Finally visited for happy hour, as so many people recommend this place. I had a good meal but nothing blew me away -- maybe because I didn't get their beloved lobster roll. The fish taco was good, and so were the truffle fries. I also enjoyed the stone fruit martini. Staff were nice.

2026 Updated Review: I don't write this lightly, but I'm genuinely disappointed and no longer feel as confident recommending this place the way I have over the past year. Last Saturday, my husband and I stopped in while running errands, hoping to enjoy the Chicken Parmesan. We expected a wait given how busy it was and were completely fine with that. What stood out, unfortunately, was the shift in how we were treated. We arrived casually dressed and had our three-month-old son with us in a stroller. From the moment we walked in, the reception felt noticeably different. There were looks exchanged at the front, and one of the hostesses called over a colleague to add us to the waitlist, emphasizing "two with a stroller" in a way that felt dismissive. It was disappointing, especially because we've been here many times before--both prior to and during my pregnancy--and have always had positive experiences. This time, however, the change in tone and service made us feel unwelcome. What ultimately put the nail in the coffin was the lack of follow-through. They repeated my name after entering my phone number, confirming we were on the list, but after waiting for over an hour, we never received a text for our table--and still haven't. 2024-2025 Review | 4 Stars: I first came here for a work lunch and ordered the Chicken Parmesan--after that meal, I immediately knew I had to come back for date night. Since then, we've returned several times, and it continues to impress. We usually opt for bar seating since we tend to walk in without reservations, and it makes for a more relaxed, casual date night. The ambiance leans into a cozy, upscale "whiskey bar" vibe, which I really enjoy. The Truffle Parmesan Fries are a standout--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of truffle. That said, the true highlight for me is the Chicken Parmesan. It's paired with a spicy fusilli alla vodka that's unlike anything I've had in Houston so far. The chicken is topped with fresh mozzarella and crispy fried basil, while the pasta is finished with Parmesan Reggiano. It's an exceptional dish that I highly recommend!!

This restaurant was super packed on a Saturday afternoon, so I would definitely recommend making an online reservation. There is valet parking available, as well as two free parking garages on both sides of the restaurant, which is convenient. When my party first arrived, we witnessed an unfortunate incident. An elderly man missed a small step while following the host to his table, and it was easy to see how that step could be overlooked. He ended up injuring his face and bleeding quite a bit. Thankfully, it did not seem to be a severe injury, but I would strongly recommend that the staff make guests more aware of this step for safety. Our server, Dajiah, took great care of us. She was knowledgeable about the menu and kind throughout our visit. The food was also amazing. I had the Hudson Salad, which was a very generous portion and incredibly filling. It could easily be shared between two people. My friend ordered the Chicken Parm, and it was just as delicious. I would highly recommend both dishes. Overall, I am really glad I got to try this restaurant and I am looking forward to coming back.

10/10 experience!! I recommend having Daijah as your server-- she is so attentive, knows the menu well and made great conversation. This was my first time here with my best friend and we came to enjoy happy hour. The ambience was nice, well lit and beautifully decorated. The food was not only tasty, but served fresh and warm. The drinks were perfection every time!! We can wait to comeback monthly to have girl time and catch up on life. This will be a favorite for many years to come!

Hudson House is AMAZING. Service is top-notch, but definitely make a reservation since it gets busy. Also note that parking can be a bit tricky. The ambiance feels very luxurious and upscale, making it perfect for a special night out. Their salads are some of the best in town, and honestly, you can't go wrong with any dish or drink on the menu. Everything we tried was fabulous. A great spot if you're looking for excellent food, great drinks, and a beautiful atmosphere.

Came for a Saturday lunch with friends! Didn't have a reservation but as a walk in it was a 20 minute wait which was fine. We were then serviced immediately and had such a kind server! We sat on the patio to enjoy the day and again great service! We started with the shrimp appetizer and it was amazing!! We then shared the French chicken, burger, and roll and salad! All the food was amazing and the ambiance was perfect! Highly recommend either location

I enjoyed myself time at Hudson House. Plenty of parking in the garage that makes it very convenient. The atmosphere was great. Everyone was dressed nice and it felt good to be around grown and sexy vibes. Ethan was our waiter. He provided good service. He was quick and on top of it. Those bilinis were awesome. I really like the bang bang shrimp. The red fish tacos lacked some flavor but the green sauce made up for it. The chicken parm and lobster rolls were actually good too. The highlight was the payment system. It is awesome. You do everything yourself. You split what you want yo split and tip how you want to tip. No physical credit card needed. You can even do after pay. Every restaurant needs this system instead of forcing people to pay 1 check when its a group. I love it!

The Bellini was perfect. Inside was a little hectic but only because it's a popular place. I don't recall hearing music but overall. Nice ambience and, good food and quick service.

