We came across Toyori Sizzling Ramen because it was the only joint with a line when we arrived at Dun Huang Plaza. The window display was definitely enticing because the plastic food displays looked very substantial in portion for the prices. Since we were not too hungry, we decided to explore the plaza's other restaurants and shops before making a decision. After walking a couple of rounds, we circled back to Toyori and there was no more line. So, we immediately made the decision to give it a try. The restaurant seating is nicely arranged along both walls and down the middle of the restaurant. Accent lighting gave the place a relaxing and cozy feel. However, we noticed the service staff were working at different rates. Some were taking on more than the others. My daughter likes miso ramen, we unanimouslydecided on the miso ramen. The plastic display showed large pieces of chashu lining the side of a large bowl. However, when the actual ramen bowl arrived, we could hardly see the chashu pieces. A case of misrepresentation ? On the upside, the ramen broth was tasty, but could be hotter in temperature. The noodle texture was just right and not overcooked.

Toyori is a hidden gem, it stands out even in chinatown how could you miss it. Tahiti reminded me of japan and if you enjoy good ramen this is definitely a must try! The ramen i ordered was the beef tonkotsu the meat was very tender, the broth was creamy and savory and the egg was just the way i wanted it to be sweet and delicious. The atmosphere is great the staff were very kind and attentive to help me figure out what to try on the menu if i'm ever in houston again craving ramen ill definitely be back try a new flavor !

It's always a pleasant experience when coming here. I have introduced many people to dine here and all have expressed their lovely experience as well. Service can be sketchy at times during peak dining time but it's never bad. It can get packed and there can be a wait time. I'm a big fan of sizzling platters so my food stays hot while eating, the ribeye steak being my favorite, with the black pepper sauce. My complaint is that it's never cooked medium rare, usually served medium and ends up getting more cooked as it sits on the hot platter. I get it with the spaghetti so I can take it to go and enjoy it the next day because I can't finish this entire plate in one sitting. The side vegetables of frozen corn, carrots, and brussels sprouts with the steak is more than enough for me so the spaghetti is a bonus. On this trip, we had a party of 5, enjoyed lots of appetizers but my favorite is the geso karaage - I favor this because I love fried squid. We tried the beef salad, just ok. My friend felt the grilled shrimp was a tad bit overcooked but then it was served on the sizzling platter and she ate too slow. The unagi steak was really flavorful, ratio of rice to fish was perfect. The restaurant is always clean and food comes quick. A carafe of water is placed on every table so you don't have to wait for a refill. Parking is a challenge most days but especially on the weekend so be prepared to search or park one of the two parking garages. Or you can save yourself the hassle of parking by catching a rideshare. I'll definitely be back for good comfort food.

I went here for a friend as he recommended it. It's a ramen place near menshos but with no line (or at least when I went). The vibe is pretty nice and the place is pretty spacious. The food is alright. I would say I wish the ramen were more flavorful but this could just be my preference. The other dishes like dumplings were decent.

The food was AMAZING! I loved the vibe too it was definitely a great date night spot, the server was nice and fast but he was running around all over the place--I hope they hire another person for the front too it seemed like he was handling everything. Overall 10/10

Recently had lunch here after my wife and son tried it first and I'm glad I followed their lead. I'd seen the photos and was intrigued, and let me tell you, this place did not disappoint. Tucked in the heart of Chinatown surrounded by countless restaurants and right next to a famous ramen spot--this one still manages to stand out. We ordered the sizzling steak over rice with eggs and veggies, their ramen, and a side of chicken and vegetables. It's not your typical Asian restaurant, it's got its own twist and that's what makes it great. The flavors work, the food hits the spot, and the vibe feels fresh. Definitely worth a visit. Try it...you'll see why.

They no longer serve the fish, which used to be my favorite dish here. I tried the steak this time, and while it was good, I don't think it was worth the price. For the cost, I'd rather go elsewhere. The restaurant also seemed understaffed, which affected service. Food took a while to come out. Those in my group who ordered ramen or were nearly finished by the time our sizzling plates arrived. The ramen itself was decent, though the portion felt a bit small. Overall, I'd recommend stopping by to try the sizzling plates at least once if you've never had them. But beyond that, this spot has slipped down my list of go-to places in Chinatown.

