Compared to the plentiful other ramen shops in town, there's a lot of competition. The broth of the Spicy Miso ramen, tonkatsu ramen, and braised beef brisket ramen had a very lackluster taste. Not very rich in flavor, not very spicy at all for the spicy miso. Leaving our group in a solid 2.5, 3/5 rating. For the price you can get a order of takoyaki, gyoza, karaage for about $~4.50 more which is a abundant amount of food that'll leave you filled. I've passed by this place so many times, but always on the way to somewhere else. Mistake rectified today! Everything was good, crispy without being oily and all the filling was well seasoned with that perfect bite of spice. The server was so nice and patient, gave us more than enough time to ransack the menu, and the interior is open and heavily illustrated without feeling cluttered, definitely a solid hangout spot. I drive by this place quite a bit, so i finally decided to stop in and give it a try. Although the atmosphere and service were fine, the food itself was lacking. I got the Ichiro Ramen which was an enormous serving with thick noodles and thick broth, but was very lacking in depth of flavor in both the broth and the Chashu. My wife got the gyudon which was about average. The Karaage and shrimp were fine, but nothing to write home about. So glad to see Ichiro Sapporo Ramen landed at Bellaire Food Street I. The ramen noodles are always cooked to perfection. I tried Tan Tan Ramen today. I was warned by the menu as this is a spicy dish. So, I ordered an unsweetened tea. It is from soda fountain, which means there is no tartness from the real tea. It was actually a good thing to calm my tummy if the ramen got too spicy. The soup is balanced with hot oil and bone broth. Not overly pungent like the Sichuan peppercorn I was expecting. There were plenty of minced pork in this Tan Tan Ramen. The wings were clearly older meat that had a rancid smell to them and they were hard to the touch with a darker brown coating as if they were recooked from a previous order. 3.5 stars I have to say I enjoyed all the food we ordered here, but minus half a star because our entire party was so so thirsty from the food for the rest of the day AND the day after. However I thought the noodles were over cooked (i prefer more al dente noodles). My husbands tsukemen was good as well, and I liked that his noodles were thicker and cooked perfectly, and not soggy bc they weren't sitting in the dipping broth. The dipping broth had a nice dashi flavor, which I really liked. The karaage was decent, but nothing extraordinary for a fried chicken. When deciding what to order, I kept going back and forth between shio and vegetarian broth. When I asked the server what's in the vegetarian broth, he obviously had no idea either. His answer was "it's a packet we open and add water to it." Um, that is not helpful at all! That's how I decided on the shio broth since at least the menu stated it was made of chicken broth. It is a twist on the traditional pork broth ramen. It comes with a delicious black garlic oil. Absolutely full of flavor. I also recommend the takoyaki. My boyfriend and I came here during their soft opening last month to try out their food. When we came in we were greeted by 2 gentleman who let us pick where we wanted to sit. We picked a back room booth next to the kitchen. For appetizers we ordered kroquettes to start and I ordered the tom yum ramen. Our food came out fairly quick, within 10 minutes and both men continueously stopped by to check on us, even refilling our water cups three times (which was very nice). The place was fairly empty but it was just before dinner and after lunch time so I was glad It wasnt crowded during these covid times. The food was delicious but very salty. Even my boyfriend said his ramen was salty and he ordered the spicy miso. The texture of the noodles were perfect in the ramen and I enjoyed the kroquettes which were so soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I think this is a good place to get food but I would hope that their food is not so salty the next time. They didnt have a dessert menu displayed but the waiter said they had some desserts. I opted out as I wanted to get something else but we appreciated the suggestions. Its a good place for a quick meal or a social occasion for groups of 3-5 people. I think more than 6 is really crowded. Pricing was fair and competitive to most places. I think fairly average compared to Jinya Ramen and other places I've been too. Definitely worth another try! The gyoza and potato croquettes are decent. Their broths are pretty yummy. I typically don't like spicy miso, but this one was one I wouldn't mind. Their tonkotsu broth is very rich and creamy and definitely gets a recommendation from me. I got the ichiro ramen and I have to say, I really really enjoyed the stir fried bean sprouts added in there, which I've never had in ramen before. Even the leftovers were great to eat a couple days later. The one drawback is that I really hated the char siu. It tasted kind of nasty and like old meat. I've never been a huge fan of the meats in my ramen anyways, so I wasn't overly disappointed, but I definitely would not try the don with it now. My cousins and I dined at Ichiro a couple of weeks back, as we were craving for Ramen but did not want to drive to Midtown. Ichiro is the new ramen place in the new Bellaire Food Street complex - so I thought to give it a chance! When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty empty. However, the venue quickly filled up afterwards. The decor was pretty standard for the complex - modern, hip, and trendy. For the food, we ordered the Croquette and chicken karaage to share as appetizers, and my cousins ordered the Tonkotsu's while I had the Tsukemen. We were afraid that the broth would be salty based on previous reviews on Yelp. But to our surprise, the Tonkotsu broth was actually the least salty when compared with Jinya or Tatsu-ya - maybe the chef/management took the Yelp reviews to heart and altered their salt level? My cousins prefer less salty broth, so this definitely helped. But otherwise, they were NOT happy with the noodle - the texture and shape were surely similar to the packaged ramyeon instead (the horror! ). The chasiu was forgettable, and the egg was not consistent (2 of us had perfectly runny yolks, while the other 2 had overdone yolks). The black garlic added some depth to the Tonkotsu broth, so we would highly recommend to add that! As for myself, I had the Tsukemen - which is the dipping noodle. The broth was definitely saltier than the Tonkotsu (expected). However, with the cold noodle, you would hope the bowl of broth to be piping hot - but it was very lukewarm. I ended up having to request the waitstaff if they could ask the kitchen to reheat the broth and maybe also the noodle as well. They could only reheat the broth as the noodle is supposed to be served cold, which was dine. Being able to dip the noodle in actually hot soup made a big difference! Though I don't think I would order this again at Ichiro based on the topping and egg quality. Otherwise, I think the appetizers were greatly enjoyable! The croquettes were crunchy yet packed with mushy mashed potato - lovely! The chicken karaage was crispy and piping hot. I'd highly recommend these 2 appetizers! read more

