I'm newer to Hudson house but have been four times now over the last couple of months and it is pretty consistent. I've been to both locations so I will leave this review on both... Although I like the Gray St. location a little better taste wise for my dynamite shrimp, I think that the University Blvd location is easier to get a reservation. This is a really good choice for date night, a family event or a girl's night. Always nice, clean and bright. Surprisingly, the chicken Parm is one of my favorite dishes here. It's probably top two for me and I've had a lot of chicken Parm. The burger is my second choice; it is so good! One of my favorite appetizers is the Dynamite Shrimp and the salad that's under has a fire dressing that they should bottle. But overall, I've tried several things with the people I've gone with, and there's nothing bad on the menu. Definitely get a reservation in advance... This isn't really a place you can just walk in unless you're sitting at the bar and you've gotten there at a good time. Parking is valet at the gray street location. It's very hard to find regular parking there. You can find parking pretty easily at the University Blvd location. My only real complaint is the service is slow... And I've had different servers at different locations and they all don't really move with a sense of urgency. It takes them a while to get back to you so you can place an order... It takes a while for them to bring out your drinks. Overall, just slow service and that's why I deducted a star. read more

To start, we had a reservation for 7 people, we arrived early, we very courteous and ordered cocktails. The cocktails were O.K, one margarita came out as tequila on the rocks, which was just ridiculous, and the staff have a basic idea of what goes into a mojito, but no real skill at making one. We were five appetizers into the experience when one of the hostesses sauntered over and loudly proclaimed, " Due to very busy, you dining experience is limited to 90 minutes" Yes, she spoke that way. She them proceeded to mean mug us for the next 45 minutes as we pushed past 90 minutes as a form of protest. We quit purchasing food, and drink and just sat there looking at her, daring her to come over and enforce her little power trip time limit. Never happened. The food was amazing, very well done. Thee waiter was amazing, he understood the mission and was tipped very well. But the bartenders, and the hostesses brough the experience down to a lowly one star. read more

We love Hudson House! This is our 4th time to eat here and the food does not disappoint! The Popcorn Chicken is seriously some of the best you will ever have. And the dynamite shrimp, certainly lives up to its name. The dining area is very beautiful and classy! It is very reminiscent of a New York restaurant- so nicely done. We went to celebrate our daughter's 28th birthday along with her friends. Everyone enjoyed it. Nina was our server and she was a delight! When the entrees were all delivered, sadly the birthday girls food was missing. Colby the manager made sure we were taken care of for the mishap and was very apologetic. (These things happen) .... From the Shrimp Cocktail, Fish Tacos, Chicken Parm, Hudson Salad, to the best burger, do yourself a favor if you have not already and try this place! You will not be disappointed! read more

10/10 experience!! I recommend having Daijah as your server-- she is so attentive, knows the menu well and made great conversation. This was my first time here with my best friend and we came to enjoy happy hour. The ambience was nice, well lit and beautifully decorated. The food was not only tasty, but served fresh and warm. The drinks were perfection every time!! We can wait to comeback monthly to have girl time and catch up on life. This will be a favorite for many years to come! read more

This is my second time for a friends birthday and it was great again! The salad was HUGE so worth the price. I was able to have lots of left overs. The chicken parm was pretty good and a good portion size. My friends said the frozen Bellini was strong, it seems most of the drinks are strong from what I was hearing from friends. I don't care for key lime pie but it was good. Now that chocolate (mousse?)Pie.... Absolutely amazing I could've eaten two.... They had a sparkler on it for her birthday so cute! Service was great even on a busy Friday night with a larger party! The nice thing is they have a QR code when you're ready to pay and you can split the bill up and people can pick their orders and pay for them through the code. It's nice when technology works! read more

This may be new favorite place. Came here Friday for happy hour with a friend. This place was bustling with ppl at the bar by 5. If you want to avoid the wait I'd get there closer to 3 when happy hour starts. I arrived around 5 and had to wait about 30 mins for a seat. Luckily I made it in time to try happy hour. I ordered two peach Bellinis and woah those things are deadly! Literally 1 will have you floating lol. Very good very strong! My happy hour burger was yummy as well, but the truffle fries really stole the show. My friend tried the Bellini too and was pleasantly surprised. After that round she ordered a Lemon drop martini & I ordered an espresso martini. My only gripe is my martini came out half full while hers was bubbling at the rim lol. What's up with that? Besides that and a bit of delayed service this was an excellent early dinner place! read more

