I'm newer to Hudson house but have been four times now over the last couple of months and it is pretty consistent. I've been to both locations so I will leave this review on both... Although I like the Gray St., Location a little better taste wise for my dynamite shrimp, I think that the University Blvd location is easier to get a reservation. This is a really good choice for date night, a family event or a girl's night. Always nice, clean and bright. Surprisingly, the chicken Parm is one of my favorite dishes here. It's probably top two for me and I've had a lot of chicken Parm. The burger is my second choice; it is so good! One of my favorite appetizers is the Dynamite Shrimp and the salad that's under has a fire dressing that they should bottle. But overall, I've tried several things with the people I've gone with, and there's nothing bad on the menu. Definitely get a reservation in advance... This isn't really a place you can just walk in unless you're sitting at the bar and you've gotten there at a good time. Parking is valet at the gray street location. It's very hard to find regular parking there. You can find parking pretty easily at the University Blvd location. My only real complaint is the service is slow... And I've had different servers at different locations and they all don't really move with a sense of urgency. It takes them a while to get back to you so you can place an order... It takes a while for them to bring out your drinks. Overall, just slow service and that's why I deducted a star. read more

To start, we had a reservation for 7 people, we arrived early, we very courteous and ordered cocktails. The cocktails were O.K, one margarita came out as tequila on the rocks, which was just ridiculous, and the staff have a basic idea of what goes into a mojito, but no real skill at making one. We were five appetizers into the experience when one of the hostesses sauntered over and loudly proclaimed, " Due to very busy, you dining experience is limited to 90 minutes" Yes, she spoke that way. She them proceeded to mean mug us for the next 45 minutes as we pushed past 90 minutes as a form of protest. We quit purchasing food, and drink and just sat there looking at her, daring her to come over and enforce her little power trip time limit. Never happened. The food was amazing, very well done. Thee waiter was amazing, he understood the mission and was tipped very well. But the bartenders, and the hostesses brough the experience down to a lowly one star. read more

We love Hudson House! This is our 4th time to eat here and the food does not disappoint! The Popcorn Chicken is seriously some of the best you will ever have. And the dynamite shrimp, certainly lives up to its name. The dining area is very beautiful and classy! It is very reminiscent of a New York restaurant- so nicely done. We went to celebrate our daughter's 28th birthday along with her friends. Everyone enjoyed it. Nina was our server and she was a delight! When the entrees were all delivered, sadly the birthday girls food was missing. Colby the manager made sure we were taken care of for the mishap and was very apologetic. (These things happen) .... From the Shrimp Cocktail, Fish Tacos, Chicken Parm, Hudson Salad, to the best burger, do yourself a favor if you have not already and try this place! You will not be disappointed! read more

