The honeycomb seating was what initially drew me to this ramen place. We don't see a lot of ramen places in Chinatown, so it was exciting to hear about their opening. We didn't try this place until recently due to long lines in the past. We both ordered number 1 - Tokyo Tonkotsu Shoyu, one with black garlic and the other white garlic, for flavor comparison. The black garlic made the broth more fragrant while the white garlic flavor was more subtle. The flavor of the broth was rich, meat was tender, and ingredients were fresh. I do enjoy thin ramen noodles but prefer a different kind/texture. The cherry blossom dessert was delicious and refreshing! Staff was attentive and professional. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here!

Saw this place on tiktok and wanted to check out the unique Honeycomb seating. Overall, the vibes of the restaurant are very nice. There's also private booths that you can sit in if you'd like. The service was a little slow considering how empty it was when we came. And the rice and dessert was a little bland compared to what I'm used to. But the ramen and honeycomb platter was delicious, which I suppose makes sense for a Ramen shop. There are many more things on the menu to try so I will be back.

Date night done right. My husband and I checked out Kyuramen in Houston on a Saturday evening and honestly? Worth every minute of the wait. We waited about 25 minutes, which felt very reasonable given the time and day. They don't take reservations unless your party is over six, but the flow was smooth and well-organized. Based on availability, you can choose between eating in a hive-style booth or a private room, we opted for the private booth and absolutely loved it. The setup is chef's kiss: curtains that fully close, a button to call your server, and excellent soundproofing. Even though the booths are back-to-back, you can't see or hear anyone else. It felt intimate, cozy, and intentionally designed for conversation perfect for a date night. I ordered the Flank Steak Ramen (a special at the time we went) which came with a choice of a custom deck of playing cards or a tote bag (fun touch!), a Chicken Bao Bun, and Thai Iced Tea. FIRST OF ALL hands down the best Thai tea I've ever had. Balanced, creamy, not overly sweet. My husband had the Pork Tonkotsu Ramen, a Pork Bao Bun, and the House-made Lemonade (refreshing with a subtle cucumber twist that elevated it beyond a standard lemonade). Every bite was flavorful, rich, and thoughtfully prepared. The ramen was deeply comforting without being heavy, and the bao buns were soft, pillowy, and perfectly filled. For dessert, we shared the Matcha Tiramisu and let me just say, that decision was immediately regrettable . It was smooth, not too sweet, and beautifully balanced with the matcha. I was already planning my own order for next time. Beyond the food, the service was warm and attentive, and the entire experience felt elevated without being pretentious. This is absolutely a place I want to come back to, whether for another date night or when friends are visiting. Thoughtful design, excellent food and drinks, and a calm, intimate atmosphere make Kyuramen a standout in Houston's dining scene. Would happily return (and not share dessert next time).

Compare to their Massachusetts location, this location is much more esthetically pleasing to the eyes starting from in front of their door to inside. I didn't have to wait on a Friday lunch time. As I was leaving, I noticed the wishing tree towards the back and I wished I would have at least ask if I can write something to hang up there. Perhaps, next time or someone let me know if you can. Servers are friendly and I felt bad that they had to go up and down the stairs, carrying all those stuff with tiny steps. #1 Tokyo Tonkotsu Shouyu Ramen - I got it with black garlic for an extra $1. The ramen itself was okay. It wasn't the best I haver ever had but not the worst. Broths is not bad. I didn't taste much garlic as black garlic supposed to have a more potent taste to it compare to their white garlic. Ramen itself has a slight chew texture. Also, I drink the whole thing and got to the bottom of the bowl to only get a "thank you" in Japanese. lol. If you're lucky, you can get a free ramen bowl. Good luck! Pork Tonkatsu Omurice Combo - got this with curry sauce and Amazing Lemonade. Amazing Lemonade is delicious and refreshing! Highly recommend if you like lemonade with cucumbers. You can actually taste the cucumbers. Curry sauce is delicious with soft fluffy omuirce and side of fried chicken. Pour curry sauce over it, *chefs kiss.* rice and pork was perfectly cooked. It's not dry but not extremely moist rice either. Just right. To me, prices are moderate. Maybe slightly higher than other places but you're also paying for the ambiance. At least it's not one of those places that's just for all ambiance. The drinks and food are not bad and worth it. It's definitely a unique restaurant.

