Not the best Vietnamese food I have had, but definitely good. The 4 stars is based off of it being in the tunnels (kind of like comparing restaurants at the airport, you give them a little extra leeway) if it was out in the general public I would have gone 3 stars. They get the food out quick, food was good, and the menu is pretty large. Be warned, my friend has been coming here awhile and the bahn mi jalapenos are always more spicy than normal. If you have delicate stomach or think normal jalapenos are about all the spice you can take, you might 86 them or ask for them on the side. I thought they were great on my bahn mi. The wonton soup was pretty good and had several wontons (some places just give you one and somehow think that is enough). Spring rolls were average. I usually try to not leave negative reviews for restaurants , as I am an owner of several, but I have to leave this review.... The regular cashier (bigger girl) HAS TO BE THE WORST when it comes to customer service on EVERY level. She never has any sense of urgency and customers always seem like a bother to her. This Vietnamese restaurant is located in the tunnels. Just right in front of getting off the elevator from the Enterprise Plaza building. I ordered the vermicelli pork. It came with a spring roll, salad and of course the vermicelli with pork and fish sauce. This is fast food. There are limited seating at their restaurant. Like around 5 tables. I feel that their seats are a bit crammed But I just had it to go and ate it upstairs in the office instead. So everything was good except, I find the pork a bit dry. But the fish sauce help though. OMG Bodard has the BEST Chicken salad EVER. I'm on Keto and ask them to replace the noodles with lettuce and more vegetables. This is my treat after dieting for 2 weeks. I devour every morsel. They have an awesome menu and even have daily specials. This is the only place in the tunnel system I can get iced tea with limes. Their Bahn Mi is also very good. Quick vietnamese work lunch spot in the West Dallas tunnel. You can access through the building next to the Hyatt Regency and take the escalators down and it will be on your right. Small place with limited seating. They offer a simple but diverse menu. Decided to try the chicken curry to try something different. Got a good portion on meat. The only thing that I've had at this location was the dumplings and the chicken ones are not that bad. I did try the Pho noodles at the Louisiana location and it was really terrible. Both the broth and the chicken had absolutely no flavor whatsoever and for some reason they had pre-cut the noodles into tiny pieces...who does that? The reason for the 3 stars is because the lady that was working at 711 Louisiana on 8/23 and 8/24 is extremely rude and on top of that she had her 3 small kids helping her out. For Vietnamese fast food in the downtown Houston tunnel, it is very good. The banh mi pork sandwich has a good taste with the right amount of jalapenos and vegetables alongside the pork. The pork with vermicelli is good, with some salad along with the pork. The only dish I didn't like was the dumplings. They tasted like the frozen dumplings you buy at the Asian grocery stores. This tunnel delight is a must if you're downtown for a quick lunch. Danny the owner is such a nice man and more times than not present behind the cash register. Everything is really good. It's quick, cheap and delicious. I've waited no longer than 6 minutes for my food. Probably the best sticky rice I've ever tasted even at non-tunnel restaurants, so succulent and fresh. Their "Bodard rolls" are really good too, made with rice paper and grilled pork and fresh veggies. They have freshly streamed veggie, chicken or pork dumplings and downtown dumplings are always so competitively great! Ban mi sandwiches, are good but bread is a bit tough and watch out for the jalapeños! Their ice coffee is amazing! A bit on the sweet side but it's so refreshing and yummy during the hot Houston summer. My favorite is the sticky rice and pork but I also love the vermicelli and chicken. Both are outstanding. Aw, not sure why I forgot to rate this awesome place! If you are familiar with Bodard Restaurant, then you know about their spring rolls with the crispy stick inside and the sweet dipping sauce. You can get that here at this tunnel location. Cost is $7 for 4 Bodard yummy rolls. You can get the regular spring rolls too. I have had the beef pho, which is packed with meat! And the banh mi thit nuong (grilled pork banh mi) is packed as well. The sandwich costs $4 itself but you can get the combo that comes with drink and chips for $7. Pho is $7. Actually the entire menu is pretty much $7 They also cafe some tapicoa drinks and thai tea as well. :) I like to make a nice long walk here to get my Vietnamese food fix. I knew it was a Vietnamese restaurant and I went there with the intention of getting some noodles but I saw fried rice on the menu and got the shrimp fried rice instead. The place was very clean and the staff very nice. The meal was prepared quickly. I got a whole order but should have done the half because the portion was very generous. It was loaded with shrimp and very tasty after I added soy sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed it. They weren't kidding when people said this place was small. This place is located under the Pennzoil Place building and it's a small walk up food court style establishment. No dine in options available but there are nearby tables for you to eat at. I'm a huge a fan of their Bodard rolls from their location on Bellaire and wanted to see how these stacked up. The pork's flavor was robust, the French bread had a nice crunch and it was not too spicy to turn off neophytes. 2 spring rolls = $3.50 and a singular banh mi sandwich is only $4. Plentiful free seating in the courtyard area, you could also visit Starbucks, Chick-fil-a, Treebeards, a bakery or other options, but why hesitate? This place needs a lot of work. The food is pretty bad, even with low tunnel standards. I had the shrimp fried rice. The rice was so undercooked it was crunchy and hurt my teeth just to eat it. On top of that, all of the shrimp were dried out and had the the prominent black poop tract down the back of the shrimp. Really grossed me out so I basically ate an order of dry, flavorless, uncooked rice. On top of that I had the "chicken and shrimp spring roll" not sure why you can't get chicken or shrimp and has to be both. But these were terrible too. Thank you for opening a Vietnamese restaurant in the tunnels directly below my work building. This is literally just a quick ride down the escalator for me to get here. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Bodard Express is the fast food version of their main restaurant Bodard Bistro in the southwest part of town. I only ever go to the main restaurant for their nem nuong rolls (called bodard rolls at Bodard Express) and was pretty satisfied with the ones here. I just didn't like that they used iceberg lettuce in the rolls. The dipping sauce it comes with is so freaking good though. I would recommend the bodard rolls over the usual ol spring rolls with shrimp. The pork and rice plate is just okay. The pork just didn't taste good and it was cold. It seems like the food may be pre-made or left sitting out a bit before given to customers. Hence the "Express" but I still wish the food tasted more fresh. There are much better Vietnamese options in Midtown but convenience of this one wins. I will be back to try the soups. read more