given that toyori is situated right next to mensho, i feel like people often come in ordering ramen and holding it to the same high standards. to me, that comparison feels a bit unfair. toyori really shines with their sizzling plates, which are clearly their specialty. portions are super generous for the price, and everything feels very affordable. the steak especially is sooo worth it. service was friendly, and we appreciated the small apps and yakult at the end :) the takoyaki was light on the eel sauce and not heavy on the mayo. there was barely any octopus though, which made it a little too doughy, but it was still tasty overall. the ribeye & chicken and the short rib sizzling platters were solid. id heard the meats can be a bit tough, so i asked for them cooked more rare than i usually order, and they came out tender, especially the chicken. the sauce itself was a little bland, though, and we had to add quite a bit of salt. the steak tonkatsu wasn't bad but nothing super memorable. the gyudon was comforting, with lots of fatty brisket marinated in a savory sweet sauce and soft onions. the only downside was that the rice was pretty soaked in oil toward the bottom; it definitely didn't need that much grease. also the miso soup it came with was basically just water... overall, toyori is a good spot if you order the right things, great for a casual, satisfying meal

More like 3.5/5. I'm from the East coast where there is plenty of amazing Asian restaurants so I know what good ramen tastes like. And sorry to say this definitely fell flat especially for the price. tonkatsu beef steak ramen: this was really different so I thought I give a try..mistake. The steak was overcooked and dry and really didn't pair well with the broth. Then they put red onion...when they could have just used green onions...The egg was also overcooked and not properly marinated. Takoyaki: save your money, it is mostly dough and very little octopus Located in Chinatown so plenty of other options to choose from.

Hands down the best ramen I've ever had. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive, and fast. The restaurant also had a great music vibe that made the experience even better.

My friend and I came here on a Friday night, randomly choosing this spot with little to no expectations. To our surprise, the menu immediately impressed us. I always appreciate a menu with pictures, and this one was packed with them! We got lucky since there wasn't any wait time and were seated almost immediately. I ordered the Prime Ribeye Donburi, while my friend went for the beef ramen. My dish took a bit longer to arrive, but the flavor made it completely worth the wait. I did end up adding a bit of spicy sauce to my donburi, but aside from that, it was incredible. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to this location again. My donburi came with a small side soup, which I, unfortunately, didn't enjoy at all.

Stopped in for a Sunday lunch. It was busy but there was not a wait. The space in compact but it has enough space for larger groups or for single diners. Service was friendly and prompt. We were served compilatory potato salad and pickled daikon as a snack and they also gave us a small probiotic drink to finish the meal. Very nice and unexpected touch. We ordered many items and shared them at the table. Shrimp Tempura, $8: 4 extra crunchy shrimps. The breading was closer to a panko than a normal tempura. But the dish was good. Karaage, $6.50: nicely fried bowl of chicken. Highly suggested for those picky eaters. like all the fried dishes it comes with tartar sauce on the side. Deep Fried Fish Nuggets, $6.50: loved the crunch. No overpowering fishy taste. Very enjoyable with a bit of hot sauce mixed into the tartar. Fried Gyoza, $7: a bit over fried, looked to have been deep fried and not pan fried. Very crunchy and falling apart in some places. Sizzling Rib-eye steak with spaghetti, $18: Wanted to try this item because it looked good in the reviews. Had it with the mixed sauce that was recommended. I will say not bad, but not great. It was a interesting dish, but the short ribs may have been better. We had it sauce on the plate, which helped it soak into the noodles a bit more. In general not bad, but more of a novelty than something I would get again. Tonkotsu Shoyu, $13: Above average ramen for Houston. A proper sized portion, with a good amount of toppings. The broth was flavorful and no bad aftertaste. In general a good dinning experience and if you are looking for Japanese food with a large menu selection I would give them a try. Would recommend and return.

Went here back in July and am just now getting around to a review, so I can't remember too many details. My friends and I opted in to try this place since we didn't feel like waiting in line for Mensho. The service here was great! We got complimentary Yakult drinks at the conclusion of our meal, and our server tried their best to stay on top of things on a busy Saturday night. The food itself here was alright though. I got the Signature Spicy Tan Tan, and it was a good level of spice as someone who loves spicy food. Other than that nothing about the ramen stood out to me and separated itself from being on the same level as other ramen places. My friends had the Tonkatsu Black garlic and one of their sizzling plates. Both were decent but if I had a choice I would get the ramen from here over the sizzling plates.

