Hi, I'm back. Did two separate pick ups over a course of a few months and was pleasantly surprised at the consistency and taste of the food. The staff are friendly enough as you pick up. I always pick up some napkins and chili oil at the counter. Tried a few new dishes: green beans, eggplant garlic sauce, mushroom chicken and the Mongolian beef lunch special. Stuck with the Dan Dan noodles and the biang biang noodles which were both delicious. Green beans (3/5) - def think the chicken green beans are way tastier; these didn't have the flavor or texture but still good Eggplant garlic sauce (5/5) this was my favorite discovery - the sauce was perfect and the eggplant was so tender; even after reheat it was still as good as fresh Mushroom chicken (2.8/5) this was a preference and I expected bigger pieces of chicken and a more diverse mushroom; just not my type Mongolian beef lunch special (3/5) Mongolian beef was nicely made, beef was tender and sauce was standard; the eggplant roll and siu mai were mid and the green beans were a nice pairing with the beef Overall enjoyed the food esp over here in the Heights where it can be difficult to find what I call home style Chinese food. There are a few things I wouldn't mind trying but will probably dine in for those (fish). Def recommend a try.

Saw this on my feed and decided to give it a shot! Feels like a mom and pop shop. Place was basically full on a sunday dinner. I wish they had condiments on the table - I should've just asked for more XLB - for a dumpling place I just expected more. An okay amount of soup and the filling itself was also okay. wish it came with ginger. 6.1/10 Wonton - I just have high expectations for wonton because of DTF. These felt like they were microwaved sadly. The wrap was a bit hard and the filling left more to be desired. Wanted more flavor from it overall. 4.8/10 Dandan - i enjoyed this part of the meal the most. the portion was good and the flavor was just enough for me to enjoy the spice, but not overwhelm me. Wish there was more meat. 7.1/10 Pork buns - they had a good crispy texture but outside that the buns were too soggy for me. flavor was just meh. 6.5/10

The food is amazing, always delicious but the customer service is horrible ! The short bald headed gentleman ignored me for 5 minutes straight while using his phone at the counter. Didn't check on me or asked if I needed anything... was rude overall . Will be going back but only for take out .

I have to say, prior to visiting Hi Trendy Dumping I was a little skeptical because the Yelp Review rating was too high for me to consider it an authentic place, also the menu is entirely in English, which added another factor for uncertainty. However, I was really impressed with the bright flavors we returned to the place for the second time in 10 days! Food came very quickly and we had green beans again, which is a must have! Amazing Spicy Fish had that bright Sichuan peppercorn and dry red chili flavors. I liked it although I wish it had a little less batter. So I think next time I'll order the very delicious Spicy Boiled Fish again instead. My husband opted for General Tso's tofu again since he really enjoyed it last time. The restaurant is clean, spacious, and parking is super easy. Service is prompt and friendly. I read on their website that their wait staff pool their tips together so customers are encouraged to ask help from any of the wait staff, and I think that's a great concept! On both of visits I look forward to the leftovers which says a lot about the flavor and quality of the food.

Food was so good! I got 2 orders of their fried rice and the chili dumplings + chicken dumplings. Service was good I ordered online and when I got there my order was ready and it stayed warm! Ambiance was good I wasn't expecting the inside to be so big. Super clean from the looks of it. Will go back and sit down in the restaurant

After a long day of apartment hunting we found this cute dumpling place. When we arrived we were immediately attended by friend staff. After ordering the food came fairly quickly, everything was hot and fresh. We really enjoyed every dumpling we got they were flavorful and delicious! We would recommend anyone in the area and definitely want to go back to try so much more!

This place was cute and quaint. The service was decent, nothing negative to say there. The food was good. While we also got the shrimp dumplings and the pork bao, they tasted just like every other Chinese dumpling place. The noodles were definitely not something I've seen often enough so I was very excited to try. They were yummy but the flavor didn't wow me. They only had Sriracha as a condiment on the table which was different as most places also do chili oil and I think this would have been a perfect addition to all the dishes we had. Overall this was a decent place, didn't feel it was impressive but overall a good place to eat.

Got a quick lunch and this was a great choice. Ordered the peppercorn chicken...lots of spices and flavor, chicken was nice & tender. It's overpowering with ginger for me too, but overall enjoyed it.

Stopped by this spot randomly on my way to another location! Saw it had good reviews so wanted to give it a try. Immediately as I entered I was warmly greeted by staff and offered seating. There was definitely a very lively and inviting atmosphere to the restaurant.i ordered the shrimp and pork soup dumplings and they both were very tasty. Wanted something somewhat light yet filling after my working. Will definitely have to be back with a bigger appetite!!

Great location off Yale and i10. Has a decent size parking lot. Cute inside and cozy. The food was great, no complaints. Good lunch special. Dumplings were great I had the shrimp and pork dumpling. The iced mocha was yummy. Service was quick and easy. Will definitely go back.

*Update- The owner reached out and apologized, offered credit to dine again, and said they would have a team meeting.* My server ruined my birthday. I'm not sure of her name, she didn't provide it. She had a weird dark energy around me. I found myself going out of my way to be nice to her so she could stop acting odd and what I can discern was judgmental of me. I tried offering my light and kindness to her darkness. I tried to make her feel comfortable. It did not work. And I shouldn't have had to do that on my own birthday. These past few years I've endured a lot but I was ready to dedicate this one day to being happy, just this one day to being special. It was the first time I'd dolled up my hair and put on a nice outfit in a while - nothing fancy, simple black top and jeans. I was happy, confident, smiling and ready to celebrate my 31st birthday until she came around me with her dark, negative, hateful energy. She made me feel bad about myself. I felt bad when I'd done nothing wrong, I was simply existing in the chair. She made me feel bad for existing. -The lamb noodle I ordered was good but hard to enjoy while pushing through someone's negative energy. I'm not going to judge the entire establishment based on one person's actions but from my experience, if you get this particular server, you will not feel safe or comfortable as a black woman. In the end, My special day was not so special. Just be kind to others.

