So glad to finally stop by at Dough Zone at the West Houston location. I was gonna eat some other food behind here but it was closed on Monday. Since I got here at the start of the day, I was the only customer at the restaurant. The employee was very friendly. He let me choose the food from the menu and wrote down what I wanted to order. He explained the noodles were smaller portions like a fist-sized amount. The dumplings might be more satisfying. Since it was my meatless Monday, I chose Zhajianmian and Green Onion Pancakes. For drink, I ordered a pot of Chrysanthemum tea. Everything came out pretty quick. Food was delicious and right portion for my diet. This is perfect for a quick snack before my grocery shopping trip. Came during lunchtime, only a couple tables being used. But the service was very slow. The store needs to have more than two employees (one cook and one waitress) taking care of the whole establishment. I noticed they are looking to hire a manager and they need one urgently including many other positions as well. It is evident there is not leadership in that place. We immediately ordered the wontons, potstickers and fried rice and it took the kitchen an hour to bring out all of the food. to emphasize: we appreciated the staff that were there but we also can acknowledge that it is necessary to have more staff present to provide adequate service. read more

The pork boiled Wontons are the best here! The chili sauce is also nicely sweet with just a small kick of spice. The promo during lunch is nice as it's a little cheaper. Soup dumplings were okay but I felt that the soup inside wasn't as hot and didn't have a lot in it so the inside soaked it up so fast. Would love to see a little more. Service was good. But the food is heavily salted, so be forewarned. Also make sure you don't come here hungry. The wait for the food can be longer than expected. And sometimes the kitchen staff burns your burn as they were too busy gossiping. Now maybe this explains why the red was pretty empty. read more

Dough Zone exceeded my expectations--it was wonderful! First, the restaurant is spacious and filled with natural light, complemented by soft lighting inside. It was very clean and well-maintained. The service was excellent and welcoming. I particularly liked the check-off order form, which made ordering food quick and easy. The food was equally impressive--hot, fresh, and delicious! We ordered the Pork Xiao Longbao, Dan Dan Noodles, and Green Onion Noodles. If I could, I would have ordered one of everything! I will definitely be back. Stopped by on a whim for a quick bite an hour before closing. It was just me, three other patron and the staff. Things were calm as expected, and I loved the warm lighting, wooden decor and spacious seating. I started with a huge pot of chrysanthemum tea and cucumbers; the flavors were balance between sweet and sour with an excellent presentation; the sesame oil the perfect compliment. The scallion pancake was okay. There could be more and/or fresh onions to make the flavor more pungent. The beef pancake roll was awesome. Hoa was a wonderful host! The Peking duck bun was unexpectedly filled with a spicy beef sandwich--an interesting twist. The pork and crab soup dumplings (xiao long bao) were savory and addictive. The Dan Dan noodles were spot-on, and the Q Bao was a delightful surprise--soft and fluffy all around, with a crispy fried bottom that added great texture. The filling was absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a minimalistic, open-seating design. There's an Easy Dumpling Club with rewards, making it even more enticing to return. This hidden gem, located off Westheimer near Royal Oaks, offers good service, quick turnaround, and a relaxed atmosphere with soft rock music playing in the background. The food was subpar. Pan fried dumplings just looked like boiled dumplings pan fried the bare minimum on one side. Fried rice was made with fresh rice per the server and came out very soft and too moist. Service confused our order despite there being only one or two other tables, and likely forgot my order of fried rice until I mentioned it. Dough Zone is situated in front a busy section off of Westheimer and is a prime location to get some modern take on a some asian staples. The facility itself is quite impressive, with a modern and comfortable ambiance that suggest its more of a fast casual place than some place where you hunker down. Some places of the floor were pretty slick, whether its from grease or general grime, that's not a good sign. We were well served with two staff members who were fantastic. We ordered xiao long bao, fried dumplings, green onion soy sauce noodles, green onion pancake and their sliced beef sandwich. The xiao long bao turned out to be very nice. Appropriate soup within the dumplings, and a great mouth feel to each one of them. The fried dumplings also was rather decent, I was pleasantly surprised despite it being a lot smaller than I'm use to. The onion pancake was mid, good taste and texture, while it was more on the flaky side of things, I didn't mind it too much. However I think for $5, you could have gotten a little bit more in quantity of it. I had issues with a few things, particularly the green onion soy sauce noodles. I ordered this for my baby since she loves noodles, I spread it out and saw it really was NOT much noodles for a $8. Secondly, the hot green onion oil that roasts the noodles when its poured onto it is what makes this dish tasty (Thats how we traditionally do it). This totally lacked any resemblance of that besides its just greasy with a few pieces of green onion. Thumbs down on this for sure. I ordered their sliced beef sandwich thinking it would be more of a 牛肉燒餅, or with a sesame bun and cilantro, but what came out was a sliced beef bao with cabbage. Also for around $8 for something not even the size of your palm. It was not what I expected but I would rather them say its a 'slice beef bao' than the more traditional/authentic beef sandwich commonly thought of. I suppose its my own fault for assuming??? Dough Zone is good enough for what they offer, as its not my favorite but I see why they're still in the grind. Its decent for their location. Far enough from Chinatown where you can find better food there, but close enough to local businesses and residents where they can get decent asian dishes. Its a one and done for me. read more

Where to start with this review. It was literally just okay. There's nothing wrong with it, but there's nothing outstanding either. I went here for dinner on a whim and was excited to try their soup dumplings. It was good, but again, nothing mind blowing. The cost of it was also a bit on the pricey side. We got their Chinese burger and they used a bao bun, which isn't what I'm used to. It's different, and not bad, but I still prefer the other type of bun. Their pan fried dumplings was also good, but again for the price, it could have been better. The place was nice and spacious and the service was good. I was craving dumplings and I found out about this spot through social media. I decided to give it a try. It was a clean and spacious restaurant. It was empty on a Sunday afternoon so there was plenty of seating. The menu is on a QR code and l loved that they show pictures of all of their food and drinks. There was a guy who I assume may be the manager, that was very helpful explaining the menu and food. Now to the food. The food was just ok. I was recommended the Dan Dan noodles which they make the noodles from scratch. It had a weird aftertaste so I did not enjoy it that much. Spicy (Ma La) Noodles was decent. I've had delivery from here a few times now. I thought everything I ordered was good and it certainly does the trick after a long day on the clinic floor. I've had several different things and I would eat them all again. The soup dumplings Pork Xiao Long Bao and Chicken Xiao Long Bao were both good. The chili sauce Pork Wontons and Chicken & Vegetable Wontons were a favorite. Sweet & Sour Cucumber was also really nice. The Dan Dan Noodle was OK, but I liked the others better. I had one bad delivery experience and I have to say the manager Chris was great to work with. He did ask me to clarify my order. Afterwards, I did not pay attention to the computer. I waited for my food and when I got the food, I checked my food and notice one of the food I want to get wasn't in the bag. Then I checked the receipt and I see it was not inputted into the order. The ambiance is this restaurant is so pleasant. There was classical jazz music playing throughout. They had staff waiting to assist you as soon as you walk in. We ordered the beef sandwiches, beef potstickers, and pan fried pork buns. The beef sandwiches were phenomenal and the potstickers and pork buns were great as well. First of all the ambiance is very nice, they have bao looking lights and steaming basket accent ceiling which is so cute. Hoa took care of me and provided excellent service. The price is not matching what you pay. For example, I bought the noodle dish $6.9, but it's just few noodles without anything. It is very disappointing. $10 for 4 pcs steam buns, it is from frozen package. That is the reason that there are not many people there. I will quit to go there. Price is too high and not worth it.
