I've dined in for five years. Service has always been the best, as is the food. However, the last visit earlier this month was not as fabulous as previous. I know Chef Kate is not there any longer and I can't help but think that has something to do with it. Wasn't even offered coffee with dessert. Yes, I'll go back. But I hope Mrs. Vallone can get things in order for the expense of the experience. Also, be sure and have a sweater or wrap because it's freezing in the restaurant. Talk about impeccable service! Tony's is top rate when it comes to experience; the entire staff is friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Their pasta selection is now some of my favorite in the city - we tried the pansoti, bolognese pappardelle, and lump crab fettuccine and all were incredible. I did half servings of the pappardelle and fettuccine as my mains and the portion size was generous and they absolutely did not skimp on the lump crab. I should've taken home leftovers of the pasta but it was too delicious to stop. We also got sides of the truffle mac and cheese and silken potatoes, which were of course both divine. One of the employees noticed that I really loved the parmesan crackers that they bring to your table to start, and he added a whole bunch of them into my to-go bag. Stopped in for a lunch. Luckily we were able to get a table right away. Wait staff was polite. I found it somewhat odd how long it took to bring us menus but guess you are supposed to relax and be social in the meantime. The atmosphere was a tad stiff. I would highly recommend looking at the dress code prior to coming. The bread to start with was delightful. Take your time since they will bring you butter and seasonings after taking their time. This was our restaurant of choice for valentines this year. The food was delicious but the service was lacking. Unfortunately to me it seems like they overbooked for the evening and understaffed themselves. We had issues getting simple drinks like iced tea. We were hoping to be able to see the musical performer for the evening but we're sat in the bar area on the complete opposite side of the restaurant. We won't be back for a while since the prices are so high. One thing I noticed was that this restaurant is really for those looking to see or be seen in Houston. More of a 4.5 out of 5 stars for their food and service, but stands out from other 4 stars in my opinion so rounding up! I had no expectations for Tony's whatsoever since I've never heard of them-- I drive by on the way to Costco, it's so discrete, and their current Yelp ratings are subpar. But luckily I was pleasantly surprised with their delicious food and gracious service :) Dinner starts off complimentary cheese crisps that are reminiscent of both cracker and chip, doused in baked-on Parmesan, super tasty. The complimentary bread, on the other hand, is forgettable. The octopus appetizer arrived sliced in pieces, but it was cooked perfectly-- slight char on the outside and super tender in the middle without being too chewy. I was happy that whatever sauce was drizzled on wasn't too overpowering or salty. Wow, probably my favorite octopus in the city now! The "mushroom of the woods" side consisted of garlic mushroom caps and Maitake mushrooms, which had a nice texture contrast (juicy and soft versus slightly crunchy), really liked that. The cone fries side is... a cone of fries, haha, and aren't well seasoned enough for my tastes, although it comes with a generous helping of ketchup. MT came for the truffle pasta and it did not disappoint. As a truffle skeptic, I had doubts, but the dish tasted like fresh cream in a good way and cheesy but not too cheesy. The truffle was enjoyable and not overwhelming-- super good! The delicate thin pasta was cooked nicely without being too soggy. Worth the price tag to try~ The butternut sage ravioli was worth trying too, slightly sweet from the butternut but a strong punch from the sage. All combined with a creamy cheese sauce that was delightful~ I think the ravioli pasta part itself was just slightly overcooked though. We also tried the fettuccine which had crab, sausage, and vodka sauce-- although it had a milder flavor, it was enjoyable. The crab chunks were big (although not the sweetest), and the sausage were like pieces of breakfast sauce (and not the type in casings). Lastly, my favorite of the night-- soufflé!! They have individual servings and a to-share serving in an impressive range of flavors (chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, Nutella, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, mixed berry, banana foster, just to name some!) that come with a mound of whipped cream. As one who has never had a blueberry soufflé, I was super impressed-- the outside has a sugared crust and the inside was so incredibly soft and fluffy (borderline not cooked, but in a good way) and it wasn't sour from the berries nor was it too sweet. It was piping hot and a perfect way to close out the night. Tony's is now my favorite soufflé place! The to-share version is enormous (ramekin diameter probably a normal dinner plate), definitely for 3+ people, and