Kyuramen is the only restaurant I know of that serves this style of soft fluffy omurice in the Houston area. I love the interior decors, and their service has always been good. I've been going to them since they first opened. I've never had an issue with the wait times, even on the weekends, but that's because I don't always choose to sit inside the honeycomb booths. I have eaten both in person and to-go so many times, and their quality has always been consistent. Their menu has changed since they first opened, and they've added more options to their menu since. I've tried most of their menu over the years, but my favorites are definitely the Pork Tonkatsu Omurice with curry sauce, the Black Garlic Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen, the Okonomiyaki, the Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly, and the Thai Iced Tea. I really love how their ramen broths are flavorful but not salty, and their pork tonkatsu is fluffy, crispy, and easily my favorite out of everywhere else I've tried. For their omurice, the fried rice is okay (a bit light on the chicken), and I prefer the curry sauce (light but flavorful) over the demiglace (a bit bland). Okonomiyaki is one of my favorite Japanese dishes, and this one from Kyuramen is delicious, saucy, and flavorful. I love their Thai Iced tea because it's not too sweet and goes well with the foods, and their Japanese Cherry Blossom Jelly is so refreshing and not too sweet. The price range here is a bit higher than typical ramen places around town, but the experience and foods are definitely worth it. Photos are from my various trips.

Went for dinner around 7pm. It's in Asia town so tons of options around. No reservations accepted. We were able to sit in the honeycomb booths. Kinda cool but very uncomfortable. Their is no back to rest against because it slants away. The atmosphere is cute but nothing to rave about. They have private eating areas with curtains. There is a call button anytime you need a server. The ramen was average. My friend got the pork belly ramen and it had at least 18 million cupfuls of bonito flakes. She scooped out 3 plate fulls. Not great. I had the vegetable ramen with veggie broth. Tasted a little bland. The matcha tiramisu was good. The cherry blossom jelly was interesting. The ramen was mediocre. Probably won't go back again.

So lovely! What a nice spot. The service was excellent too! I had intended to go to neighboring Paik's Noodles - but forgot they are closed on Tuesdays. Stopped in for lunch. This is that "honeycomb ramen place" that you've seen on social media. I ordered the Pork TonKatsu Omurice which came with a choice or Curry Sauce or Demi Glacé; and either a Thai Iced Tea of Lemonade. The waiter sliced the steaming, fluffy omelette at the table. The pork cutlet was hot and crispy. I will definitely be back to try the ramen! The nice thing about the shopping center where the restaurant is located -- is that it's on the fringe of the hectic busy part of the Bellaire/Chinatown District. Parking was easy.

Such a fun ramen spot! Their interior is absolutely beautiful. Their menu was jam packed with ramen, sides, apps, rice burgers, omurice, etc. Their combo offerings are well priced. The ramen itself was intensely flavored. Thai tea was decent. One of our bowls had a red sticker on the bottom which meant we won a free drink at our next visit. Good excuse to come back!

Shin chan!!!

Although the interior of this Kyuramen location is so beautiful, the ramen itself is pretty standard. I absolutely love the giant honeycomb that you can sit in and the Shin Chan decor at the host desk! During this visit, I was sat in the booths that have little curtains for privacy, which I also thought was a nice touch perfect for two chismosas/gossips (like my friend and I) catching up over ramen. I got the Kyushu Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen, which I thought was just okay. The flavor of the broth was nothing special in comparison to other spots I've been to. I did enjoy the tenderness of the pork chashu. Honestly, "mid" just comes to mind when I think of this bowl of ramen. The flavor was okay but it was good enough that I ate the whole bowl and felt satisfied.. This spot has the buttons where you can call the servers over to your table which is one of my favorite things a restaurant can have. Regardless, the servers were so sweet and would check up on us periodically to make sure we were satisfied with our meal.

Tonkatsu Curry Ramen

Got the Tonkatsu Curry Ramen which I thought was just fine. Was left wanting a little more from the broth. Also had a Steamed Bao Bun which I thought was average as well. I will say I loved the interior and got to sit in the top hexagon which was fun!