This review is for take out only. We ordered walnut shrimp, biang biang noodles, Singapore rice noodle, pan fried bao, chocolate soup bao, amazing fish, Mongolian duck, and garlic pork tendon. Portion sizes were more than sufficient to feed 5 adults. Prices were okay, similar to prices back in Illinois. Prices are slightly expensive if people are wondering. Overall a 4 out of 5. It's a good solid Chinese restaurant. -walnut shrimp 5 - can't go wrong with this. Big pieces of shrimp. Shrimp was perfectly cooked, wasn't dry. -biang biang noodles 5 - anyone can eat this dish if you don't want it spicy at all. Noodles had a good chew. -Singapore rice noodle 5 - it has chicken, beef, and shrimp with spicy curry sauce. It's not too spicy. They put a lot of meat in here. None of the meat was dry. Noodles were a little chewy. -pan fried bao 5 - it has pork inside. They were delicious. Easy to tear and the meat was juicy. -chocolate soup bao 3.5 - mostly for the kids. I prefer the chocolate baos from Din Tai Fung. -amazing fish 5 - highly recommended. Fish has a bit of a kick to it but not too much. They were cooked well. Fish was moist inside. -Mongolian duck 5 - I never saw Mongolian duck before but it was great. Duck pieces were very tender. -garlic pork tendon 4 - the pork itself was good but I think they overdid it with all of the peppers,

Their service was great, and their extensive menu made it hard to decide what to order! But overall, I didn't feel like being too adventurous, so I ordered the usual: 1) Mapo Tofu: (4.5/5) Pretty tasty! There was definitely a numbing spice, but PERSONALLY not a fan of the addition of ginger, but this is purely personal preference, but something to keep in mind if it's not your favorite ingredient. 2) Eggplants in Spicy Garlic Sauce: (5/5) chefs kiss, you can't go wrong with this. Maybe the Montrose and Bellaire location prepare it a bit differently, but I felt that the Bellaire location did not skimp out on the garlic pieces; I also don't think the dish was very spicy, however. 3) Spicy and Crispy Chicken: (5/5) There's not much to say, but this is another classic that you can't mess up! There are several other dishes that I look forward to trying, and definitely think Mala is one of the best Sichuan places in the area!

The food came out quickly and everything we tried was delicious. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the service. It was extremely busy and it seemed like there were only two servers handling the entire floor. If you didn't ask for what you needed when they initially came by, it was very difficult to get anyone's attention afterward. We had quite a bit of leftovers and couldn't get anyone to come over for to-go boxes or the check I ended up having to go to the front to ask. Overall, great food and a good experience, but they definitely need more staff if it's consistently this busy.

Our go to orders are the hot pepper chicken, cumin lamb, red oil wontons, and Dan Dan noodles. The food is spicy and numbing from the sichuan peppercorn and very flavorful. My only complaint is the salt level of some of the dishes but otherwise it's excellent. Hopefully they can open up a new location closer to us in SE Houston/Webster eventually.

Get the eggplant! Been obsessed with Sichuan food lately,…read moreand my friend recommended this place. I think we may have went on an off day because I have tried takeout form this place that was delicious, but on this day the food wasn't my favorite. We did overall enjoyed our experience and time and I would recommend giving this place a try! We ordered a total of 5 dishes and everything seemed very authentic to Sichuan cooking. With Sichuan cuisine though, a lot of the food will be on the oily side, so keep that in mind. - Eggplant In Spicy Sauce (5/5): Definitely order this dish! You can tell the eggplant was prepared well because it retained its beautiful purple color and luscious shape. The flavor was sweet and savory seeped well into the eggplant. My only comment would be that there wasn't a strong garlic flavor, but it was still so tasty I think it deserved that 5/5! - Mapo Tofu (2.5/5): I came here specifically for the mapo tofu but was left a bit disappointed. The flavor was pretty good and had that strong Sichuan pepper spice that lingers after a while. My issue with the tofu was the consistency of the sauce. I found it to be very thick and clumpy in an unpleasant way, almost like eating little gelatin pieces. I would probably come back to try it again just in case this was a bad batch, but it's hard to compete with wanna boa's mapo tofu. - Spicy and Crispy Chicken (4/5): Pretty juicy and crispy chicken with a slight kick. I love anything fried chicken so I did enjoy this dish but it was pretty standard and there wasn't much to write about. - Red Oil Dumplings (3/5): Pretty standard oil dumplings. They weren't really spicy which would be good for people who can't handle spice. I think I would've liked a bit more meat filling but overall not bad. - Dan Dan Noodles (3/5): I loved the texture of the noodles but I found the sauce to be kinda slippery which made it hard adhere to the noodles. I also thought the flavor could've been a bit stronger. Service/Ambiance: the interior of this place was super cute, especially the upstairs area. I loved the dim lighting and tiny table lamps which gave this place a cozy romantic feeling. The outside was also interesting with an all black exterior and no sign. That might make it hard to notice or find the restaurant, but that did give it a more hidden feeling which was nice. Parking was also abundant and service was great!