I ordered the Ichiro Ramen which was a tonkotsu broth base, with extra cha siu, extra chopped cha siu, bean sprouts, and extra thick noodles. The noodles were a good size. However, the entire bowl of ramen was the blandest ramen I have ever had the misfortune of tasting. The broth, while thick, lacked flavor (think essence of tonkotsu, like La Croix or fruit infused water). The cha siu was slightly overcooked so it was a bit dry. I don't mind the dryness IF it was seasoned. Not sure how they cooked it but it was pretty much tasteless, equivalent to putting unseasoned pork onto a propane grill. I did like the karaage though. Juicy and tender inside, fresh and piping hot. One thing I do suggest is that the crust could use slightly more crunch or batter. For a restaurant that specializes in ramen, I hope they improve on the flavor of...well everything that goes into a bowl of ramen. read more

I read the reviews before coming here and people either loved it or hated it. I had the same issue some other Yelpers had with the noodles. They were super stiff and too chewy. When I was stirring them in the broth, I found several just clumped together. So I'm assuming they were overcooked. Noodles aside, the service was very good, and the broth was also great. I got the tan tan ramen so it had some spicy and heat to it and I enjoyed it a lot - almost drank the whole thing. This is not as good as ramen in LA, but I think it's the best ramen in Houston. It's also really reasonably priced at $10/bowl! The potato croquette was delicious. It was perfectly fried and hot. The plum sauce was a great complement. I got the black garlic oil ramen and it's very flavorful - it's a heavier, more robust ramen and SO good. I came during their soft opening and have absolutely fallen in love with this place. The service here was exceptionally good as they were incredibly nice and always checked up to see if I needed anything. They even provided recommendations and helpful tips about the food which I was very happy with. I ordered the spicy miso ramen and it tasted absolutely delicious. Noodles were nice and bouncy while also having nice flavor. The broth was also very flavorful and quite nice. The pork meat was also very tender and delicious. Definitely one of the better ramen restaurants in Houston. I'll be returning again soon to try out even more items next time! read more

However, the broth itself was way too heavy and I felt like the oil was sticking to my mouth afterwards. A good ramen is all about the broth so while I appreciate all the meat that it came with, the soup itself really takes the whole thing down a notch or two. If they can fix that, the ramen would be so much better. Also, the price of the ramen here is definitely higher than other places.
