliflower & Potato Dauphinoise. Our waiter also tried to talk us into the lobster Mac & cheese but I don't eat shellfish so he suggested we also order the Gnocchi. He said it was a special gnocchi with no potato (which should have been a red flag). To be completely honest, the only dish I enjoyed was the Truffle Agnolotti. The gnocchi was entirely too soft, the cauliflower was roasted well but the flavors were unappealing. The chicken was also cooked well but I didn't like the sauce. For dessert we had the orange ginger soufflé. The flavor was great but there was a layer of oil towards the bottom of the ramekin and the interior texture was... not correct. This is a new restaurant so maybe they just haven't found their sea legs yet, but for a very expensive meal neither the food nor the service was where I would expect it to be. read more

Food and service were spectacular. We did order a lavender haze drink and it came out tasting super odd (almost like alcoholic chocolate milk?) and it was a weird shade of brown. We sent it back and they were super accommodating admitting that it was made wrong and they let us choose something else which was nice. The whipped feta and octopus were also divine as well as the scallops! Would def come here again but ask to sit at one of the booths downstairs instead of a table upstairs. read more

The restaurant itself is nicely decorated. The bar area was my personal favorite area, a nice decor vibe to it. Valet available and since it's in the River Oaks strip, parking is very limited. Service: Our waiter was very nice and helpful. I did not like that our sparkling water bottle was not put on ice, this is common at restaurants but it's a nice touch when done. Was warm by the time we went for more. Food: -Bread: If you want bread you have to pay for it (they need to fix that). The butter was rock hard, even had a new one brought and same thing. Bread wasn't warm enough to melt the butter. Waste of money, do not order! -Grilled Octopus: The flavor was good but it was a bit chewy (which happens when not cooked right). Would also pass on this. -Filet Mignon: Ordered it medium and was a bit undercooked but no big deal, happens with steak. Was a bit overly salted for my taste. Not impressed by the food at this restaurant. While nothing was outright bad, everything missed the mark. With so many options in Houston, this is a pass. read more

We had an amazing night at Leo's. The ambiance and service are top notch! From the moment we were greeted to the moment we left, we were treated like royalty. The food and drinks are so delicious and decadent. Our server was so personable and knowledgeable about the food, beverages and area.