Flying V Harvest was fantastic. I drank that broth like I just came out of the Sahara. So good. The Impossible meat fusion is a funny add but a good protein bump. It was a few days ago but I think I'm still full from that ramen bowl. The vibe is modern high ceiling bumping music; my in-laws found it to be too loud. I think they are giving you an excuse to lean in and get a little closer to your companion. The vibe is chic yet also casual so bring whoever you want but this would work for date night. The font on the menus is squint inducing so do your research ahead of time or prepare to spend more time perusing the menu than usual, especially with the dim lighting. They offer thin or thick noodles and can mix some broth options to adjust spice level. Drinks- the smoked in front of your face whiskey is a treat and a show. Solid spot. No regrets. Their ramen is flavorful and solid and their service is consistent. Parking: parking is free in the garage around the corner from JINYA. We went during the week and the garage was not packed. There's also paid street parking around the restaurant that you can find but look for signs to know when you have to pay and when you don't. Service: service here is very good. They have an army of waitresses and waiters who check on tables and we never had to ask for refills or never had to flag down someone. Our food came out in a timely manner. The one thing I will say about service is the appetizers we ordered came out right before our ramen so we had all of our food at one time which was a lot. I wish they would've spaced out the food timing a little more. Ambiance: JINYA has a modern interior and open concept. They have tables, booths, and 2 big community tables in the center of the restaurant. The restaurant playlist is hip and modern. The inside of the restaurant is dimly lit so if you have bad eyesight, get ready to use your flashlight to read the menu. Food: we ordered two ramens and the gyoza and edamame. Gyoza: these were fried well and had a gyoza sauce that came on the table. The wrapper was thin and they were not too oily. We would order this again. Edamame: this was typical edamame. Nothing too special. Would not get this again when we come back. Creamy Classic Tori-Paitian: this is a chicken ramen with wavy noodles that came with fried enoki mushrooms, chicken chasu, butter, spinach and a corn rib. This ramen was rich in flavor and had so many fun, delicious toppings. The corn run was grilled nicely and I wish I had more of them in my bowl. I'm a sucker for enoki mushrooms and this did not disappoint. I took the enoki mushrooms out of the ramen immediately so they didn't get soggy fast and that was the move if you want the mushrooms to stay crunchy. The chicken broth was rich and light which was a great combo. I finished this bowl to the last drop. JINYA Chicken Ramen: my girlfriend got the chicken ramen with a side of bamboo. Warning on the bamboo: the bamboo comes dressed in sesame oil and sole hot oil so they are a little spicy. The chicken ramen broth was once again rich with flavor and light. The chicken chase was good and this ramen comes with thin noodles instead of wavy noodles. Overall JINYA hits the spot when craving ramen or some hot soup on a cold day. The chicken broth is legit and I will be closing back to try the pork broth soon. My only qualm with JINYA is the price at over $17 per bowl of ramen. There are cheaper ramen places but JINYA flavor makes up for the priciness.

However, since crawfish season is one of my favorite times of the year, I had to come back to try their limited edition ramen. Just like my first visit, the staff were extremely friendly, the food came out incredibly quickly, and the overall experience felt comforting and welcoming. I ordered the seasonal bowl, The Crawmen, which came with crawfish tonkotsu broth, andouille sausage, bayou butter, corn, and peppers. While the bowl was clearly inspired by a crawfish boil, I felt like it could have leaned even further into those flavors with more crawfish and a stronger boil seasoning overall. The ramen was definitely delicious, but the broth did not quite have enough crawfish boil flavor to fully separate it from their standard tonkotsu ramen. At times, it mostly tasted like the original broth with andouille sausage added in. Even so, it was still an enjoyable bowl of ramen, though I would probably stick to one of their regular menu options over this seasonal special. My mom and I also shared the Karaage, which arrived very quickly while still being piping hot, crispy, and juicy inside. On the other hand, I would personally skip the Sakura Sweet Tea and Strawberry Yuzu Lemonade in the future since they mostly tasted like their regular counterparts without adding anything particularly unique. Overall, I still really enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and reliable quality of this place, especially the ramen and karaage. While the seasonal bowl did not fully live up to its concept for me, the experience itself was still enjoyable enough that I would gladly return again.

She would've preferred to get shiitake mushrooms because she particularly didn't like the fact that the Oxtails were shredded and not on the bone (which is what we both expected when reading it). She also would've liked if they gave her a spice option since she likes spicy ramen. Unfortunately, we had to purchase a nasty 'Kappa' sauce which was not worth the $1.50. To her the portion size was A1, however we paid for the meat so it wasn't worth the $25. Now, the Vegetable Garden to me was a '8.5/10' it was good, had amazing portion size and they were not lacking in the texture department. I mean, the spinach noodles were delish, vegetable cooked very Al dente. I cannot complain on that part. To me it was missing a bit of flavor, maybe salt would've done the trick. Overall though, it did have the flavor of the mushrooms which wasn't bad. Most importantly though, I felt light after consuming my meal. Therefore, I have to give it all a high rating. GO TRY THIS PLACE OUT, ITS WORTH THE TRY