Amazing food and drinks at Hudson House. The food is presented beautifully. I had the Greek salad and it was massive. Their skinny fries are delicious. My husband really enjoyed his martini and steak frites. Their front outdoor patio is dog friendly which is a major plus for me. We brought our two golden doodles along and they received so much attention. They have self parking and valet parking. I definitely will be coming back. read more

We went to Hudson House for my birthday. The parking is bad so we valet parked for $10. When we walked up to the restaurant we were a little confused about how to enter because you have to go through the patio to enter the restaurant. Our server was Nora, and she was nice and attentive. We started out with the east coast oysters which were small but good. I had the Stone Fruit Martini and it was good. I also had the Lobster Benedict for brunch, which was lukewarm. My husband had the cheeseburger and lobster Mac and Cheese, and it was good. The frozen Bellinis were strong and good. If we go back again it'll be for happy hour and I'll probably try the lobster roll. read more

2026 Updated Review: I don't write this lightly, but I'm genuinely disappointed and no longer feel as confident recommending this place the way I have over the past year. Last Saturday, my husband and I stopped in while running errands, hoping to enjoy the Chicken Parmesan. We expected a wait given how busy it was and were completely fine with that. What stood out, unfortunately, was the shift in how we were treated. We arrived casually dressed and had our three-month-old son with us in a stroller. From the moment we walked in, the reception felt noticeably different. There were looks exchanged at the front, and one of the hostesses called over a colleague to add us to the waitlist, emphasizing "two with a stroller" in a way that felt dismissive. It was disappointing, especially because we've been here many times before--both prior to and during my pregnancy--and have always had positive experiences. This time, however, the change in tone and service made us feel unwelcome. What ultimately put the nail in the coffin was the lack of follow-through. They repeated my name after entering my phone number, confirming we were on the list, but after waiting for over an hour, we never received a text for our table--and still haven't. 2024-2025 Review | 4 Stars: I first came here for a work lunch and ordered the Chicken Parmesan--after that meal, I immediately knew I had to come back for date night. Since then, we've returned several times, and it continues to impress. We usually opt for bar seating since we tend to walk in without reservations, and it makes for a more relaxed, casual date night. The ambiance leans into a cozy, upscale "whiskey bar" vibe, which I really enjoy. The Truffle Parmesan Fries are a standout--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of truffle. That said, the true highlight for me is the Chicken Parmesan. It's paired with a spicy fusilli alla vodka that's unlike anything I've had in Houston so far. The chicken is topped with fresh mozzarella and crispy fried basil, while the pasta is finished with Parmesan Reggiano. It's an exceptional dish that I highly recommend!! read more

This restaurant was super packed on a Saturday afternoon, so I would definitely recommend making an online reservation. There is valet parking available, as well as two free parking garages on both sides of the restaurant, which is convenient. When my party first arrived, we witnessed an unfortunate incident. An elderly man missed a small step while following the host to his table, and it was easy to see how that step could be overlooked. He ended up injuring his face and bleeding quite a bit. Thankfully, it did not seem to be a severe injury, but I would strongly recommend that the staff make guests more aware of this step for safety. Our server, Dajiah, took great care of us. She was knowledgeable about the menu and kind throughout our visit. The food was also amazing. I had the Hudson Salad, which was a very generous portion and incredibly filling. It could easily be shared between two people. My friend ordered the Chicken Parm, and it was just as delicious. I would highly recommend both dishes. Overall, I am really glad I got to try this restaurant and I am looking forward to coming back. read more