This is my second time for a friends birthday and it was great again! The salad was HUGE so worth the price. I was able to have lots of left overs. The chicken parm was pretty good and a good portion size. My friends said the frozen Bellini was strong, it seems most of the drinks are strong from what I was hearing from friends. I don't care for key lime pie but it was good. Now that chocolate (mousse?)Pie.... Absolutely amazing I could've eaten two.... They had a sparkler on it for her birthday so cute! Service was great even on a busy Friday night with a larger party! The nice thing is they have a QR code when you're ready to pay and you can split the bill up and people can pick their orders and pay for them through the code. We went to Hudson House for my birthday. The parking is bad so we valet parked for $10. When we walked up to the restaurant we were a little confused about how to enter because you have to go through the patio to enter the restaurant. Our server was Nora, and she was nice and attentive. We started out with the east coast oysters which were small but good. I had the Stone Fruit Martini and it was good. I also had the Lobster Benedict for brunch, which was lukewarm. My husband had the cheeseburger and lobster Mac and Cheese, and it was good. The frozen Bellinis were strong and good. My husband really enjoyed his martini and steak frites. Their front outdoor patio is dog friendly which is a major plus for me. This may be new favorite place. Came here Friday for happy hour with a friend. This place was bustling with ppl at the bar by 5. If you want to avoid the wait I'd get there closer to 3 when happy hour starts. I arrived around 5 and had to wait about 30 mins for a seat. Luckily I made it in time to try happy hour. I ordered two peach Bellinis and woah those things are deadly! Literally 1 will have you floating lol. Very good very strong! My happy hour burger was yummy as well, but the truffle fries really stole the show. My friend tried the Bellini too and was pleasantly surprised. After that round she ordered a Lemon drop martini & I ordered an espresso martini. My only gripe is my martini came out half full while hers was bubbling at the rim lol. What's up with that? This restaurant was super packed on a Saturday afternoon, so I would definitely recommend making an online reservation. There is valet parking available, as well as two free parking garages on both sides of the restaurant, which is convenient. When my party first arrived, we witnessed an unfortunate incident. An elderly man missed a small step while following the host to his table, and it was easy to see how that step could be overlooked. He ended up injuring his face and bleeding quite a bit. Thankfully, it did not seem to be a severe injury, but I would strongly recommend that the staff make guests more aware of this step for safety. Our server, Dajiah, took great care of us. She was knowledgeable about the menu and kind throughout our visit. The food was also amazing. I had the Hudson Salad, which was a very generous portion and incredibly filling. It could easily be shared between two people. My friend ordered the Chicken Parm, and it was just as delicious. I would highly recommend both dishes. I came here for the peach Bellinis! I heard they were the star of the show and I was not disappointed. While I do feel it was good, it was not the best I have ever had but I enjoyed them. I made a Sunday brunch resy for two and was sat immediately after arriving. The hostesses were kind and greeted everyone with care. We were seated in a booth that was very clean and our waitress came over very quickly to start us on drinks. This service was SUPER FAST! I was actually shocked. Some places usually cannot handle the influx of the Sunday brunch crowd and this place did awesome! I got the lobster eggs benedict and my daughter got bacon, eggs and the pancakes! Very few things bring me as much joy as when I experience a new favorite happy hour spot for the first time. Hudson House has definitely creeped its way into my top 5 Houston happy hour spots. Ambiance at this spot is great. I loved the duality of the dim lighting offered on the inside (creating an intimate lightly romantic atmosphere) and the patio seating outdoors (creating a fun, light atmosphere). We had lunch at Hudson House this past Tuesday after making reservations, and unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. I'll start with the one positive: our server, Nina, was friendly, attentive, and did everything she could to help. None of what went wrong was her fault. The problems started almost immediately. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice as an appetizer, but it didn't arrive until our entrées were served. At that point, it's no longer an appetizer. I ordered the lobster roll with truffle parmesan fries, and my daughter ordered the cheeseburger. After taking a few bites, my daughter found a hair inside her burger. That's completely unacceptable. To the manager's credit, he did come to our table and apologize after Nina notified him, and the kitchen prepared a new burger. However, even the replacement wasn't right--it was missing the pickle that normally comes with it. Then came the final straw. When our bill arrived, we noticed we had been charged twice for the cheeseburger. Nina immediately took the check to the manager to have it corrected. After everything that had already gone wrong--the late appetizer, a hair in my daughter's burger requiring the meal to be remade, and then being billed twice--I fully expected management to make this right. Instead, they simply removed the duplicate charge. That was it. The manager never came back to apologize for the billing mistake, never acknowledged the string of errors, and didn't even offer to comp the contaminated burger. We weren't asking for a free meal, but after multiple mistakes--especially serving a burger with a hair in it--this was a surprising display of poor customer service. Mistakes happen in every restaurant. What matters is how management responds. Unfortunately, Hudson House completely missed the mark. It felt as though once the duplicate charge was fixed, they considered the situation resolved, despite everything else that had happened. For a restaurant with Hudson House's reputation and prices, I expected much better. The food itself had some bright spots--the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice was good, and I enjoyed my lobster roll--but good food doesn't make up for poor quality control and management that fails to take ownership when things go wrong. Sadly, I can't recommend Hudson House. There are too many excellent restaurants in Houston to spend your time and money at one that doesn't stand behind its mistakes. read more

If you're a dirty martini girl like myself, this is the best one in Houston by far. It doesn't get better than an ice cold martini with homemade blue cheese olives and Hudson House has perfected it. Hudson House is located right next to Brasserie 19 so the whole area generally is buzzing with people and energy. The outdoor patio area is nice with covered umbrellas and good for people watching. HH does a good job of making sure there is good and consistent service. There's plenty of seating along the bar area and good variety for small groups and larger groups. All good fun. The dishes I would routinely eat and recommend is their FISH TACOS blackened white fish, mild cheddar, coleslaw, Jack's salad, chipotle remoulade; FRENCH CHICKEN sous vide & thinly sliced, cajun spices, herb blend, skinny fries, arugula salad, lemon beurre blanc; THE CHEESEBURGER double thin patties, American cheese, sliced pickles & minced onion, Hudson sauce and their HH East Coast Moonpoint Oysters. I had such a great experience at Hudson house! I really was unsure what to expect. Sometimes the places you hear about and see on social media are not that great. I went during their happy hour, martinis were half off, meaning my bleu and gold martini was only eight dollars. I also tried the best role, and the Montauk roll both were riceless, and surprisingly filling. They both had a distinct, fresh flavor, and I would order both again. I sat on the patio because it was a nice afternoon and the vibe was really good. It was getting pretty crowded by the time I left.