probably not as fun to eat as an individual portion. As none of the entrees sparked our interest, we were pretty full from 3 appetizer pastas, an appetizer, two sides, and dessert. The prices are pricey, just like most Houston restaurants nowadays! But if you're planning to order drinks as well, your meal is going to be $$$$. The crowd is definitely on the older and more graceful side, with most in suits and dresses. We saw several tables celebrate birthdays, where a statue cast comes topped with a giant mound of cotton candy (think Marge Simpson hair but pink!) and sparklers. As it slowly got busier in the evening, they had a live pianist singing and it was lovely :) The service was really nice and didn't give us attitude when we didn't order drinks or entrees. No parking lot-- there's only valet ($7) and the interior is a bit dated for me, womp womp, but those won't stop me from a trying another fantastic soufflé next time! Although the food was of good quality, the service was not nearly as it should've been. My family and I wanted to go out for a nice meal and yet all we noticed was how no one was really waiting on us, my mom's food came out not hot, and when the soufflé came out it was partially burnt. TONYS IS INCREDIBLE!!!! This is by far one of my favorite restaurants. They are incredibly accommodating, create amazing dishes, and have superb service. Chef Kate and her team along with the wonderful servers make this restaurant excellent. There is nothing bad on the menu EXCEPT the hanging chicken (I've never eaten it but it smells horrible). For appetizers my favorite options are: spaghetti alla chitarra Al limone cut to order (my favorite), ribbons and squares, pansoti (little fluffy pillows filled with squash), and carciofi Romani. Cannot go wrong with any of these - it depends if you're in the mood for raw fish, pasta, or a salad. For entrees red snapper is quite nice and the sauce is superb, but my favorite is the Dover sole (big enough for two) with meneire sauce and crispy capers. The prime ribeye is also fantastic! For sides, get the farro, pommes frites, and silken potatoes. For dessert, you must get the soufflé - you can choose any flavor and any sauce you want! read more

I will say. Me and my girlfriend were not entirely impressed with this resturant. I think i had ordered some pasta that was paired with lamb meat. It was delicious! 8/10 And my Girlfriend had gotten , some tortellini? it was alright to be fair. 6.5/10 Aside from the decent food. The restaurant was very nice, active chatter-ful atmosphere. However me and my girlfriend were not so pleased with our server/ service. Not so attentive to my date at all, completely ignored her request and only listened to me. She expressed this to me after we had left so we could at least try to enjoy the meal/ (First Time Experience at Tony's ) We were glad to have our spirits brought back up by the owners wife who greeted our table. Tony's is a gem to Houstonians. It's not my favorite restaurant or cuisine but it's a classic, upscale Houston fancy restaurant with history, even though this is the newest incarnation. Expect a pretty buttoned up set of business diners, ladies who lunch, regulars and those celebrating something special. Food is very good and beautifully served. Personally, I love their salads and fish. And bread. Service is very professional and attentive. Years ago we used to come for an occasional happy hour. Our first visit to Tony's, started out a little rough; however, they made up not having our table ready by providing free wine from the bar. We ordered fillets and they were cooked to perfection. For sides we had brussel sprouts and potatoes all were tasty. We had banana fosters prepared table side. We were surprised that it was only ice cream and bananas and no cake - it was 50 each so way too expensive. The dining room was extremely loud and dated - they could use a remodel. The patrons seemed to all know the owner who happened to be sitting next to us celebrating her birthday. The place was packed - overall a good experience but a little pricy. Attended a small wedding for friends at Tony's last month. We had the best time! Although Tony's is a fancy, Michelin rated restaurant, the staff made our 6 and 8 year old children feel just as welcome. The wine and bubbly selections were fantastic, and our waiter brought Shirley Temples in fancy glasses for the kids. The staff put on quite the show delivering a parade of several large platters of the flaming salt crusted red snapper; a dish not to be missed. The steaks were delicious, and the Parmesan risotto was truly transcendental. Best I've ever had. Don't miss the desserts. They all sounded delicious, but the goblet of pink cloud cotton candy served with a sparkler was so fun. This place loves fire and putting on a show! Great upscale restaurant. Went to the one in the Greenway Plaza area. Meal was spot on and super well plated. Started with lobster bisque. It was good but not great. The main was an ahi poke dish, great tasting and looking dish. Finished with a Affogato, they added Dr. Pepper, never seen this in an Affogato but tasted great. Valet