Hudson House is hands down one of my favorite spots to grab a drink and unwind. The bar has a great vibe energetic but still relaxed and the bartenders know exactly what they're doing. Whether you're meeting friends or just stopping in for a quick cocktail, it always delivers. And let's talk about the rolls... absolutely top-tier. I enjoyed myself time at Hudson House. Plenty of parking in the garage that makes it very convenient. The atmosphere was great. Everyone was dressed nice and it felt good to be around grown and sexy vibes. Ethan was our waiter. He provided good service. He was quick and on top of it. Those bilinis were awesome. I really like the bang bang shrimp. The red fish tacos lacked some flavor but the green sauce made up for it. The chicken parm and lobster rolls were actually good too. The highlight was the payment system. It is awesome. You do everything yourself. You split what you want yo split and tip how you want to tip. No physical credit card needed. You can even do after pay. Every restaurant needs this system instead of forcing people to pay 1 check when its a group. I love it! read more

Very few things bring me as much joy as when I experience a new favorite happy hour spot for the first time. Hudson House has definitely creeped its way into my top 5 Houston happy hour spots. Ambiance at this spot is great. I loved the duality of the dim lighting offered on the inside (creating an intimate lightly romantic atmosphere) and the patio seating outdoors (creating a fun, light atmosphere). Not to mention they have thee cutesttttt bar with such cute finishing details. Food and drinks were soooo good. Food was simple but sooooo tasty (I ordered the burger, fries, and broccoli). Drinks were also so well crafted. Definitely one of those spots where you'll want to sit and savor your drink (especially if you order the lemon drop). Service was excellent. Staff were polite, attentive and so helpful. Definitely would endorse this as a certified happy hour lover and will without a doubt be returning. read more

I came here for the peach Bellinis! I heard they were the star of the show and I was not disappointed. While I do feel it was good, it was not the best I have ever had but I enjoyed them. I made a Sunday brunch resy for two and was sat immediately after arriving. The hostesses were kind and greeted everyone with care. We were seated in a booth that was very clean and our waitress came over very quickly to start us on drinks. This service was SUPER FAST! I was actually shocked. Some places usually cannot handle the influx of the Sunday brunch crowd and this place did awesome! I got the lobster eggs benedict and my daughter got bacon, eggs and the pancakes! Everything was really good. Lobster benedict was a bit lacking in seasoning but a great portion. My daughter enjoyed her pancakes and the bacon was awesome and thick. The scrambled eggs were just okay. Our service was outstanding and I will be back for the dinner and happy hour menu. read more

The Good: Well-designed restaurant. Salmon was excellent and properly cooked, as requested, medium rare. The Less Good: Service was mixed. Appetizer came with the entree even though we discussed one before the other. Espresso martini was too sweet for our liking despite asking: How do you make it and saying here's what we want. Somewhere along the way, vodka, Kahlua and espresso (only) didn't translate. We're a one and done but I can't complain about the salmon or design. read more

What a great spot! I went here for my friends birthday and it was our first time going. Let me start by advising that parking will not be an issue. There is valet or you can pay and park. Now when I made the reservation I had never been there before but the reviews and food looked great. I was greeted upon arrival and all the staff were friendly. The vibe was giving as I would dress business casual and the place is a vibe. I decided to sit at the bar and had the pleasure of meeting Franco who made an amazing drink called "Stone Fruit". It was a vodka fruit flavored drink. A must order. We ordered the Chicken Parmesan which chicken was seasoned sauce had a light spicy flavored with homemade pasta noodles and cheese. It was so good. It was what I kept seeing on the reviews. My friend ordered the Lobster Roll that she loved. We also ordered the dynamite shrimp as an appetizer another favorite. I even enjoyed eating the radish and cabbage vinegerette underneath the dish. My server was Daniel and he was and provided options and continues to check on us. Let me give another shout out to Franco cause he was working hard making those drinks very nice bartender. We were able to try the dessert Chocolate Silk Pie. It was good was there is like a cookie crust with graham cracker crumbles and some kind mousse in the top it was everything. Please try this restaurant you will not be disappointed. Went to Hudson House tonight on a double date and honestly had such a great time. The ambiance was amazing -- lively, young, and eclectic -- the perfect vibe for a double date. Our waiter was fantastic too; warm, attentive, and really added to the experience. For food, we started with the pressed ahi tuna sushi, which absolutely stole the show. The flavors were fresh and exquisite. We also tried the burger, the French chicken, and a side of lobster mac and cheese. Both the chicken and burger were delicious, but the lobster mac and cheese was just okay -- a bit pricey for what it was. Overall, Hudson House was definitely a hit. Between the fun atmosphere, great service, and standout dishes, I'll absolutely be back to try more from the menu. read more

