I made a reservation at Atlantic Ocean and informed them at the time of booking that we were celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately, no one mentioned a $35 cake-cutting fee for our party of four. Had this been disclosed in advance, it would have prevented an unpleasant surprise at the end of the evening. The steak I ordered was flavorful and cooked well; however, nearly a quarter of the cut consisted of fat, which was disappointing given the price point and the restaurant's upscale positioning. What truly put a damper on the evening was the loss of a special pair of sunglasses that I accidentally left behind. We left very close to closing time, and there were only a few people remaining in the restaurant. I felt confident they would be found and turned in by staff, but unfortunately they were not. That was especially disappointing and left me questioning the level of care and service one would expect from a restaurant that promotes an upscale dining experience. Overall, while there were positive aspects to the meal, the undisclosed fee and the handling of my lost item significantly impacted what should have been a memorable birthday celebration. read more

My girls and I tried out Atlantic Ocean for happy hour on a Wednesday and it lived up to the hype. We got there around 5:15pm (they open at 5) and we were greeted warmly by the staff. The restaurant is very spacious. We were seated at a booth facing the window, which was nice because we got to watch the sun set over time. Our waitress brought over the regular menu and the happy hour menu. Happy hour is from 5-7pm and the price point varies. We got a variety of things; crab cakes, gumbo, oysters ($1.50/oyster), crab claws, and fried tomatoes. Everything was hot, fresh and tasty. The entire happy hour menu, including the drinks, is a hit!! I hope they don't change the prices or the variety as they get more popular. The service was great too! As far as parking, we took a ride-share there but I believe they have valet services. There is also limited self parking in the front of the other stores but they are always taken up so don't bother. I heard so much buzz about this new restaurant and was excited to give them a try. My friend and I ordered quite a few apps off the happy hour menu as the prices couldn't be beat. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We ordered the crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, crab claws, and gumbo. All the appetizers were a 10/10. For mains we ordered the fried snapper, collard greens(delicious), grilled branzino. The fried snapper was great but the rice that comes with it was just ok. The branzino was very bland and did not have the depth of flavors we thought it would have. We asked if we could exchange for a different menu item and the manager made a point to let us know that the Branzino is a favorite among guest and the restaurant and policy is to not take items back. He did accommodate our request and we were able to order the redfish that was 10/10. I highly recommend their happy hour. read more

Went for friend's birthday. The restaurant was hard to find, my GPS took me around and round, but once I got there, it was worth it. We had great service. Aaron was fun. He wasn't our waiter, but he kept us laughing. The manager came and checked in on us, and the food was good. My friend had the whole fish. I had the seafood dip and my other two friends had steak and everybody enjoyed their meal. Love the panoramic windows. It gives a lot of good natural light to get great photos. read more

So my friend and I were on our way home from a function and found this place on the Google. It is located just under the apartment complex Elan. There is plenty of parking in the garage. Turns out it's brand new and we happened to stop by during their soft opening! This is a seafood restaurant with many delicious options. The offer a variety of water which I love. Of course I got sparkling water! Our waitress was lovely! So helpful with setting the experience and providing useful information! We started with the shrimp dip! Um 10/10 it was so good! I mean perfection put it on a pasta literally! It come with a warm soft bread covered in parmeasan. I ordered the fried snapper which comes with dirty rice. Absolutely excellent! 10/10. My friend ordered the blackened snapper and said it was great as well! Lastly we ordered the crossiant bread pudding! Excuse me! Hands down the best bread pudding! It also comes with home made vanilla bean ice cream. We had a chance to meet one of the chef/ owners! Appreciated his insight into his vision for the restaurant! Just Wow! That's how I felt leaving this restaurant. It was not what I expected at all. We saw this restaurant on Instagram so decided to give it a try. From what we saw online we knew it was a black owned upscale restaurant by Chef Virgil so we were excited about that as well. If you been to Toast on Lenox in ATL, then you know Chef Virgil and you know that food was GREAT! Let's get into it. They have a parking garage with a few spots and a few spots out front but to be safe come prepared to Valet. We walked in and we were immediately greeted and led to our seats. Our waiter Dwayne didn't even let us sit down good before he was greeted us. He was Amazing throughout the night. He was so passionate that you would swear he owned the resturant. This man loves his job. The ambiance is very nice. It gives upscale vibes with no grass walls and no twerking vibe. It doesn't appear to be a dress code but everyone looked pretty nice while a few looked to be in comfort clothes. We came during happy hour so we could taste all the items. The gumbo...loved it and the highlight and 5$$$$ on happy hour! The charbroiled oysters were sizzling and good. We are not lamb chop people but we ordered them He really liked them. The sweet potato puree brought out the flavor. The crab cake was great. The crab claws... omg.. that flavor. I ordered sides that were not on happy hour which were the Mac n cheese and greens. I have never seen that much cheese it mac.. that was amazing. The greens were great. They have a unique taste that you not ready for but they are great. Where do I start??? The food is absolutely Devine! Went there on a Thursday for a surprise bday celebration for my good friend Mary. lol (inside joke). They do have a great HH albeit short 5 - 7 pm So when we got there, the bar area which is kinda small was definitely filled. However to make up for small bar, they let you order HH deals at the tables. Atlantic Ocean When we get there I talk to Aaron whom I assume is the manager and baby if I say Aaron did his big one??? He did! He was able to sit my impromptu party of 6 at a table. Great decor! Clean great smelling restrooms! Service was prompt and drinks good! Now to the important information! The food! That food was 10/10! I am a tough critic and this food especially being for HH was amazing! We got the Seafood gumbo; fried green tomatoes &okra; char grilled oysters; crab claws; crab cake and the lamb chops! Basically everything on the HH menu and everything was literally 10/10. We were seated at a high top in the bar area since we did not have a reservation. Quincy from the bar waited on us. We ordered salmon, redfish, and corn ribs. Everything was fantastic! Tabby came by to check on us and in general everyone that worked there seemed glad to be there. Just tried Atlantic Ocean in The Heights and I'm seriously impressed. The location is perfect, and having both valet and self-parking makes it super convenient which is a big deal in Houston. The food was incredible from start to finish. The garlic shrimp appetizer was buttery and full of flavor, the Moroccan lamb chops were tender and perfectly seasoned, and the vegan steak cauliflower was surprisingly hearty and delicious. The Branzino was light, fresh, and cooked beautifully easily one of my favorite dishes of the night. The service tied everything together attentive, welcoming, and elevated without feeling overdone. They are still working out minor kinks here but this is easily one of the best restaurants in Houston right now, and I'll definitely be back. read more