Deliciousness all around! Our server Jennifer was exceptionally friendly. She made our lunch experience that much better. The spicy margarita was so good I ordered a couple to go with my amazing cheeseburger and truffle fried. The table also ordered Mac and Cheese which is a MUST! Trust me! If you like anything Mac and Cheese, you will LOVE THIS side. Parking can be a challenge as with anything especially with the construction on Houston roads so pack your patience. I hope to return when Im in the River Oaks area again.

I came here for the peach Bellinis! I heard they were the star of the show and I was not disappointed. While I do feel it was good, it was not the best I have ever had but I enjoyed them. I made a Sunday brunch resy for two and was sat immediately after arriving. The hostesses were kind and greeted everyone with care. We were seated in a booth that was very clean and our waitress came over very quickly to start us on drinks. This service was SUPER FAST! I was actually shocked. Some places usually cannot handle the influx of the Sunday brunch crowd and this place did awesome! I got the lobster eggs benedict and my daughter got bacon, eggs and the pancakes! Everything was really good. Lobster benedict was a bit lacking in seasoning but a great portion. My daughter enjoyed her pancakes and the bacon was awesome and thick. The scrambled eggs were just okay. Our service was outstanding and I will be back for the dinner and happy hour menu.

The food was great, the ambiance is definitely warm and inviting. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The customer service was great, although our waiter was a bit overwhelmed with tables. I would definitely go back. The drinks are amazing as well. Great experience.

Hudson House is hands down one of my favorite spots to grab a drink and unwind. The bar has a great vibe energetic but still relaxed and the bartenders know exactly what they're doing. Whether you're meeting friends or just stopping in for a quick cocktail, it always delivers. And let's talk about the rolls... absolutely top-tier. Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared every time. Pair that with the atmosphere and solid service, and you've got a winning combination. If you haven't been yet, go sometime--you won't be disappointed.

Burger was SO so good! I get it every time I come to Hudson House. I also loveeeeee their martinis. Not pictured is the Bellini I also tried which was to die for! I have always had great service at Hudson house whether I'm sitting at a table or at the bar! Highly recommend it along with trying their happy hour!

Is the outside patio open yet?

    Nope

    How is parking?

They have valet (free). They have minimal front parking, as it's shared with other businesses on that strip. Depending on time, parking can be a hassle if you don't want to valet.

So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

Clarkwood really does know what they're doing with these espresso martinis! I loved the added touch of the burnt marshmallow on mine, and the coffee seemed pretty good quality too. The second time I visited I also enjoyed their spicy watermelon margarita. Also amazing. It tasted a little bit like a spicy jolly rancher? SO good! They also let us know that if we posted and tagged them on our instagram, that we could receive a free round of shots. So, of course, me and my two friends posted to get some shots too. We were able to try the Mexican candy shot, the raspberry lemon drop shot, and the mini matcha martini shot. Honestly all were really good, but my favorite in order were the 1) raspberry lemon drop shot, 2) Mexican candy shot, then 3) the matcha martini shot. The matcha martini was good but as it's creamier, I think having it as an actual martini than a shot is more appropriate. Still, it's a great way to try a new drink and just sip on it rather than taking it as a shot. Also - the venue is so elegant and charming and such a cute spot for a date night. The music was a littleeee loud for me considering it's such a small space, but that's okay. Either way, I loved Clarkwood and will be coming back again :)

$200 to Get Cancelled On: A Masterclass in Hospitality…read more We had reservations for the 6:00 p.m. cocktail tasting in the Arc Room and were required to pre-pay $200--because nothing says "relaxing evening" like a firm financial commitment. Naturally, if we hadn't shown, we would have been charged in full. However, when we arrived right on time, we were informed the event had been canceled. Apparently, a text was sent. Equally apparently, none of us received it--nor did at least three other couples standing there having the exact same delightful surprise. The double standard was...impressive. The hostess was apologetic but clearly overwhelmed and not exactly presentation-ready (stained shirt, visibly frazzled), which didn't inspire much confidence that this was an isolated hiccup. The proposed solution was to seat us in the bar--with the added charm of a strict "out by 8:00" timeline. A bold recovery strategy for canceling a prepaid experience at the last minute. We ordered the Clarkwood gin and tonic and a lychee martini--both recommended--along with a charcuterie board. Neither drink made it to the finish line. The martini leaned aggressively sweet, and the gin and tonic featured fruit-infused ice that sounded creative but tasted...confused. It also arrived in a shade of neon blue that felt less "craft cocktail" and more "science experiment." The charcuterie board was, somehow, the standout disappointment. The almonds were oily, the meat had those telltale dried edges of something that's been sitting out too long, and the accompaniments included what appeared to be Wheat Thins and plain animal crackers. It was an unexpectedly nostalgic trip to a child's snack drawer--just not one anyone asked for. Overall, this might pass as a novelty stop for a 21 run looking for something flashy, but between canceling prepaid reservations, questionable communication, and execution that missed the mark at every turn, it's difficult to find a compelling reason to return.

If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. It wasn't bad, just... interesting and new Some tips: If you can't find this spot from the street, look for Handos. It's part of this restaurant Ask the bartender about the happy hour menu.