We went during happy hour and had a nice time! Service was nice but seemed busy so we didn't get refills, but no biggie. My bf ordered the happy hour burger with a side of fries (not included) and he liked it- the burger came with a side of pickle and looked good. I ordered the hot lobster roll and it hit the spot as someone who misses East coast lobster rolls. I understand there's a cold version, but I didn't opt with that- although that one sounds like it had more toppings. Drinks were also half off during happy hour and the lemon drop was yum. Truffle fries were good just to try once, but probably would opt for the regular fries next time. I really liked the texture of the fries though- it wasn't oily at all! We were also able to sit outside during happy hour which was a plus. Overall food was good and service was pleasant and we would be back! read more

Cute spot with a bit of an upscale ambiance. Pretty busy on the weekends. I had to pay for parking in the back. I tried the fish tacos and truffle fries. The fish tacos are more like a burrito which is interesting... it's rolled well and it's quite filling. The flavor is on the lighter side thanks to all the veggies. I like that there was a light green sauce on the side to accompany it. Arugula salad is a nice touch as well. The truffle fries are skinny which I enjoyed. I now understand why this place is so popular, the food is amazing! My friend and I went to Hudson house on a Friday during happy hour. Both the inside and outside was packed. Hudson House is located right next to Brasserie 19 so the whole area generally is buzzing with people and energy. The outdoor patio area is nice with covered umbrellas and good for people watching. HH does a good job of making sure there is good and consistent service. There's plenty of seating along the bar area and good variety for small groups and larger groups. All good fun. The dishes I would routinely eat and recommend is their FISH TACOS blackened white fish, mild cheddar, coleslaw, Jack's salad, chipotle remoulade; FRENCH CHICKEN sous vide & thinly sliced, cajun spices, herb blend, skinny fries, arugula salad, lemon beurre blanc; THE CHEESEBURGER double thin patties, American cheese, sliced pickles & minced onion, Hudson sauce and their HH East Coast Moonpoint Oysters. I think there are a lot of other good choices on the menu and items I'm going to taste on my next visit will be their deserts, but this place slings some great food and good vibe. read more

I had such a great experience at Hudson house! I really was unsure what to expect. Sometimes the places you hear about and see on social media are not that great. I went during their happy hour, martinis were half off, meaning my bleu and gold martini was only eight dollars. I also tried the best role, and the Montauk roll both were riceless, and surprisingly filling. They both had a distinct, fresh flavor, and I would order both again. So me and my boyfriend hit up Hudson House on Friday for happy hour. Like always, I had us a reservation (because I don't play about securing a spot), but turns out happy hour is bar-only--so we had to fight for our lives to get two seats. Luckily, someone got up just in time and we swooped right in. Perfect timing! I started hyping the place up to my man, telling him how my friend brought me here last time and put me on to their lemon drop--it's not your average lemon drop, it hits different. I convinced him to try it, while I went for my personal favorite: the stone fruit cocktail with the sweet and sour rim. Y'all, it's dangerously good. For food, I ordered the Hudson salad with popcorn chicken on top. They claimed the chicken was spicy... I didn't get any spice, but it was still fire. My boyfriend went for the cheeseburger (because I wouldn't stop raving about it from my last visit). He's a cheese lover too, so it was right up his alley. He even let me have his pickle because he said eating a random pickle felt weird--more for me! Now, quick side note: the lady next to us had truffle fries, and the moment my man saw them, he had truffle fry envy. He stuck with his skinny fries, but trust me, he cleaned that plate like always. The vibe was chill, the drinks were flowing, and everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves. It's always a good time at Hudson House. We'll definitely be back--right after I get back from my trip! read more
