The food is amazing, fresh and good. The service could be a little more attentive but overall Great place to eat.

Hu Tieu Do Bien - Seafood Noodle Soup

Firstly, very nice vibe when walking in. We were greeted instantly. I think the gentleman at the register assumed we were dining in. We were ordering to go. I saw the menu on Yelp prior to arriving, so i knew what i wanted. I ordered the, Hu Tieu Do Bien - Seafood Noodle Soup, To-Go Order. In the Bag - Bean Sprout, sliced Jalapeño, lime, and Basil leaves. In the Bowl - Noodle, 2 Shrimp, fish balls cut in half, imitation crap cut into chunks, cilantro, green onion, thinly sliced white onion, and fried/crispy onion. Chili sauce and 2 packets of Hoisin Sauce on the side. The bowl was very good. This was also my 2nd time eating Pho. So i enjoyed it very much. It was enough to feed both me and my partner. Thanks again. We will definitely be back

First time ever having Pho and I really enjoyed what I got. I ordered a winter melon tea, mini egg rolls, and the brisket pho. I thought the broth and brisket were super delicious. The sauce what came with the egg rolls was different but tasty. The winter melon tea a little too sugary but overall good. I would definitely come back here!

Nut allergy friendly: They do have a peanut sauce served with the spring rolls. I'd also be careful with the chili sauce. Otherwise, pho is totally safe. I ordered this as a late night option and was so surprised by how good it was that I took two more friends the next day to confirm. Lo and behold, this might be one of the best pho spots inside the Loop, and definitely the best late night weekend option! Warning: Taking the pho to go, you are EXPECTED to boil the broth when you get home. This is how you cook the thin raw meat and the slightly uncooked noodles. I actually really respect that they give you slightly firm noodles with this expectation. Do not believe the reviews that say that the noodles are undercooked. The pho broth here is very flavorful and rich, though slightly oily. Meat is sliced thinly and all meet expectations in tenderness. I'd say the brisket gets a little tough, but isn't bad at all. Portions are large and filling. What more can you ask for? Don't let the funny name fool you. This pho is great.

    Bug in my soup
    Pretty B.

I walked into the joint, and at first glance, it was lookin' pretty tidy and had a charming vibe. But man, I've got a bone to pick with how they responded when I spotted this bug floating around in my soup. Not even so much as an "oops" or "we're sorry" from them! The dude just offered up another bowl like it's no big deal. Honestly, I'd have appreciated if they'd let me choose whether I wanted my money back or maybe get a fresh dish. So there I am sitting down again big mistake and bam! Three bugs on the lettuce under where my egg rolls lay. When I pointed that out to them, instead of being nice about it, they gave me attitude like Im the problem. And talk about rude the cashier basically slapped my refund into my hand without uttering a peep. No type of Apologize at all! Let me tell you Im not ever stepping foot in this gross place again! Seriously thinking 'bout ringing up the health inspectors for sure!

Decent pho close to the house. Not a very large menu but the flavor is good and it seems like quality ingredients.

this place is so good!! i get the vegan pho and the vegan fried dumplings, and even getting the regular leaves me with plenty of pho left over. the mushroom broth is so flavorful too.

I had a mad craving for pho and have wanted to try their bone marrow pho. Unfortunately the bone marrow was sold out :( This is almost like a "fast-casual". Which makes sense for the area it's located in. You'll need to order at the register first, pay and then have a seat. They'll bring out the food for you. I very much enjoyed my pho! I like the a la carte options that you can add. I selected quail eggs and shrimp balls in addition to the fatty brisket and meatballs. Yummms. I didn't care for the fried dumplings. The wrapper was a little thick and doughy, the filling was bland and the dipping sauce wasn't hittin'. What a bummer! The staff is more than welcoming and attentive. I will def be back to try that bone marrow pho!

I had such high hopes for this place! It had great staff upon entering. Sadly, I found a strand of hair in my food rather quickly. :( The food was delicious nonetheless but it was disappointing to find that in my meal.

Not many restaurants in Houston offer Takowasa, which is marinated raw octopus with wasabi; and when we find one that does, it's our must order for appetizers. We also ordered the chicken karaage and agedashi tofu. The karaage was juicy and slightly larger than the size of popcorn chicken. The tofu was soft and lightly battered, however the downside is that it gets soggy quickly since it's sitting in the sauce rather than on the side. For our entrees, we got the carbonara, curry tonkatsu rice, niku tama ankake, and kakuni udon. The carbonara was nice and creamy. The curry rice tastes exactly like the Japanese box curry. The niku tama is more of a thicker soup base similar to egg drop soup, however has a more slightly sweet umami flavor. The kakuni udon had a lighter broth with braised pork belly. The service was a bit slow here, but we didn't mind it too much. The interior had a cute traditional Japanese style decor. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and we'll be back to try other udons.

Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.