service as you pull up, not sure where you would park without it. Service is great from the moment you walk in. Never felt neglected if anything you are over served. It's been a while since we have gone to Tony's so we were excited to go for dinner with friends on Friday night. Whenever we go we prefer to sit in the bar over the main dining space. It always feels a little less stiff and more laid back. I do sometimes find that the live music in the bar makes it difficult to hear your dining companions but the live singing was happening in the main dining room on this occasion which made it the perfect volume. We were seated immediately upon arrival and our cocktails appeared as if by magic almost immediately after we ordered them. Our table split the black truffle risotto and the spaghetti al limone to start and they were both excellent. Sometimes truffles don't taste very "truffle-y" but these did not disappoint. The spaghetti was perfectly al dente and had a beautiful sharp lemon flavor. I had the insalata treviso to start which was nice and light and when I couldn't decide between two pastas for my main course, our waiter offered to make a duo of them for me. Both pastas were great, but the tagliarini with yellow pomodoro was a standout for me, simple but delicious. Love that this classic Houston restaurant is still as great as it ever was. read more

Smoothest curbside pickup ever and the food travels very well too. I placed my order online over the weekend to pick up on Tuesday at 6:30PM and paid online as well. Rolled into the valet parking roundabout a couple minutes before my pickup time, rolled down my window, said my name, and rolled out. The drive home was about 25 minutes and the food was still superb and warm. My crescent island duck was *perfect* except that it was missing the black rice entirely. Luckily I had ordered a side of mac and cheese, which was average on taste but a huge portion. The boyfriend shared a bite of his 55 day aged ribeye and it was dang good and juicy! Also a huge portion and cooked to medium rare perfection. We were even given some complimentary biscotti (regular, chocolate, and tricolor) in two cute little baggies, so 6 pieces total. I ate 4 after dinner and will likely have the last 2 for breakfast tomorrow. Tony's is overall pretty standard, but very impressive nonetheless. I forgot we had been here a few years ago. The service was fantastic, all the waiters and staff were very attentive. You couldn't take a sip of water before someone was at your table refilling it. The manager came by and welcomed us in. The interior of the place is really old and outdated. We ordered the ahi tuna for our appetizer, it was good but nothing wow about it. We were so excited to this place for so long, but unfortunately, we didn't even get to try out the food here. We made a reservation and got seated at our table. We waited there for 30 full minutes, yes, we watched the clock and no server or anyone even attempted to come to our table. We've never had to experience sitting and looking at every waiter pass our table, even some seeing that we've been just sitting there staring for someone to even attempt to ask us anything. Some just blatantly walk by with no eye contact. Nope, nothing. We were totally ignored and couldn't even get one single person to our table. I went here recently and was shocked that after 30yrs, nothing had changed, and the place looked very outdated as opposed to retro. The service was low energy and no better than at Olive Gargen. The majority of clientele was either old money there to be seen or younger people celebrating something. They also have this pheasant dish that permeates the entire restaurant with a horrible smell; all the tables around us though it was a gas leak. Sometimes the word superb can become underrated, especially when you absolutely LOVE a place like Tony's. The service is superb. The food is superb. The atmosphere is superb on the next level above amazing. I've lost track on what level we are on, so let's just go with amazing. We were taken here by a client who knows I can be a little picky sometimes. I let my guard down and embraced this wonderful establishment with open arms. We were promptly greeted and immediately seated which is always a plus when your stomach is growling. I decided to be brave and try the zucchini soup to start with. Yum! Such a pleasant surprise. Before I began to download this new recipe on Pinterest to try at home, these wonderful slices of bread were served. I could've had this and the soup for my entire meal since it was so filling, but alas, I didn't drive this far to become a quitter. For the finale, I had the sliced prime tenderloin that practically melted in my mouth. I almost forgot to take a picture before diving in and took a moment to reflect that there were times we actually just ate our food. The desserts came passing by and as delectable as they looked, I reminded myself that I did not indeed wear stretchy pants to "make room" for those delicious treats. I am hoping next time that I can find a roomier outfit that fits the dress code and indulge on something sugary.