Amazing Lemonade

Update: After checking my receipt again, I realized that one of the items (Matcha pudding) included in the combo was missing from my order. I didn't notice at the time since everything else was great, but I wanted to mention it here. Hopefully, it was just an oversight. Still, I really enjoyed the visit and look forward to coming back! I had previously visited a Kyuramen in New York, but it was a takeout order, and I wanted to enjoy the full dining experience. Yesterday, I visited this location in Houston with my family, and from the moment we arrived, we were greeted with smiles and seated quickly (there were three of us). I already knew what I wanted: #6 Kyushu Spicy Tomkotsu ramen, the dish I hadn't been able to try during my first visit. My family decided to explore the menu, and they both enjoyed their choices. At the table, there was a button on the wall for service needs, and someone came to assist us right away. The restaurant was clean, cozy, and the service was excellent. This will become one of my go-to spots!

Thai Iced Tea

The interior design of Kyuramen is quite interesting. While I like the idea of the honeycomb seating, I don't think it's very practical. The steps leading up to them were narrow and steep for just the customers and it looked difficult to navigate for servers with their hands full of food. The combo seemed like a great deal - $52.99 for a tonkotsu ramen, miso ramen, popcorn chicken, 2 desserts (cherry blossom jelly & matcha pudding with red bean), and iced thai tea and lemonade (we got 2 Thai teas). Everything was delicious. My only qualm is I wish the popcorn chicken came with some sort of sauce because it was a little dry by itself.

(2) Katsuobushi Pork Ramen
Shannyn Q.

My husband and I got a ramen each and omurice. Our ramen's broth were very rich. Normally when I get ramen from other restaurants, I have to order extra protein, but the protein here was the perfect amount for the noodles. The omurice was very moist, but the pork tonkatsu was a bit too dry to my liking. However, when I added the sauce, it tasted so much better. My favorite thing there was the amazing lemonade. If you get a chance to dine here, I highly recommend it!! The service was good, there's a call button you press any time you need a server. The restaurant itself was cool! We sat at the honeycomb booth. Even though the space was small, adding stairs allowed for more room to dine in the restaurant. I'd recommend eating here at least once!

Cafe 101 serve Japanese and Chinese food. There are table and booths inside as well as a full bar. We started with a couple of sushi specials... bluefin toro and Uni. Thought the bluefin toro were fresh as well as the Uni. Wasn't expecting so was pleasantly surprised. For our mains, we ordered the twice cooked pork and beef galbi. Both came as a set... with rice, side dish of pickled radish and carrots and dessert. Price-wise, it was reasonable considering it came as a set. Twice cooked pork hits the spot. It was plenty and had some to go. Galbi was decent... it's not like Korean Galbi. It was pretty saucy, sweet and tender. It was decent portion as well. Think we found our new late night spot! Look forward to trying out the rest of their menu in the future. :-)

The lounge like ambiance, along with their diner-like menu, is a major selling point for folks and has been one of the reasons for their popularity over the better part of the last two decades. It is a bit trendy and plays music that you would think of and in a Miami lounge or a pretentious New York Club. While service is not their strong suit, the clean bathrooms, spacious seating, and semi-open kitchen makes up for some 'tudes from the staff. The menu is most definitely Asian, but blends from a predominantly Chinese menu and featuring various Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese items. The latter includes sushi, which is likely one of the only spots in the neighborhood that still has it after midnight. They have bluefin tuna and sea urchin, in which Cafe 101 is one of the only late night spots to offer it. Their beef chow fun is nice and greasy, but filled with excessive onions, bean sprouts, and various other veggies that almost take away from the noodles and beef (which was nicely cooked). Their shrimp and egg came in a nice set, which was a good surprise and surprisingly well executed. This is also a spot for Japanese curry, and even though it's not the best, it most certainly does the job. Taiwanese popcorn chicken is on point, cumin lamb is unsurprisingly spicy, and Singapore chow mai fun has a tinge of solid wok hei. (#1) I'm genuinely not a fan of their soups and think the sushi rolls are not their best work. While they also have milk, tea options, unless one is desperate, I would also steer clear of. Parking in the early evening can be an issue at Don Huang Plaza, but after 11pm, the parking options should be abundant. I would consider coming here in a larger group, especially with late night owls. ___________ (#1) Wok's essence (鑊氣)
